My understanding is that no remastering is being done. This was the way they were broadcast, or at least the way they come out after being processed for online delivery. I remember the ones on the Channel 4 site being the same. I'm not sure but I think it also depends on the series, some are better than others.
@@mikeprater when a broadcast master is made it normally has four channels of audio 1 & 2 are mixed audio that’s dialogue, music and effects. Channels 3 & 4 are usually music & effects only (M&E) this is so it can be versioned. For online you would normally disable channels 3 & 4 for render, what I suspect has happened here is all four channels have been bounced down to two doubling up on music and effects which has then been levelled to protect the peaks resulting in loud music and effects and quiet dialogue.

I watch Time Team EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. So, I feel qualified to speak my opinion. Every single member of the cast and crew is important in creating this wonderful show. Having said that though, I must say I do get tired of Roman villas, mosaics, and kilns! Oh, yeah, and hypercourse tiles. 😂
I think that Stewart gets a bit slagged off too often, he often has really good insight that guides the team in the right direction, I wonder if it's because he is not an "Archeologist"? but is trained as a surveyor, or maybe he is an archeologist, but not the dig in a ditch kind? I love these shows.
Good grief, most likely the Anglo-Saxon palace they seek is directly under the footprint of the existing mansion which clearly sits in a place of prominence going back many centuries. I was surprised they didn’t seem to explore that likelihood. If that house has a basement could they not at least try to find something?
Trying to come up with a drinking game, so far I have: old men talking while young women work, closeup of Phil’s badger claws, and “it’s not Anglo-Saxon”
There is a time team drinking games someone came up with. Phil: "Stone the crows" "get out of my trench" Stuart: ducking behind a hedge/on a bike/coming up with a new theory blowing everything else out of the water Paul Blinkhorn: "very nice" "about this size" gesters with hands Geophys Rain Gazebos blowing into a hedge Ian the digger pointing something in the trench Francis: "ritual" "prehistoric" Council of war around the land rover I can't remember the rest of them but it's in the comment section of one of the other videos. It should keep you going for a bit
I always love the rivalry they get going between John, Stewart and Phil (and some of the other archeologists) and Mick sort of has to referee. I do kind of miss that about Time Team.
Tony’s head is about to explode with the contradiction in the experts!😂 The dude looking at all his lawn being torn up and smiles an nods… 😂 That’s good stuff!😁
Oh no, music is too loud again! :( I know you reuploaded a past video with this issue, would you consider doing so again? My hearing isn't great and it makes it really difficult to watch.
Love this show. Just my 2 cents though "sometimes the only thing you find when you dig a hole is the bottom of a hole" and for an archeologist that has go to be frustrating.
That drawing of the Palace reminded me of Thai timber architecture, especially existing temples. I wonder if that type of timber architecture was at some stage spread over northern hemisphere?

@@Tiger89Lilly Oh great, shall look forward to seeing any more digs that they do. Just hope that John & Stewart don't get so much ' stick ' ..lol and Helen has her humour and Carenza is as radiant as ever.. ! Thks
God i miss this show 😢
Are they remastering these? The audio is horrible show after show.
My understanding is that no remastering is being done. This was the way they were broadcast, or at least the way they come out after being processed for online delivery. I remember the ones on the Channel 4 site being the same. I'm not sure but I think it also depends on the series, some are better than others.
@@rickansell661 it's sounds like it's been exported as 5.1 rather than stereo.
There are other copies on TH-cam that don't have these issues...
@@DHealey yeah they were recorded rather being from the master
One of the best episodes ever! Wonderful!
Being stuck in an old English pub with Phil & Mick & few cold drinks.... Heaven! 🥴
An Tony, gotta have a friend at the table to joke on😂
@@PaulMahon-w2b
I like *Tony* & have heard some really nice things about him when he meets random fans when he's out & about, apparently he is an absolute delight but.... We would probably come to blows over our politics as he is a very vocal advocate of his creed....😕
Unfortunately, meeting *Mick* won't happen either as he apparently died a while back. 😕
I love these so much. I find myself getting lost in them and bingeing away. This one though had horrible audio editing. I could hardly tell was tony was saying under the music.
I’ve watched every episode probably 5 times each .. I can’t stop love these guys..and my name is Kent
The hill was clearly the neighborhood fairgrounds (town party spot) and a place where lovers will sneak off for some alone time at night. Definitely explains the lost brooches.
How did i not know time team was back? Its great to see this again, all these years later. This was an inspiration to me, as a little kid.
Mick always seems to me to be the voice of reason when it comes to making up his mind where the trenches go, he always mulls it over in his mind where they go before he does anything, and never seems to act on an impulse.
