I've had an obsession practically with Ramin Karimloo for years, and he is by far the best. He is one of my favorite singers and actors of all Broadway. Highly underrated, in my opinion. His interpretation is very different from the others. He has such power, and sings it in a rock/Broadway voice, as opposed to the other phantoms. Most others sang in an operatic, classical way, the vibrato can feel overbearing if it is held out and dramatic that entire note (which is very long)! Not to mention that his interpretation fits the phantom the way he was written most. Bravo, Ramin, you never disappoint!! Absolutely phenomenal!!
Fits it the way it was written? Really? It's called the phantom of the "opera". He supposed to teach Christine how to sing classical opera. If we're going by what makes the most sense from a literary standpoint, then no he would not sound more rock or Broadway. He would sound more classical. Crawford extended that 'you' so long and so well! Just brilliant! I recently watched the Royal Albert Hall performance with Karimloo and the way he switches notes is beyond impressive! Love it!

I love that I can feel every word and the emotions even if I can’t see his face fully cuz of the mask, or even just by hearing his voice like when I’m listening to the soundtrack of POTO and Love Never Dies. He is THE Phantom. For me he is the BEST phantom. But in this reprise, I also like Colm and JOJ also Norm, but Ramin is the best for me.
Even though Ramin is kind of overrated (it's just my opinion, please don't shoot me), I have to admit that the way he does the climax in "All I Ask of You (Reprise)" is one of my favorites. But my favorite interpretation of the falsetto range is probably between Ben Lewis and Max Niemeyer, who was the Phantom understudy for PotO Oberhausen. Seriously, go check out the latter. He is absolutely amazing!
When Ramin uses straight tone, it just sends chills all throughout my body. So stable and composed. Like a laser beam of sound. You can feel his energy in it too, unreal.

ramin. it's not even a question. he's the only one that puts in the drama and the pain of the song and story into his singing, while still keeping the phrasing on point. The crescendo, the ritardando, all of it was timed perfectly even down to when he took his breaths. pristine. visceral. unforgettable
Actors are putting in the emotion its jsut that Ramin puts in an entirely different emotion that it works really well and sounds so different. Also yes. I've heard that phantom performance have been lacking lately. I guess everyone is just tired.
I mean Ramin will always be the best Phantom in my heart. Not just as a fangirl or because he happens to be gorgeous, but his voice is just beautiful. Like butter.

I agree so much! Those 4 are in my top 5 Phantoms. My other favorite is Gerard Butler, I know its unpopular but I love how he is singing and kinda yelling it showing all his emotion. Ramin is best still with execution and beauty, Michael is classic and Colm and Norm are good as well, but I just want to add Gerard Butler to that list as well.
My favorites were: Michael Crawford at 0:25 (love his heartbreak in his voice especially with the “you will curse” line and when he says “all”) Norm Lewis at 1:04 (love his rage but also that he didn’t go over the top with it) John Cudia at 2:08 (lots of emotion but so controlled) Geronimo Raunch at 3:12 (love that vehement nooo) Eiji Akutagawa at 4:14 (love his more sad and betrayed approach rather than an angry and vengeful approach) David Shannon at 7:01 (so clear and resonant) Gary Mauer at 7:33(lots of anguish in his voice) Gerard Butler at 9:57 (not a lot of power in his voice but like the trembling emotion in his vocals) Ramin Karimloo at 10:20 (so much power and anguish)
The Phantom is an outsider, so, to me, voices that have power but no nuance or peculiarity aren't interesting. I love Micheal Crawford and Colm Wilkinson because their voices are so distinctive. John Owen Jones will always have a special place in my heart, out of all the Phantoms I saw live, he was the one who impressed me the most.
Michael Crawford will ALWAYS be my favorite. And Colm Wilkinson was my second favorite. They both are, like you said, distinctive and portray an emotional character. Most of the others were just belting out lyric with no feeling at all. No character. IMHO, of course. And I suppose my third fave would be Ramin Karimloo, only because I have that performance at Royal Albert Hall on Blu-Ray.
There were some really great phantoms in here, but every time I hear Ramin sing it's like I've died and gone to heaven! My gosh, that man is phenomenal in this role.
Is it possible for you to do who sang Raoul's "I fought so hard to free you" best during the final lair? Doubt anyone else wants it lol as it's not an impressive line vocally, just emotionally, but it's a line I love because it shows Raoul loved Christine, but so many actors don't do it justice. For the movie's (many) flaws, I've only found that Patrick Wilson is the one who makes the line hit home, where others sing the line like it's nothing important. I'm curious how a lot of Raouls do it, but don't have the effort to find all the recordings myself lol.
I'm game. I was always feelin' the emotion when Steve Barton did it in the OCR. And yes with the 2004 movie, I remember thinking damn this Raoul really DID do everything possible to try to free her haha, so I felt it there too
My top 5: 1.Ramin Karimloo-You just can't beat him. His voice is amazing and makes you truly feel for the phantom. Also, his acting is incredible. Wish he played phantom more. 2.Michael Crawford-He's THE phantom. No more to say. 3.Earl Carpenter- I love his voice and acting combined. 4.John Owen-Jones- So underrated. Has one of THE best voices. Richard Williams right here haha. Colm wilkinson is hands down the best voice for the phantom out of any of them! And next to him I'd have to say Michael Crawford! They both have haunting voices in their own ways! But they sound unique where the rest of these singers all seem to lack don't in anyway!
Idk i always imagined The phantom having a more rich voice that's full of depth. (Like JOJ orRamin) I always saw Raoul as more of a tenor or a baritone that sounds really bright (Like Patrick in the movie).

