OMG, this video brought back so many memories! I loved Stila's lip glazes, especially the grapefruit, which smelled amazing! And I loved those lip colors in the foil tubes. I also remember my first trip to a Sephora and seeing all the brands I had read about in the fashion mags. It was the most amazing feeling, and I was like a kid in a candy shop! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I felt the same way the first time I went to Sephora! And I had maybe $25 in my pocket so I could only buy that one lip gloss. It was so overwhelming seeing all of those brands and wanting it all but I could only get one thing.
This video is making me cry! Stila is the first brand I bought at Sephora. I bought her large eyeshadow pan and filled it with colors like Wheat, Kitten, and my fav, Holly Golightly. I loved all the colors and was so bummed when their iconic shadows seemed to disappear from stores. Will need to try some of the other products. Thanks for the deep dive!

I remember wanting the Stila lip and cheek in Gladiola. I touched it every single time on my many visits to Sephora. It was such a unique color at the time, a bright orange. It looked amazing on my Asian cheeks. I could never afford it. They don’t have it now that I can afford it. Ah, I wish I had it. 🧡
Thanks for this video, Jen❣️ I am from Sweden and didn't know the brand Stila was founded by a Swedish woman. 😊 For years I have used Stila One Step Correct - the three colour swirl with pump, together with their One Step correct brightening powder, with 4 colours. Perfect to even the skin tone on no-make-up make-up day. Later I bought the Convertible Lip & Cheek in Lillium and Peony after watching one of your videos. Last thing I bought was their eyeliner pens in various colours - soo creamy to apply, enough time to smudge and sits all day. ☺️
Okay, this was so entertaining. I knew nothing about Stila’s history and have never bought a product. It makes me sad that she sold to Estée Lauder. I loved her vibe and packaging, especially the recyclable ones. She was innovative and fresh. Wish it was still all the same. Neen looks nice, but a little more plain. Good job, Jen!! 🎉

Ive used Stila felt tip eyeliner since it came out. Brown, green and blue, yep Stay all Day. There was a liquid water blush, i wish they'd still make it.
omg thank you so much for this video. I've actually been thinking abt Stila a lot lately, and wondering why, with the "popular again" attention on cream products, their convertible color is not more talked about. It's as incredible a formula as it always was, no different than say Tower 28 cream blushes (just maybe with the ability to last longer than a few months before going off!). The convertible color in Peony was MY first ever product purchased at Sephora!! And I have such love for it specifically but for the brand in general too. I really want they to have a resurgence, I don't see any reason why the couldn't esp with brands like NARS and MUF still being popular, which I also remember from my early days at Sephora in the early 2000s. Im sorry to hear it has been sold so many times, maybe that can account for some of the changes and sort of muddled identity. I was too a HUUGGE fan of their smudge pot and sticks, and would love for them to come back in more colors too. Thanks for this lovely memory Jen! So funny that both our first products were the convertible colors lol (Im just a Peony girl). ETA: I think I still actually have my first ever compact of Peony! I just found it and looks busted up but has still lasted me all this time! Wowee. But I wonder if they changed the formula, bc the color swatched (and what I remember it as) more resembles Petunia in your swatch pic.

Omg Hard Candy, they were my favorite. They sold like Urban Decay did,Then it became a Walmart cheap brand.The OG creator opened a new brand called Smith+Cult that was similar with nail polish and makeup but it never fully took off.They are no more. I miss those cute polish bottles both the little ring on them so much.

