Matt lives in the same town as me and I once bumped into him in a local supermarket… he was such a cool dude taking time out to stand and geek out with me about all things synths… such a down to earth genuine chap and a proper player … top man
Whoa this is the first Superbooth video I've seen from someone I actually already watch on YT. I don't think I appreciated the sheer size of the Montage until I saw this.
Yes as much as I like this, it would be a real bugger to cart around to gigs, I will pray that they bring out the 61-Key version with the poly aftertouch.
Fantastic demo Matt, I’ve just chopped my Wave 2 in for an M6 and I am absolutely smitten with it. If I’d been in the audience I would have been whooping & hollering 😂
Great demo, Matt! I’m already blown away by my M8x, the new upcoming OS 2.0 is going to be insane. The AN-X patch near the beginning right before the Felt Piano was next level out there.
Due to some negative feedback of this keyboard I am altering the comment I made to. Matt Johnson played this keyboard, and everyone is different there is no such thing as better or good, in either keyboards or life forms. Original: "Matt Johnson is better than this keyboard."
@@davgal93💬🤔Maybe that keyboard from the movie big.. more likely none though, at best an equality could be achieved through working to produce a keyboard in collaboration with the makers.
Matt mentions the DX7 electric piano sound and how it was overheard. The historic pitfall of the DX7 is how patching on it was discouraged (save one product made in Germany called the DX Programmer that never made it out). Wouldn’t it be great to know for sure that Yamaha fully nipped that setback in the bud with Montage.
Sorry to say but what is shown here does not show real potential of this instrument. Yamaha should re-think how they promote their synths that are quite expensive.
@@RayyMusik Matt's performance was impressive as always since he's a great keyboardist. However, my point was that there are many similar videos showing the Montage being played like a stage piano. I was hoping to see more full arrangement performances that showcase the full potential of this synth. This video, while great, felt like another missed opportunity to highlight how this synth sounds in more complex performance scenarios. That's just my humble opinion; I respect that you may disagree.
All you analog modular heads playing 16 notes sequences for 12 hours never to replicate the patch or ever use it in anger might as well just throw your head in the bin and take up fishing after hearing a true player do this with a workstation…
What I should have said was. This keyboard has a neat key pressure effect. It would be nice to see a more vintage presentation of the machine casing, in my opinion. Matt plays the piano well, and is nice.
@@OneTrueSonOfGod Do you mean the patches he played or the physical design of the M8x? I own an M8x and can spend hours using the PolyAftertouch to play CS80 like patches.
@@trstack I have an affinity towards the style of the 60s in the design look. I think the sound is good yet I will always prefer acoustic sounds to synthetics.
@@OneTrueSonOfGod Sort of an odd comment considering this is a synthesizer. I also love great acoustic sounds which this has incredible ability to produce. However, the one complaint I had with the demos from Yamaha when it first came out was that most were showing off the playing talent of the person doing the demo using just generic piano and electric piano sounds. I bought my M8x on the first day it was introduced and was always wanting the demos to show the real power of this beast. Since then there have been better demos like this one where the talent of the musician is great, but the power of the synth takes precedence.
This workstation sounds like a typical modern plasticky digital trash. My collection of expensive vintage synths will eat this crap for breakfast anytime🍰☕

Hearing/seeing Matt play brings me joy and makes me happy
Matt Johnson is amazing. Beautiful Workstation as well. Such a great combo. Thanks for sharing!
The sounds and the depth of those sounds show me what a dedicated instrument maker the Yamaha company is. Thank you for the dedication.
Shameful that we're living in a time where a really skilled player is literally not applauded.
perfect gentleman to demonstrate this.
Love love love my Montage M!!
As usual, Matt does a magnificent job of demonstrating the keyboard.

Whoooa...a little Lyle Mays Street Dreams after 10.00. Beautiful!

Very cool demo
Brilliant! Great demo!
Fantastic as ever Matt👍
Awesome Performer with Great Sounds 😊
Great job Matt! I wish I was in the audience!
What a synth.
Great demo👏👏 can you show me how to create piano sounds with your wonderful pad sounds. I'm also using this M8X. Thanks you ❤❤
Any news on the upcoming MODX+ replacement ?
All good with demos of the amazing Montage but when will it be widely available to buy in Europe? Out of stock! And never really been in stock.
All I can say I “WOW!”😳🤔🎶❤️👍🏾
What a machine and what a player honestly
How did i miss this!!!!! God damn it I was there. Next year.
Sounds great. What an amazing tool for the live performer. Seems like you could replace a couple earlier gen keyboards with just one of these.
👌👍 from Kerala God's own country .
Sounds Great🎶🎶
Hallo Matt, you're a great demo player, really!! What's your opinion about Fantom X?
Love ya Matt! ❤️
Tough Crowd !!
Total badass
Tough to get german synth geeks to engage… Having owned a bunch of incredible hardware and software synths over 45 years, I love my Montage M8x
I wish I could watch him play a Nord Stage 4 so I could make a decision lol!
Ooooh the Shade he threw!!!! Anyone picked up on it? 😅
Expressiveness. Try expression 😄. Great playing lad . A really nice demo
He said 'Supernob' ! 😄
and his supernob is flashing!...

Why is it sooooooo big!?
Size matters!🤣
Bummer that the audience is so reserved, but I suppose a convention such as this is almost like a bunch of magicians trying to outdo each other.

Matt was doing an excellent job like always. You don‘t expect anyone to demo *all* features of this monster keyboard in just 20 minutes, do you?

The problem with M Series is that, you cant play it in the same way on M6 & M7 as M8x, it lacks Poly Aftertouch. FU Yamaha. What a stupid decision.

Tone on the Montage is just not great anymore. Their stage pianos have analog output boards for a much more natural tone.

The M8X is $8000 where i live. No thanks. Bye.
The question is where do you live ?
