I can't help but laugh at the ones where the Phantom's arms are extended horizontally during the kiss. All I can ever imagine them thinking is "WHEEEE IM AN AIRPLANE" because I'm just that sentimental.
36 minutes of watching christines and phantoms kiss and here i am forever alone wondering when My angel of music would start singing songs in my head already....
Kathleen Libby that’s literally his first kiss. In the book phantom by Susan Kay, his mom Madeline doesn’t even kiss him on the forehead. And that’s all he asked for for his fifth birthday!
I love them all so much. Some of them where so cute they made me giggle a bit. Love how John Owen - Jones fell to his knees. But the one that I love most is Ramin Karimloo's reaction he is the only one who really reacts when she touched his deformity. He immediately grabs her hand and holds it there. I think that is a very realistic and beautiful reaction. No one ever touched his face, and if they did they never touched it like that. I really love how Ramin did that. Thank you so much for this.
Crawford is my favorite phantom but of all the reactions in this video I can honestly say that I like 33:43 the best. It's the only time I've seen it done like that and I think it portrays exactly the right emotion. I can FEEL how overwhelmed he is.
+isablondethng If that's the one with John Owens-Jones and Katie Hall, I agree! Even with the shaky camera (and coming near the end, where you might be getting tired of so much Phantom-kissing), that was the best reaction.
John Owen Jones has a special place in my heart anyway cause he was my first phantom, but I can pick apart why 33:43 (even though you can barely see it) is my all time favorite version of the kiss. 1. He has easily the most physically dramatic reaction of all of them, but it somehow comes across *less* melodramatic because his acting is so good. You feel like he reacted that way because he's genuinely overwhelmed, not because he's an actor playing a part. 2. instead of going for a second kiss, Christine ops to just... hold him instead, and that's still played as just as significant as a second kiss. This is such a beautiful change because it reinforces what the actual focus of the moment is meant to be. It was never about a romantic/ sexual act, it was about being touched with kindness for the first time in his life 3. There's a moment where you can see he's so conflicted and trying to decide whether or not to hold her back, but get's so overwhelmed by what's happening he literally *shoves* her away. It's like he's hyper aware he doesn't deserve her kindness and can't bear to take advantage of it for a second longer.
I agree, it seems like one of the most realistic reaction a person could have. He's never been loved, now suddenly someone is kissing him on the lips? It's more than enough to make him feel dizzy. And I love that Christine doesn't get scared and just crouches and hugs him. It's a nice touch and different from other productions.
Ummm.... What about Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, arguably one of the best casts for this musical up there with Michael Crawford and Sarah brightman
I answer that in the description. Furthermore, my videos are being blocked worldwide for having clips from the RAH concert, so I can't include it in any of my comparisons.
Honestly I prefer this interpretation, I get it that the Phantom is shocked, but he had wanted that kiss for some good time, he might as well take it and threaten to never leave it.
I just saw Phantom here in Louisville KY and the kiss scene was the best I've ever seen. When she kissed him he fell to his knees with his arms spread toward the sky. The more she kissed him the more his body trembled and fell toward the ground. It was spectacular. I was his first kiss and boy did it overwhelm him.
Just a reminder: Why does the Phantom not know what to do with his hands? The following reasons: 1) He wasn't expecting that kiss, and it hit him like a sucker punch. 2) When a person has spent so much of their life being told that they are not worthy of love in any form, it can be hard for them to let go of that and finally believe that they deserve it. So even while Christine is kissing the Phantom and he clearly *wants* to touch her, he doesn't know what to do because part of him still believes that he doesn't deserve it.
I know we like to make fun of Raoul’s reaction, but it’s actually really sad. As far as he knows, Christine is accepting the Phantom’s offer to essentially give her life up for his, and he is unable to do anything to stop it.
I remember seeing somewhere that John Cudia and Jennifer Hope Mills were a couple during the production and that's why their kiss was very passionate and sensual. They certainly were one of the more powerful kisses there.
