This is an incredible cover - your voices blend so well! Immediate and emphatic Like. When I was a kid, I assumed this song was just a show of self-righteous hatred, but as I got older I realized it's really about how fear breeds hatred and vice-versa. Because of Scar's betrayal, Simba and his subjects have every reason to be wary, but their fear is nearly their undoing. It's not fair to Kovu, but Simba's position is understandable - his father Mufasa allowed Scar to live as one of them and look how that turned out. And Simba's instincts weren't entirely wrong, since Kovu WAS originally intending to kill him. The irony is that both Simba and Kovu have to learn to reject the poison of Scar's legacy: hatred and fear, and the way each breeds the other.
This is where I'm inclined to remind both the writer of this comment and any future readers that this layered social commentary came from the same studio that made Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 and Belle's Magical World
