Sugar Ray Leonard wanted to be like Muhammed Ali, Muhammad Ali wanted to be like Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Robinson wanted to be like Joe Louis, Joe Louis wanted to be like Jack Johnson and so on... we all have inspirations, don't let that stop you from trying to imitate anyone you admire or look up to! Because the greatest had someone to look up to as well.

Duran s body wasnt functioning, shut down, then the humiliation made Duran quit. (Some say he didnt say 'no mas', the commentator made that up) leonard didnt want third matchup against Duran. There can be only one.
Try to mirror/copy an all time great like Leonard n yer gonna fall on yer face, boxing used to be too tough a sport to be anyone but yerself.
I totally agree if yer gonna show a kid a boxer show em Ray n tell his story, hes an inspirational boxing icon but to copy him ?
It cant be done, hes a one off doing wat he done in a one off era vs the calibre of fighters back then.
Boxings a pantomime gravy train now, its a pampered bitch boy era now, MMA is King Of The Jungle & its only a matter of time before amateur boxing becomes a feeder sport for it while pro boxing continues to slide toward becoming this eras Saturday afternoon pro wrestling.

LaLonde was a LightHeavyWeight, but Leonard forced the promoters to have the fight at the lighter division, thus leaving LaLonde extra weight drained, which negatively affects strength and stamina. An excellent documentary on an excellent fighter, skills, charisma, speed, power, footwork, ring generalship and a sneaky mean streak all rolled up into one fighter. I grew up watching his fights, he was awesome

My favorite fighter of all time. I worked for his mother for a short period of time. Every time Sugar Ray fought I was glued to the TV. He captivated me, I started boxing in my youth due to him.

Born in 82 so around 87 i see my folks gather in the living room. Its a boxing match and i heard the name sugar ray. When i watched that match i thought i had seen an extraordinary, extra terrestrial power. He is the first boxer i heard of. Then i got interested in boxing and my folks start to tell me about someone who was great before him. Mohammed Ali, then i hear Joe Frazier and George Foreman.

I was born in 1977 my first book report i had to write I wrote it about Sugar Ray. He was like a super hero to me. Kids talked about Superman Spiderman Hulk And I talked about Sugar Ray and Jerry Rice. To me they both was unstoppable and had that dig down deep and fight my way out of anything mentality. 🐐🐐

Every time I watch him it looks like he improved on Ali's style. Even faster, cleaner and more accurate. Kinda like watching Michael Jackson dancing after James Brown.

He was a hybrid between Ali and Frazier or Tyson with Archie Moore and George Benton crossed guard and shoulder roll defense
