Phantom Comparison - Christine, I Love You... Part 1

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 7 พ.ย. 2024
- A comparison of the ring returning scene at the end of the 'Final Lair'. Other parts linked below.
The first version I had of this got taken down, due to having footage from the 25th anniversary concert, so I remade it and included footage from several new videos I have since acquired.
Note that this means that no clips from the 25th anniversary concert will be included, because it results in my videos getting blocked. Please do not write comments demanding "WHERE ARE SIERRA AND RAMIN??!"

Ramin and Sierra's holds such a special place in my heart. The crying, the turning back to look at him. THE FUCKING NOD LIKE ITS OKAY BE HAPPY F U C K
I like the one from the 25th anniversary best, because christine seems also heartbroken when he says the line and because he already made up his mind and lets her go, he´s not trying to hold her back, its the most beautful for me
Diddy Melone I couldn’t agree more. I love the expression of his face and body, it’s so understanding yet depicting of his undying unrequited love
yes!
Isn't it here(I mean, in this video) right? I tried to find ramin and sierra version, but I couldn't find it
Sierra and Ramin made my Sob so hard, so yeah i Agree
@@reachforthestars99 th-cam.com/video/dBf_08aO7nA/w-d-xo.html for you ❤️
12:06 you can hear them crying
Everything ended as it should have, but for some reason, this is still so sad. Because poor Erik’s all alone again, and whatever peace he had gotten out of Christine, however wrongly, was gone. Christine was better with Raoul, but you can’t deny that this is still tear-jerking.
Completely agree! Christine and Erik were broken, if she stays with him neither of them will get better. If she stays with Raoul he will help her grow. But is sad still😭
i think he did love her, he was just to effed up to ever truly express it
"Christine was better with Raoul"
No. She was better at her own. Raoul is an abusive j3rk that pays no attention to what she says and forces her to risk her life, all to kill her teacher even though she wanted to protect him. But it seems Raoul has permission to be an @ssh0l3 and Erik gets all the blame 😊
Musical!Erik is much more manipulative and villanous than he was in the novel, but he still recognizes his mistakes unlike Raoul.
@@sofia_junco *sigh*
Raoul literally forced her to risk her own life to prove his masculinity and kill a man. And in the novel, he's an even worse person. To be his wife Christine will have to abandone her carrier and become a submissive housewife, or you think a noble's wife could have a carrier as an Opera singer? She has the right of choosing anyone she wants, but Raoul was literally the worst.
She could end up single, it would be a better choice.
It's so stupid to think Erik couldn't make her happy because he was broken, when he literally redeemed himself. After The Final Lair she could easily stay with him and be happy, with someone that understands music as much as she does. Unlike some useless loser with 0 understanding about culture that is romanctized by the simple fact of being pretty and rich ;)
(And Raoul definitely smells like 💩, like every french noble back in that time. Erik lived many other cultures and had a much better higiene😂)
@@harperfisak That's not an opinion, that's a fact.
This should also be called: How to make a person cry for 53:40 😂😂

P-part 1?? With the time that is almost an hour??
*first two seconds of the video*
PART 1 OUT OF 4??????
Cue me sobbing uncontrollably for an hour straight