All those stamps are customs and excise confirmation that you are serving the correct measures love watching your channel would love to get back up the road one day
"It's like a Hammer horror!" I love Sir Tony!
The dramatic thunder and spooky story by candlelight is too much. I love this show 😆
To John Handley, what a great story and I am SOOO jealous. I would love to be in on a dig or clean finds or field walk. If we can ever get past Covid I would travel to England to volunteer on a site
Mosaics Mosaics Mosaics, 😢😢😢I understand 😂
I thought i had seen all the episodes but i dobt remember this one. Thx for uploading it
I think that Stewart gets a bit slagged off too often, he often has really good insight that guides the team in the right direction, I wonder if it's because he is not an "Archeologist"? but is trained as a surveyor, or maybe he is an archeologist, but not the dig in a ditch kind?
I love these shows.
Stewart: An intrepid Yorkshireman!
That's just normal British banter played up a bit for the cameras. Don't think too much into it.
Love 36:10 where we see Phil in the upper right hand corner of the screen, cracking up at everyone arguing at the table
Good grief, most likely the Anglo-Saxon palace they seek is directly under the footprint of the existing mansion which clearly sits in a place of prominence going back many centuries. I was surprised they didn’t seem to explore that likelihood. If that house has a basement could they not at least try to find something?
a wooden medieval windmill still preserved seems sort of impressive to me, but then just breezed right past that :/
@ newwavepop Did we miss something ?? I was waiting for that too. Squared oak trunks, iron bolts ?? Nothing.
Because they are not that rare, in fact a few still stand.
😲 WOW it's amazing what these people find I love this show
One of the best TV shows ever.
Great episode, could you re-upload and turn the music down though? It was hard to hear the narration over the music.
There were a few spots where I could not hear at all what Tony was saying because of the music.
@@amandachapman4708 Sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear what you just said because of the music
Trying to come up with a drinking game, so far I have: old men talking while young women work, closeup of Phil’s badger claws, and “it’s not Anglo-Saxon”
Don't forget ads
There is a time team drinking games someone came up with.
Phil: "Stone the crows" "get out of my trench"
Stuart: ducking behind a hedge/on a bike/coming up with a new theory blowing everything else out of the water
Paul Blinkhorn: "very nice" "about this size" gesters with hands
Geophys
Rain
Gazebos blowing into a hedge
Ian the digger pointing something in the trench
Francis: "ritual" "prehistoric"
Council of war around the land rover
I can't remember the rest of them but it's in the comment section of one of the other videos.
It should keep you going for a bit
I always love the rivalry they get going between John, Stewart and Phil (and some of the other archeologists) and Mick sort of has to referee. I do kind of miss that about Time Team.
The title of this episode should be 'Dig More Holes!!'
I was rolling when he mentioned taking the dudes house down at the end LOL
When ever I hear about discarded trinkets I always think of the giving during the pentecost maypole ceremony to get good luck for the coming season.
Tony’s head is about to explode with the contradiction in the experts!😂
The dude looking at all his lawn being torn up and smiles an nods… 😂
That’s good stuff!😁
Oh no, music is too loud again! :( I know you reuploaded a past video with this issue, would you consider doing so again? My hearing isn't great and it makes it really difficult to watch.
I wonder if the name Eastry could allude to "Oster Ey", "Eastern Island"? Was there an island in that region back in the 7th Century?
Always enjoy
Love this show. Just my 2 cents though "sometimes the only thing you find when you dig a hole is the bottom of a hole" and for an archeologist that has go to be frustrating.
Fascinating channel.
Why are there parts of this video when the BGM is stepping all over the narration making it hard to hear voice.
I don't know if there is a better team than Phil and Ian.
Always great to see more episodes, but think this would fit better as 'time team inconclusive' rather than a classic per se
That drawing of the Palace reminded me of Thai timber architecture, especially existing temples. I wonder if that type of timber architecture was at some stage spread over northern hemisphere?
@@UncommonSense-wm5fd I mean, I'm speculating whether prior to masonry whether similar architecture was much more wide -spread. Since similar examples exist in SE Asia.
The show was recorded before June of 2013. There is absolutely nothing you can do about re-adjusting the audio mix. You are stuck with the audio mix forever. They are not going back 8 years to re-mix a sound track....
I'm no expert, but surely that depends on the quality and type of the files they are now handling. It wasn't of a poor standard when originally broadcast.
Did you post your comment in relation to the clip's difficult-to-hear audio...?
There were quite a number of long stretches of the show where the music "accompaniment" thoroughly overpowers the discussions.
