Being able to play these on a handheld is beyond what I would have imagined even 7 years ago when Infinite came out. So cool to get back to these on the go.
It's amazing indeed that these great games are coming to the Switch and that they run and look as they should. With games like these the Switch is becoming like a museum for some of the great games of the past, while at the same time having all these amazing indi games and RPG's and some very good (timed) exclusives. I love the Switch.
Same. I normally don't touch nintendo anymore due to their 1st party only bs remakes and never discounting, and weeb games. Finally has some great 3rd party, and has now become my fave console due to portability.
Yeah, portability is a big deal. This morning I was playing docked, but the weather was so good outside that I didn't want to stay at home, but I didn't want to stop playing eather, so I just grabed my Switch, some food and water and spend the day at a small wood near my home. What a great day:)
Been waiting for this! For people who haven’t played these games in 6-7+ years or are new comers then I’d say it’s a great value. However if you’re someone who played the collection 2-3 years ago then wait for a sale unless you REALLY love this series, like me, then buy it!
Great breakdown, really in depth. Im so glad this is rocking on switch. I built a pc rig just for this game back in the day, and to have a switch handheld running the remaster is just insane. Rapture is one of my favourite fantasy spaces of all time. Great work on this.

As you I couldn't resist the nostalgia despite no gyro which is a game breaker to me. I like how it still says "Aim for their head. You'll do more damage thatway" on the loading screen... Well I can't bloody well aim can I??

I'm brand new to bioshock and bought the trillogy for Switch. I finished the 1st one this morning and I'm playing the second one now. It's so much fun a great selection of weapons and abilities. Fantastic well paced story with some great twists at the end of the 1st game. I can't wait to finish the trillogy so I can start it all over again. Great review as always guys.
Beautiful, beautiful review. This is a very dear game to me. I remember the day i got a glimpse of it without any context, and minimal access to the internet: i was so caught up, and it got me dreaming for days. Until the fateful day a name came up. Bioshock. Seeing it running on a portable console makes it even more personal. Kudos to the devs, and to you Mark for this awesome review. We all make reviews, but in the end, our reviews make us. Keep safe!
GamebroTV BL2 can be replayed far more than Bioshock. That’s the nature of looter/shooters. And none of the three are “superior” games. They are all vastly different genres (story based FPS, looter/shooter, and tactical rpg). Each one helped reinvent their genre and deserve to be played. However, the Borderlands series is a very old favorite of mine I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into on PC and I want to stream it with a friend of mine. That’s why I’m going Borderlands first.

Word. I have high hopes; they tapped Virtuos for both XCOM and bioshock, which is a pretty great team as far as ports are concerned. And since bioshock turned out well by them... fingers crossed!

The cross hatching isn't new. I've seen it in Spyro Reignited, but after awhile, I got used to it in that game and I don't really notice it anymore unless I look very closely. I can't wait to get Bioshock for my switch. Such great games, I'm so happy they're here.
I've already played the first game 3 times, and the other two games once, but will probably end up biting the bullet on the Switch Collection to GLADLY play them all again. I'm glad you were happy with the performance. I saw someone playing the games in handheld mode and it also looked SURPRISINGLY good.
@SUBZEROUK the difference here is that DOOM won't be a port. They probably built it from scratch and made it adapted to the switch. and we've seen so far that all built for the switch games were really good with no problems.
Finally on land after a 7 month deployment. Time to catch up on one of my favorite channels. Was so happy to see this was on the switch now, love the series.
They all look incredible on the Switch, just hope Infinite UI in handheld mode gets a text size increase as it's so tiny on that game it's very hard to read.
I hear you, for some reason developers haven't focused too hard on this aspect when it comes to handheld play, which is weird as the main appeal of their ports are "play on the go." Skyrim and Doom 2016 are good examples.
Just Kitten strange why infinite has microscopic text while the first two games the text looks fine. Other than that small issue I can't fault the ports, they did an amazing job.
The switch has set a new standard for how handheld games should run. With doom, skyrim and now the bioshock and borderlands collections. The saying, "can it run doom?" should now include "can it run bioshock?" and, "can it run skyrim?" Lol
This is one of those games I've been wanting to play for years but never had time to sit & play (freaking kids & job). So obviously I was planning on picking it up for the Switch either way but this looks freaking amazing 😍 I'm going to go hunting today after work to see if I can find a physical copy.

No gyro aiming? No sale. Pass. Two of the key benefits of playing games of this type on Switch are the option to play portable as well as gyro aiming giving better speed and accuracy with the controls beyond what standard dual analog will ever provide. In short, gyro allows more intuitive controls without the need of an aimbot.
Wait, for real? Gyro aiming was the best thing to happen to fps games on console. That's just lazy to not include gyro aiming when it's in most fps/tps games on the switch

I just bought this now without watching a review since I knew it was gonna be good. I remember never being able to buy the game since I was a kid back in the 360 days so I just kept replaying the demo and loved it everytime I did replay it. Now that I'm older, I can't wait to play this game that everyone is nagging me to play all the time, especially on the go.
You sold it Mark, Bioshock is one of those sacred titles I missed after I stopped playing videogames on PC... moreover, I'm not a huge fan of first person shooters (the last one I really enjoyed was Half-Life) but I get the feeling this one can really suit my tastes. Thank you for making me poorer... again! ;P
Never got into these games and I couldn't really tell you why, but I'm glad this series plays well on the switch. I'm sure a lot of people will be ecstatic.

This game only crashed one time on me. And that was the first game going into Smugglers Hideout. The loading transition screen crashed my game. Other than that, the game never crashed for the rest of my playthrough and it was a smooth experience all throughout. I am extremely happy with this on Switch.

Dead Space 1 is one of my all times. Beat it 4 times and got 100% achievements.

For some reason diagonal imputs with the right analog are insanely slow compared to left and right. Other than that cool game.

Hopefully I'll find it at a Walmart, since it will likely be cheaper there. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind spending the full $50 on this.

I just bought this now without watching a review since I knew it was gonna be good. I remember never being able to buy the game since I was a kid back in the 360 days so I just kept replaying the demo and loved it everytime I did replay it. Now that I'm older, I can't wait to play this game that everyone is nagging me to play all the time, especially on the go.
With some hiccups noted, I am quite proud to see that the port is very good. I love to see that the game is smooth as a baby's skin.

I recently replayed all of these on my pc. They are great and I hope you switch gamers have fun playing it
You sold it Mark, Bioshock is one of those sacred titles I missed after I stopped playing videogames on PC... moreover, I'm not a huge fan of first person shooters (the last one I really enjoyed was Half-Life) but I get the feeling this one can really suit my tastes. Thank you for making me poorer... again! ;P

Never got into these games and I couldn't really tell you why, but I'm glad this series plays well on the switch. I'm sure a lot of people will be ecstatic.

The Collection just showed up with a buy button and I am the proud owner of yet another copy of the Bioshock series. What a day this will be! Cheers gents keep them angels coming.
This game only crashed one time on me. And that was the first game going into Smugglers Hideout. The loading transition screen crashed my game. Other than that, the game never crashed for the rest of my playthrough and it was a smooth experience all throughout. I am extremely happy with this on Switch.
