Xbox 360 = Sega Genesis (awesome)
Xbox One = Sega Saturn (console itself is good but poor marketing and lack of exclusives ruins it)

Completely agreed. I would have gladly purchased because I’m not a heavy gamer as I once was so I don’t like dropping the cash. Sales and second hand is my way to go. So I think a much cheaper version would have actually been business savvy. Now I’m just gonna give my money to random dude from eBay.
People underestimate how cheap it is. It has a REGULAR Bluray drive in it, not a 4k. A regular bluray drive is like $50 anyways? If this was the X1X without a 4k bluray drive. You'd have a point.

Exactly. I see some comments here of, "You don't have to buy it!". I saw the same comments when loot boxes came out. There are a lot of corporate apologist gamers out there. But this is Microsoft testing the waters before next gen. Seeing what it can get away with since they're moving towards an all digital future. Consumers have every right to complain, and those complaints often make a company better.

It's only pointless cause of when it released. They did this as a throwaway and to establish the concept of a diskless variant to help budget the price. But it would have made more sense if they had just had the balls to release it on the X1's original release or midway like the X1X.

I just picked one up for 150$ and sold the games inside on eBay for around half the price of the console! Great deal.

@@danny200mph5 At least online they do. I don't know about real stores. They think fumbling around with it for 10 minutes in a store is equal to testing it out for 2 whole weeks in the privacy of your home. It's not like you can benchmark a PC in the store for example.
@@danny200mph5 over the years I have become a master at unboxing and using equipment and restoring it back to its perfectly box condition that can be nearly impossible to detect it has ever been used. I colloquially named this the Walmart rental, of course you can do it at other stores as well. It came in handy when they broadcast the Super Bowl in 3D. Also took the opportunity to play Black Ops 3D as well. That was a nice weekend with my excellent 3D TV rental. And of course you get the full price back when you return the TV unless it's a store that has a 15% return fee, but that is usually on higher-end items such a specialty cameras Etc, but if you need such a device and you're willing to pay the 15% you basically have a rental system. Be respectful treat the product well and return it in the best condition possible. happy Walmart rentals everyone

That is the cheaper version, just like Series S. Regular Ps5 competes with Series X.
I prefer digital, but I don't see the point in this either. It is like Dead Rising 3 is $30 on the Xbox store cause only the Apocalypse/Complete version with all dlc is available for purchase. I just want the regular version. So I can get a used physical copy for $5-$10. That's why I opted for the One S regular version. This thing is like the Genesis Model 3 edition. It wasn't needed.

Digital only wasn't the problem. It was that, for a 3 year old system to get a "digital version", it could at least have been made smaller and cost a hundred dollars less. It barely even cost less

If it was a lot cheaper then it would be a good idea for people who don't buy disc. But even people who don't buy disc sometimes will end up with a disc buy been bought one or renting a disc, or just seeing a really good deal on a disc.
I don't know if it's because i'm older but I enjoy collecting games and having towers of games. Perfect example when I got Witcher 3 it had a soundtrack CD, stickers, thank you note and dope limited packaging. You won't get to experience that with this trash and have cool collectibles for years to come. This is a sad product that takes a lot of the fun out of buying a game out of the equation.

Yeah... Who cares about that console. It's stupid and there will be returns on it because people don't read and they are idiots. But returning consoles fluffs sales and makes it seem like there are more out there than there is. Remember the RROD of Xbox 360? Remember how much Microsoft was killing it, literally, in the 7th Gen because people kept returning that damn broken Xbox 360. Good way to make the sales seem more relevant.... At the expense of your customers.

It is/was super cheap at $149 over Christmas holiday. Totally worth it at that price. No more clutter of game discs, or scratched/ruined discs. Being a PC gamer, I haven’t purchased a physical game in about 10 years. Other than the initial price point, it’s a good system. I guess that’s what all of the fuss was about when it launched.
If it was half the price... It would actually be worth it. Funny enough this was what Microsoft wanted to put out when the Xbox One first came out if people have already forgotten.

@@Marlin3798 no, it's the eject. Go watch Spawnwave's teardown. All the internal ports for the disk drive are still in the system too. They literally just recased a Xbox One S without the disk drive and updated the firmware. It's all the same hardware.

I’m gonna miss gaming on a budget. I’d buy games off first day buyers fairly cheap, finish the game then sell it for more than I paid or for a tiny loss depending. The profits on some id tally up and it would cover the few I lost money on. I also got into buying older games on disc and selling them for profit to collectors. I’m going to miss those times, I still do it now 13 years later :(

As someone who'd rather buy physical games and movies, this serves no purpose to me. Yes, I know that you can stream basically anything these days but I prefer owning my movies.

The bit rate for physical movies is much higher than streaming. It looks so much better. I don't understand how it doesn't bother people.
God forbid you have a data cap and are restricted to using Netflix or Hulu to binge a show when you own the fucking series on bluray, seriously what fuckwad thought up this console and didn't think to make it smaller and make it be able to fit in a backpack or something to take to a friend's house then charge more for it than the disc drive version? The disc eject button is still on the board under the cover. And you can not just add a disc drive because the disk drives are coded with a chip that gets programed with the motherboard.