+Meadow Peace Late to this, and to take your rhetorical question seriously - I imagine with all the makeup they have on, the Phantoms don't actually feel much. (Ah, deformity makeup - ugly as heck but protective in its way.) I remember an interview between Gary Mauer and Beth Southard regarding the kiss, and Mauer said that with all the makeup on he really can't feel anything. Also, IIRC Beth Southard added that she preferred the kiss with Raoul because the Phantom tastes like glue due to the makeup.
So interesting how different they really are; many end up paying homage to Crawford and keeping their arms wide before eventually curling them. However, Peter karrie (for example) touches his face and then rushes back to examine her face, as if to see if he has hurt or changed her. Nicholas Saverina actually holds her and lets her hold him up. Franc D’Ambrosio goes in for another kiss before she offers it. Paul Stanley touches her with the back of his hands and then shoves her away. Howard McGillan traces her body over and over, wanting to touch her. Zoltan Miller straight up makes out with her. Atilla grabs her super intensely. James Romick shakes his head as if realizing this is never what he wanted. Tim Martin Gleason starts teasing at her hair. Matthew Camelle’s kiss was very tender and sweet and she jerks back in shock from it. John Owen Jones also had a tender kiss after initially jerking to shove her away from him in fear. Earl pulls away immediately when she touches the open wound on his face. Cudia drops to her height and locks his arms around her waist. Jennifer Hope Willis rolls her hips against him. Ramin covers both of their faces with his hand to hide from the audience. Gina Beck withdraws in digust, touching her mouth but goes back in after composing herself. The variety is fascinating.
this moment is the best part of the whole musical, here u can just see how crazy phantom is about her. i always wanted them to be together, so watching the end of this and the end of love never dies, just breaks my heart.
8:33 I’m skimming through some of these, I’m bored and lazy, but I’ve never heard a Raoul yell for Christine or even try to protest to the kiss really. (Maybe there’s more in here, I’ll have to see XD) That is a nice change tbh, I know Raoul is trying to escape but him acknowledging what’s happening and trying to STOP it just warms and breaks my heart more for Raoul’s character.
Yeah, Raoul yelling during the kiss is an old-school thing, removed quite a few years ago. There's not many videos of it happening, but I've heard it on several audios. I like it quite a lot too, but I imagine they took it out because it distracts audiences from the Phantom and Christine's kiss, haha.
@@PrismsofGlass I can understand why they would remove that then. It’s still interesting to see that though, I don’t listen to tons of recordings because, god, there’s so many 😅 but I have found I do prefer some of the older ones compared to newer versions, is that just me?
I saw phantom in Denver a few weeks ago with Erik being played by Chris Mann and when Christine kissed him he fell to his knees, it was the best kiss I've seen by far
Thank you so much for compiling all of these! This is one of my favorite kisses; the Phantom becomes almost powerless because someone kissed him for the first time in his life. (I hope that sounds right; he's not weak or ineffectual, but he's so overcome with emotions.)
wow ... great so many phantom's and kisses. these different reactions......amazing. my favorite phantom is scott davies. i saw him on may 2th and 3th in london. great voice....fantastic performance and the most graceful handmotions i ever seen....goosebumbs and tears on both evenings......oh embarrassing .-)
For me it is one of the saddest scenes of the play because Christine is desperately trying to save her lover's life by kissing the Phantom and trying desperately to make it seem like love for him. The arm failing by the Phantom upon being kissed by Christine to him took him off balance and was unbelievable. He couldn't hold her because he knew he didn't truly have her love. Great play and wonderful scenes, music, lyrics and should never end. Thanks for the comparison.
Yeah I would have agreed if there was only one kiss BUT There's a second one afterwards. She didn't have to kiss him twice to save Raoul, once would have been enough. There was something that happened during the first kiss and she felt that spark. Christine was not in love with Raoul, she was pretty much just using him to get over the stress having to deal with the death of her father at last and having no angel of music brought onto her.