Anyway yeah I feel like Michael gets overlooked a lot nowadays because the Ramin version exists. But I'm not mad at that, everyone is more sentimental/partial to the versions they see first or know the best. I got into all this back in the 90s when all we had were short clips and the recording with Crawford, so he's still at the top for me. (Well, and you actually got to see him live, lol, lucky!) What always impressed me with him is how much thought, care and emotion he put into the character....you can tell he really had a lot of sympathy for Erik whenever you listen to him talk in interviews. And frankly, if we didn't have an actor like that originating the role, who's to say? Maybe it never would have been as popular. He brought the heart back to the character/story (which had frankly gotten tossed out the window after the original Leroux story). Obviously ALW and the writers made that happen, too, but Michael is the one who brought him to life and wooed all the audience members lol...
I mean when you’re character is described as both a phantom and an angel, it’s a good idea to get a guy that can do both of those things with his voice, simultaneously. Hence why Michael Crawford is great casting.
As generic as it is, I'd have to go with Ramin Karimloo for my favourite rendition. And as awful as his singing was, Gerard Butler's voice does sound distressed and angry, which I can't say for some of the other singers. Even though they no doubt sang the notes beautifully, I didn't feel the weight of their rage at all. For me, the best performances in the video are where their voice trembles and vowels are pronounced in such a way that closer resembles how one's voice wavers or whines when upset or angry. I think Ramin achieved where Gerard fell severely short in having beautiful technique while also using a bit of grit and vocal stylisations to convey the utter rage and sadness of the moment.
I’m sorry, but Gerald Butler, was once of the worst performances in the video, Ramin adds anger and skill. Gerald did add anger but Ramin has real skill.
Gerard Butler's voice isn't bad, it's just wrong for the role. Besides which, he is a good-looking man, and he's never looked handsomer than in the film, so he's wrong for the role on that account as well!
I personally like the phantom to have a little bit more Operatic voice so the third one is great but I love love love John Owen Jones. He has such a softness and yet grittiness that makes me have goosebumps all around my body. It’s truly amazing. Of course Ramin is amazing as well but the thing that impresses me is the end note for him so I wouldn’t say he did the whole climax the best. Given the fact that I was brought up on Gerard’s version I was shocked to see all of these different styles coming together.
Ramin. Always. He not only has perfect pitch and phrasing but combines all this with every nuance of the emotion essential to this character at this moment. He sounds beautiful, but at the same time powerful and utterly terrifying. He is, after all, issuing a threat here, and he's just killed one person who did something to make him mad only minutes before. I, for one, would make haste to do all that this Phantom asked of me.
I don't care what anyone will say. No one will ever surpass Ramin Karimloo. His emotion in this is impeccable. His whole performance as The Phantom in this and in Love Never Dies. I feel sorrow for him every time when he sings this. Especially when he puts his hands to his ears before singing this unforgettable climax before the end of Act I. He will always be The Phantom.
You are probably too young and haven't seen Michael Crawford, Dave Willetts, Peter Karrie, Colm Wilkinson, John Owen Jones and sure, Ramin comes right after those legends who were his inspirations and idols, according to him. I've seen them all, more than 35 performers, Ramin is definitely one of the very best, but not the best. While Sierra was indeed the best Christine. Then follows Sarah Brightman. Now, having said that, those were all primary phantoms, Ramin came much later and since him, nobody has managed to even get close to his performance. But Ramin's performance is based on Michael Crawford and Colm Wilkinson, he has said so himself.
As much as I hate Gerard Butlers singing, I can appreciate that hyoid could feel the emotion there, unlike most of the other phantoms. But I mean, cmon, does anyone stand a chance against Karimloo?
Look, I like Ramin as much as the next person, but be real: He's the only person here who got the most high quality of pro-shot recordings, and everyone else is on someones shitty phone, or even vhs. You all seriously gonna sit here and act like you can decide who's the best from this kind of comparison? Also, where the hell is Ben Crawford in all of these?
That's a fair point, but I don't believe that's the main reason he's appreciated more than the others. Most preferred his version of the phantom in Love Never Dies, despite not being professionally recorded. The same goes for me as well. The Ramin and Sierra version of LND had some of the worst quality I've seen on TH-cam, yet I still prefer it to the Australian production, which was professionally recorded, and had better costumes and staging.

