      @Ben P The Saudi pilots weren't the primary cause of the disaster. Plus, they weren't the only ones at fault, specifically the ground crew who failed to open the doors for 23 minutes. On the other hand, the soviet pilots were wholly at fault for this accident.

      @@pascalxavier3367 this isn't murder. Murder is when you wake up in the morning knowing you're gonna crash the plane (see Germanwings 9525). This is involuntary manslaughter at best. Not that it really matters, the guy responsible is still dead.

    • @pascalxavier3367
      @pascalxavier3367 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fayeslover Precisely, I have serious doubts on the accident of the Germanwings; a pilot has pointed out plenty of abnormal things which discredit the theory of the copilot being responsible of the crash.
      That day, the americans were making tests with a laser gun on a target they had launched the eve, and the plane would have been caught in a laser shot, harming it, invalidating its commands, and causing its crash.
      They had to cover up their blunder by reporting the guilt on the copilot.
      There had already been a such incident before, with a plane making a very sudden fall, but, in this previous incident, the pilots had miraculously managed to recover the plane before it would crash.
      They would have tampered the black boxes before they would be found.

    It's one thing to let your kids sit at the controls when the plane is off and on the ground. But why would you risk your own life and the lives of the people on board to give your kids 2 minutes of fun?
    My mom's got a friend that's a pilot, and his kids fly with him all the time. Sometimes, they sit in the jump seat, but that's it. His kids think it's awesome that their dad is a pilot, and they'd never ask, nor would he ever let them sit in the captain's seat during a flight.

      this isn't about love for your kids; this is about a responsibility to uphold safety when you have other people's lives in your hands.
      so this father loves his kids more than i do? his "love" cost his kids their lives. i love my kids enough not to put them in danger.
      so i don't love my kids because i won't let them fly a plane when there are other passengers? what if i let them drive my car in an empty parking lot afterwards though?

      Blair Group so pilots should allow their kids to play with the airplane while the plane is full of innocent passengers and put those lives at risk. you spoil your child with gifts toys and money . you don't let them do things that pit others lives in danger. this father killed every person on that plane. do you not understand that his children are now dead because he allowed them to play with the plane . spoiling his kids cost them their lives . what about all the children who lost their parents because they died on that plane. those children grew up without their parents . I hope you don't have children because with your beliefs they will be a danger to our planet . would you really let your children fly an airplane they did not know anything about while you had passengers on board. how do you not see how wrong this man was to allow this .

      Rooster Cogburn well, at least since then all our pilots are prohibited to let anyone into cockpit. Even pilots NEVER exit it until the end of flight. So, when Chechen terrorists tried to make something like 9/11 (in 2001 too, but prior to those events, to be honest) in our country, they weren't able to get into cockpit and just diverted the plane to Saudi Arabia where they landed it and subsequently were shot or apprehended by Saudi special forces. I am a private pilot. My instructor was a 63 year old crop duster and retired commercial pilot. That was in back 1977. and I was 17 at the time. He had been flying for forty + years. If there is one thing he taught me, pay attention to your situation at all times, forget the damn automation, and fly the damn airplane, don't let it fly you. It's rather obvious that these pilots lacked the basic flight skills and relied too heavily on the automation. If they had just turned off the damned autopilot when the "unexpected turn" commenced, gotten the plane back on course, then re-engaged, this could have all been avoided. I realize that today these systems are pervasive and sometimes hard to override (i.e. 737 Max leaps to mind) but today's pilots simply allow their basic skills to become secondary to their reliance on the automation.

When Eldar turned the plane to the right, he pulled too hard which caused the autopilot to turn off as a safety measure. When the pilot’s took control of the plane, it too prevented the autopilot from turning back on due to their efforts. Ironically had the pilots just let go of the control column, the autopilot would turned back on and leveled the plane, preventing the crash.

