Make more Mick dolls with his iconic rainbow striped sweater and add a Phil doll complete with the cut off jeans and the battered, sweat stained hat complete with feather and sell them. TT has such a huge following that I’m sure that fans would buy them as quickly as they could be advertised. All profits would go to TT to fund future digs. At least think about it!
I’m glad that I’m not the only person who thinks so. Having my own Mick and Phil dolls would be such fun. I wonder who made the Mick doll shown in the video.
I think there's a certain amount of, shall we way, moral and legal questions to address in respect to the personalities involved, and in the cases of some who've passed, their families, in how they'd feel about being made into dolls and sold. At the very least, they'd need to be asked. It's not really up to TT, as a brand, to just make decisions like that.
I would absolutely buy a Mick doll! Great idea! Not sure it would be doable, for the reasons Blisterdude123 stated - but how lovely to see that they keep Mick with them, not only in their thoughts, but also in cuddly form.
That Mick doll is the most heartwarming thing you guys have done. It’s like he’s still supervising over the digs! It may not be the same without him or Phil but I’m loving what you have done, thank you for bringing back Time Team!
Join us tonight for all the action behind the scenes during the filming of Time Team's upcoming Knights Hospitaller preceptory dig. The main episode itself (featuring the full story and outcome of the dig) will premiere in Spring 2023, right here on TH-cam. Look out for details of an exclusive UK competition - coming soon...
If you look at her Wikipedia page you will see she has done a few other TV programmes in the last few years that are probably still available online. Also President of the Council for British Archaeology.
This was really fun. I am very happy to hear that you will be having Pub gatherings. That is a cheerful wrap up at the end of the day. I'm sure the locals love it also. Maybe you could invite Phil out to the site at the wrap up summary and Pub gathering. That would bring the original Time Team into the New. You could present him with a new hat, please.
This is shaping up to be an exciting TimeTeam episode - I can't wait to see the full programme next Spring. I'm really enjoying the additional content that is regularly being posted on Patreon too - keep up the good work.
I hope TT goes heavy on the experimental archeology! Always one of my favorite things, was re-creating processes, customs, and items of antiquity. So great to see Time Team growing again, and doing it's important work!
Ah thanks so much. You will of course see more new Time Team thanks to our amazing Patreon supporters. We couldn’t do this without them and the more supporters we get the more new episodes we can make too 😊
I highly recommend this every chance I get, and I just renewed my Patreon subscription! TIME TEAM is BACK... and that I helped (in a small way) makes me feel proud. Cheers everyone 🍻
Very excited to see this one, which is just down the road from me. My archaeologist friend, Ian Davies was on this dig, but I’m sure he won’t divulge any secrets!
Well that was fab! Really like the editing, especially with the addition of some new shots we hadn't seen in the original dig watch coverage. Very excited for the full episodes!
I agree, I'm always impressed with the excellent editing. The blending of voices into/over the next scene (I don't know the technical term) makes those short shots work together seamlessly. A great team of professionals.👍
Oh I loved that ending bit…loving all of these extra episodes to embellish the full length features…I am so happy to see this show still alive and well…and more importantly to see it in good hands…
Love everything guys very excited to see the full episode. Disappointed that haven't been able to get hold of a time team flag any chance these are to be produced.
I do like the new crew, but I really miss the old fellowship! They were a funny bunch of old men! But then I watched them for a long time too! I look forward to watching you all as well.
The update was great! Did Hilda get to go back to Holland for the Tilburg Redhead Day? Stuart is as enthusiastic as ever about landscape and I really enjoy his analysis. Matt I still see in a slave outfit..sorry Matt, you are also an amazing archeologist, obviously. So good to have the input of the og...John, Carenza and Helen. I am so looking forward to this dig episode! (and the Mick doll needs to feature in all episodes...as does the skipping to the pub!)
Looks like a Fantastic Dig! BUT WHERE IS PHIL…!??? Is he still stuck in the Napoleonic Wars, and when will he be back? It isn't REALLY a Time Team Dig without a Phil Comment! 😀 👍
I'm really looking forward to seeing the new programme. One tiny detail that could be attended to, however. Please can the interviewer in the grey t-shirt be taught how to pronounce preceptory by the time it's screened. 🙏
For your students - I asked GPT-4 to put together some Transferable Skills that they can feature on their resumes in the future: 1. Teamwork and collaboration: Working alongside professional archaeologists and other participants, demonstrating the ability to cooperate and contribute effectively to a team project. 2. Attention to detail: Carefully excavating and documenting findings from the test pits, showcasing a strong focus on accuracy and precision. 3. Analytical skills: Interpreting and understanding the significance of archaeological finds, drawing connections between artifacts and historical context. 4. Research and critical thinking: Using various sources of information to learn more about the Knights Hospitaller preceptory and the surrounding area, then applying this knowledge to the excavation process. 5. Communication skills: Actively engaging in discussions with archaeologists and other team members, presenting findings, and asking relevant questions to enhance understanding. 6. Time management: Completing tasks within the designated time frame, prioritizing tasks, and effectively balancing various responsibilities during the two-day experience. 7. Problem-solving: Adapting to unforeseen challenges and collaborating with team members to find creative solutions during the excavation process. 8. Cultural awareness: Gaining an appreciation for historical significance and understanding the cultural context of the Knights Hospitaller preceptory and the broader region. 9. Technical skills: Learning and applying archaeological techniques and tools, such as trowels, brushes, and sieves, to properly excavate and handle artifacts. 10. Adaptability and resilience: Navigating the dynamic and sometimes unpredictable environment of an archaeological dig, adjusting to changing conditions, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the experience.
The Knights of Saint John the Baptist are extremely interesting. They may have been originally former out of Saint Ninian's visit to the Upper Clydesdale and then expanded from the sons of King Caddow of Strathclyde in the late 6th century. There own legions refer to Jullian / Julius the roman and Hosplitlar who was a real person. The chapel of Aaron and chapel of Julian were in Upper clydesdale in the 6th century this was later dedicated to Saint maelok. This was expanded and became cambusmaelok, abbreviated to camaelok and corrupted to camelot. Edward 1st refers to Cameluk. This monestry was referred to the auld place and was the original headquarters for the hospliters. At the funeral of Robert Bruce the old Knights wore the black robes of the hosplitlars because the wars of independence allowed them the freedom to wear them.
I was very lucky to visit the Krak de Chavalier , Aleppo Castle etc whilst on HMS Marlborough - it was the most awesome building I've ever seen, before or since. Sadly, I believe it has been badly damaged much like the rest of Syria and its people.

