Every time I hear "Face the sunrise!" I panic. It just sounds like an enemy ult line. I blame Valorant's Fade.
I don’t think a lot of people realize that her value instantly tanks when that pylon is destroyed. Her main source of healing is on a 12 second cool down and her DPS is only effective WHEN YOU CAN HIT SHOTS. She’s not different than Bap, Ana, or Zen in that their skill relies on you executing their kit and when you don’t, the value plummets. She’s not overpowered or over tuned, just different.
It may be because I’m forced to pace my shots, but her Primary Fire’s bullet size feels huge. I regularly end games with 60+% accuracy.
@@kasm7870Because it IS huge. I tried this out in the firing range on Friday. Even if you aim at the training bot’s nametag, you still hit a headshot! It’s crazy large lmao

@@cooperswan534 People are shocked by this concept. If you don’t time her shots or hit anything, you’re not going to have a good time. Her skill floor is so much higher than supports like Moira, Baptist, and Kiriko
@@kasm7870Yeah, as a railgun (rather than a „regular“ gun) it has increased projectile size compared to other hitscan just like sojourn‘s railgun (Overwatch logic I guess)
The important thing is to keep placing the healing pylon at your team’s current location before the enemy team has the chance to damage it so you have constant uptime. It’s like playing chess with the enemy’s sight lines
All you gotta do is get WAY better with that pylon placement. I play with nearly 100% uptime and most healing in the game every time now. Find those angles and hidden spots.
Set it up in a general spot near where your team is, and use your beam to heal targets outside that area. You are letting it get destroyed and not getting value from it WAAAAAY too often. It’s like harmony orb in that way. Keep that thing up up up up up.
Illari's one of those heroes that makes you realize how little value the other supports really get as a solo player. Its nice being able to actually secure kills consistently.
Imagine being a mercy and not being able to contribute to kills, making it 4v5 in that essence 😂 love supports that can help contribute to killing the enemies

Bap: throws lamp, nobody stands in it. Uses wall, nobody shoots through it.
Kiriko: saves team from shatter with suzu, enemy throws anti nade, you lose the fight.
Mercy: gets rez off on feeding tank, tank proceeds to feed again. Dmg boosts dps, dps has 5% accuracy
Illari: throws healing station, kills 2 enemy's by herself, uses knockback to save other support getting dove.

happy to see some positivity around the game
I made it so the sensitivity while healing is 150% of normal sense and made her regular sense lower than my usual, I found that really helps with aiming while not sacrificing any healing potential. Sometimes i'll even hold right click when theres no allies nearby just for a higher sense for a moment to do a 180 or something.

@@everilliem3292 But they aren't "potential" resources, because I'm alone. I don't do this all the time, literally like once or twice per game, it also uses like a tiny fraction of the resource meter. Literally like a third of a second just to quickly flick my camera around.
I've never had so much fun playing a hero before. When she gets introduced into comp, regardless of nerfs, I will be playing her a lot just for the enjoyment aspect
Jumping off the map to dodge the shatter then ulting to save point is the biggest outplay I've seen in 2023
In my experience, she's able to do so much damage because the healing pylon heals for a ton to the point where you don't even have to look for your team to heal; you can just focus on damage. I think she starts showing her weakness in dive comps where the team generally won't be grouped enough for the pylon to do its work, and the range on her secondary fire is incredibly short to where she won't be able to heal anyone diving in at all.
Yes agreed. Idk how well she'll do on some maps also. It'll really depend on team comp and maps. Some places she looks broken and others she's out of place and can't heal her team. Even so I feel like if you're pretty good with her it's not gonna matter too much.

She’s SO fun, she’ll absolutely be my main lol
i really hope they dont nerf her before we get to comp. i think between her healing beam running out fast and the primary fire charge rate being slow, shes pretty balanced because she requires skill and resource management. and her ult isnt busted, its just like any other ult that has high kill potential but needs follow up. i think blizzard nailed her release for once
They explicitly said she would be shipped overtuned. She is overtuned.
@@kasm7870 she’s not though, the only thing that could use a change is her ult generation, everything else is fine. its already been a couple days since release and people are already learning to destroy her pylon and avoid her ult in quick play, so you best believe in a comp setting these things will be even harder to pull off.