@@alexiaelenamocanu9315 I always thought Christine felt something after the first kiss that she wasn't expecting. This is only the second man she has kissed and there was a spark there she wasn't prepared for
I think you missed the point of the ending. She didn't kiss him, twice, and embrace him just so he would save Raoul. Raoul would be saved as long as she said she would stay with him, that was pretty clear. No full bodied embraces or full lipped passionate kisses needed for that. The point is she kisses him out of compassion (and maybe a little curiosity, as he had stirred feelings in her she never got to explore, but that's more my take) because she realized how starved this man was for love and affection. Listen to the lyrics she sings before she says it. That is what breaks The Phantom's heart in the end, and why he lets her go. Her's was an act of pure compassion, which is what made him truly love her. And the moment it hit him how much she loved her, he knew she would have to let her go to be happy. He let her go because he loved her, not because he realized she didn't love him.
As explained to a previous commentator on this video, I picked clips based on actors and trying to get as many in as I can without repeating couples. Since I already had one of Sierra Boggess (with Brent Barrett's Phantom) and one of Ramin Karimloo (with Leila Benn Harris's Christine), I thought it redundant to include another of Ramin and Sierra. It would mean having to include every variety of actor pairings ever, which would bloat the video to several hours, likely.
***** Yes, because sometimes the ONLY video of a Christine is with that one Phantom, and better to leave that in than kick it out because, oh no, that Phantom's already there! As an example, the only videos of Sarah Brightman and Mary D'arcy are with Crawford, so that's the Phantom that's there. It's similar with Christines - Rebecca Pitcher shows up a lot because the only videos of, say, Ted Keegan, or Peter Lockyer, or Stephen Buntrock, are with her. Yet you should know that she's ALSO with Phantoms like Brad Little, and Hugh Panaro, and Howard McGillin, but she doesn't go in there with them too because I have videos of Little/Panaro/McGillin with other Christines. I could go on and on, but variety was key here.
I like 19:38 - both for reaction and make up design. 32:08 - I LOVE the way he takes her hand like that against his face. Sorry to bring a completely different fandom in here, but all this reminds me of when River kisses the Eleventh Doctor on the show Doctor Who.... no idea what to do with the hands - Oh i know, wave them around like a beached octopus!
Wow. What a great comparison of the differences. It's interesting to see how it was played in the various areas. In some, he holds her and kisses back with passion. Some, he just touches her hair. Some, he wants to hold her so badly but can't. And some, he's almost playing a song with his hands - music of the night. There are various reactions to the kiss from him - a feeling of passion, a sense that she pities him, the sense that it’s a “goodbye,”... And a difference in interpretations as to why he had to cut it off. Some interpreted it as hearing the mob’s coming for him, while others reacted as if they suddenly remembered who they were and why kissing her was a mistake. It's also interesting to see the various costuming. There are a few where Erik's make up isn't quite as professionally done. And others where it's flawless. Thank you for posting this. It's terrific. I have a hard time picking my favorite!
18:39: Howard McGillan was the first Phantom I saw live in 2001. I absolutely loved his performance, and was definitely the best of the Phantoms I’ve seen in the theater. I also didn’t know that Jeff Hyslop played the Phantom! I remember watching him as a kid on Today’s Special. He was my first tv crush 🥺 And 33:43 John Owen-Jones, holy shit! I WISH I could have seen you!
I'm surprised how many of these do not make you believe they were truly in love....but...some of these were heart wrenching and right on point for their act.
Love the Hungarian ones...they look like they were caught making out in their parents' basement! It's interesting seeing all of these and the myriad of approaches. Thanks for this!
24:12 I love the detail in Tim Martin Gleason's kiss where he just picks up a lock of Christine's hair and stares at it. Full-on dissociating and amazed that she's that close.
I have to admit, the ones with passion are the ones I almost fall off my chair for. The ones where Phantom ceases the moment. literally. Glass Prism, you're a gem.
