People have found the Switch can be modded to unlock the frame rate with many games ported from PC or other consoles. Most of the settings are modified for stable performance and avoiding over heating of the system. Can you run 60fps? Yes with modding but only if you can chuck in some extra fans lol
@@heisenbergwhite00 finished it yesterday didn't run into a single crash. Had plenty on 360 Infinite and plenty on every single game of the PS4 collection. You clearly haven't played these ports, stop trolling everywhere.
I remember trying to play Bioshock Infinite on my i3 3rd gen with Intel HD 3000 graphics. I can't remember specific frame rates but it became unplayable due to loading times. It had a hard drive, but I'm sure it was the CPU that was the bottle neck in that regard. I'm sure the GPU kept me at in the low 20's fps wise, but back then that didn't bother me much. Its weird to think about, but now that 30 fps looks absolutely horrible to me having had a decent PC for years. I can't help but remember those days with that laptop though, and think about how hard I tried to play infinite with a terrible frame rate and loading times, while the switch does it better. Had the Switch existed when I was in highschool, It would have absolutely blown my mind. To be completely honest, it still actually does.

Too bad its not possible to unlock the frame rate on Switch. I loved that I was possible on Xbox360. Edit: With a CFW on Switch it actually IS possible to unlock the framerate and it works perfectly.... at least in handheld mode.

Again Switch impresses with what it can do with its mobile chipset. Looking at those videos I'm still impressed with what the 360 achieved though. My steam copies of Bioshock games were automatically upgraded for free to the latest versions and I recently bought a Ryzen 3500U laptop for £240 thanks to an offer and plays it fine at 1080p on the laptop screen. Switch performance is starting to fall back a fair bit with what entry to mid-level laptops can achieve. The Ryzen 3500U laptop has 1.3TF of gpu performance which is about the performance of the original xbox one plus the CPU side is significantly more powerful than xbox one. A laptop like that can play a huge amount of fantastic PC games on the go which you may already own on steam anyway. I guess that is my main issue with Switch versions of old games, you are paying a lot to get those games and when support for Switch ends in a few years you lose access to your games if you bought them digitally. My laptop came with a 256GB SSD and I'm planning to add a 2TB HDD too.
Sometimes I think DF is too harsh or exquisite about performance in videogames, but I think it's ok to have that meticolous point of view so the industry won't fall into laziness when making ultimate videogame's experiences. In this case with Bioshock, I think specially Infinite in many specific situations had perfomance drops that were clearly visible but at the end, didn't ruin the experience.

Finished the first Bioshock on Switch just a few days ago, and it really is a masterpiece. The port (as the DF analysis shows) is quite good, although: the game froze on me two times during the entire gameplay (loosing a fair bit of progress), the audio quality is far from perfect (with the ending credits being especially bad) and there are some low-res textures here and there. The biggest bummer though? The persistent error message (“failed to connect to 2K servers”) that keeps showing after waking up the game from hibernation.
Df is so great. This is the kind of info I want to know when making an educated purchase on a port.

