    I am thankful (or maybe the word is envious) you have the freedom to live the way you live, to go the places you go and see the things you see, and do the things you do. You have been truly blessed.

    Jonathan - check out the “Heng's Vortex II Vent Fan.” It’s a retrofit fan for your roof vent that installs in place of the screen. I had the same vent as you in my vintage travel trailer and the install was probably less than 30 minutes. Having the fan is a game changer. Take care!

    As others have said about your Carbon Monoxide alarm. CO alarm should be below your bed and seating height, if you fall asleep on your couch...

    Jonathan, Looks great, I watched from the start. But I will add this: it is bigger inside then it looks, and the layout is great, and the 4 door truck helps with storage too

    I see the empty spaces on the truck bed on either side of the camper. Maybe you can put up some netting on the truck bed and you can keep you fire wood and stuff back there.

    Great job! Love seeing how your journey has unfolded. Just for safety move your CO2 detector closer to the floor as that's where CO2 is first detected. I did what you did and was told by others. So keeping ya safe!

    • @ricecowboy
      @ricecowboy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a myth. Firstly, it's a CO detector, not a CO2. The molar mass of CO is actually fractionally lighter than air (which is mostly nitrogen-N2 and oxygen-O2), not heavier. Indoor studies have yielded no significant difference between CO monitors placed in the ceiling, walls, and floor. Follow manufacturer instructions when installing CO devices.

    • @garymccarver5006
      @garymccarver5006 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes your CO detector should be place near the floor. CO will settle low, smoke goes to the ceiling. Hence why RV manufacturers place CO detectors near the floor and smoke detectors on the ceiling, per the device manufacturers instructions. There's a reason for that.

    ‘Curtain” does have a “T” in it which most younger Americans fail to pronounce so the word comes out as “cur-nns”. Pay no attention to those who razz you about pronouncing the “T”. I am happy to hear someone who speaks proper English!

    I’ve saved tiny pieces of old layers of wallpaper and paint in framed 3x3 squares by the floor trim around in different parts of my apartment as I renovate my 101 years old apartment. It’s so amazing having tiny pieces of history left to look at. I’m glad to see it in other homes like this one.

  • @offairhead
    @offairhead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You did a great job on the Reno. Just a little note, though,…. Smoke detectors go towards the ceiling but carbon monoxide detectors go near the floor. The reason for this is because carbon monoxide is heavier than oxygen so it fills the room from the bottom first. By the time the ceiling-mounted detector you have goes off the levels will already be toxic.

    Something to consider for camper tie down under the bed of the truck: merely use a long one piece length of thick wall 2" square steel tubing. Bolt it to the frame/bolt a piece of channel iron to the frame/then bolt the 2" tubing to the bottom of the channel iron, if need to lower the 2" tubing below the frame. The 2" tubing is minimal cost. Drill holes in each end of the 2" tubing and install eye bolts, to which you can attach your camper tie down chains/spring loaded tied downs/etc. Also, when you need to jack the truck up for any reason, the strength of the thick wall 2" tubing allows you to put a hydraulic jack under the outer end of the 2" tubing for a jack support when jacking up your truck.
    Another good use of the 2" thick wall tubing: if your trailer hitch has a 2" opening going through the trailer hitch mounting assembly, push a 2" thick wall square tube through the opening in the trailer hitch assembly. This will accomplish at least 2 things: have the 2" tubing extend out past the end of the bumper and use it for attaching camper tie downs; install some heavy duty eye bolts/tow hooks/ etc and they shall be available should you require being towed sometime; the 2" tubing will also act as an extra bumper to the rear of the truck; can hang mud flaps on the 2" tubing also. I've used this setup on every truck I've had over these past many years. Hope this helps others out there...

    Nice tour Jonathan!
    I had a vintage P.U.Camper on a half ton 4X4 F-150.
    It was great, spacious, convenient, and comfortable…but…
    was all too slow on back roads.
    So I downsized to a ‘97 sport Cherokee 4X4, which I converted into a rv camper.
    It is very nimble and allows me to explore much more of the back country
    I love it!
    Safe Travels!

      Propane is heavy. Often dectectors for propane meant for RVs are combined with CO detectors, and those units are meant to be mounted low. There are smoke detector/CO detector combo units that are meant to be mounted high. CO specific detectors can me mounted anywhere.

    I bought a used popup camper last oct. You can camp in it now if you wanted, but...it's fugly inside. For a 93 model, the interior seems a little 70ish lol. That solid wood paneling look. The water heater was removed, and pump, so no water system. I wouldn't have used it anyhow lol YUK. Makes it's that much lighter. Anyway, I know nothing about them. I have a lot to learn. Waiting on a better bit of weather and then I'll go out and raise it and set it up and see what I've gotten myself into. It will be a learn as you go project as well. I already feel your pain. I've watched some renovation vids, but I'm not looking to get to fancy. Portable, rechargeable and solar items is all I'm putting in it. It has a real AC someone installed. So researching what items I need. Like the Mr. Buddy heater. Those come highly recommended. I see them on every outdoor, camping type vids. I have camping, backpacking gear, but I need to upgrade. I need to get everything. I did get a rechargeable portable power station 500 watt I think for $140. Thought that was a great deal. However, it was a clearance sale. It was 5 stars. We will see lol. It can be recharged by electric, solar or cig lighter outlet in vehicle. So I'm looking at everyones vids. checking out their equipment, where they got it, how it holds up etc..
