My top 3 favorite pianos in this keyboard are definitely the Hamburg Grand, Imperial Grand and the Felt piano, very authentic and playfull samples, you play very well!!!
Thank you for answering so quickly, the version I have is the last one, Montage Mx 8 I already updated it but I still feel a little latency. I also have a motifxs8 and I don't have any latency problems.
Hi Juan! Out of interest, what latency issues were / do you have with the M8x??, as I'm interested in purchasing this so reads as a possible worry...(!). Thanks!
Very nice. I've always appreciated your jazz influence, it seems to present itself in a number of your pieces; even the non jazz compositions. You have great chops! I hope you and family have a wonderful year.
Good demonstration congratulations, I just bought the Montage M8 but I feel that it is very heavy to touch and I feel that it has a little latency, do you had the same feel?
Hi. Is that the previous generation? I like the keybed on this one and have not noticed latency. I had an original MIODX that I felt some sluggishness with on some patches but that got fixed with the updated version. Thanks for the kind words.
I enjoyed listening to you play. I'm considering the Montage M8X. Would you please tell me what desk you have it set on? I've looked at Argosy Halo but the M8X is just too deep to fit on it. Thanks for your time.
Hi Thanks for watching. I am using a large Uplift desk with a tabletop keyboard stand for the Montage. I have had a few desks with pull out keyboard drawers and they were never sturdy enough, The entire desk would rock if I was really laying into it while playing. It's not an issue to move the keyboard in or out on the stand if I want to be closer to the desk.
Hi Pete, I keep coming here to your great demo of the piano sounds on the M8X. I have the CP88 and considering upgrading. What are your honest thoughts, comparatively to the CP or YC, on the action? Obviously, the board itself is a lot heavier for gigging than my current board, but the pianos seem to sound a lot more impressive than the CP. hmm… Thank you for any insights.
Hi. It’s 2x the weight. It is a full featured keyboard with many more sounds but not as convenient as the cp or yc88. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to to the action on the m8x but now I enjoy it. While the audio interface is more full featured, the cp/yc has 2 stereo outs so you do not need a direct box to feed a pa. I don’t think the pianos sound much different between the 2 tbh. Thanks for watching and the kind words.
Hi. Thanks for the question. I can’t compare the two as I did not have the original. This is a very nice keybed I enjoy playing but that is me. Best to try and find one to play to see how you get on with it.
Thanks for the comment. The Montage has more sample ram and these pianos have more velocity layers than the CP or YC. I own different versions of all 3 instruments and for live playing, the YC and CP pianos sound very good thru a good amplification system. The Montage does sound better.
Thanks for watching. Rather than me trying to type out instructions, maybe this tutorial will help. th-cam.com/video/DhTORvTL8As/w-d-xo.htmlsi=usscmgxN3bY2PEi1
This is nice, but still what amazes me is how VST's still blow these things away. In part it is because the piano VST puts all the dedication and engineering into one sound area. My UAD Ravel grand is many steps better than this, but the Yamaha is better than my Roland. No matter what these digital beast synths pianos always carry the tinge of digital resonance whether it s playing the Hamburg or CFX, a Roland Grand on the RD2000, or the Kawai. A VST is closest to the purity of playing a real piano.
I agree about the sound but these stage pianos cut thru a mix well in a live situation and I also feel that with any VST, the playing always has some noticeable latency even at 64 samples buffer. For some styles it's not a big deal but when playing rhythmic music it's always there.
I have to chuckle at the criticisms that people have to always torpedo these beautiful clips floating around on YT of this stand out product. First, without explaining exactly why a certain VSTi is better it doesn’t hold much weight with someone who has actually played or like me, owns a M8x. Anyone seriously making a critical audio judgement from a heavily molested TH-cam audio clip is being either disingenuous or inexperienced. Finally, I have found most all criticism are based upon whatever is the latest technology in which the individual just invested a load of money. This will always “blow away” whatever they’re comparing. The sonic capabilities of the Montage M has only just had the surface scratched. As great as the Factory presets are I have already come across either reconstructed or deconstructed Performances by those who now have the time and know how to tweak properly and sound and perform much better. There are too many leftover remanence of the old Montage in the new. This is not a good thing because while the new is capable of loading and playing older tech back to the Motif and even DX7 with some caveats (which is great and smart) the Montage M is truly a new machine when properly programmed. The level of layering and ability to connect parameters to expression controls is phenomenal.
I've been playing professionally for over 40 years, scored movies and have been musicals director for Broadway plays. I'm not a hob knobbing passerby who just likes to trash things. If it weren't for the price, the M8 would be might next synth. Instead, for the same price I am getting the MODX8+ and the Novation Summit. The MODX8+ gives me Montage sounds and a beautiful synth interface and the Novation Summit a second synth for extraordinary sonic exploration. Together about $4,500. I already have a good controller with action I like for professional jazz/classical piano. Joe @@AudioAtmos
@@odmusicman See here we go. When confronted on the questionable logic of the technical side the conversation switches to cost without once again considering all the factors involved. Sure if you already have different avenues that can get you to where you want to go then great, but all that stuff cost money. I didn’t even get into the GEX key bed. It’s pretty sweet. I guess I just don’t understand why those with negative comments don’t go to the sites of the products or tech being shown that they think is superior and comment there about how lousy the Montage M is? It’s just weird to me to come to a site where it’s obvious the person has a positive view and throw a wet blanket on it. If yours was the only example I would pass it off as unimportant, but it’s all over the place. If in fact the reason is because these people feel the need to give a PSA as warning to potential buyers those sites would be the place to do it. I guess it’s the old “if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say anything all”. Or at least do it in the appropriate place. Anyway, I don’t desire to slop up this nice man’s video and TH-cam channel with bickering so that’s all from me. One last thing. Your credentials I’m sure are worthy of admiration, but I have found at my age it doesn’t mean much most of the time. I mean the music industry is a pathetic joke and probably will remain that way for the foreseeable future. I know I will be pushing up daisies before anything significant changes the trajectory.
Best to wear headphones to listen!

Wonderful sounding piano, and beautiful playing!
Hamburg is so amazing sound. Love it. ❤

Who cares about the sound of pianos, your playing is so beautiful! Well, the sound is, too! I own an original Montage
thank you for sharing😄

Thanks for showing this! Is the Imperial piano the same as the free Bosendorfer 290 version? (Bosendorfer is also part of the Yamaha compagny)
Not sure about that. Yamaha does have a similar selection of piano sounds in all its stage pianos tho...Thanks for watching.
felt!
Yes the Felted Piano is nice. Thanks for watching Pedro!
How is the keybed compared to the old montage? I’ve heard that the GEX keyboard is something else.
Hi. Thanks for the question. I can’t compare the two as I did not have the original. This is a very nice keybed I enjoy playing but that is me. Best to try and find one to play to see how you get on with it.
How do these piano sounds compare with the Stage models YC 88 or CP 88

Such a wonderful hair near a SuperKnob )))
hahaha!
Hi sir, Nise ...
Sir I like very Piano ..
Only For Piano... I am interested for Natural piano sounds
What is Better, NORD PIANOS or MONTAGE M Pianos ?
Hi. Thanks for the comment. I have not played a recent Nord so I can't comment on the quality of the sound.
Can you turn off the lights and displays?
Do not know the answer to that one! Thanks!
Somewhere i settings system led button & knob lights glow can be adjusted. Is LCD display brightness ajustable?
A great tutorial! how are you getting into the FX menu? when I go into Imperial it is not showing these options... thank you!