My only issue with her is that her ultimate charges way too fast. She is often the first character to get their ultimate off in every single match. I’ve played with her in it. So if they could just tone her ultimate charge rate back just a little bit, I think she’s gonna be in a good place.

What makes the "Photosynthesis" comp so good? I'm assuming with lifeweaver being a healbot and illari being... well, a dpsbot I guess, I guess that balances out very well?

I play a ton of Ana and I feel like Illari is less fun. She feels like she’s a poke version of Moira, where she provides 0 utility and has massive stats at the end of the game. Two taps feel nice - but with the massive size of her primary fire, it’s a bit too easy. Her beam feels limited, her turret is currently OP as hell, her movement is fun, and her Ultimate doesn’t feel like it has a place in a Support’s kit.

I loved Kiriko when she was released, she still has over double the playtime that my next most played character does (Lifeweaver). But Illari is definitely, by far, the most fun that I’ve had playing support, if not any role
With some slight tweaks like making her ult charge a bit slower and maybe decrease her fallout range by like 5-10 meters she’d be perfect imo

I've been playing OW a lot since 6th season started, because I want to get Illari as soon as possible! I've completed all weeklies last week and am planning to complete all weeklies this Tuesday too. Hoping to get to level 45 soon! 🤞
I am super thankful that I can get a hero just by playing the game. It keeps me excited and engaged!
It’s nuts that I usually have top heals and top dps out of the other supports which is usually on par with the dps damage

The more you play her, the more you maximize the effectiveness. Early on I was getting great damage stats, and good elim stats. As I played more, I know have decent damage stat, great elims stat, and great healing stat. My best healing game was over 13k, I don't think I've seen anyone else crack 10k on her.
Great tip for healing pylon: don't worry too much about putting it in a place that it can be destroyed, the most important thing is that its in a place where it'll heal your team where they're fighting. Your team will not play around a well positioned pylon, you have to position it around your team.
so glad another feels the same way lol! i feel like shes much easier to aim with simply because you have to wait a second before shooting, so you get to stop and think about what you’re actually shooting at instead of going all berserk :P

her pylon does so much healing if it doesn’t get destroyed its crazy. It lets you focus on dps instead of babysitting your team. She is so fun
It's 50 hps, I think mercy if 55, used to be 50, it's a mini mercy pocket
This is why I love Brig and Lucio. No need to constantly look for critical teamates, just stay sort of near them and focus on the enemies. People always whine about the weak heals but honestly the constant AoE trickle of healing is super strong.
I like the interesting dynamic of sacrificing the utility and healing output of a more typical support for more damage and carry potential. I love this new hero, can't wait to unlock her and master her movement just to get zero value out of her with my bad console aim lmfao
Well thats the thing. If you wanna turtle/bunker a bit more and take it slow while poking, she doesnt sacrifice ANY healing. It's just QP but there were 2-3 games where I was getting more damage, more elims, AND more healing than literally everyone in the server. Most games I'm on par or have more damage than the DPS, but almost all games I had more healing than our other support.
If your team wants to be a bit mobile, you just need to remember to keep repositioning the healing pylon which i see a lot of people not doing. Its critical to keep her healing up.

@@Scripzure only if you allow it though. If the enemy team keeps running through you, the healing output is ASS. its great for poking, turtle comps but not great for dive or rush.

i love illari. i have clocked about 7-8 hours and i average 6500 dmg and 10k healing per 10. also 61% accuracy. SHES SO GOOD
i also love that you mentioned being a hitscan player that plays cass, widow or soldier. because those are my mains. im GM dps

Mix of Sojourn and soldier. Has Soj charge shot. Take time, shoot. Has soldier healing kit. Ult is kinda mix too. Come OW3, this will be in dps category

I'm a dps player through and through. Illari is the first support I'm having fun on, and it's difficult to stop playing her because I'm enjoying it so much. The animations and kit are also badass. Kiriko is fun in theory but as a hitscan I'm not consistently getting value with her.

