Music helps me alot when I'm working out, at my job, when I'm in my room or when I have nothing to do. I could give it up for a day, but any longer I might get too depressed or feel too quiet.
I love how my life is set sometimes ,I live in two different countries .one of them I use Wi-Fi and use social media all the time and the other I just don’t have internet access so it feels like detox by default. You quickly get other things replacing all that and your mind gets back in line
That's actually part of a chain of things that makes your attention want to shift every minute. One of the reasons that stop listening to music is hard on the first days is due to dopamine. When we're not listening to music, there's our good old Instagram, Twitter, you name it, and our brain gets addicted to the kind of stimulus these things are programmed to give. It takes a while to get into flow state but when your attention is totally focused on the thing you're doing, when there's not even a white noise on the background, man that's powerful.
happens the same to me. As a musician, I could say that in my youth age I was so exposed to music that it basically shaped me on what I was... my behaviour, even my decisions... so when I started to self analyse, I realized that I wasn't drive my own life as I wanted to be... really deep though, but it was real as the sky above us... nowadays I sporadically listen music, and I feel that I enjoy it more than before.
This quote is fire i love this "Noise creates illusions; Silence brings truth" It brings a lot of self-awareness I'm glad you took up this challenge that is really good Happy for you bro
I used to be a huge music person, and a couple of months ago I quit it. I miss it sometimes, but nowadays i feel less reliant on it and i feel more in the moment. Occasionally, songs still get stuck in my head. Regardless of whether i enjoy them or not, they feel more taunting rather than comforting.
Came here from the video about Apple. Two or maybe three long years of hard work, and finally, you got your audience. You earned this like and subscription. Solid work, man. Keep it coming! You deserve a million or more!
Nice, very nice vidoes in gernaral. I like the way you use music in your vidoe it draws below your narration nicely and your story telling is very engaging, but music could also be a little, just a little less (loud and frequent). But now I am curious, what do you study? Wish you all the best for your endeavors, and your video essays. (sorry, English is not my first language).
I also listen to music almost excessively. All the time, even when I'm sleeping. But I do experience music fatigue every now and then when I can go up to about a day or two without actively listening to any music which makes the experience great again when I do rescind. It's an unintentional cycle for me.
Beautiful silence is something absolutely required by our minds every now and then. A week of quiet and silence has a centering effect, and should you try it out, you'll notice that your mind becomes more clear among other things... Cheers!
Bro, this is the 2nd video I’ve watched from your channel after that incredible analysis on Apple.. you’re video editing skills and ability to craft an engaging narrative are on point! 👌👌
This, like the rest of your videos, was a very entertaining watch! As a beginner video editor myself, I find myself wondering how you make these masterpieces. Like, from when you have the idea for a video, to when you put that video up on the internet for us to see, what's your process like? I'd appreciate it if you could let me learn from you! 🙏🏾
I love the songs playing in my head all the time. Battery life isn't an issue, I still maintain the ability to pause the music if required though. I guess that will be the point when I need a detox too. 😂
I consider music my first language. I tried a silent sprint at work today. I made dozens more mistakes than usual. I don't think there's any use to this experiment even animals are musical. It's part of human experience.
That Saitama illustration 😂 Okay, so, for me, while I did adopt music for my activities for the mere entertainment it brought, I later realised that it served as a functional anchor (and not a "parasitic" one as it might be in your case) for my activities, from study, to work, to everyday chores. I realised that the times when I had no music playing, my activities took longer and my thoughts always hopped from one random to-do, to a memory, to a thought experiment, to another random to-do (ADHD basically, but I seem to be on the milder side of the scale). On the flip side, music helped my body find rhythms to move to (with different genres working better for different activities), contrary to the "paralysis" that my noisy thoughts often gave it. The only times music got in the way were when I needed to voice something out (be it audibly, via texts, or in my head), so, for reading, I would usually stick to instrumentals while I read to assimilate, and pause when I need to revise and use my own thought experiments. So, I guess our perception of "noise" would be a key difference in the way we experience it. My mind is way more quiet when there's music playing, but once it goes off, my thoughts take over and they nevvvverrrr stop. It's not always a bad thing though, I enjoy hopping around my head 60% of the time, but sometimes it's just plain noise. There's also the thing you said about being more aware of your environment-that's another problem for me, I'm too aware 😣. I seem to have better hearing than others; sounds several blocks away could easily get my attention; I can't be comfy at concerts or weddings without having earbuds in to muffle the sound (but thankfully it's not "painful" nor overwhelming as it would be for someone with severe autistic overstimulation problems). Amidst all this though, I'd say I can do without music for 4 days maybe (I'm likely overestimating my ability😅), if I'm left in a relatively peaceful space with no deadlines to meet up with (but, I'll still inevitably have music creep in and play in my mind from time to time). After that, I'll likely need to find some sort of rhythm (could be something as simple as pen drumming) to feel refreshed.
Hey :) Thanks for sharing. That was a really lovely read. I guess all our experiences with music are different. I'm glad that music can serve as your anchor to calm your thoughts. At the end of the day, I'm grateful for music and all that it can do for us.
Without music I’d get aggressive 😭😭 I can stop for hours and a day but more? Bruhhh my imagination will stop- I will start singing if anything you know? Although I often put songs in loop for hours while doing something to not change the mood of my art xD

The thing that I don't like about music is that certain frequency can change your mood

You deserve a million or more!
Yeah. I just realized it becomes distraction at times. Podcast is the go-to. But for sleeping, I prefer somehow instrumental..
Oh haven’t listened to music in weeks. That explains why I’ve been in a creative block for a while
Great video Dami, your apple video is amazing also!

Music is a language of emotions.
yess music also helps me focus on studying cause I get really distracted
For being this cinematic you need a higher quality camera. This video looks sick man
In German there's a saying that goes like "the dosis makes the poison", this kind of reminded me of it
I loved this bro! Keep it up ❤
This was beautifully filmed

The satire that he is using background music to tell us the fact that we should quit music addiction. PS - I'm high.