I can’t blame them because the brand has changed so much but it’s interesting to me that they have no idea that their fun color polishes set a huge trend in the 90s and the brand was iconic in the beauty industry for a while. They don’t realize that blue and silver nail polish just wasn’t a trendy thing until Hard Candy came and changed the game!
Hi, Jen! I'm very fond of Stila. I mostly use the liquid lipstick, and crayon eyeliner. It's so funny you mentioned patina. That is my favorite liquid lipstick. I have it in regular Patina, and Patina Shimmer. I also like Beso. It's a nice red. These are the only matte lipsticks I wear that don't dry my lips out. I'd definitely like to try their cream blush and their eyeshadow, too. Thanks for mentioning a great brand!
This just inspired me to purchase a few stila products…not that I need any new makeup…but I haven’t ever tried them and really would like to have a new nude blush and eyeshadow that doesn’t get glitter all over my face. Thanks for doing all the research and sharing your faves!💚

I love Stila! They have a fabulous volumizing mascara in a gold tube that I’ve repurchased many times as well as the cream blushes you showed. I like the glitter/glimmer & glow shadows but I haven’t bought any in years due to their short shelf life and drying up so quickly. They have some fun new eye liners they released in the past few years that I enjoy too. I wish they received more hype on YT because they’re still a great brand. Thanks for this Jen ❤

This was fun to hear about the history of Stila. I haven't tried any of these products but I do like the packaging with some of the products. I was a fan of Kiss My Face, Burt's Bees, and recently The Body Shop until it was acquired by another corporation. Sometimes, the quality and formulations change as a result. Thanks for sharing Jen 😊

Oh I used to love Stila blush in “Fade” and their powder eyeshadow in “Eden”, the grapefruit lip glaze and others 😍. Still love and use the eyeliner and convertible colours in “Peony” and “Lilium”.
The only product I own from them is a cream correcting palette that also comes with two powders. I've emptied one product and am planning another and have this plan to ultimately keep it to refill. Otherwise I have to say I don't find anything attractive about the brand. Happy to see this series make a comeback!

Great video. Thank you so much for all your research and hard work. You really are for helping us make the most educated decisions. You also really opened my eyes to this brand that I never really thought to much about before; I think that’s because the market is so saturated with company’s and their next best thing that the consumer doesn’t have the time or the money to dig deep into each brand and find those great staples that work so well for them. I know myself I am sometimes overwhelmed with decisions on what’s best for my skin, and also what lasts. I don’t want a color no matter what is for ie., Foundation, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, contour etc., that doesn’t last all day, if it doesn’t last it’s a no go. You always seem to help us so much and I really cannot thank you enough. I hope you know that your channel is so informative and truthful and that’s what a girl needs. Keep up the great work.💖
What a great video. I'm all emotional now because Stila was my live or die brand in the 90's. I still have several eyeshadows from that time. I wish the brand had not been sold, because it changed, and my favorite items left. I will definitely be checking out her new brand! 😊
OMG. Those tiny little lip glosses in the aluminum! I loved them. AND they had a cream “highlighter” (maybe they called it shimmer?) also in a metal tube (larger) that I loved!

This really was so nostalgic for me to watch 🥲 The first time I ever went to Sephora was before my junior prom in 2010, and the first product I ever got was a Stila eyeshadow to match my dress. So many throwbacks in here! I wish I got to try some of their OGs. I walked by Stila at Ulta the other day and I spent a while swatching and impressed. Then came across this video. Need to give them more chances! I thought their Kitten highlighter was gorgeous
This was fantastic! I have kitten in the plumping gloss and it’s minty and the color is so flattering on my lips. I’ve used up all the liquid shadows of hers I’ve had but it makes me want them again

Jen, I'd love to see some of the mall brands like Clarins. I've seen these products for decades and I noticed the Clarins brand is French and less expensive than say a Gucci or Chanel.

I've been using the black smudge pot as an eyeliner for 20 years and nothing beats it. I just wish they had brown since I recently started using less black as I get older. I miss all the other products I used to use. Definitely feeling the nostalgia!
I loved the old Stila as well. I still own some lip glazes. Prob shouldn’t but I do. And I remember the talking palettes she had. And I had a few of those and the convertible color compacts and the smudge pot. I had a black with pink sparkle. Was great stuff. And some really good lipstick colors. I do use the color and correct palette and it’s great for me because I have dark under eye circles. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Max Factor is still sold in Europe! For some reason they haven't been popular here in the US. I did a video on them a few months ago...I ordered some products from Look Fantastic.