Thank you for putting this together! I love seeing how all the different Phantoms react to getting kissed. And going all the way back to the very first performances of POTO! This here is like a mini time capsule! Thank you so much for putting this together! :)
- At first: Awww five minutes later: This music is killing me!! x_x - Oh God, how the hands are shaking from the Phantom! :D haha every time the hands^^ - 9:00 we see all perfect the kiss ^^ - I understand a "my" every time by the german vids, but I know the lyrics are "Das lass ich nicht zu!" o.O ..... (fifteen minutes later) Only now one can hear the "zu". But I still hear the "my". What's wrong? :/ - Too bad that Valerie link doesn't occur with Mathias Edenborn. They are currently playing in Hamburg, Germany and for me with Ramin and Sierra on the first place.
does anyone know where I can find john Owens' performance from 33:47? one of my favorite parts of the book was Erik's reaction to the kiss, and I think this is the closest to it. It makes me think of his speech from the book, and it breaks my heart, but I can't find the full thing anywhere, or at least the one where he falls to his knees.
+Les Walking Dr. Musical Lover There were only four clips released by the master: Think of Me, The Phantom of the Opera, Point of No Return, and Final Lair. All four can be found on my TH-cam channel.
I wrote my comment here, but can't find it, strange. I wanted to say: I love Earl Carpenter's face: You see hope, surprise and incredulty all together or one just after the other. And when he covers his face again after the kiss, like he forgot to look that way for a moment and then suddently remembered it again.
Because that's how it's done in the UK tour. I suppose it might be from the shock of the kiss. I think it might also be an allusion to the original novel, with the Phantom falling at Christine's feet and such.
why didn't you include rierra?? .....oh wait, you've already answered that one about a thousand times. seriously, thanks for the effort in putting this together, I really enjoy watching the different actor's portrayals of this scene. nice job.
Just amazing! I've watched this about 3 times in the past 2 years and I just can't get enough of the beauty of the kiss. The raw emotion coming from both Christine and the Phantom. I just love the whole production. The story is just superb. Thank you, Glass Prism, for all of the comparisons you put here. I am so appreciative of the work you put into these.
Since I already had a kiss scene with Ramin (with Leila Benn Harris) and a kiss scene with Sierra (with Brent Barrett), I thought it would be redundant to to have one of them both. I applied this rule with all Phantoms and Christines. If I had put every pairing ever, the video would probably be four hours long or something!
This reminds me of the fact that once Hugh Panaro’s lip prosthetic once got stuck to a Christine during this, which is terrifying if you’re a performer but hilarious when you think about it
8:57 was pretty sick with the kissing while the guy is strangled XD 9:00 is best. I love watching specks make-out XD 10:00 COLOR EARTHQUAKE!!!! 10:30. Thats a zombie. Dont fuck with me she is kissing a zombie. (Note : Some of these girls are rapid grabbing these guys and kissing. I worry for their necks. ) 12:50 WTH is wrong with that phantom!?! HIS HEAD. 17:40 I like that one. If the phantom looked less like a golem I would say thats my favorite. 21:24 muahaha more strangling..
With this video, I get to see a lot of people kissing, the Phantom's makeup development, and videography development. Really cool how you got so much footage for this video though. Good job!
I actually love when he knows what to do with his arms and grabs her tight. It’s so sweet, what would be the best would be him being shocked and freezing for a second, and then as soon as he can think he grabs her and kisses her back firmly, that would be perfect
Thank you so much for this video! So good to see the different reactions from Phantoms all over the world. I really really don't like when the Phantoms are like going for the second kiss and hugging Christine, I mean in the book the Phantom was so shocked for kissing Christine in the forehead that he fell at her feet. Anyways, it's just my opinion : /
this is so interresting how phantom i played in all those countries, it's amazing to see how each actor gives is own interpretation of ths character. I only knew the US , Uk and german version but not the others. what is also great is that when we see the show even if we don't speak the language we know the lyrics !Thanks for it great video :)
Legit all of these are 1,000,000 times better than the movie. Eric isn’t supposed to act all sexy! He’s supposed to be shocked that anyone would ever show him love! Love these clips.