    Flight hours mean nothing when the pilots lack training, education, and basic knowledge of how to fly a jet without any instruments. A person with a single engine Cessna visual pilots license knows how to recover from a stall. This is basic. Looks like the pilots had all of their flight hours and training on 'AUTOPILOT' and they got a zero on that cause if they even knew autopilot, they would have known the plane would have recovered via autopilot if they had done nothing...... 10:25 So technically speaking it was not Eldar (the kid) that crashed the plane, but the erroneous handling from the co pilot. Had the co pilot been more gentle with his handling, they would have avoided the disaster. Perhaps it was a mistake that Eldar gave the steering column to the 'experienced' copilot with the 9000+ hours of flight.
    In any case, what the kid caused was to deploy a situation that revealed that the two pilots were unable to handle it from lack of experience in HAND flying.
    PS: the stupidity of the pilot who let his kids into the cockpit that defines the life expectancy of people cannot be described.

    • @DavidThomas-sv1tk
      @DavidThomas-sv1tk 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I suspect they still had hundreds of hours of hand-flying various aircraft, but the modern practice of inputting routes to an autopilot and letting it fly the plane decreases pilots' awareness of the plane's attitude and the positions of its controls. Also, the auto-pilot is so good at co-ordinated turns (which keep the pax's drinks from sliding off their tray tables), unintentional banking and turns are hard to discern. How many of these accidents would have been avoided if the first response to confusing auto-pilot behavior was to immediately disengage the autopilot and hand fly the aircraft straight and leave for a while? Of course, you can never really hand fly an Airbus because it'll insist on doing certain un-commanded actions. Which, in this case - if everyone had just left the cockpit and taken a coffee break - apparently would have dealt with the situation.

      NotMyFirstDay: No that's not the only point. Anyone can do a but/for test and isolate one factor and seize upon it as if it's everything. The fact is that unforeseen things happen all the time and competent pilots handle them. This time it was an unnoticed disengagement of the autopilot (what if one of the crew had accidentally done it?), another time it could be a faulty instrument reading, a missed flap check, etc. While I agree that visitors should not be in the cockpit, in this case the boy DID NOT "crash" the plane. The crew was not paying attention. Otherwise one of them would have simply corrected the autopilot, and as you say, it would have landed safely. Even if it weren't corrected immediately, a competent crew wouldn't have sat there in bewilderment over what was happening and what to do.

      In the video they said G-forces didn't allow the pilots to take back controls, they were stranded in their seats, probably couldn't even raise their arms (only fighter pilots are trained to control a plane in high Gs), only the kid had his hands already on the controls... but still even after that, they could had easily regained control of the plane when G-forces were lower.

    • @AirCatAviation

      True. I do blame the pilots for not watching him properly, but I still find it a stupid decision to let a KID in the cockpit of a commercial airliner full of paying passengers, and then let him ‘feel’ like he is moving it. It was obviously going to end badly, it is such a high risk, and I simply no not agree with it. Children should only be allowed into the cockpit when the aircraft is on the ground on stand, unless something else (a cockpit flight) is booked. Family, relatives or what it doesn’t make a difference. No kids in the cockpit of a flying commercial airplane full of PAX. Simple.

    • @velkoivanov9155

      Letting the kids "turn left" is somewhat careless, but not that fatal just by itself. Letting the plane turn to nearly 90 degree bank and not touching anything is a whole lot of strange, considering the maximum bank angle under AP should be less than 30 degrees, but there is another thing I can't wrap my head around - how a trained pilot with 9000 hours and 800 on the aircraft, or any licensed pilot for that matter, overcorrects a dive all the way to vertical ?

    • @worldlinerai
      @worldlinerai 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The video doesn't mention, but the A310 was a relatively new jet for Aeroflot around that time so pilots didn't know what was going on with the autopilot. The relief captain believed that the autopilot was flying the plane instead of the child and the only sign of manual control for the ailerons was a red flash on the panel which can go unnoticed by the pilots.
      Even though Aeroflot chose their top pilots to fly the then-new A310, it doesn't mean they have full knowledge of the avionics, especially since this is their first series with many computers and automation. The accident investigation also found one feature that could have used to save the jet from diving... the anti-stall system. The pilots just had to let go of the control stick to allow the anti-stall system to activate. It's sad that none of Aeroflot's pilots knew about it before this crash.