I was recently gifted the Treasure Island Bronzer, Blush & Highlight putty trio. It's really beautiful, it's the dry cream to powder feel you mentioned. My makeup always looks flawless when I use it ❤

I found this interesting. I've never had much luck with Stila products -- but haven't bought that many. I had a liquid eyeliner that was pretty much dried out and the shimmery liquid metallic eyeshadows were icky on my. I had one eyeshadow duo that was nice and I still use it occasionally.
I agree .. Stila has kinda fallen off the radar for me, but I do have one fabulous Stila product which is the Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow in Sea Siren (discontinued, I believe), it's a beautiful iridescent purple ~ really pretty on the eyes.
2001 I got a Stila lipgloss in aluminum tube at Sephora on Paris on a trip in high school. Also my first Sephora visit before they got to the suburbs. I remember being so excited, it was even a big part of being in Paris for me and made the trip.
When my daughter hit makeup age , I discovered Stila at ulta , for me it was great colors and soft looking . I’d buy it again, like the color mix foundation. Thx❤❤
Man I used to love Stila! I still have kitten in my collection. It was my favorite and first cream anything. I can’t bear to part with it. I also have that lip pen.
Oh man, I loved Stila back in the day. I was a big fan of the lip glosses in the metal tubes, the lipsticks in the cardboard tubes, and the powder blushes in the cardboard pots, all discontinued. Ah, memories. And I still love the Convertible Colors. I just wish they'd come out with more colors or at least bring back Fuchsia, which was a glorious hot pink and my fave (I still have one that expired 15+ years ago--I don't use it, but I'll never throw it away).
Stila had a tinted slightly shimmery moisturizer with SPF I used to love in the early 2000's. I don't recall the name of it. I probably would think it's too glowy now, but at the time it was my "go to" for an easy "my skin but better" complexion product. I'm still trying to find something else similar to replace it.
Hi Jen, thanks for your video. I just stumbled upon Stila products yesterday at Shoppers Drug Mart. I was looking for a very compact travel makeup set. I haven’t even used it - I purchased Sculpt and Glow. My idea is to us it when travelling for my makeup and even my purse. I know nothing about this product other than trying at the store and what the sales person told me. If you could do a review on this product and show how you could use it as a one and done type video. That would be right up my ally. Or if you have another suggestion as to an all in one makeup choice. I’ve heard of Stacked but it’s very expensive and the few reviews I’ve seen don’t give me the confidence that it will work for me.
Thanks for the video, Jen! I still miss their matte eye shadow singles. They had one named Dune (I think) that was the perfect base color for me. And it applied so smoothly and wore so well!!! I'm pretty sure that was the first eye shadow I bought at a department store price point - $16 I think, maybe 20 years ago. And in the cardboard packaging! Ah, sold to Estee Lauder and then to private equity! Private equity is the death knell for any company they buy.
The Magnum XXX Volumizing Mascara has mixed reviews, but I absolutely love it, and I have sensitive eyes as I get older. People have a point when saying the brush is a bit big, but it also does the best job at adding volume, plus if I get a little bit on my lid it's never been an issue for me to just let it dry and then scrap off with a spoolie. I generally do my eyebrows last, and even if I do them right after mascara, by the time I'm done with them the mascara is dry.

This just inspired me to purchase a few stila products…not that I need any new makeup…but I haven’t ever tried them and really would like to have a new nude blush and eyeshadow that doesn’t get glitter all over my face. Thanks for doing all the research and sharing your faves!💚

I love Stila! They have a fabulous volumizing mascara in a gold tube that I’ve repurchased many times as well as the cream blushes you showed. I like the glitter/glimmer & glow shadows but I haven’t bought any in years due to their short shelf life and drying up so quickly. They have some fun new eye liners they released in the past few years that I enjoy too. I wish they received more hype on YT because they’re still a great brand. Thanks for this Jen ❤
Brings back memories, I use to use the liquid shadows and the eyeliner, I still use the cream blush! I think I am going to revisit, thanks for a great video, I am really interested in getting that single eyeshadow and the liquid eyeliner again.

