I have a magnetic cap version but older brand styling. I must be in the minority, Epic Man lasts all day on me, gently humming, never intrusive. I find it very comfortable and I appreciate it does not scream like so many other Amouage. Might appeal more to older gents without being an old man scent.
I don’t think it’s an old man scent at all but it’s definitely very classy and elegant. I have a very high tolerance for “funkiness” so most Amouage don’t bother me at all but I can understand how many might be uncomfortable wearing Interlude to work and prefer something like this 👍
i have the older style too (2019 bottle?) and i really like it/it lasts all day...but the way people talk about the original non magnetic formula, i feel like even ours are missing something. i really like it, but amouage has been nosediving for a while. and now theyre talking about amouage selling to l'oreal so lol

I like a lot of the newer releases things always change.
I have a 2024 bottle. I do hope that things take a turn with some oxidative time (and perhaps nose resetting)! I had that positive experience with Yuqawam. New bottle literally seemed dead. But i waited a year and it tremendously bloomed into its full being.
@@maistvanjr1 I heard from a lot of people that maceration is a thing. I’ve never really experienced it but I don’t hold on to bottle I am average about so there is that… I’m glad it worked out for you but these companies cannot expect the customer to wait a year before use.

Nice review! I am also an Amouage fan (but from Chong's Era) . I have purchased more than 10 bottles but never epic. I find it that it does not stand out as the other ones. My top favorites are Imitation, Lyric and Jubilation XXV Man. Those are trully one of the kind.
It was strong, that's why I tried to find an older bottle. See it's standard practice to weaken the fragrance before they come out with a stronger version. Reflection was a beast then it got weak and we got Reflection 45, Jubilation was super strong then also got weak and we got Jubilation 40, same with Interlude so I guess we will soon see Epic 55 or something.
@@vetiwearerdaimyo1592 yesterday I was in a shop and the lady (very experienced) said that Amouage for the EU market are basically diluted to meet IFRA (even if it still says Made in Oman). She said that if you buy from outside EU you will get better versions of the scent and that it why she didn’t carry the brand anymore (this was in Rome).
She seemed to know her business, I’ll look into this…
As a guy I got the woman’s epic 56 extrait. Dark and woody and masculine. Also a beast. Never smelt epic man. Smelt overture man and woman. Prefer the woman’s version. Great content!

A consistent description I think. Most people have similar impressions and they tend to mirror my own. I prefer the women's version if I'm honest. But I do like the green colour of the bottle!
Never tried the women’s version. I hear it’s quite unisex. Maybe I’ll get a sample of the extrait or something.
What about Epic 56? I've heard this is the one to get! I was thinking of buying it and another one... maybe more than words from Xerjoff or OpusXII Rose Incense...
@@iluvj00 I had a quick sniff of Epic Woman and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Epic 56 is high on my buy list, it has nothing to do with More than Words or Rose Incense, it’s way more spicy with lots of pepper and cumin.
I hope you reassess. This frag i didn't understand much as well in the beginning and i thought it was watered-down and i couldnt pick anything up even w my nose next to the spray point. But i have learned later it is a long lasting scent bubble i didnt realize that has a far outreach. Even when sprayed early in morning, later at home in evening my wife would make a comment about the scent even if she was in another room. It is a buttery sort of, spice dirt road, organic smell.
@@bryanryan4504 as I mentioned in another comment, I have a feeling that EU is getting the short end of the stick on some bottles due to a silent IFRA nerf. I’ll look into this again.
@SeldomlyOften yes I thought too because mine is a 2021 bottle. Magnetic cap w name on glass not neck. I can't smell anything other than a hint of scented water on my skin even after, let say, testing at home 5 sprays and only 30 mins later. I thought something was wrong w my bottle. But I was eventually told by a few people (wife, coworker who works in another dept) "hey you had on a strong frag yesterday" or "hey you have on such strong cologne why you come home to dinner and respray make me lose my appetite?" LOL. (And this usually w 2 sprays in morning bc I try to wear light perfume to work usually) It reminds me of my Bvlgari man in black totally different scent profile, however the way they both function is similar. No smell at the source but both able to permeate a far reaching bubble while the wearer (me) can't really smell.
Weird, it last about 9-10 hours on my skin. So still less than my strongest amouges, but still pretty good.

Strongest cologne I've ever owned. I thought Montale made the strongest, but this stuff is next level. Maybe just the batch I have (2022) - but it is possibly a bit too strong for a lot of occasions.
It's OK if I'm outside, however, even a couple of small sprays in an enclosed area...Woah! And washing it off is an up hill battle. I wish some other expensive ones lasted like this :((

@@SeldomlyOften Yes it is my 1st , but I realised after posting that I use it over moisturiser, tried it on dry skin and it was still strong but the longevity went down considerably. But it was still very strong initially. I find Montale is without doubt on dry skin the strongest upon reflection. Maybe I got lucky, and my batch was a bit better than the norm, but I only opened it a few weeks ago and the batch is 2 years old? Either way it's good stuff!
Hmm interesting as an Amouage fan boy this probably my favourite I love that animatic touches , such a complex fragrance. IMO this is a proper Amouage. Very surprised at your review. I get plenty of oud maybe let the bottle sit for a few months come back to it .