As someone who lives in NYC, I've seen Hugh Panaro, James Barbour, Laird Mackintosh, and Ben Crawford live, as well as watching performances from JOJ, John Cudia, Ramin Karimloo, etc. and honestly my favorites are the ones where he can't bring himself to put his hands on her as opposed to the ones where they do. There's always this moment when they realize that they can never have her, and I think it's so much more moving when it's before the end of the kiss, before they put their hands on her. It's just a personal opinion though.

+MicMic18 thanks!
Christine kisses Erik
Erik: *EXTREME INTERNAL SREAMING!!!!!*
phantomsearcher 2.9 and boner
Internal screaming is about right
hehe...
I love how in most of these you can see Raoul in the background being like: "Oh god, ew.... EW.....*EEEEEEWWW*"
I know right? It makes me laugh every time.
15:36 yeah for this one he looks like he's bouncing around to try and kill himself faster, lol.
EthalaRide im yELLING😂😂😂😂
EthalaRide- What the hell is he doing there? It looks like neck choking himself with a tie.
I know XD
this part is very beautiful, but geez some of the phantoms look like they are having a stroke
Cristina Gomes Given the Phantom's possible age and the shock of the moment, he might very well be.
+Cristina Gomes or having a seizur
+Cristina Gomes When you take it out of context of the whole performance, its really quite funny to watch.
It isn't out of the question😂😂
Or he may have an epilepsy or seizure

YASSSSSSS BITCH
Same XD
Me too sweetheart. Me too.
Christine kisses him, he becomes epileptic... poor Erik
The most awkward 36 minutes of kissing I've ever seen in my life lol
'cause you haven't seen my kissing history, lol.
This is one of my favorite moments in the show. The phantom is always so cute because this is literally his first kiss
Kathleen Libby I know it's so sad he was rejected by his own mother. Aww
Kathleen Libby that’s literally his first kiss. In the book phantom by Susan Kay, his mom Madeline doesn’t even kiss him on the forehead. And that’s all he asked for for his fifth birthday!
Yes-- and his last.
And hug
I love kissing scenes ;)
I love them all so much. Some of them where so cute they made me giggle a bit. Love how John Owen - Jones fell to his knees. But the one that I love most is Ramin Karimloo's reaction he is the only one who really reacts when she touched his deformity. He immediately grabs her hand and holds it there. I think that is a very realistic and beautiful reaction. No one ever touched his face, and if they did they never touched it like that. I really love how Ramin did that. Thank you so much for this.
agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Where is ramin? I came for him only and i cant find him 😂
31:50 is Ramin
Agreed. In addition the shock in his eyes and the trembling hands were so real.
When is JOJ kiss?
Hugh Panaro's reaction kills me. he keeps looking at the audience with his hands held out like 'Y'all seeing this right? it's not my fault this time!'
CrazyGood88 I mean... classic Hugh though. I love him so much 😂
@@varianbond my favorite phantom!
24:16 omg that was so adorable how he picked up one of her curls when she hugged him DX
Generally it implies that the Phantom is so unused to being touched (or so shocked by the kiss) that he is unable to even hold Christine.
Exactly!
Crawford is my favorite phantom but of all the reactions in this video I can honestly say that I like 33:43 the best. It's the only time I've seen it done like that and I think it portrays exactly the right emotion. I can FEEL how overwhelmed he is.
That is so true...its a perfect reaction.
Somehow I think you're right. Or atleast, in my opinion, the first half of that part.
+isablondethng If that's the one with John Owens-Jones and Katie Hall, I agree! Even with the shaky camera (and coming near the end, where you might be getting tired of so much Phantom-kissing), that was the best reaction.
You can totally feel his vulnerability there... I love how John Owen Jones portrays that.
In the final lair scene I like how Earl Carpenter goes down on his knee with the ring in his hand. I cry every time I watch it!
It was never about a romantic/ sexual act, it was about being touched with kindness for the first time in his life
Furthermore, my videos are being blocked worldwide for having clips from the RAH concert, so I can't include it in any of my comparisons.
lol raoul is just hanging i the back. lmfao third wheel
simplytrueinandout I guess you can say he’s hanging out lol no okay
13PrincessWarrior All I have to say is Why.
