@martonefv it does have it, the FM Transmitter is a native app :) when you are already playing a song or playlist. click on options u will see "FM Transmitter"
@StylinRed Hi, glad u liked the video. On your question... it may sound like the audio quality is really good from this video but overall i'd say it's average. A bluetooth may or may not be better, but the FM Transmitter does lack in the sense that it doesn't like being moved about. If u often move your phone about or move it to different points in the car, u can tell that the sound changes a little bit. Best to place it nearest to where your antenna is is what I found. But overall its cool. :)
Radio transmitting is closely regulated in some countries - the sale of phones with the ability to transmit fm radio is prohibited in several countries. There hardware, however, is mostly the same. You can probably flash the phone in order to make it believe it was sold for another country...
@asefaskerov Another way to find the FM Transmitter is to go to your Music Player. Play a song, and under options of Now Playing, you'll find the FM Transmitter :)
@gavrilaeugen u mean the onboard speaker playing music? You can hear a quick demo of it at 2:42. It's quite loud, but bare in mind that the speaker is 'under' the phone near where the camera unit is, so it may get muffled a bit if unless u place the phone upside down.
@sid669907 Good question Sid, I actually didn't try that combination. But since the FM Transmitter works in the background. For example, you can use SMS, Camera or other apps while the FM Transmitter is working... it SHOULD also work together with Ovi Maps.
@AutoTVmy got info from others user for other nokia models, the N97 and N900 have stereo transmittion, so the N8 should be stereo as the hardware profile is about match the N97
@PhantomAct Yes but the transmitting range is only two meters, and your neighbours would have to be on the same frequency, that you are transmitting on.
@elphau Hi there, its actually going to be out very very soon. I don't know a specific date but its supposed to be out this month. As for the estimated price, I have no official figure yet, but its going to be very well priced apparently. I am as excited to know as u are :)
@HiPpOLooo unfortunately, you cannot. It is like streaming via bluetooth. the Radio/Bluetooth device is only receiving, the controls will still have to be operated on the mobile phone itself.
@ngoi5317 Hi, thanks for the support. As for the launch date, I hear that it's in a matter of weeks. As for Symbian^3 it's really good. Very fast and smooth, no complaints at all. The loud speaker is ok too, except that it is behind the phone and not in front.
@papalolita it's pretty good, depending what u do with it. On the FM Transmitter side, a 100% fully charged phone will drop 1 bar after about 2 hours of FM Transmitter being on. If you have an in car charge, problem solved :)
@bongky18 It's going to be launched soon, so until then there is no confirmed price and you can't buy it until the launch date. Not much longer to wait, so don't worry :)
@GlobalDVC Hmm, what u propose is interesting. But despite how 'clear' the N8 FM transmitter may sound in my video, it really isn't good when u move more than a few feet away or if u are somewhere open air with lots of interference. My suggestion is to use a cordless mic that is bluetooth enabled. You can get a bluetooth mic + receiver that u can jack into a recorder, so u can walk around with the Mic and leave the receiver jacked into the recorder, very good quality. But slightly shorter range.
@sid669907 just my experience. i am using n86 now. the fm transmitter does NOT transmit the voice navigation if you use ovi maps. however, it does if you use Garmin. I don't know why.
@martonefv that would be very strange, I suggest you check at a Nokia Center. Cos the FM Transmitter is not so much an app, but a piece of HARDWARE that is build INTO your phone. Maybe just the icon is missing.
thanks for posting this video and also thank you for your reply on my comment. can't wait to get one as soon as it's release!! BTW im malaysian too, cool man.
@dagnut I wish I could answer that, but I've never owned an N97 so I don't know how loud it is. But I do strongly believe that the N8 should be quicker than the N97. It doesn't have a faster processor for one thing.
@gabriellovesmusic me too ! i totally agree with you. before i bought my n86, i was eyeing on e72, but i ruled that out since it doesn't have fm transmitter. it is THAT convenient.
@sklchan No where does it say if its stereo or mono, but I think it won't make sense for Nokia to use processing power to convert an stereo music file into mono before broadcasting but your guess is as good as mine since its not officially stated anywhere on paper.
@kirasasuke87 It's not officially out yet. So you can't buy it right now... but you'll be able to VERY soon :) As for price... all I can say is that you'll be sweetly surprised :)
@suspectajt in terms of itnerface, the N8 is definitely more fluid as compared to the Satio. But I only used the Satio briefly, so I'm not 100% sure about the difference of camera quality. But I would think that the N8 is 'probably' better? The N8 doesn't have a video light though, the Satio does.
Hi thanks for the video; what can you say about the FM Transmitter audio quality compared with the BT connection? typically the FM transmission doesnt sound as good as BT but the audio quality in your video made it sound exceptionally well
Hi everyone, I thought I'd put up this list of Nokia phones that also have the FM Transmitter feature; since almost everyone thinks that this is a feature found in only the N97. If you are really looking for a phone with an FM Transmitter you can even try the N86, N85 and even the super old N78. Lots of choices but of course the N8 is cool in a lot more ways too :) Check out my blog post for an even more complete list.
@gavrilaeugen Hmm, never owned the N95 either, so I dare not make a comparison. But you are right, when I played the music at 2:42 it is not on the loudest setting yet. It can still go louder by maybe 30%.
Hi, good review from you. Any idea about the launching date in Malaysia? Do you think the Symbian^3 is a bit sluggish and how about the loud speaker? Is it louder enough? Thx
@1971ELLIOTT Hi again Eliott, I tried what u suggested. Unfortunately, when u load up Ovi Maps, the FM Transmitter shuts off. So I guess u can't use it to broadcast the voice directions.
You can't buy some new FM transmitter for cars but you need to buy a new Nokia N8, it works on your car radios. It works also in 80s car radios and even your analog radio! xD
@LoveJesusLoveJehovah I completely agree. But when there is no other choice, barring changing my head unit which has no audio input options, this will have to do for me. :)
@xavierid I own a N91 but don't own an iPhone. But when compared to the N91 I think it's not that different thought I can't really say who is better. I normally use standard iPod headphones and not the ones that come bundled with the phone so... yeah..
@1087toni we do have a few more N8 videos u can check out on our channel. But do feel free to ask if u have any question about the N8. Will be glad to help :)
@marlenehoang Hi, since this is a key N8 feature, your N8 should have this function. Try looking for the FM Transmitter app, it is an app that is preinstalled in your phone. Hope that helps :)
@PhantomAct Well as the broadcast range is probably only a meter or so... you'll have to literally camp outside our neigbours door for it to have any effect :P
It's a nice feature to have but I find the audio quality to be poor. It's muffled and lacks clarity. Much better to use the 3.5mm jack than this for playing music if that's an option!
@feeltch For voice navigation, Nokia already has a pretty good (and free) voice navigation in Ovi Maps. U should give that a try, its a free software anyway. I do not believe u can make effective phone calls with the FM Transmitter either, because it only broadcasts, it cannot receive. Unless its a one sided phone call? :P
@AutoTVmy yeah I think so, this or the E7 anyway. It's so hard to choose a new phone these days. I like Android but the battery life of every new Android phone is appalling, and I love Nokia anyway.
Nice demo of one of the 'forgotten' features of the N8. Thanks!
@martonefv it does have it, the FM Transmitter is a native app :) when you are already playing a song or playlist. click on options u will see "FM Transmitter"