Ohhh I just bought a Stila “best of” kit with their convertible lip color, eyeliner, and their mascara in the gold tube - that mascara I LOVE!!
This was fun to hear about the history of Stila. I haven't tried any of these products but I do like the packaging with some of the products. I was a fan of Kiss My Face, Burt's Bees, and recently The Body Shop until it was acquired by another corporation. Sometimes, the quality and formulations change as a result. Thanks for sharing Jen 😊

Oh I used to love Stila blush in “Fade” and their powder eyeshadow in “Eden”, the grapefruit lip glaze and others 😍. Still love and use the eyeliner and convertible colours in “Peony” and “Lilium”.
The only product I own from them is a cream correcting palette that also comes with two powders. I've emptied one product and am planning another and have this plan to ultimately keep it to refill. Otherwise I have to say I don't find anything attractive about the brand. Happy to see this series make a comeback!

You also really opened my eyes to this brand that I never really thought to much about before; I think that’s because the market is so saturated with company’s and their next best thing that the consumer doesn’t have the time or the money to dig deep into each brand and find those great staples that work so well for them. I know myself I am sometimes overwhelmed with decisions on what’s best for my skin, and also what lasts. I don’t want a color no matter what is for ie., Foundation, blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, contour etc., that doesn’t last all day, if it doesn’t last it’s a no go. You always seem to help us so much and I really cannot thank you enough. I hope you know that your channel is so informative and truthful and that’s what a girl needs. Keep up the great work.💖

What a great video. I'm all emotional now because Stila was my live or die brand in the 90's. I still have several eyeshadows from that time. I wish the brand had not been sold, because it changed, and my favorite items left. I will definitely be checking out her new brand! 😊
OMG. Those tiny little lip glosses in the aluminum! I loved them. AND they had a cream “highlighter” (maybe they called it shimmer?) also in a metal tube (larger) that I loved!
The Stila convertible blushes were my first high end makeup purchase! I love their liquid liner too with the micro tip!
Great video! I forgot all about Kitten eye shadow. I had quite a collection of Stila products in the 90's...definitely had the glosses in the little tubes. Wow...certainly brings back memories. How about a Smashbox video? I know I had a huge collection of their lipsticks in the 90's.

This really was so nostalgic for me to watch 🥲 The first time I ever went to Sephora was before my junior prom in 2010, and the first product I ever got was a Stila eyeshadow to match my dress. So many throwbacks in here!
I wish I got to try some of their OGs. I walked by Stila at Ulta the other day and I spent a while swatching and impressed. Then came across this video. Need to give them more chances! I thought their Kitten highlighter was gorgeous
This was fantastic! I have kitten in the plumping gloss and it’s minty and the color is so flattering on my lips. I’ve used up all the liquid shadows of hers I’ve had but it makes me want them again
Thanks for this, Stila has memories for me too. I adore the Kitten shade, wore Petunia Convertible Color on my wedding day and have just bought one of the new Blush & Bronze sticks.
Also the liquid eyeshadows and Smudge Stick pencil eyeliners are excellent.
Jen, I'd love to see some of the mall brands like Clarins. I've seen these products for decades and I noticed the Clarins brand is French and less expensive than say a Gucci or Chanel.

I've been using the black smudge pot as an eyeliner for 20 years and nothing beats it. I just wish they had brown since I recently started using less black as I get older. I miss all the other products I used to use. Definitely feeling the nostalgia!
I loved the old Stila as well. I still own some lip glazes. Prob shouldn’t but I do. And I remember the talking palettes she had. And I had a few of those and the convertible color compacts and the smudge pot. I had a black with pink sparkle. Was great stuff. And some really good lipstick colors. I do use the color and correct palette and it’s great for me because I have dark under eye circles. Thanks for sharing. ❤

Yes I still have it and use them.
Max Factor is still sold in Europe! For some reason they haven't been popular here in the US. I did a video on them a few months ago...I ordered some products from Look Fantastic.