Illari has made OW fun and interesting again (for me at least). I was getting a bit tired of the game tbh, and hadn't played for 3-4 weeks. Decided to give OW one last chance in season 6 (as I am really waiting for Xdefiant #stoked).
I have almost 2 hours on Illari now, and she is just getting more and more fun. The new game mode was a bit too similar to KoH, but still, new maps and new ways to play are a good thing.
Looking forward to learn more Illari from playing her and watching your videos. Hopefully I will find some time to watch your twitch streams again too.

I see a nerf to the healing beacon coming, to be honest. It does soooo much healing and they just recently redid turrets to keep from getting so much free damage so I can't see this being any different.

While she's not as busted as I thought, she's still very strong. Probably justs needs minor number tweaks
I haven’t gotten to play her yet but she looks like she has a similar tempo to Hanzo like the timing between shots. I love playing support but idk if my play style will fit with her
She does have a similar tempo as hanzo BUT because instead of an animation thats in your face like hanzo pulling back the bow and the sound cue of him pulling back the bow, you either have to instinctively know OR look at Illari's meter before shooting if you want full dmg shots. Its just not quite as intuitive as hanzo unfortunately.
@@erickim1739agreed, but I've found there's a little sound cue, her gun flashes a little, and of course you've got the charge meters near your crosshair, so it's fairly well designed and has a few ways to show when you're fully charged. I think it's mostly a case of learning the timing, and learning not to left-click wildly under pressure.
@@ehibun I for sure understand the learning curve and i expected it. And the sound cue is barely audible during a fight, especially with how so many sounds are present in OW and how the vast majority of them are extremely important haha.

i feel like it will be strong for the reasons you just said, but you might get more value with like a discord or a nade with illari. Bap + illari is probably the best combo for having a good permanent value, but you can’t really do big engages like you would with a nade, a discord or something like that.
But yeah will still be a very strong combo in brawl and poke.

Pretty random but i think a cool hero idea would be someone who could duplicate themselves as their ult. WHen u do u get split screen of both perspectives. You could make it so that you control both simultaneously and the duplicate spawns whereever your aiming when u activate ur ult but its looking straight at the original caster. THan one dies u get pulled out of ur ult on whichever survived. Could be cool if ur abilities synergiezed with the ult. It might feel a bit wack but imagine having 2 angles to choose from in a team fight.
support has become so much more fun for me since illari release cuz I can actually do a lot more to help the team

She is def a great hero to learn! I wish I was better at aiming and dmg in general so I could play her best. An amazing flex for dmg mains.

She's so fun! One thing I'd say is maybe they should turn down her healing pylon's healing a bit. Maybe 30heals instead of 40 per pulse or slow it down. It's a bit too strong for an idle healer right now imo
I really don't understand why people think she's OP, she seems if anything like a weaker kiriko in practice.
Turret is strong in tight chokes or in qp, but in comp most of the time it will be dying on cooldown. Also the ult has a lot of potential but can also be countered far easier than something like kitsune which is just as game winning

I just think her ult after effect lasting 7 seconds is way too long personally. Maybe 4-5 would be better; or removing the slowing effect; or upping the damage to cause the explosion.
Right now it feels STUPID easy to get a lot of value from even a bad ult. She literally makes Doomfist’s ult literally worthless. Heck, she has a better ult than both Doomfist and Bastion put together

Bap and ana have been my mains. As soon as I unlock her (not too excited about the battle pass this season) I'll be maining her and bap. She seems super fun, her healing turret is really strong, especially in the low ranks I'm in. I think maybe the turret is the thing they'll change.
My DPS mains are ashe, tracer, sojourn, and yeah having that sojourn click on a support is very fun, and her blast feels a lot like ashe shotgun, just with less vertical movement. So much so the first times I played her on the no limits mode, I literally camera flicked to fling myself backwards before remembering you travel in the direction you hold