But overall its cool. :)
@PhantomAct Hi there, the N8 does play live natively. It's Flash Lite 4.0 enabled :)
N86 had this feature years ago, probably one of the most reliable phones I've ever owned.
Radio transmitting is closely regulated in some countries - the sale of phones with the ability to transmit fm radio is prohibited in several countries. There hardware, however, is mostly the same. You can probably flash the phone in order to make it believe it was sold for another country...
@fifileng No prob man, glad you liked it :)
@asefaskerov Another way to find the FM Transmitter is to go to your Music Player. Play a song, and under options of Now Playing, you'll find the FM Transmitter :)

Is it possible to simultaneously listen to music with the FM-transmitter and using the navigation app?
@AutoTVmy got info from others user for other nokia models, the N97 and N900 have stereo transmittion, so the N8 should be stereo as the hardware profile is about match the N97
@PhantomAct Yes but the transmitting range is only two meters, and your neighbours would have to be on the same frequency, that you are transmitting on.

@James Smith yes, it is pretty possible with the phone multi tasking capability.
@AutoTVmy thanks for replying...
@GlobalDVC Hmm, what u propose is interesting. @neomarinengineer It is not yet available for consumer purchase in Malaysia. But will be soon :)
Hope the N9 will have it too!

@1989bigal It's not technically out in my country yet. About another 2 weeks to go before commercial launch.
@AutoTVmy welcome to 18 moths ago... this feature is on the n97!
@sklchan No where does it say if its stereo or mono, but I think it won't make sense for Nokia to use processing power to convert an stereo music file into mono before broadcasting but your guess is as good as mine since its not officially stated anywhere on paper.
@zzzzrb It will transmit any sound from any application from your phone.
@kirasasuke87 It's not officially out yet. So you can't buy it right now... but you'll be able to VERY soon :)
As for price... all I can say is that you'll be sweetly surprised :)