The disk drive doesn't weigh anything. It's 90% plastic and 10% really thin aluminum. Pick up a CD player ( if you still have one ) and that's about how much the XBOX One disc drive weighs. Heatsink, motherboard, fan, HDD and AC adapter are all still in there.
Probably mostly the AC power. Those things get heavy and the OG X1 had a really beefy external one. SO if it's anywhere close to that yikes

The eject button is actually still there under the case. I saw one taken apart earlier on another channel. you can even plug in a disc drive an it spins etc but It won’t play games, maybe dvds etc would work tho.

Which is still a few cents more than I paid for my XBOX One S 1 TB around last Christmas new from the retailer. Only that I live in Germany where tech is somewhat expensive compared to the US.
They included this forza game that is now over 2 years old. Why not the latest one?

With the way they've been with previous games, the game will probably be delisted from their digital store next year and the servers shutdown too.
The crappy thing with this too is that it's just the basic game, none of the DLC is included like the Hot Wheels DLC that came with my S model(Holiday 2017 bundle).
This system is mainly good for people who actually buy games from the game console itself and it’s also good so you don’t have to buy discs and worry about misplacing the discs or them getting stolen or wrecked or even scratched or even if you have a dog that chews up your stuff. But I don’t mind either disc or disc less and I love both PlayStation and Xbox even though I’m kinda new to the Xbox .

Great video, I agree completely. Microsoft could have done so much more with this, think if they could have gotten it to near GameCube size? Like you said it would have been kind of like a Switch that people could have transported easily.
Except gamecube was mocked and made fun of for its size and everyone said it was stupid to have a handle and it looked like a lunchbox. The gamecube kinda failed they are not going to try and copy anything it did. Small systems in America are viewed as week why do you think the original xbox one was so fing big. It was mostly empty air. It was done to trick people into thinking it was more then it was. Backfired as they went too big wich is also not liked. Theres a very small window in the size of a system that is actually easy to market.

Nah that's worse cuz the only thing they removed here is the disc drive. That has one but removed internet, component video, and GameCube support.
I feel like their is a certain charm to the Wii Mini with its design and simplistic feel due to it being a physical only console but the Xbox One SAD isn’t charming or much different to the Xbox One S aside from the removal of the blu Ray Drive

Argubly better then a built in battery since when those batteries wear out, you need a new controller.
A battery pack can just be replaced for $20.
Question: can't they work if plugged in via USB, regardless of the battery's state (I'm talking about controllers in general, not specifically of the Xbox controller)?

Only the oldest of technology had power issues even if plugged in. At one time the battery supplied the power and the cord charged the battery, but if the battery was really damaged or dead it wouldnt take power so the device wouldnt power on.
Thats long been worked around these days so that shouldnt be a problem anymore.

Lmao if you pop it open, it literally still has a working eject button 😂😂 and all the ports on the inside are exactly the same.
They also need to tone down the vibration on their next controller. Also making so triggers to act as a slide leading you to pressing the bumpers by mistake.

Most stores will take returns that have been opened including Best Buy, Target, Walmart etc. You can probably still return it.
Black Ops 4 came out, I went to Redbox to rent the disc to try the game out thinking that I would be able to load the disc and play the game rather than wait on the download. Lo and behold you put the disc in and it immediately takes you to a download screen saying it wants to download 76 GB, which is the entire game, so what that point the disk is really irrelevant. When the majority of the games are DLC is the disc really anything other than a placeholder and an annoyance. I can switch between digital content on the fly without having to get up and grab the disc and put it in which is only just a placeholder for a license. regardless of what was originally on the disc the majority of the games exist post disc. Unless of course you're willing to play what originally comes on the disc without ever connecting your system to the internet or updating.

i feel like the developers from call of duty who remastered bo4 maps and changed the setting from day to night on like 3 maps had some part in making this xbox console. I don’t understand what they were going for, as well as those 3 games included are all free on game pass when game pass costs $1 for 3 months currently

2019 still got dam batteries. The reason I’m complaining is batteries are not cheap and some say they are rechargeable batteries well then why not Microsoft just put a lithium battery in the controller and just recharge the controller those batteries last for ever.

I still use an X360 Elite gamepad on my PC and with a PS4 using a ChronusMax, I have 5000Mah of battery power with two Duracell AA batteries that lasts up to a month before a charge is needed. For around 20$ I got a pack of 4 AA 2500Mah each batteries with the wall charger all in one from Walmart.

Ha, ha, ha. You do realize that Valve and Microsoft are completely different right ? Microsoft has the second most overpriced games on their marketplace next to Nintendo. Nintendo definitely has the most overpriced games at $60 for nearly everything and their great savings sales of 10% off. Right now, Dead Rising 3:Apocalypse edition is the only version that you can buy and it is $30 as a freaking One launch game. That's why I got the One S regular version where I can get games like that for $10 brand new.