Ramin is obviously immensely talented and perfect for the stage, but I feel like he's more angry in the delivery, (which is still fitting for the scene). but I prefer Gerald's as his rendition sounds more heartbreaking to me in the moment, not necessarily that he's the best singer, although I actually like his singing just fine. I'm quite impressed with Eiji A. phantom as well, very nice voice
Ak Kr you put my thoughts into words. Butler’s singing wasn’t even that bad to me, I like how imperfect it is. Also it’s unrelated but I love Butler’s portrayal of the Phantom in the ending of the movie. He feels defeated and lets his guard down, he finally shows a bit of the humanity that the Phantom has lost. He goes back to simply being a lonely child, innocent and vulnerable, completely enraptured by a toy monkey as his only friend in the world. That scene always makes me cry because of how sad the Phantom’s life really is, he may have been a murderous and obsessive bastard and nothing will ever excuse his wrongdoings, but the cruelty he received since birth was nothing short of heartbreaking and tragic.
Nepeta Leijon Yes, GB is completely vulnerable in that scene with the toy monkey. Michael Crawford is my favorite though, when he sings in the POTO, it's magical. He totally embodies the Phantom; interestingly enough, although I enjoy his singing of other material, with a few exceptions, it doesn't move me like this does.
I have to say Ramin Karimloo is the best. He is my number one favorite phantom. He has an awesome singing voice and he is so emotional too. I also love James Barbour because I saw him on Broadway and he was so awesome and he has such a powerful voice; Michael Crawford because he is the original phantom and he’s so creepy; John Owen Jones because he has such a beautiful voice; and Hugh Panaro because he has an awesome high voice and he is also creepy.
Michael Crawford is infinitely the best Phantom. His voice is so hypnotic, mesmerising with such emotion. The other booming voices just can’t communicate the nuances that Michael’s voice carries. Love Michael Crawford’s amazing Phantom!! 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Ramin & Gerard are tied in my opinion. P.S. Gerard’s vocals are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. True, he may not have operatic training, but he still did a wonderful job. He trained for months and it definitely paid off.

I always want there to be extreme and visible anger in this part which is why my all-time favourite is Gerard Butler, but since it’s not realistic to expect that of someone who has to do the show multiple times a week, I gotta say Ben Lewis (because I absolutely love him).

Don’t compare Gerard to the others. He isn’t classically trained so you can’t put him on the same level cos clearly he isn’t on the same tier. What he does bring to the role is the acting aspect which I think is really genuine and amazing from him. He captures the essence of the phantom even if he can’t sing it