It's great to see them in chronological order and see how video technology has progressed.
that being said 27:38 Elizabeth Southard really lays it on him. Maybe even some tongue in that one. They are French you know.
James Melvin yes and how my life has passed
James Melvin makes sense since they are married in real life their probably just very comfortable kissing each other
Raoul in the background be like:
Yeah don't mind me
I'm just *hanging* around here
I love how the Hungarian Erik's just go for it. Good for them.
What do you think? Should be "it"
Is there video?
24:38 Erik lookin like one of those waving balloon things outside car dealerships.
lmaoo he DOESSS
So many kisses, so many different people, so many different places...However, the exact same feelings from me. T.T Y CANT THEY BE TOGETHER?!?!
8:46 it looks like he's conducting the orchestra behind her back!
"play me off better you fools..."
Just a reminder:
Why does the Phantom not know what to do with his hands? The following reasons:
1) He wasn't expecting that kiss, and it hit him like a sucker punch.
*36 minutes of emotional arm spasms*
Okay but Peter Karrie's reaction at 11:15 (clip starts 10:55 ) is unique and ADORABLE he is so excited to have been kissed it melts my heart.
And then there was the Hungary production.
McKenna Thomas naah Attila Csengeri is the best
The Hungarians to me time it the best. It's so real.
Christine and Erik: *making out*
Meg: Raoul is dying
Christine and Erik: this ain’t about him.
(( yes I know Meg isn’t there but whatever))
This made my day honestly XD
Beginning: aww :)
5:00 ok, so the music is getting annoying...
36:00 MY EARS ARE BLEEDING.
SlowxParentsCrossing That's why you mute it like I did. ;)
SlowxParentsxCrossing go to 32.20 first and then start from the beginning. The percussion will be haunting you for 36 minutes.
@@codelyokofan56 Oh, NOW I see your comment. 🙄
😄
I remember seeing somewhere that John Cudia and Jennifer Hope Mills were a couple during the production and that's why their kiss was very passionate and sensual. They certainly were one of the more powerful kisses there.
i just watched a 36 minute video on the final layer kiss....worth it😀
Dem VHS tapes. Gotta love them.
Meadow Peace Also - in some of them - it looks like Christine attacks him. With her face. I wonder if any of the Phantoms had bruised lips?
+Meadow Peace Late to this, and to take your rhetorical question seriously - I imagine with all the makeup they have on, the Phantoms don't actually feel much. (Ah, deformity makeup - ugly as heck but protective in its way.) I remember an interview between Gary Mauer and Beth Southard regarding the kiss, and Mauer said that with all the makeup on he really can't feel anything. Also, IIRC Beth Southard added that she preferred the kiss with Raoul because the Phantom tastes like glue due to the makeup.
Glass Prism Haha I can understand why she would say that! It must be awkward.
The pure precioness in the Earl Carpenter and Rachel Harrell's kiss (2006) at 27:10! Everything is just perfect, not too much, not too less.
That is my fav too!!
1:30 is the Phantom's mind during this moment
Poor baby and his awkward hands
So interesting how different they really are; many end up paying homage to Crawford and keeping their arms wide before eventually curling them. However, Peter karrie (for example) touches his face and then rushes
back to examine her face, as if to see if he has hurt or changed her. Nicholas
Saverina actually holds her and lets her hold him up. Franc D’Ambrosio goes in
for another kiss before she offers it. Paul Stanley touches her with the back of his hands and
then shoves her away. Howard McGillan traces her body over and over, wanting to
touch her. Zoltan Miller straight up makes out with her. Atilla grabs her super
intensely. James Romick shakes his head as if realizing this is never what he
wanted. Tim Martin Gleason starts teasing at her hair. Matthew Camelle’s kiss
was very tender and sweet and she jerks back in shock from it. John Owen Jones also had a tender kiss after initially jerking to shove her away from him in fear. Earl pulls away
immediately when she touches the open wound on his face. Cudia drops to her
height and locks his arms around her waist. Jennifer Hope Willis rolls her hips against him. Ramin covers both of their faces with his hand to hide from the audience. Gina Beck withdraws in digust, touching her mouth but goes back
in after composing herself.
