Just got my N8 a couple of days ago, and I was testing the FM transmitter on my car. I was surprised when I noted that the RDS on my car labeled the station as Nokia, I wouldn´t have spected the phone to broadcast RDS XD
This is one of the best things in N8! Seriously, if you have an old car with an old car stereos (no USB connection for memory stick), you must have FM-transmitter so you can play all your music without any CD's! I always use this when I'm driving a car.
Although the N8 has Bluetooth, it is not part of its FM Transmitter. The FM transmitter's performance depends on a variety of factors, to include interference from a highly populated FM frequency spectrum to the type of receiver in your radio to location of the N8 FM transmitter relative to the radio receiver. Find a frequency that has minimal competition from other competing transmissions at or near that setting. The lower the frequency the better. Then position the N8 for best results.
I first use this feature on my Nokia N80 back in 2006-2007. It was the best feature back then when cars has no bluetooth integration, and that bluetooth doesn't support EDR 2.0 Stereo audio.
When you're in the music player, you can go directly to FM transmitter from options tab. You can also set the frequency there as well . No need to go back to home screen and tools.
I use this feature so much. I cant think about getting a new phone with out this FM transmiter, or the HDMI output with 5.1 channels for audio... =) Nokia is taking to long on making the next model with more cpu and ram, plus amoled, etc.
@techprolonged i know that... my fren has it..but i dont.. i google it and found some forum saying its because it was made in hkong or firmware or something..
Good for you man! I own 3 cars and neither has bluetooth connection so wtf should I do now replce all the cd players in each car? No I'll just stick to the FM transmitter.
fuck yeah, I'm gonna be able to hear my music in that old radio without usb!! And no more of that terrible radio interface where I had dificulties to find my musics. They were always messed up.
н 97 и н 97 мини ещё в своё время научились так делать. не говоря уже не про смарт,а про обычный телефон нокиа x2-02. а вы всё разукрашиваете н8. знаем мы за неё.))))
I wish modern smart phones had this

you can get to the fm transmitter from the music player i think its under options, or you can set a widget to display it on your home screen