Awesome as always, the only tiny thing slightly off is the Hospitaller talking english when charging instead of latin, which is what templars and hospitallers always used.
I prefer these two lads to the actual presenters in the new TT, much more natural feel to it imho. not hating on the presenters, just stating my preference.
GUS is just toooo diplomatic and (where does this come from?) democratic? Really? We often go back 4000 years and more on this programme and someone in the 21st century is hoping for DEMOCRACY in the telling of this history. Give us back the Baldrick who jumps and runs and shouts and questions with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Much as I used to dislike Tony Robinson`s somewhat over-acted enthusiasm it was certainly infectious and raised my own enthusiasm for the programme. I`m not sure about the new presenters who appear to have a hidden agenda? Do they only work together? What has happened to the original presenters? We only seem to have Carenza left.
From the Latin _expertus_ , past participle (active and passive) of _experīrī_ to try. As long as you are still trying (experimenting) you are still an expert.
I'm not impressed with the style of Gus, but I do very much like Tony not being in the middle of everything, buzzing around irritating those trying to do some real science like a little bot fly. I miss Mick, and wish Phil was still involved, but the rest of the crew will, I think, with time, come together.
What I miss from the old videos is the historical narrative, explaining the lore about the site, its context, and what they expect to find (and either find or do not find). This seems a rather disconnected series of events, without a premise or conclusion: I hope that the new Time Team will find their footing soon, and be able to present a coherent story.

I understand they have credentials, and were hired to bring something to the table, but something about them irritates the heck out of me. Don''t start until I'm online!
i am loving it, cuppa ready and snacks. ;-)
So confused for a second there being in the southern hemisphere, spring 2023 would be a long way off. Great teaser.
I love how John and Stuart's relationship hasn't changed. It's still a competition between the 2 of them 🤣😂☺️
Loved the Mick Aston doll!
and the bus called the Mick mobile.
I want one😂
I was one of the reenactors here, this day was so much damn fun and it was a pleasure having these guys with us for it!
Would love to see Phil back in some capacity 😊

Absolutely brilliant, roll on next Spring...Thank you to all who support and work hard to bring these features to us.
I see that the team are working the knight shift
Haha very good David 😊

I've just been reading SJA Turney's Knights Templar novels, so I'm really in the mood for this dig! Can't wait!
What a huge amount of positivity 😊

The Mick doll brought tears to my eyes. You definitely need to make these ❤
Helen Geake hasn't changed a bit :)
Miss Mick on TT, but love the Mick doll.... excellent

It was nice of Fr. Guido Sarducci to stop by and lend his help.

I know and love Halston, through Mytton.
To be clear, my favorite moment was Carenza. That is all. Carenza.
from Mick Aston wiki: 'and that as a result the episodes now contained "a lot of faffing about."'

Hope we hear a bit about the Mytton family.
I assume your presence also supports the local community and local stalls?

Enjoyed the 'Going to the Pub' dance, but disappointed they still haven't given the Mickmobile an appropriate rainbow paint job.
Every time i hear the term 'Lumps and Bumps' i think of Stewart Ainsworth, does anybody else think this way?
Did someone at the end of this video say that we have to wait until spring next year before we will see the final episodes???? :O
When you say Spring, as hardy outdoors types I hope that will be February/March?