@@kittycatthelildevil4096 no not just you 😁 i prefer the older ones to the newer productions as well. there's a certain charm about them
I saw phantom in Denver a few weeks ago with Erik being played by Chris Mann and when Christine kissed him he fell to his knees, it was the best kiss I've seen by far
RAMIN KILLS IT AGAIN
Thank you so much for compiling all of these! This is one of my favorite kisses; the Phantom becomes almost powerless because someone kissed him for the first time in his life. (I hope that sounds right; he's not weak or ineffectual, but he's so overcome with emotions.)
Well said
Lol I love Hugh Panaro's reactions to the kiss. He's just flat out "the hell is going on right now?"
How some of the phantoms are having odd muscle spasms hahaha goodness
wow ... great
so many phantom's and kisses.
these different reactions......amazing.
my favorite phantom is scott davies. i saw him on may 2th and 3th in london.
great voice....fantastic performance and the most graceful handmotions i ever seen....goosebumbs and tears on both evenings......oh embarrassing .-)
Yeah I would have agreed if there was only one kiss
BUT
There's a second one afterwards.
This is only the second man she has kissed and there was a spark there she wasn't prepared for
@@audreyjbancroft6613 That's what I think too!
Watch love never dies. She was most definitely in love with the phantom but it scared her.
24:39 that 'woah!' hahaha someone was not expecting her to kiss him
Im really laughing right now everytime i see erik's arm stretching and having a mini stroke😂
Where tf was Ramin and Sierra!? That's the best one!!
Glass Prism Yeah, but, you put the Phantom with a lot of diferent Christines...
Yay! Love that bit as well. I was so born and raised in the wrong country... Try being Dutch and a Phan as well as a Whovian 😒
He was my first tv crush 🥺
And 33:43 John Owen-Jones, holy shit! I WISH I could have seen you!
I'm surprised how many of these do not make you believe they were truly in love....but...some of these were heart wrenching and right on point for their act.
Lol, at 9:33, Raoul is definitely upstaging them lol...
Raoul is like “ Oh dont mind me, Im just trying to escape this punjab lasso while you two kiss there for like 36 minutes ok!”
Love the Hungarian ones...they look like they were caught making out in their parents' basement! It's interesting seeing all of these and the myriad of approaches. Thanks for this!
That tune will be playing in my head all night, but thanks so much! This is SO interesting!
Only all night? Webber's music usually sticks in my head for a week or more! 🤯
I love how some of the Phantom's hands just freaking *spasm* because they're THAT surprised when they've had their first kiss with Christine.
- At first: Awww
five minutes later: This music is killing me!! x_x
- Oh God, how the hands are shaking from the Phantom! :D haha every time the hands^^
- 9:00 we see all perfect the kiss ^^
- I understand a "my" every time by the german vids, but I know the lyrics are "Das lass ich nicht zu!" o.O ..... (fifteen minutes later) Only now one can hear the "zu". But I still hear the "my". What's wrong? :/
- Too bad that Valerie link doesn't occur with Mathias Edenborn. They are currently playing in Hamburg, Germany and for me with Ramin and Sierra on the first place.
+Next.Musical.Actress
No in German Christine sings "du bist nicht allein" what means : you are not allone :)
+Bonnie92 oh yeah! I've just noticed that. thank you =)
+Bonnie92 oh yeah! I've just noticed that. thank you =)
+Bonnie92 oh yeah! I've just noticed that. thank you =)
When you see how the Phantom shakes during these passionate kisses, you should be feeling compassion the poor guy.
Some of the Raouls, they look as though they may REALLY get hung, the way some of them squirm.
does anyone know where I can find john Owens' performance from 33:47? one of my favorite parts of the book was Erik's reaction to the kiss, and I think this is the closest to it.
