    The more I re-watch the later seasons the more I like them. I still think Winds of Winter will be a better book if and when it's released. The main plot issues people have with this season are still to come, and while I understand them and agree to some extent, the show did OK with what they were contractually compelled to work with.

      Agreed I think the book ending will be much more satisfying because the journeys will be fleshed out. Also… They had better versions of the show characters like book Euron for example. I also was looking forward to seeing more connected to the Maester at the citadel that was working with magic. I forget his name now but o remember it possibly tying in to the long running conspiracy theory that the maesters had been trying to weaken the Targs and magic in general since early days beyond HOTD

      The other houses did band together at Winterfell as did some Wildlings. Nights Watch don't bother with Houses do they? I may be incorrect in all the lore here. But I think Jon brought a lot of people together. Wildlings fighting alongside anyone from south of the wall? Unheard of. And the Nights watch coming down to join? I may not be correct in the lore for all but I think Jon got a lot of people to come together. People that normally would not have.

    I liked that Arya killed the Night King. It would have been to cliche and trite if Jon did it. Arya's entire story arc from the first moments we saw her was being a good fighter and becoming a better fighter. Even though I don't like this Season due to what followed this episode. Arya killing the Night King was very poetic. When her father was about to be executed, she wasn't able to get through a crowd to save him. now due to her training she was able to maneuver through the crowd and save her brother from being executed. And she used all her training to do it. The Hound showing her where the heart is, the stealth of the faceless men, switching the blade to the other hand with Brianne, catching the blade with her dancing master. Throughout the entire series she was constantly meeting people who were teaching her how to fight and kill. Loved this moment.

Imo one of the greatest villains of all time, someone I loved to hate (Cersei), and she dies by some rocks falling on top of her head? Really? Cersei tied up after being captured by Daenerys, Arya comes in the empty room, doesn't say a word. Pulls out a violin and plays the Rains of Castamere as Cersei realizes her end in near. Then Arya gives her the Littlefinger special across the throat would have been better. Oh well.

    Arya killing the NK makes so much sense. Think about it: The NK is death. Arya has LITERALLY been worshipping the god of death since season 1. She’s been training to kill since season 1. Jon, the prince that was promised, was the FIRST to arm her. It made sense!

Everywhere she went…death followed! If she didn’t do the actual killing, she was present for major deaths throughout the show. Arya brought death to NK

    It would've been too obvious if Jon killed the Night King. Also, only someone with stealthy assassin skills like Arya could've killed him. Jon did everything he could till that point for 8 straight seasons. He's the main reason they won. The dead dragon was protecting the passage to where Bran and the Night King were and Jon couldn't do anything because he's not a superhero. People forget that Bran gave Arya the dagger because he knew she was the one who will make the final blow.

Also, Jon's destiny was always to end up North of the Wall, to become the King beyond the wall. He was always the outcast and his story is far from over. Jon was the prince that was promised. The dagger with the prophecy inscription Viserys showed Rhaenyra & then Arya uses, says "From my blood comes the prince who was promised and his will be the song of ice and fire". Jon is a Targaryen and heir to the throne. The prophecy says a king or queen strong enough to unite the realm to defeat the cold and the dark. Jon did exactly that. People just assumed the prophecy means Jon will kill the night king and then become king of the seven kingdoms.

    And here is the moment I propose my widely hated but still very plausible ARYA/THE WAIF Theory.
    Since the moment she entered the room with The Waif and the lights went out, Arya is a different character. I propose that Arya did not kill The Waif, but the opposite, and The Waif assumed her identity as her role in service of the Many Face God. Arya had not completed training to become No One. The Waif had. Arya had not served but rather defied the Many Face God... repeatedly. The Waif said... You Promised to Jacquen. When "Arya" returned, he said, At Last A Girl Is No One.
    Arya DID NOT POSSESS these fighting skills. Her entire demeanor in the following seasons becomes and remains that of The Waif... not of Arya Stark. The way she speaks, holds her head, her entire demeanor has changed. It is EXACTLY like that of The Waif previously.
    I propose that GRRM wrote this twist into the original script, but the reveal was nixed because it would have been HATED by the Fandom.
    I keep hoping that one day the theory finds its way back to GRRM for a chance at either confirmation or denial.

    The prince that was promised had nothing to do with the Nighking. In fact, the Nightking wasn't even in the books. The Nightking was not a main character either. He had 5 minutes of screen time in the whole series, I think Arya had more screen time in just one episode. In fact the dagger had more screen time then the Nightking. George is trying to have it both ways, in 2 different shows. Remember King Vaesarys holding onto the precious dagger, mentioning "The prince that was promised." The same precious dagger that was in the hands of a common assassin, as if that was the only thing that can kill Bran & all the wise men of Winterfell happened to be born yesterday, because they never put up a red flag as to why an assassin would have the dagger & who would be that stupid to lend it to leave a crumb trail to themselves.

    That thing with them going to get a white walker was how the writers could get away with giving the night king a dragon . That’s the only reason they did that cause like you guys said otherwise that would’ve never happened

    One would think with Bran's ability to Worg, he would've found some animals to contribute to the fight. All he does is sit with his eyes rolled back and "watching" with ravens. Seriously? The writers could've given him more of a role in the fight than the bait.