I just finished Bioshock 1 on my switch rn! It was so much fun! The only complaints I had were with some audio issues, like with switching between guns and looping sounds
These games look amazing on the switch itself. These videos don't do it justice.
I was waiting for this, thank you! I always watch your videos before I buy a third party game. I’ve been waiting to revisit bioshock on switch ever since it was rumored.
Switch related content is the only thing that makes pirn analysis interesting
People have found the Switch can be modded to unlock the frame rate with many games ported from PC or other consoles. Most of the settings are modified for stable performance and avoiding over heating of the system. Can you run 60fps? Yes with modding but only if you can chuck in some extra fans lol
Bioshock crashes a lot for me. I try saving often but it sometimes crashes when saving too...
Crashed when I was saving after 8 hours save file corrupted lost all progress playing on xbox X and keep crashing every time I give up
was worried about this, the remasters for bioshock 1 and 2 are notoriously unstable
@@jin12345678 I own the PC versions too and yep they had the same problems.
It's been crashing alot on switch .
@@heisenbergwhite00 finished it yesterday didn't run into a single crash. Had plenty on 360 Infinite and plenty on every single game of the PS4 collection. You clearly haven't played these ports, stop trolling everywhere.
I like how Tom is very softly spoken and positive.
Anybody else have audio problems with Bioshock 2?
Form me Bioshock 2 on switch is riddled with audio issues I'm so sad they didn't cover it!
I was really hoping for a patch but nobody has pointed it out.
Very little discussion of portable play - what is the average resolution of the dynamic 720p?
Bought this and Borderlands, extremly pleased with both :)
All 3 Bioshock games and all 3 Borderlands games are muah! Chef’s kiss. And XCOM 2 on Switch is a miracle. Not perfect like Bioshock/Borderlands but way, WAY better than Outer Worlds. XCOM 2 looks incredible on the handheld screen. Even docked looks great.
Man I'm glad these games are coming to switch. Not a huge fan of the classic nintendo IP games, being able to play black flag and witcher 3 on the go is awesome. Dont even have my switch dock connected to the tv, just have it next to the bed for charging lol, have the other consoles and a pc for big screen stuff.
Witcher 3 is really good..
Personally I've been playing Dark Souls on the Switch, mostly invading to rank up my sin counter in the Book of the Guilty..
Invasions are still fairly common on the Switch..
This is the video i was waiting for
But what about on Switch Lite? Does not docking make it better or worse for me?
I'm pretty sure you're fine.
At 7:34 you can see the bridge popping in on the Switch
All these games run awesome on the switch.
Wish it was 60 fps, but still it is really nice to see the remastered games running
Too bad its not possible to unlock the frame rate on Switch. I loved that I was possible on Xbox360.
Edit: With a CFW on Switch it actually IS possible to unlock the framerate and it works perfectly.... at least in handheld mode.
Man, I miss Bioshock. I really wish there was a new one coming
Me too loved these games
I just got BSI since I never got the Buried at Sea DLC, I am very impressed how well the port runs and looks considering these were the same guys that ported Outer Worlds (Virtuos), maybe due to the lower technical constraints on these older titles. I do have all 3 originals/remasters on PC as well. :)) Glad to have BS on the go!!
The Switch is too weak for a 2019 title running on UE4. Case closed.
In fact, these two games are ported by different studios.
I think the 07:22 mark your showing off the xbox X version but the screen says xbox 360.
They're comparing Switch to the original Xbox 360 at that point.
Glad they mentioned the physics fps fix mod.
What version/port available would you recommend to someone with a switch and pc? I’ve read about a lot of problems with what I’ve seen available on Steam. Thanks
I bought them on PC, bioshock 1 is unplayable, kept crashing and corrupted my save file. I heard the same for 2 but worse so I didn’t play it (was still feeling disappointment with 1 because hot damn it was so good for the few hours I played). Infinite runs great. Imma get it on switch because BS1 is that good and it looks stable.
@@kifgdude thanks! I got it for switch but haven’t gotten to play it yet. I bought far cry 3 for steam and it’s really bad. Not sure if it’s just my settings, but I’ve tried some fixes and nothing. The dialogue doesn’t match with the illustrations and there was so much lag and pixel blending and sensitivity I couldn’t even run away from the dogs into the jungle
7:04 The Switch seems to have more seagrass and stuff.
Great stuff as always, it would be awesome if you can do Borderlands Switch collection aswell!
Anyone else prefers solo vidoes rather these ones where it just feels like watching a conversation rather than a simple analysis video?
If we wanted the best graphics in the best fps would have got it on PC or console, Switch is that middle ground.
it's sick you can play game like this on a mobile device
Well it’s a home console you can take with you and it’s awesome
Still waiting for a patch to fix the stuttering on Xbox one x 😕
Send a detailed request on 2k support, that's what I did, can't hurt to try
I've seen on Twitter turning the Xbox ones internet helps for whatever reason 🤣
@@sebastiannienow6981 is this port published by tk or are the rights given to someone else?
If you're correct I definitely will do it!
Its so sad to have this stuttering especially if you know it might be easy for the developer to fix that with a simple patch.
@@sebastiannienow6981 I just went to their website but the problem is even if I have a account this game is not in the live chatlist anyways...
I didn't saw other possibilities than this to have any contact.
@@sebastiannienow6981 I send a very accurate description about this problem I hope it will do something
Thx for the idea.
I was waiting for this vid :)))
while the witch has a lot more RAM, its bandwidth (25.6 GB/s/) is only a little bit faster then the xbox 360s (22.40 GB/s)
What were your thoughts of the Switch version of Trial of Mana?
Huh, so it looks like they’ll never fix the crashing problem on the PC remasters.
You sounded sooo disappointed that the frame rate is stable.
He was disappointed it was 30fps with framepacing issues
Considering this is vidoe is over 15 minutes, some comparison with X360 would’ve been great.
Please add gyro-aiming as part of an update!
The most annoying bullshit about the collection on ps4 is that it blocks the use of the share button for streaming. Only game I know that does this. Mafia 3 blocked cutscene audio but that's it
Any ideas why PC games never have the option for dynamic resolution?
Ori and the Will of the wisps actually added that in an update!
But its really an exception...
@@MrSir that's interesting, maybe it will be a bit more of a thing at some point.
Dishonored 2 had this option, I'm sure there are others.
I’m more impressed with how good the xbox 360 version looked back in 2007. Wow that’s impressive
It seems like if a game runs at 60 on PS4/Xbone then a 30fps port to switch is no issue.
07:34 notice how the bridge is loaded :-o
im gonna buy a game this month but i dont know if buy Bioshock the collection (i never played none of them yet), Wolfenstein 2 or the outer worlds (i have see a lot of reviews of this game and all say that it dont got the better quality yet and allbody are waiting for a new patch).
Do you think Bioshock the collection is worth it? or maybe i shoud buy wolfenstein 2?
the game looks like it's a GoPro version of it
why is everything wide angled?
Increased field of view allowing you to see more on screen at once
02:34 DF tries acouple of time to burn the guy in the water, but it doesn't work.
The guy finally steps out of the water, gets burned, jump in the water.
DF try again to burn the guy in the water xD
Finished the first Bioshock on Switch just a few days ago, and it really is a masterpiece. The port (as the DF analysis shows) is quite good, although: the game froze on me two times during the entire gameplay (loosing a fair bit of progress), the audio quality is far from perfect (with the ending credits being especially bad) and there are some low-res textures here and there. The biggest bummer though? The persistent error message (“failed to connect to 2K servers”) that keeps showing after waking up the game from hibernation.
I picked these up and am happy but damn the fact the ports are so good makes the lack of a true physical copy really awful.
Missing surround sounds on Bioshock 1 and 2
