So very true I had 10 guys working for me that were born in Mexico when Julio Cesar Chavez fought they would talk about the fight all week long and then come Monday morning they would still be on a cloud of air they always got together and watch the fight it gave them such pride it was truly beautiful then we would all bond talking about the fight for a few days after, the only time my guys would turn down overtime was when Chavez was fighting or world cup soccer when Mexico was playing. . A true legend and a huge source of pride for the Mexican people Chavez is 100% class.

It does not change one bit my evaluation of Duran as the best boxer among those who started their career im the lightweight division. Chavez is an extremely close one and though he started one division lower he was in my view more gifted when he went lightweight. Unluckily their careers didn't cross each other's but sometimes I try to figure how it would have looked like but it's just too impredictable. This Mexican boxer needs to be recognized for what he achieved.
Ricardo López was the third champion in history to retire undefeated and the first to do so as both an amateur and professional fighter. He also shares with Joe Louis and Floyd Mayweather Jr. the record for most consecutive title bouts without a loss (twenty-six).[11][12] This streak began with his knockout of Hideyuki Ohashi to win the WBC mini flyweight title in 1990 and ended with his knockout of Zolani Petelo to defend his IBF junior flyweight title in 2001. Ricardo only had one draw, which came against Rosendo Álvarez in 1998 in López's 48th bout and was avenged in the rematch eight months later. His final record was 51 wins (38 knockouts), 0 losses and 1 draw.