All four can be found on my TH-cam channel.
omg thankyou!
I wrote my comment here, but can't find it, strange. I wanted to say: I love Earl Carpenter's face: You see hope, surprise and incredulty all together or one just after the other. And when he covers his face again after the kiss, like he forgot to look that way for a moment and then suddently remembered it again.
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS IS CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER!!! Love the video too!
Because that's how it's done in the UK tour. I suppose it might be from the shock of the kiss. I think it might also be an allusion to the original novel, with the Phantom falling at Christine's feet and such.
Wow, JOJ and Katie Hall. That is incredible. I wish that reaction was done more often!
Christine and Erik: *Kissing*
Raoul: Don't mind me, just hanging here.
The Phantom and Christine from Hungary in 2004 look as if they're really in love ;).
the Phantom is like, wtf christine
why didn't you include rierra?? .....oh wait, you've already answered that one about a thousand times. seriously, thanks for the effort in putting this together, I really enjoy watching the different actor's portrayals of this scene.
Broadway and UK phantoms- shaky hands, hesitant and not knowing what to do
Hungary- intense make out session
I must say they really started to get carried away with that Hamburg makeup
The ones at 19:09 seemed to miss the count but their kiss was the best. Most passionate.
Correction: All the Hungarian versions are the best.
I enjoyed every second of this video! It’s just so interesting to see all of the little differences in this amazing scene.
This reminds me of the fact that once Hugh Panaro’s lip prosthetic once got stuck to a Christine during this, which is terrifying if you’re a performer but hilarious when you think about it
It also happened to Micheal Crawford!
Hugh: "it was really funny and, consummate professional that I am, I laughed." He's such a gem.
When Kevin Gray and Teri Bibb came on it immediately brought me to tears. RIP Kevin, we love u and miss u so incredibly much!!!!
Raoul is like “ yeah you kiss for 36 minutes there and don’t mind me watching and dying at the same time ok”
OMG at 1:31 I fell out of my seat that scared me so much 😂
8:57 was pretty sick with the kissing while the guy is strangled XD
9:00 is best. I love watching specks make-out XD
10:00 COLOR EARTHQUAKE!!!!
10:30. Thats a zombie. Dont fuck with me she is kissing a zombie.
(Note : Some of these girls are rapid grabbing these guys and kissing. I worry for their necks. )
12:50 WTH is wrong with that phantom!?! HIS HEAD.
17:40 I like that one. If the phantom looked less like a golem I would say thats my favorite.
21:24 muahaha more strangling..
This is like one of my favourite vids on TH-cam! I listen and watch this vid all the time. Those kisses just leaves me 😍😍
With this video, I get to see a lot of people kissing, the Phantom's makeup development, and videography development. Really cool how you got so much footage for this video though. Good job!
This whole comment section made my day.
I actually love when he knows what to do with his arms and grabs her tight. It’s so sweet, what would be the best would be him being shocked and freezing for a second, and then as soon as he can think he grabs her and kisses her back firmly, that would be perfect
I agree. The second kiss should be his opportunity to hold her and kiss her properly
Remember, kids: Raoul rhymes with Foul
Look at Elizabeth Southard going all in for that kiss! It’s so obvious it’s her husband she’s kissing ❤️
this is so interresting how phantom i played in all those countries, it's amazing to see how each actor gives is own interpretation of ths character. I only knew the US , Uk and german version but not the others. what is also great is that when we see the show even if we don't speak the language we know the lyrics !Thanks for it great video :)
25:15 love how in this version he didn't even know what to do with his head (but to wave it around)...
Thank you. Great memories of Scott, Peter and Ian Jon (lived in the UK at around that time and went to a lot of shows.)
Legit all of these are 1,000,000 times better than the movie. Eric isn’t supposed to act all sexy! He’s supposed to be shocked that anyone would ever show him love! Love these clips.
12:43
This is cool; also I agree with the description, and that is the only footage I’ve ever seen of Brent and Sierra
