    My biggest tip for AP euro is to make sure that you do the readings that are assigned to you! As she said there really is no way to bs your way through the exam, you need to know what you’re talking about. My biggest regret from the class was that I didn’t do in depth reading and tried to get away with simply skimming the material. That strategy was able to get me an A in the class, but I was not prepared for the exam at all and only got a 2. So make sure you truly know your material!

      Do you have any advice for someone self studying AP Euro ?

    • @silkgrimoire
      @silkgrimoire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@joanaramirez6240 Hi! I hope I'm not too late to this. A lot of the AP Exam is based on knowing content, critical thinking, and clear writing. The best advice I can give (as someone who has taken 10 AP classes) is to read the material and understand it. Understand the connections between certain events and contextualize what is happening. Use study books from Princeton Reviews or any other helpful review books when closer to the national exam, and really brush up on your argumentative writing so that you don't waste time on the writing portion of the exam. I got a 5 on the exam and I found that what I mentioned above was really helpful. In addition, if there is a teacher or someone you know who is familiar with the content, reach out to them for help when you need it. I have a lot more advice but I didn't want to make this comment too long. Hope it helps!

    I also took ap euro and I would recommend creating quizlets to memorize events and people. Knowing your vocabulary will definitely help when answering multiple choice.

    for me, i think the best thing for me was to go through the Crash Course book for AP Euro... that thing is a lifesaver... also if your teacher doesn't give you all the practice or info you need (aka my teacher), then READ through the textbook and take notes (that will save your life)... also one of the biggest things you can do is see how everything relates to each other in history and how key trends and movements connects to the major events of a time period, and how the time periods connect with each other (mind maps will help a lot, though i haven't tried it bc my textbook and teacher was p good about that). Also watch TOM RICHEY on TH-cam (he does great AP Euro and USH review videos)

      @@agam8112 hey, online its very different but i took it first quarter (before changing schools) and it can be fun with the right teacher. there is a *lot* of writing, note-taking, and studying. i think its fine to take with an honors class but not with another AP class. ASK QUESTIONS. other people in class will love you!! because we’re all too scared to ask. also you definitely should pay attention in this class, i would look away for 30 seconds and then come back lost.
      dont worry about pretty notes with this class. you can decorate your notes after if you need. i definitely recommend finding your note taking technique. i got into that class never having taken notes before and was very lost. like she said in the video: abbreviate!! if you need a key/legend for what you abbreviate, do that. eventually you’ll remember them.

    pink- initial points of confusion/questions you have (to google, ask teacher, and/or discuss with classmates later)
    yellow- examples of key concepts/ideas
    green- information related to key concepts
    blue- other important information to know (dates, places, events, etc.)
    purple- main guiding questions in textbook

    Currently a history major in college on my last year. These are some good tips. Usually you don’t get too nitty gritty into dates until university. You have a very good grasp on the concepts of European History.

    I just graduated high school and I took a total of 9 AP exams, so I’ve learned a lot about those tests! The best advice I can give you for humanities/social science APs is to really learn the material as you go! Do not just study facts and examples, you must be able to make the connections to the rest of the material and, more importantly, to your life! If you can hold an intelligent debate with your friend about the topic outside of class, that is when you truly understand your material. These exams cover topics that affect your everyday life, learn them because understanding them will better you as a person and the grades/scores will come naturally.
    As for the test itself, they are more weird than hard. They ask about things that are totally insignificant and can skip over the big topics. In all honesty, the AP exam does not reflect your actual understanding of the material. The questions can be really weird, you might have no idea what your writing prompt is talking about, and they give you very little time to write your essays in the history exams. I got straight A+’s in my APUSH class at a college prep school, but I got a 4 on my exam because I couldn’t finish my essay in time. If you develop a deep understanding of the material as you go on, all you need to do at the end is refresh your memory. You will be able to pass, I promise.
    Good luck with the rest of your APs! I’m looking forward to watching more of your notes and comparing them with the ones I took in the same class 😊

    i haven't taken ap euro yet (i'm taking it next year) but i have taken ap world and apush so i can't really be specific to the class but i cannot stress enough that the key concepts are seriously important!!!! if your teacher does not supply them (both of mine did) please look them up like she said! seriously, it will really help you in the long run. something i did for ap world which helped me get a 4 on the exam was finding 2-3 examples of events/people/key terms for each concept and writing it down and why it fits. i would recommend doing this throughout the year because i ended up doing it a few days before the exam (it was a lot of work but it helped a lot) and it should really help you!

It was my first ap class and I was super nervous going in to it, but I made sure I did in depth reading and I took extensive notes with color coding which helped me remember some of the topics. My teacher broke it up so that we practiced with each different part of the exam as tests so every two months or so we were able to finish an entire exam. Practicing the writing and using example essays helped so much. You can do it! Also, I ended up taking no notes over the summer and I was still able to finish the entirety of the course material before the exam. Hope this helps :)

      I did! Bozeman Science videos on TH-cam saved my life! You’ve gotta understand many different processes in detail (Cell respiration, immune response, ect), and he breaks them all down really well! I also took really thorough notes as I went along so that I wasn’t lost the night before the test. Good luck!!

    Don’t do this note style; hit main topics with subcategories of slight specifics obviously. Use questions and answer them to gain an understanding of the flow of content. At then end summarize.

      no seventh grade covers about the same time period as AP Euro! just AP Euro goes WAY more in depth, if you're taking a college level history class in 7th grade your school is wack 😂

    Do you have any tips for incoming freshman? My school for eighth grade was very academic, and I would love to know not only how to "successfully" (as much as I can) complete my first year of hs, but also know how to get involved outside of school. Thank you!

    Does anybody know what grade level you take AP Euro in? In the US at least. And yes I know it also depends on the individual but I mean, at least in TX, standard is
    9th - AP Human Geo
    10th - AP World History
    11th - AP US History
    So then, does AP Euro come in 12th grade? Cause I got offered to take both AP world and ap euro for 10th grade this year but I declined cause that’s way too much history for me so I’ll only be taking Ap world but I’m wondering when I’ll have to take Ap euro? 🤔

    • @fleir2845
      @fleir2845 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Veronica Mendoza Honestly, it depends on your school... AP courses don’t exactly have a “norm” when it comes to grade level. For example, I took AP World last year for 9th grade and im taking AP Euro this year. Our school does not offer AP Human Geo. So technically you could take AP Euro senior year if and only your school allows it. Schools change up the AP’s they offer to students based on a number of factors. My school is extremely small so they don’t have a lot of AP’s to choose from

    • @fleir2845
      @fleir2845 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and also, for some schools they give the option to self study for an AP exam without taking the class. Many students that decided to take Honors World last year are being offered to take the exam this year along with the actual AP Euro course & exam, only they have to self study for World. This takes a lot of self discipline and hard work though