I was recently gifted the Treasure Island Bronzer, Blush & Highlight putty trio. It's really beautiful, it's the dry cream to powder feel you mentioned. My makeup always looks flawless when I use it ❤

Hi Jen…I haven’t tried any Stila products, but I thoroughly enjoyed this informative video! When my current cream blush runs out, I plan on picking up the cream blush in Lilium or Petunia. Such pretty colors. 🥰

I found this interesting. I've never had much luck with Stila products -- but haven't bought that many. I had a liquid eyeliner that was pretty much dried out and the shimmery liquid metallic eyeshadows were icky on my. I had one eyeshadow duo that was nice and I still use it occasionally.
I agree .. Stila has kinda fallen off the radar for me, but I do have one fabulous Stila product which is the Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow in Sea Siren (discontinued, I believe), it's a beautiful iridescent purple ~ really pretty on the eyes.
2001 I got a Stila lipgloss in aluminum tube at Sephora on Paris on a trip in high school. Also my first Sephora visit before they got to the suburbs. I remember being so excited, it was even a big part of being in Paris for me and made the trip.
When my daughter hit makeup age , I discovered Stila at ulta , for me it was great colors and soft looking . I’d buy it again, like the color mix foundation. Thx❤❤

Man I used to love Stila! I still have kitten in my collection. It was my favorite and first cream anything. I can’t bear to part with it. I also have that lip pen.
Oh man, I loved Stila back in the day. I was a big fan of the lip glosses in the metal tubes, the lipsticks in the cardboard tubes, and the powder blushes in the cardboard pots, all discontinued. Ah, memories. And I still love the Convertible Colors. I just wish they'd come out with more colors or at least bring back Fuchsia, which was a glorious hot pink and my fave (I still have one that expired 15+ years ago--I don't use it, but I'll never throw it away).

Stila had a tinted slightly shimmery moisturizer with SPF I used to love in the early 2000's. I don't recall the name of it. I probably would think it's too glowy now, but at the time it was my "go to" for an easy "my skin but better" complexion product. I'm still trying to find something else similar to replace it.

Hi Jen, thanks for your video. I just stumbled upon Stila products yesterday at Shoppers Drug Mart. I was looking for a very compact travel makeup set. I haven’t even used it - I purchased Sculpt and Glow. My idea is to us it when travelling for my makeup and even my purse. I know nothing about this product other than trying at the store and what the sales person told me. If you could do a review on this product and show how you could use it as a one and done type video. That would be right up my ally. Or if you have another suggestion as to an all in one makeup choice. I’ve heard of Stacked but it’s very expensive and the few reviews I’ve seen don’t give me the confidence that it will work for me.
Thanks for the video, Jen! I still miss their matte eye shadow singles. They had one named Dune (I think) that was the perfect base color for me. And it applied so smoothly and wore so well!!! I'm pretty sure that was the first eye shadow I bought at a department store price point - $16 I think, maybe 20 years ago. And in the cardboard packaging!
Ah, sold to Estee Lauder and then to private equity! Private equity is the death knell for any company they buy.
It does seem that way...I hope they get picked up by another cosmetics company that really takes them back to their roots!
Stila was the first high end makeup brand I purchased and I was hooked!
The Magnum XXX Volumizing Mascara has mixed reviews, but I absolutely love it, and I have sensitive eyes as I get older. People have a point when saying the brush is a bit big, but it also does the best job at adding volume, plus if I get a little bit on my lid it's never been an issue for me to just let it dry and then scrap off with a spoolie. I generally do my eyebrows last, and even if I do them right after mascara, by the time I'm done with them the mascara is dry.