crawford is the og, gave emotion very well lewis's performance was incredibly moving, it's very particular in every version i've watched. gaines wasn't my favorite, but his voice is very powerful cudia has a gorgeous voice, great feeling at the end. chills little has a powerful and deep voice, i just didn't get much emotion rauch is my fourth favorite, i love how his phantom gives so much resentment wilkinson's singing voice isn't outstanding, but the emotion portrayed makes up for it greatly akutagawa has a very impressive voice, lots of depth but again i didn't pick up much feeling not much comment on grodin's. not the worst, not the best. carpenter has a lovely voice, but it did feel like he was just hitting the notes. forster is my second favorite for sure, just purely amazing in all formats owen-jones' voice was jarring, but has very deep emotion in his voice warlow was alright, it felt very light for the most part shannon is on par with rauch mauer also acted it very well, the distraught feeling in his voice is so bold ben lewis gave me chills as well, incredibly powerful voice and powerful actung as well barbour has another very large voice, but not my favorite jöback sounds a lot like crawford, it gives a better sense of revenge panaro's voice is definitely not my favorite, but the acting is good butler's performance doesn't have a very strong voice, but the emotion makes up for it as well. makes sense since it's a movie. third favorite considering he took only four voice lessons before recording. karimloo is my favorite, absolutely gorgeous sound and you can just hear the angered pain in his voice.
Earl Carpenter, Ben Forster, Gary Mauer (he’s astounding, why does he never get recognition), Ben Lewis (MY SON!), Norm Lewis, Ramin Karimloo (MY OTHER SON!!)- to name just a few of my favorites.
Ben Lewis's voice is astounding and suits every aspect of Erik's character so well, from strength to strength really with the commandingly powerful verses into the angelic lull of MoTN. I think his performance goes vastly underappreciated, as a lot of people dislike Love Never Dies 2012 and/or find his acting stiff.
Ramin, Eiji and Geronimo have the best breath support on the last note which imo is the most important part of the reprise. Some others had really beautiful timbres n tones but the hold is really difficult and they wound up going flat :(
If anyone was wondering, in Japanese what he said was これほどの辱めを決して許しはしないぞ which means (in ... not particularly polite phrasing 😅) "I will never forgive such a 辱め". That word has a range of meanings along the lines of 'shame', 'disgrace', 'insult', and 'violation'. So, uh, yeah, he's REALLY taking this shit personal.
Anthony Warlow was done really dirty by this video! Very rarely will you hear an imperfection in his voice, and this recorder managed to somehow capture one. Warlow is the best Phantom EVER. It's not even close. Nobody has ever (or probably will ever) come close to matching his power, tone, colour, support, spin, soul, passion, or vocal body. He is one of the greatest vocalists alive, if not possibly ever.
FAVORITES: RAMIN KARIMLOO! (MY SON! WE LOVE HIM!), John Gudia (Cudia?) (I like his voice), Brad Little (Really love his voice), Norm Lewis (Ive always loved his voice), Geronimo Rauch, Eyu Akutagawa (not my favorite but he's good!), Cooper Grodin, Earl Carpenter (favorite phantom with a higher voice), Ben Forster (YES), John Owen-Jones (i love him), Gary Mauer (Wow! He's really good), Ben Lewis (he's always awesome), James Barbour (I like his vibrato). LEAST FAVORITES: Gerard Butler (Too autotuned and he's not really a Broadway singer), and any of the other higher voiced phantoms that I didn't mention in my favorites because there's something powerful about a lower-voiced phantom to me.
Grace Guglielmana I agree, especially about Gerard Butler. He can’t sing to save his life. (He literally screamed half his notes because they were too high for him to hit normally)
I mean, I always feel like nobody holds a candle to Michael Crawford, but partly because he's the original. I really didn't like the 2004 Phantom (Gerard Butler?), I felt like he wasn't as "deep" with the character, like he just wasn't all that invested in it, and played it at face value rather than delving any deeper.
100% Ramin Karimloo. The vocals were magnificent - range incredible. But you could also hear the emotion in his voice, unlike other Phantoms. He made it his own and really did incredible. 100% the best Phantom as well. I LOVE YOU RAMIN! Side note, you could truly hear the pain and hurt that his character feels, but he still holds onto the amazing climax without any fault. The Phantom was MADE for Ramin. I would say second would be Anthony Warlow.

Again Ramin, he is the phantom in my eyes, Fabulous vocals, but also fantastic acting.. John Owen Jones and Geronimo Rauch are als favorites of mine. Have to say that a lot of the men are absolutely great, some recordings are better then others, but there is a lot of talent out there!

The crescendo, the ritardando, all of it was timed perfectly even down to when he took his breaths. pristine. visceral. unforgettable

Actors are putting in the emotion its jsut that Ramin puts in an entirely different emotion that it works really well and sounds so different. Also yes. I've heard that phantom performance have been lacking lately. I guess everyone is just tired.

I agree so much! Those 4 are in my top 5 Phantoms. My other favorite is Gerard Butler, I know its unpopular but I love how he is singing and kinda yelling it showing all his emotion. Ramin is best still with execution and beauty, Michael is classic and Colm and Norm are good as well, but I just want to add Gerard Butler to that list as well.