Loved the video! thanks! And hopefully with the new Symbian update the other aspects will be improved... such as the browser
@ooi123456 The Nokia N8 is actually not out yet. But it will be available very very VERY soon. :)
@fifileng I'm here in Malaysia, and no the phone isn't out yet. But it will be launched globally very soon. It's worth the wait, trust me :)
@AutoTVmy Hey! forgot to let u knw that i'd already got N8 last october. worth the wait.
@deepak696 yup, it sure can :) One of our other videos demonstrates this. Check it out.
this app is in widgets , in apps , or in music player
i got an n86 1years old, with16GB sd card store almost 2000 songs~ 320kbps~ really clear in my Car with fm transmitter ~~ Nice~
@urpis99 the Dolby Digital audio only through the HDMI connection.
Can you use the FM transmitter in maps, so you get voice directions through your car stereo speakers?
@everthinghardcore Well it should. The range so far for decent sound is about a meter or two.
@xavierid When you do give it a try, maybe u can let us know so we can update our blog post with that additional bit of info :)
@SteffenBrauner isn't it? I always loved this feature, was dissapointed that the N97 Mini didn't have it.
hey in my N8 there`s no FM transmitter in menu...application/tools/fm tr.....?
help me pls...Made in finl...
Am aslo curious to know what will be the range/distance to transmit audio, can i use in my house from another/next room.
@urpis99 Dolby Digital audio only through the HDMI connection.
for some reason my phone cant pick up the the signal that well i have to like stick it right next to the radio..... any ideas man ???????
Hi thanks for the video; what can you say about the FM Transmitter audio quality compared with the BT connection? typically the FM transmission doesnt sound as good as BT but the audio quality in your video made it sound exceptionally well
u miss out the MOST IMPORTANT part, are the N8 FM transmitting in STEREO or MONO???
thank you man, really usefull video, now i'm more anxious to get mine
Can it also transmit sound/audio while playing a video file?
Hi everyone, I thought I'd put up this list of Nokia phones that also have the FM Transmitter feature; since almost everyone thinks that this is a feature found in only the N97. @funnntasy Only a few meters at best. Great for use in the car but it doesn't go much further than that.
Thx
does this have the final software ? because this looks a lot smoother
@1971ELLIOTT Hi again Eliott, I tried what u suggested. Unfortunately, when u load up Ovi Maps, the FM Transmitter shuts off. So I guess u can't use it to broadcast the voice directions.
@obizz1234 Yes it does! :) This is what consumers would be buying. It's not a prototype.
is the n79 having a lousier sound than n85 when it plays wit fm trans .
hi,,where you buy the n8? america or europe? its come from finland? thanks
You can't buy some new FM transmitter for cars but you need to buy a new Nokia N8, it works on your car radios. It works also in 80s car radios and even your analog radio! xD
Hey ! Please say me where i can download that app! My n8 dont have that option :(
Hi guys, if you are in Malaysia, the Nokia N8 price has been revealed to be RM1690! :)
lleva un altavoz o dos altavoces integrado?
@LoveJesusLoveJehovah I completely agree. But when there is no other choice, barring changing my head unit which has no audio input options, this will have to do for me. :)
@Moving4Motion thanks a lot. planning on an N8?
great vid nice one didnt no you could do this
@xavierid I own a N91 but don't own an iPhone. But when compared to the N91 I think it's not that different thought I can't really say who is better. I normally use standard iPod headphones and not the ones that come bundled with the phone so... yeah..
will be moving from an N97 so couple of things...is the audio output louder? n97 is too low through headphones imo..and is is that much quicker?
@1087toni we do have a few more N8 videos u can check out on our channel. But do feel free to ask if u have any question about the N8. Will be glad to help :)
@marlenehoang Hi, since this is a key N8 feature, your N8 should have this function. Try looking for the FM Transmitter app, it is an app that is preinstalled in your phone. Hope that helps :)
will the fm transmitter and ovi maps work at the same time?
@pkoicetr Of course it does, but I reckon if u are going to buy a phone anyway, u might as well buy one that does everything.
helpful vid thanks to the uploader!! have u got anymore handy tip video's like this one, im jus gettin to know my n8 so wood be useful, thanks!
does FM-transmitter works with Spotify? or any other 3rd party software/music player?
hey great i dint knew it had a FM transmitter!!..thts GENIUS itself in a phone~!
Why does my phone not have the FM transmitter?? =[
@PhantomAct Well as the broadcast range is probably only a meter or so... you'll have to literally camp outside our neigbours door for it to have any effect :P
i don't have the fm transmitter on my n8 :( i checked the settings
FM Transmitter is old for Nokia phones, It's in the old N97! :)
It's a nice feature to have but I find the audio quality to be poor. It's muffled and lacks clarity. Much better to use the 3.5mm jack than this for playing music if that's an option!
hey anybody knows where can i install the fm transmitor in my n8.. its missing :(
hi, thanks for the demo.
you're from malaysia? is N8 already available for sale in malaysia? can you tell me how much is it in malaysia?
can u tell me the price of the phond .
i wanna the phond
i m also live at Malaysia , p.penang .
could you use it in your home radio?..
if u don mine can u please tell me which country are u from? im from malaysia so i have to wait till oct.
what if I use a used frequency ??
from where did you buy the phone??
and i updated to belle, i couldn't find fm transmitter..
@AutoTVmy yeah I think so, this or the E7 anyway. It's so hard to choose a new phone these days. I like Android but the battery life of every new Android phone is appalling, and I love Nokia anyway.
Can i ply it in my home radio?
Hey dude. You got your N8 in Malaysia? How much is it? I am also a Malaysian.
@Zlyzer Have to agree on that, but if your stereo is like mine... well this is the only choice :)
thanks for the video man!
watch one is better NOKIA N8 OR SONY ERICSSON SATIO?
