Gurl my final grade 12 exams start in 15 days (im from South Africa) and i havent been that productive but i know 15 days is enough to make a difference and i will start making that difference today. You're right about the mentality. Im aware of the excuses and belittleing about myself, but I dont stop it. I always thought I was average, and that could be true because of the mindset I have over myself. I always wished I was the smart kid who understood anything and that my parents should have been stricter with me so I could have been more of an academic at a young age. I think now I could just motivate myself and be delusional in a way.
(study guide) im so appreciative for this video! im in my first semester of college after taking a gap year. during highschool, as long as a graduated i was content- but i was always so jealous of those who had school come “easy” to them. over my gap year i learned so much and my desire to go back to school grew so strong. i realized excelling grades rarely come easy to people, and these people devote so much time to their studies. i’m working harder than ever and only wish to keep going.
I never knew how much i needed this. Im in the eighth grade and my grades have drastically dropped after hanging out with the wrong crowd in seventh grade. Now I've distanced myself from the wrong people and im trying to get back on my feet. I used to have all 98s or 97s but i went to a 75 in seventh grade. Thank you for this reality check.

I actually needed this all grades are good but I'm always reaching for better I have chemistry honors this year in high school and I'm not doing well at all this has motivated me to push myself harder and stop complaining.
(study guide) I'm 14 and this made me realize how much time i waste talking down myself. in the country I'm in, grade 9 exams are really important, and I've been sitting lazily and telling myself I'm dumb and don't deserve to pass, so i never study. and now I'm really determined to prove myself wrong! this year has been so bad, and I'm only making it worse by not giving myself a reason to try and make the year good. I recently failed a french phonetics test. the professor is very strict and does a quiz every class. thanks to this video I will start studying right away and I will ace the next quiz!!
Hey Helaine! I am a freshman in high school, and I really want you to answer my query. I really wish to get into writing and literature, but don't know WHERE to start! I want to be able to write one or two novels, by the end of high school, just like you, but there's is just a TON of academic burden on me. Could you PLEASE tell me how you crunched your time to be able to write so much, how much you were able to write each year of high school, how you improved your writing skills, and on what platform were you able to monetize your books. Please let me know! Your reply would mean everything!
Yes writing is definitely hard to balance with school. I started during the pandemic so I was stuck at home and had more time to write a lot. After in-person school resumed again, I was staying up late often to write at night and I would write anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 words a day to upload daily. i think it is most important to get your ideas down on paper and not think too much. you can always come back and edit later! hope this helps :) good luck!
hey, im also writing a novel while also going to school, and I like to just write in the evening after dinner or after school when I don’t have a ton of homework or stuff to do. otherwise I’ll just write around the holidays, etc. but try to find out if you like to write in the morning, evening, etc, that could be helpful cuz you could also get up earlier to write if you’d want to. hope this helped
Mannnn, in highschool I was truly an academic weapon and I had excellent ACT scores but I got very discouraged by the lack of scholarships available to me when I started college and in my second year and a half I let my grades slip (not bad but bad for me). Now I’m getting my drive back and I’m finishing my bachelor’s, then I have about 1 year more of courses I need before I try for medical school! So I’ve got to get those good habits in place now :)
Thank you for this video, im super nervous to start sophomore year because I feel like I completely wasted my freshman year. I got low grades and bad attendance. Hoping to skyrocket this year though!!

Depends! During junior or senior year, it was lots of piano practice, studying, going to piano lesson, and other activities. But definitely also take time to rest :)
Sis thank you for your encouraging words and for motivating me making me realising each and every faults that I'm making now... I'm gonna reverse my routine now I'm on the process... Hope you have a good day love you ❤
I want to study but overthinking and anxiety is a big problem and I even don't know how to stop this and get back to the studying..I make normal things a huge mess by overthinking that much. I used to be a higher achiever but now I am fully ruined
Overthinking is very hard but you can try the 3-minute rule. Just say I will only do this for 3 minutes. If it doesn't go out as I like, then stop. Usually, you will keep going and the task won't be as hard as you thought :)
When I am struggling to start studying, or even when I am attempting to and everything is going wrong, I try to take a step back and examine my reaction. There are 4 main reactionaries, fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. Once you assess which you are experiencing, it can be easier, in my opinion, to guide yourself to a better outcome. Personally, I most often experience freeze, often categorized as procrastination. So when I acknowledge my response, I can use the higher levels of thinking we as a species have developed, to override that natural response. Sorry this was long, but it might be helpful to look into this method.
"Study Guide" Hello hello! In one of your videos, you mentioned you wrote books. Can you teach us how to brainstorm and outline a fiction story? If not, it's okay. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I truly appreciate the time and all for doing this for us. ❤😊
Oh that's an interesting suggestion! Usually the ideas come to me at random moments and I am a huge plotter so i like to plan my story from start to finish :)
I have NO Words how grateful i am that you Made this video i always used to fail maths ,it it was not because i didnt learn it was because i learnt the wrong way but now i got a 9 because of this video!!! Thank you so much!❤
active recall + having somebody randomly asking you a question always works for me. I find it easier to rmr things when its being asked at a random time, it helps me figure out whats actually in my memory and not something that needs a little hint to remember. Plus i find that having a memory attached to something out of pocket really helps me recall it better. Especially since i have trouble studing off notes or flash cards since ill take in details of the flash cards/notes and assosiate the answer with details, which make me dependent on those details to pull out the answer. kinda like a little assistant pulling out files in my brain once theres a trigger lmao

@@starivyx Thanks! It did.
You got this! Best of luck :)
Thank you for this video, im super nervous to start sophomore year because I feel like I completely wasted my freshman year. I got low grades and bad attendance. Hoping to skyrocket this year though!!

What did your average weekend in the school year look like? Youre my role model helaine keep going!!!
Depends! During junior or senior year, it was lots of piano practice, studying, going to piano lesson, and other activities. But definitely also take time to rest :)
Following some tips from my brother turned into a decent win last month. Ever had a win that felt extra sweet because it came from a tip
Amazing. I loved the video. We need a notes video. Good job! 👍
Yay! Thank you
Sis thank you for your encouraging words and for motivating me making me realising each and every faults that I'm making now... I'm gonna reverse my routine now I'm on the process... Hope you have a good day love you ❤
I'm so glad!! You got this 🫶
I want to study but overthinking and anxiety is a big problem and I even don't know how to stop this and get back to the studying..I make normal things a huge mess by overthinking that much.
Study guide, tysm!!! This motivated

Hello hello!
@@HelaineZhao Amazing! How do you do it to not lose focus and leave the story unfinished? 😃💖

Love you
@@HelaineZhao oh my god helaine love you thanks for noticing me YOU ARE MY IDEAL
active recall + having somebody randomly asking you a question always works for me.
Yes! Great advice 😄