Hi there from Israel. Let me start by saying that i've been a subscriber for a couple of months or so, and have watched many of your videos. Fery quickly, you have become my favorite reviewer (next to the legendary Robes08). Other than you and him, NOONE but NOONE on youtube gives such an exact description of a scent. And what's more important, you don't hold back any punches. you are not afraid of blasting fragrances, and fragrance houses (such as free bottle brigades specialists like roja parfums), and you speak the truth every time. Keep up the great work, it's second to none!!!
about epic men - i agree with you completely. it disappeares after 2-3 hours (not even a skin scent) so i gave my bottle away, it was a total waste of money

I started this channel because I was initially the one looking for honest, down to earth opinions and could find very little on TH-cam. I’m so happy this comes across. I have zero motive behind this other than talking about something I like in an honest way 🙂
Well, scratch that one off the list. Similarly, I was underwhelmed by Journey Man. Purchased as a blind buy at a good price, I quickly sold it, as it really couldn’t compare to Boundless, which I find to be more complex and enjoyable to wear.

The new batch of epic is way water down and reformulated ..doesn't last more that 40, 45 minutes on skin and clothes..so now it is too expensive for what is..

On this we disagree! I find it to be epic in every way. I have a new bottle with Epic on the front and a magnetic cap (not sure what year) and I find it to be beastly. It easily lasts 6-8 hours on me (which is unusual, my skin generally eats fragrance). And I find the transitions to be slow and interesting. The dry spicy opening actually lasts a little longer than I'd like. The mid with the beautiful geranium is my favorite part but even the deep dry down is good. I put Epic up there with both Royal Tobacco and Silver Oud in terms of quality of scent and longevity/performance. And yes, on clothes it literally lasts days.
It's always interesting to hear other's experiences, so thanks for sharing yours. I'm sorry you don't love it! Maybe you got a bad batch. It happens.
Update: located my batch code. It's from 10/27/21. Truly a shame if they watered it down after that.

Before I watch this one, I'd like to say Epic smells very different on my skin vs my wife's. On mine it's a lot more masculine, a typical Amouage spicy smoky resinous DNA with a focus on animalic leather and woody nuances, while on my wife's skin it comes off woody more than anything, with sort of a green freshness, and not much of the funky animalic accord.
After watching your review, Daniel, I would have to agree with you in regard to the (lack of) complexity of Epic, when compared to other Amouage creations.
I'd only sample Boundless and Lyric, instead of blind buy directly. Although taste may and will differ, I find them both underwhelming, with respect to the scent profile, next to many others.
I'm looking forward to hearing in future videos your take on the rest of the Amouage perfumes you are accustomed to.
Not that anyone asked, my favorite are, in random order: royal tobacco, Overture, Interlude, Jubilation XXV, beach hut man, King Blue, Reflection. I'm currently testing more of them, but it's safe to say I'm a big fan, even when it comes to Mr. Salmon's releases. Guidance and Purpose instantly came to mind.

I smelled it again yesterday after a few months and while i kinda like the clean freshness , it has 0 longevity. Maybe i get noseblind very fast but everyone i asked could not detect the scent unless they sticked their face in my arm...thats with 2 sprays on the forearm. Such a shame. Epic woman as a scent and longevity completely destroys this.

@@matkassimmohamad4283 I’ve been wearing my Black Iris sample a lot lately and, to my nose, they smell similar enough that I would not own both. The difference is mostly in the opening and the oregano note of the original is what they engineered out of BI. If you are into utility I would try interlude and decide which you like more, if you are collecting it’s another story. Given that you own BI, I would probably explore something different before going similar.
I' ll pass, having heard about longevity problems with this one! I own 8 Amouages, my favourite are Reflection man, Journey man, Dia man.

My Epic Man is excellent! 2021 Batch code A34631F174. 6 Hours plus Real good projection. Wife can smell it from across the room. Sillage two metres plus no bother. I also get good comments & a few curious one's 😵😷🤕 Lol. I've just bought another Bottle. 2019 I think? She arrives tomorrow. & Let's not overlook folk getting noseblind 😂💪🤪💪🤪😷🤣🔥🔥🔥

I have the mini bottle set, Epic does open with spices with cumin most prominent. It has the familiar Amouage DNA in the opening. The dry down is like a soil or desert sand dryness with some green freshness. Do not get the leather or animalic. The unlit incense is there. Put four sprays on my forearm to test and it is weak as hell. I have to get 2inches to smell the fragrance. Your review is dead on. I’ll test it again with ten sprays but no one is going to buy a full bottle with this performance.

A great scent but the bottle I had ( a 2023) lasted less than an hour on me. Worst performing Amouage on me.
Yeah, this really is a deal breaker on this one for me 🫤
I blind bought Epic man last year or the year before and it’s one of my blind buy failures. I’ve only had a couple bad blind buys. I am not a fan of this scent profile.

@@SeldomlyOftenthe scent profile didn’t connect with me. There was something off putting in it for me. Maybe it was castoreum? I don’t have any fragrance with castoreum or civet. I am afraid of smelling like an animal’s nether regions. Maybe the oud was skanky and I am only used to westernize oud. I honestly don’t know. Something was just off.

If you are not use to this type of smell, these frags are quite strong and in your face. In the air the strong smells dissipate A LOT a become way more palatable.

@@Principemostprincipe I wouldn’t say it’s the worse (I don’t like to be so drastic) but the reformulation definitely killed it. It’s one of the 2 Amouage bottles I traded off.
@@SeldomlyOften i dont really believe in those reformulation things. I can tell you i tried jubilation xxv non magnetic cap and magnetic cap, and reflection man old version magnetic cap and new version, i certanly there is no difference to my nose, they are still pretty much weak
@@Principemostprincipe to be fair, I never tried the ‘old’ Epic Man, I’m assuming that I HAS to be more dense and potent.
The only reformulated version va modern I have compared is Lyric Man, I now own the old one and it smells NOTHING like the sample I have my first impressions on.

That is such bullshit and a ripoff from a company. I just got me an Interlude Man and was expecting a beast mode fragrance for the price and was disappointed badly. It’s totally not worth the money.