The Phantom is an outsider, so, to me, voices that have power but no nuance or peculiarity aren't interesting. I love Micheal Crawford and Colm Wilkinson because their voices are so distinctive. John Owen Jones will always have a special place in my heart, out of all the Phantoms I saw live, he was the one who impressed me the most.
Michael Crawford will ALWAYS be my favorite. And Colm Wilkinson was my second favorite. They both are, like you said, distinctive and portray an emotional character. Most of the others were just belting out lyric with no feeling at all. No character. IMHO, of course. And I suppose my third fave would be Ramin Karimloo, only because I have that performance at Royal Albert Hall on Blu-Ray.

Is it possible for you to do who sang Raoul's "I fought so hard to free you" best during the final lair? Doubt anyone else wants it lol as it's not an impressive line vocally, just emotionally, but it's a line I love because it shows Raoul loved Christine, but so many actors don't do it justice. For the movie's (many) flaws, I've only found that Patrick Wilson is the one who makes the line hit home, where others sing the line like it's nothing important. I'm curious how a lot of Raouls do it, but don't have the effort to find all the recordings myself lol.

Anyway yeah I feel like Michael gets overlooked a lot nowadays because the Ramin version exists. But I'm not mad at that, everyone is more sentimental/partial to the versions they see first or know the best. I got into all this back in the 90s when all we had were short clips and the recording with Crawford, so he's still at the top for me. (Well, and you actually got to see him live, lol, lucky!) What always impressed me with him is how much thought, care and emotion he put into the character....you can tell he really had a lot of sympathy for Erik whenever you listen to him talk in interviews. And frankly, if we didn't have an actor like that originating the role, who's to say? Maybe it never would have been as popular. He brought the heart back to the character/story (which had frankly gotten tossed out the window after the original Leroux story). Obviously ALW and the writers made that happen, too, but Michael is the one who brought him to life and wooed all the audience members lol...

I mean when you’re character is described as both a phantom and an angel, it’s a good idea to get a guy that can do both of those things with his voice, simultaneously. Hence why Michael Crawford is great casting.
As generic as it is, I'd have to go with Ramin Karimloo for my favourite rendition. And as awful as his singing was, Gerard Butler's voice does sound distressed and angry, which I can't say for some of the other singers. Even though they no doubt sang the notes beautifully, I didn't feel the weight of their rage at all. For me, the best performances in the video are where their voice trembles and vowels are pronounced in such a way that closer resembles how one's voice wavers or whines when upset or angry. I think Ramin achieved where Gerard fell severely short in having beautiful technique while also using a bit of grit and vocal stylisations to convey the utter rage and sadness of the moment.

I personally like the phantom to have a little bit more Operatic voice so the third one is great but I love love love John Owen Jones. He has such a softness and yet grittiness that makes me have goosebumps all around my body. It’s truly amazing. Of course Ramin is amazing as well but the thing that impresses me is the end note for him so I wouldn’t say he did the whole climax the best. Given the fact that I was brought up on Gerard’s version I was shocked to see all of these different styles coming together.

Ramin. Always. He not only has perfect pitch and phrasing but combines all this with every nuance of the emotion essential to this character at this moment. He sounds beautiful, but at the same time powerful and utterly terrifying. He is, after all, issuing a threat here, and he's just killed one person who did something to make him mad only minutes before. I, for one, would make haste to do all that this Phantom asked of me.

You are probably too young and haven't seen Michael Crawford, Dave Willetts, Peter Karrie, Colm Wilkinson, John Owen Jones and sure, Ramin comes right after those legends who were his inspirations and idols, according to him. I've seen them all, more than 35 performers, Ramin is definitely one of the very best, but not the best. While Sierra was indeed the best Christine. Then follows Sarah Brightman. Now, having said that, those were all primary phantoms, Ramin came much later and since him, nobody has managed to even get close to his performance. But Ramin's performance is based on Michael Crawford and Colm Wilkinson, he has said so himself.

That's a fair point, but I don't believe that's the main reason he's appreciated more than the others. Most preferred his version of the phantom in Love Never Dies, despite not being professionally recorded.
The same goes for me as well. The Ramin and Sierra version of LND had some of the worst quality I've seen on TH-cam, yet I still prefer it to the Australian production, which was professionally recorded, and had better costumes and staging.
I really enjoy Gerard Butler's version. I really feel for his rendition of the character. Even if he's not the best singer.