I love ramin at 6:22 because his voice singing that line sounded just so authentic and tender. like he truly felt it in the bottom of his heart and there was ALMOST sanity in the phantom character just through delivery of that line. her reaction was perfect as well, like she still couldn't help be "entranced" by him but her strength and character development showed in the ultimate rejection of the ring. both did a great job favorite by far
"almost sanity"
Congratulations *Mr. Perfect Imbecile* that didn't have to endure physical and emotional abuse like Erik did! Unlike you Christine had truly empathy for him and not some bullsh-t "entranced" 😊 she is a human being, unlike you, how funny 😅
35:23 Wow, this one is unlike any other.
1. Erik says Christine's name twice, something you don't often see during this part. *Edit: the first "Christine" might actually be Christine sniffling/crying/gasping but it's hard to tell. In any case I like to imagine Erik is saying her name very softly first.*
2. They clasp hands and Christine kisses Erik's hand while Erik does the same to her. It's like a final kiss but not complete, because they know a real kiss would be too painful so this is what they decide on.
3. Christine slowly backs away, not wanting to leave, and even turns around to look at him one more time before she's gone. She doesn't run away without looking back like most Christine's do.
4. Erik slowly and silently watches her leave without running after her. He simply accepts this outcome without forcing it.
This one was lovely, definitely a new favorite.
The clasping hands was done because Mercedesz Csampai lost the ring somewhere backstage, so she had to ad-lib something to do when she returns to the Phantom. But it's done so well you wouldn't know it! (And it was her last performance as Christine, which makes it even more noteworthy.)
@@PrismsofGlass Wow just goes to show that sometimes the ones with mistakes end up being the best! Makes me think of Peter Lockyer's flub when he accidentally caught his tailcoat in his cape and performed the whole MotN segment in his shirtsleeves, which in my opinion makes it even better! Or when Ramin Karimloo caught his own tailcoat in the invisible string for the lasso at the end of the 25th anniversary performance. So many tangled tailcoats!
Hi, so I have a question that I cannot find the answer to:
Where does it say that his name is Erik?? I mean, I know that it is his name, but I CANNOT find it anywhere! It's annoying me so badly!
@@phantomfae_2323 It's from the Gaston Leroux novel that started it all! That's where the story came from and that's where the Phantom's name was first mentioned.
DragonRebelRose thank you very much!! I will make sure to read the book, I didn't even know that there was a book for sure until now! I'm pretty new to the phan group, if you couldn't tell 😂
24:10 Dear God, I wasn't ready for that! That's a new favorite!
Alison Hanna his voice is so gentle when he says he loves her.
What was the Phantom singing to her? It sounded different from " Christine, I love you". Sorry English isn't my first languay...
@@eunice96yanlin They're most likely singing in Danish.
36:30 ahhh this one hurts. His voice is like the definition of aching, sorrowful tenderness.
I think the versions of Erik grabbing Christine "Christine, I love you" even more heartbreaking, he's literally taking one last grasp at his one chance at happiness..
Nope. Not gonna watch this video. No way. Not today, tears. Not today.
51:53 Ben Crawford. Definitely the most heartbreaking.
The little 'Don't leave me, I need you.' is crushing
My poor baby Erik, it hurts me to see him hurt over and over again
And we are here, watching him getting hurt over, and over again (sorry my english is not that good xd)
If you want to see the Phantom find love at last, I strongly recommend you read "A Stroll On Sunday", which is probably the best unofficial Phantom "sequel" ever written. Though technically a fanfic, I'm convinced that the writer is a professional novelist who wrote this as a side-project/hobby.
I won't spoil it for you, but the Phantom falls for a refined, older, wiser British-Canadian woman named Nora after she is mistakenly given his Box 5 opera seat.
Nora is basically the _anti_-Christine. Whereas Christine is sweet, innocent, trusting and naive, Nora is worldly, cultured, sharp-witted and cynical. A line from the piece goes something like _"Christine was his Angel, but Nora was his Valkyrie."_
Being older and wiser, she is amused (but not hypnotized or mesmerized) by the Phantom's mysterious and mystical-seeming ways. She is fascinated in his intellect and storied past instead. The Phantom, in turn, is bewitched and enamored not only with her cultured upbringing, but her strong-willed resistance to his guiles as well.
What makes me convinced a professional writer wrote this is how convincingly and realistically it portrays a love that grows naturally and organically. It's not love-at-first sight or a love that grows out of dramatic bursts of passion, but one that grows slowly out of lots of small and tender moments. It's not a love that's tried by some big dramatic conflict (like a rival suitor or anything like that), but the common need to look past the other's small flaws and overcoming their own insecurity as well.
(The age-old question of _"Am I good enough for him/her? Will he/she stay if I reveal what's really in my heart? How can I change to make him/her want me?")_
It shows love _as it works in the real world._
Either way, I've convinced myself that "A Stroll on Sunday" (and not "Love Never Dies") is _THE_ sequel to Phantom of the Opera, and that the Phantom does finally find lasting love ever after.
Came back on Phantom Bway’s closing. 35 years… I wonder what the very last one of these phrases on Broadway sounded like
I am Obviously watching 53 minutes of this to hurt myself. Don't touch me.
6:45. Absolutely the best.

David Shannon's was the best. He really wanted to wipe her tears, but he knew he had to be strong
ThePersianTenor I agree, he forgot to even take the ring from her.
Taryn Sparks he actually gave the ring back to Christine. You can tell he wants to comfort her, but knows he had to be strong for her
Thank you for your effort!

OKay, but 6:19 with Ramin and Lelia is probably the most beautiful version I've heard. Even more so then the 25th! Thank you for this!
Earl’s acting is so moving when he kneeled down to beg Christine accept his ring
i remember seeing this the first time around, and it was a bolt to the heart, and it remains so...then after this the build up to that glorious heartbreaking rise in music that leads to the music sequence as the mask is held in the spotlight...the heart could only take so much....beautifully written and performed...everything is perfect about the ending.
The Swedish production both have Jafar and Aladdin as the Phantom!

Erik: Christine I love you. Christine: I know.

DragonRebelRose I agree with you; 35:23 is truly unique, and beautiful only Ramin & Crawford are better.
God, Ben Crawford is heart breaking.
A moça que está filmando o Ben Lewis está chorando... eu tb choraria. A voz dele é perfeita, a atuação dele tb. Meu sonho era vê-lo ao vivo como fantasma. 😢
Christine: But I can't love you because I love Raoul. I'm sorry. Goodbye.
Ramin Karimloo ( th-cam.com/video/y-_xiRLOBzk/w-d-xo.html ) is clearly the best of the bunch but they're all so good! David Shannon and Geronimo Rauch are also excellent. A personal favorite is Ben Lewis ( th-cam.com/video/y-_xiRLOBzk/w-d-xo.html ) not only because it is very good but whoever is recording it audibly begins to weep.
Thank you!

what does the Phantom say at 24:45?