    In the books it’s heavily implied that Jon is Azor Ahai. The prince that was promised. The books needed when Jon was stabbed and died at castle black…That’s where the books ended, so we’ve been waiting for 10 years to find out what happens next. In my opinion Theon, Jamie and the Sandor have the best character arcs in the show. Theon redeemed himself defending Bran. As far as Jamie and Sandor I won’t spoil it.

    Arya is NOT the main character. The showrunners admitted they took the NK kill away from Jon to “subvert expectations” (meaningful story be damned), but the real reason was that the wanted the new Star Wars franchise and the SW producers made it known they were all about the Me Too girl power bandwagon. So now we are left with this travesty. Btw, the Prince Who Was Promised can only be a Targaryen, as finally confirmed by George in HotD. People who think the mention in HotD was retconning, are mistaken; it was a corrective of one of the worst storytelling screwups of all time.

    Not sure anyone told you the rule but if you aren’t on screen you can’t die. So everyone survived by the cutaway shot. 5 undead coming for Dany? Cut away. Brienne about to die? Cutaway. Its all good. 🙄 pretty sure a child could have made better battle plans. Crypts? Good idea. Yes our enemy raises the dead but… you can’t think of everything. Can’t even watch this shit with reactions.

    You really think season 7 episode 6 was the dopiest for trying to capture one of the dead?
    My top 5 dopiest moments were:
    1- The dagger of all daggers, the most precious dagger in Westoros was in the hands of a nobody assassin to kill Bran. It was so stupid, that the writing had to make the wisest men in Winterfell to appear like clowns, for never questioning on why would a high lord lend such a rare weapon to leave a crumb trail to himself, it's not as if it was the only weapon that can kill Bran. Was there even another Vaelaryan Steel Dagger left in all of Westoros?
    2- Mance telling Jon that he sent 400 Wildlings to climb a deserted stretch of the wall not far from Castle Black, after he learned how weak the defenses were. Ever hear how the 50 remaining leaderless men at Castle Black defeated the 400 Wildlings? Why bother mentioning it in the show, if you don't follow up on what happened? Stannis & Jon arrive at Castle Black without any evidence that a new battle went on.
    3- Syrio Ferel the supposed Dancing Master who forgot to pick up a steel sword off the ground to take on Sir Meryn Trant who was in armor, instead, he took 3 steps forward with a wooden sword. Just one episode removed from when Bronn took on an armored knight in the Vale, danced around the knight, picked at his weak points & whooped his ass. Dancing Master or dancing fool?
    4-The Unsullied, masters of the short sword & the long spear. Patrolled Mereen, a city with narrow streets, armed with long spears. Long spears are useless in hand to hand combat in tight quarters. Does one become a master of a weapon when they don't know when to properly use it? Grey worm should of been fired for not making sure that they were armed with short swords, on why they got their asses kicked with guys in masks. This was sort of like the Navy Seals getting whooped by Somali pirates in combat.
    5- The end of season 2, Sam cowering behind a rock, steps away from a Whitewalker on a horse, who calls out the charge. The start of season 3, the Night's Watch put the finishing touches on the undead. The million dollar question was, for what possible reason would the Whitewalker retreat? The Night's watch did not possess any Valaryan Steel, fire doesn't work on Whitewalkers & it wasn't till episodes later that Sam kills the first Whitewalker in thousands of years, using Dragonglass, ONLY AFTER using his regular sword that just shattered on him. Sort of like Superman taking off the moment he sees people with a butter knife.

    "how do they continue the season after this" was what we all thought at the time... this episode was mostly good, but frankly the ending was a big WTF and then the rest of the season took a big tumble into a flaming shit pile after this hahaha. This episode was impossible to watch without turning the brightness up. I actually paused it, turned the brightness way up, then restarted it.

    Sadly, GoTs story line was changed by the HBO directors to reflect today's modern "girl power" nonsense and greatly diminished the death of the Night King by having him killed by Arya. Jon Snow is the prince that was promised. So many series today and movies have been completely ruined by the woke nonsense.

    • @ptolover7
      @ptolover7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      To me, it didn't even have to be Jon as long as it made any sense at all. It being Arya felt a little to random to be a satisfying payoff to me

    • @KelliFranklin
      @KelliFranklin 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Jesus Christ...it had zero to do with wokeness. It was just shitty writing. I bet you were apoplectic at the end of season 6 when it appeared it was going to be a showdown for the Iron Throne between Cersei and Dany. I don't understand why the idea of inclusivity brings out people's inner bigotry.

    • @ptolover7
      @ptolover7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The "girl power" thing is definitely not woke or feminist, it's this empty attempt to seem all enlightened by just inserting a girl or woman into some cool or powerful moment, rather than writing a story which naturally includes or builds to moments where women or girls are powerful or are the heroes. The complaint is more that with a couple of very minor in-episode adjustments, it could have been anyone that took out the Night King and it would have roughly the same or better payoff, but it felt like they chose Arya because she's a girl boss and not because it made sense. It's just lazy.
      Edit: Ope, I missed their last line where they definitely whined about wokeness. Adjusted that bit of my comment since it's not applicable

    • @ptolover7
      @ptolover7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @360recaps True, I did miss the last line so the commenter's intent isn't what I thought. I still think their garbage writing was an example of shoehorning just anyone into the role of the hero and landing on Arya because she was a "bad bitch", so I'm standing by the rest of it