Ak Kr you put my thoughts into words. Butler’s singing wasn’t even that bad to me, I like how imperfect it is. Also it’s unrelated but I love Butler’s portrayal of the Phantom in the ending of the movie. He feels defeated and lets his guard down, he finally shows a bit of the humanity that the Phantom has lost. He goes back to simply being a lonely child, innocent and vulnerable, completely enraptured by a toy monkey as his only friend in the world. That scene always makes me cry because of how sad the Phantom’s life really is, he may have been a murderous and obsessive bastard and nothing will ever excuse his wrongdoings, but the cruelty he received since birth was nothing short of heartbreaking and tragic.
Nepeta Leijon Yes, GB is completely vulnerable in that scene with the toy monkey. Michael Crawford is my favorite though, when he sings in the POTO, it's magical. He totally embodies the Phantom; interestingly enough, although I enjoy his singing of other material, with a few exceptions, it doesn't move me like this does.
I have to say Ramin Karimloo is the best. He is my number one favorite phantom. He has an awesome singing voice and he is so emotional too. I also love James Barbour because I saw him on Broadway and he was so awesome and he has such a powerful voice; Michael Crawford because he is the original phantom and he’s so creepy; John Owen Jones because he has such a beautiful voice; and Hugh Panaro because he has an awesome high voice and he is also creepy.

P.S. Gerard’s vocals are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. True, he may not have operatic training, but he still did a wonderful job. He trained for months and it definitely paid off.

In my honest opinion, Gerard Butler did the best job out of all the men who sang the final verse of this. If you guys think someone else was the best, that's cool. This is just my own opinion.

Don’t compare Gerard to the others. He isn’t classically trained so you can’t put him on the same level cos clearly he isn’t on the same tier. What he does bring to the role is the acting aspect which I think is really genuine and amazing from him. He captures the essence of the phantom even if he can’t sing it

Ben Lewis's voice is astounding and suits every aspect of Erik's character so well, from strength to strength really with the commandingly powerful verses into the angelic lull of MoTN. I think his performance goes vastly underappreciated, as a lot of people dislike Love Never Dies 2012 and/or find his acting stiff.
Ramin, Eiji and Geronimo have the best breath support on the last note which imo is the most important part of the reprise. Some others had really beautiful timbres n tones but the hold is really difficult and they wound up going flat :(

Anthony Warlow was done really dirty by this video! Very rarely will you hear an imperfection in his voice, and this recorder managed to somehow capture one. Warlow is the best Phantom EVER. It's not even close. Nobody has ever (or probably will ever) come close to matching his power, tone, colour, support, spin, soul, passion, or vocal body. He is one of the greatest vocalists alive, if not possibly ever.

RAMIN KARIMLOO! (MY SON! WE LOVE HIM!), John Gudia (Cudia?) (I like his voice), Brad Little (Really love his voice), Norm Lewis (Ive always loved his voice), Geronimo Rauch, Eyu Akutagawa (not my favorite but he's good!), Cooper Grodin, Earl Carpenter (favorite phantom with a higher voice), Ben Forster (YES), John Owen-Jones (i love him), Gary Mauer (Wow! He's really good), Ben Lewis (he's always awesome), James Barbour (I like his vibrato).
LEAST FAVORITES:
Gerard Butler (Too autotuned and he's not really a Broadway singer), and any of the other higher voiced phantoms that I didn't mention in my favorites because there's something powerful about a lower-voiced phantom to me.
Grace Guglielmana I agree, especially about Gerard Butler. He can’t sing to save his life. (He literally screamed half his notes because they were too high for him to hit normally)
I mean, I always feel like nobody holds a candle to Michael Crawford, but partly because he's the original.
I really didn't like the 2004 Phantom (Gerard Butler?), I felt like he wasn't as "deep" with the character, like he just wasn't all that invested in it, and played it at face value rather than delving any deeper.

The vocals were magnificent - range incredible. But you could also hear the emotion in his voice, unlike other Phantoms. He made it his own and really did incredible. 100% the best Phantom as well. I LOVE YOU RAMIN! Side note, you could truly hear the pain and hurt that his character feels, but he still holds onto the amazing climax without any fault. The Phantom was MADE for Ramin.

Michael Crawford will always be the best to me. His voice throughout the entire show was so breathtaking,and it truly made me feel for the Phantom. Truly not the same for me without him.

Again Ramin, he is the phantom in my eyes, Fabulous vocals, but also fantastic acting.. John Owen Jones and Geronimo Rauch are als favorites of mine. Have to say that a lot of the men are absolutely great, some recordings are better then others, but there is a lot of talent out there!
