In the US we have klein Irwin milwaukee and that Fatmax. They are the same Taiwan oem that makes the same product diffrent colored handles. They run $17 to $30 as long as they say made and Taiwan and aren't some crazy name on az they generally work the same. I keep a pair of klein ones in my bag for the express use of stripping outer jacket of romex 14/2 12/2 (with earth for you types).
I'm not a sparky, but I do a fair bit of wiring on vehicles. I have the Fatmax strippers in my automotive electrical kit and they have worked well for years....but I prefer the CK version that I have in my home electrics box (don't know why...they just feel better in the hand). A while ago I misplaced the Stanley ones, and believing they were lost forever, I bought a pair from Amazon UK. They are Capri brand and were on offer for £10 or £12. They are identical to the Stanleys apart from the blue colour and work just as well.....then of course I found the original pair, and now I have three ....doh!
I use a pair think mine were around £15-20 from Amazon and they do work well but tend to use them when doing down lights with push fit terminals. Everything else I use snips/side cutters, the T/E strippers are to big to strip in the back of a galv box, snips you can strip right back to the grommet.
I've always wanted to use these but I'm not buying a tool just for stripping downlights 😂 snips do everything so that's what I will use! If they make one that allow me to work in a socket or switch and strip the cable back enough then I'm sold 😂😂
Stanley and CK strippers are around the same price now at £20ish. I bought a cheap pair of crimping tools instead of the CK equivalent. I wish I hadn’t. The crimps weren’t tight enough and the wires were easily pulled out.
Whats the best way to strip the outer casing from a UK immersion heater cable? It has 2.5mm^2 cores, but total diameter of the cable is 8-10mm. Ive a bunch of side-strippers but the diameter is too large for them. There's gotta be a better way, without fiddling about with an exacto knife...
This type of wire stripper should easily cope with 2.5mm twin and earth but more cores and it may get too big to fit. I have a CK pair that can do up to 12mm OD, they are a different design which I find easier to use and they are much better made than the Stanley.

Over the years I have tried different models, and currently have a high end Milwaukee, but I still reach for everything else but them. They are more jack-of-all-trades, but master-of-none. I can only see them working for someone who has a specific and repetitive task, or someone who doesn't want to buy a set of other specific-task tools. Question: Do they work on Euro-style round insulated three-wire cables? Request: Could you recommend a cheap stripper for such three-wire cable? I come to Greece for the summer and the only ones I see are the Knipex-style round strippers but they are so expensive.

And it seems you got same impression about all in 1 tools, as they is good at 1-2 of the uses and you rather use a proper sidecutter or line cutter todo the actual cutting compared tp the strippers. Maybe add an macro overview camera angle also to zoom well into the tool parts.
You've misunderstood what the screw does. It doesn't adjust the depth of the blades - it's literally just a friction device to only let the handles close when the squeezing force goes over the (adjustable) limit. The harder you squeeze, the more force is applied to the serrated grip side and the blades. Behind the adjuster screw is nothing more than a spring and a plunger that pokes into a hole. It's very primitive and it's the same on the Stanley and the cheap one. I suspect the performance difference between the two is just down to tolerances in manufacturing. Another pair of cheap ones would probably work fine, but it'll be a gamble.
The £50 Stanley's were purchased on Amazon for a price above RRP? Sounds likely. I have the Stanley's and they were exactly the same price as the CK Tools
If you paid £50 for the Stanley pair you got seriously ripped off, they are about £20 normally. The reason they look exactly the same is they are made by the same factory in China to the Stanley design and that is the disadvantage of getting your products made in china, they rip off your design and sell it direct themselves for half the price.
Have the CK's they are great but the plastic depth stop snapped off easily. The only model that does a metal stop is Klein so worth a look if you cant judge length
Referring to the "red ones" isn't really helpful. I mistakenly bought "Matador" branc from Toolstation when I meant to buy the CK Tools version. Both Red. Matador a bit rubbish. CK seem a lot better abd cheaper than the Stanley. And now he has just mentioned that he uses CK.
I had the ck version though and the handles were dead writhing about 2 months. My fat max have lasted years. They’re missing a few bits now, but still going strong.

I bought an identical cheapo pair to those red ones 5 years ago, minimal use (not a spark) got them out of drawer - would not cut a damn thing, adjustment does NOTHING as mentioned! (and when they did cut, it was never clean) Garbage. Buy cheap, buy twice.
