    As the first of my gun reviews of the Gun Review Series, I discuss of the Tanfoglio Limited Custom .40 S&W which I use in competition in IPSC Standard Division. I have been shooting the Limited Custom for a little more than 6 and a half years (purchased the guns in 2010). I have more than 32,000 rounds through my main gun (hard chrome) and over 15,000 rounds through my backup Limited Custom.
    Here are a few additional points that I didn't mention in my review or that I think it's important to expand upon. Both gun have been upgraded with Eric Grauffel's line of Xtreme parts with a couple of exceptions. Neither gun has the Xtreme hammer. As well, my Hard Chrome Limited Custom has a Henning flat trigger and DPM Recoil Reduction System. Finally, the Hard Chrome gun has the Xtreme firing pins that requires the firing pin safety block whereas the Gun Kote Limited Custom (my backup gun) has the Xtreme firing pin that does not required the firing pin safety block. So, there are the only differences between my two Limited Customs.
    TRIGGER - The Henning trigger is an outstanding trigger and I prefer it over the Xtreme flat trigger that I have in my backup gun. The Henning trigger is a more "precise" trigger in that in has no excess movement. it is a "tight" trigger where the Xtreme trigger wiggles side to side, as an example.
    SLIDE - The lightening of the slide aid in balancing the pistol and allows the slide to cycle faster. The lightening cut are well done and serves the purpose they were meant for. The lightening cuts also allows the barrel to cool / heat to escape as well.
    Xtreme Firing Pin - Using the firing pin which doesn't require the firing pin safety block helps in reducing the trigger pull. I found that without the firing pin safety block, the trigger pull was reduce by almost a quarter pound in my backup Limited Custom.
    It is important to note that once you have lightened the trigger pull to around 3 lbs, the factory firing pin will start to produce light primer strikes as the firing pin is not long enough. This is why it is important to install the Xtreme firing pin and Xtreme firing pin spring once you decide to do the trigger job to the gun and get the trigger pull 3lbs and less. My triggers are 2 lbs (slightly less) on the hard chrome and 1 lbs 12 oz on the Gun Kote gun (my backup gun).
    FRONT SIGHT - The Xtreme fibre front sight is designed to support the fibre better than the factory fibre front sight. As well, the fibre itself is smaller in diameter than the factory fibre. Using the Xtreme fibre front sight significantly helps in maintaining the life of the fibre longer.
    DPM RECOIL REDUCTION SYSTEM - I met the owner of the company at the 2014 World Shoot in Florida. I had a long talk with him about the DPM and with the research I did, I knew I made a good decision when I purchased several DPM systems for different pistols from Dimitrios (owner and inventor of DPM). Here is the company's website - www.dpmsystems.com .
    Music is "Hey You" by MK2. Thanks for the great sound track.

      Great. I hope to have my review video on the Stock III posted in about a week. I do like my Stock III. The only thing is that the DA trigger is heavy and requires a trigger job as a result. Anyhow, I won't say any more until my video is posted :-)
      Are you in the US, Canada or Europe?

    • @BartoszS

      What are the most popular guns in production and standard division in Canada?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CZ Shadow is definitely very popular in Canada but the Tanfoglio Stock II and Stock III have become more visible in the last couple of years. The Xtreme line is interesting to many Canadian shooters more than I can remember that were interested in the Tanfoglio guns in general. But, even 6 - 7 years ago when I bought my Limited Custom, every match I went to people were making comments about how nice the Limited looked and how well it appeared to shoot. When I let people try my Limited Custom, they are all very impressed with it especially once I did the trigger job. I have both my triggers down to 1 pound 11oz now. I worked on my trigger for the Hard Crome Limited Custom a couple of days ago and reduced the pulled from 2 pounds to 1 pound 11 oz.
      Back to Production guns, I am seeing more and more Tanfoglio Xtreme Stock III than ever before. The Xtreme Stock 2 are a little more expensive so I have not seen many of those. A good friend of mine bought a Xtreme Stock 2 about 5 months ago and it is very nice.
      In Standard Division, the more popular guns are STIs but slowly I'm seeing more Limited Customs. The 2011 guns are most popular.
      Have you been shooting long? Just starting? What holster are you using? I have a Ghost Stinger for my Stock 3.

      Thanks for the positive feedback on my review of the Tanfoglio Limited Custom. Congrats on your purchase of the pistol. Yes, the trigger requires some work but it is easy and simple. The first thing you need to do is remove the trigger bar and trigger plunger. Polish up both to a mirror finish. That will smoothen and lighten the trigger by a degree but more needs to be done. There are a few key parts to change. I recommend the following: Flat trigger (either a Henning or Extreme), Xtreme firing pin (model that doesn't require the firing pin safety block) and firing pin spring (light spring), and finally the Xtreme hammer spring (light or medium). I got the triggers on both my Limited Customs down to 1 lbs 10 oz and 1 Lbs 11 oz by doing what I explained above. In regards to the trigger, I prefer the Henning flat trigger. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. You can also send me en email Shooters-Inc@hotmail.com .

    Thanks for the great review. I have to say I love your reviews, you are real down to earth and give excellent facts and comparisons. It would be really awesome especially for shooters thinking of getting into Standard (shooting Production currently with a Shadow, since funny enough it was near impossible to get Tangfolios here even though Italy is my neighbour country) to know more about the differences of the CZ/Tangfolio system compared to the 2011s shot in Standard and pro/cons of those gun systems. I would value your opinion on this. Best wishes from Europe!

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi and thanks for the positive feedback. I do my best to give a honest review and find it best to compare gun to better show the differences between them. More importantly, comparing guns can really highlight the pros and cons of some guns. Whether it's the Shadow SP-01 or Shadow 2 that a person is using (including you), both Shadows are great guns. I own both and so I do speak from experience with these pistols :-) Tanfoglio pistol can be hard to find in Canada at times. Once the stock is sold out, it can take several months before they reappear on the market. Of course, you would think if you lived (Austria) that close to Italy that should be able to find one easily. Hmmm, isn't that interesting.
      I have been wanting to get my hands on a 2011 for sometime. Many of my fellow competitors have them but I have never had the opportunity to try one. I'm considering a STI Edge .40 S&W. I like this particular STI. If I can find a deal, I'll get one sooner than later. I will definitely do a review on a 2011. Maybe I can borrow a friend's gun to do a review. I'll make sure that I shoot a few hundred rounds with it so that I can produce a honest review.
      Again, thanks for the positive feedback. I truly appreciate it. If you have any questions about any of the guns that I have reviewed, please don't hesitate to ask. It's always good to here from Europe :-)

      Indeed it is weird. I also wanted to try the Shadow2 but it has a 12 month waiting list (US customers preferred...). I was lucky to try a Stock II Extreme from a fellow IPSC shooter during training and was very impressed with the gun. Actually I cannot put it into words as good as you as I am still young into the sport (2nd year), it was just some feel thing. But my Shadow is running fine and I guess will shoot better than me for quite some time, so I am in no hurry to get something else. I guess it is just a little GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) hehe

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, the Stock II Xtreme is definitely a very nice pistol. A friend of mine bought one a few months ago. I have had the opportunity to shoot it a number of time. Like all my Tanfoglios, I wasn't disappointed with the Stock II Xtreme. It has a very nice smooth and light trigger. I'm not quite sure where it sits for the SA and DA. I should measurer is sometime soon. Maybe this weekend as he and I are heading out to a two day IPSC Level 3 match this weekend. I'll bring my trigger pull gauge with me. Anyhow, the Stock II Xtreme as with all my Tanfoglio pistols has a very nice feel in the hands! Haha! I like your GAS term (gear acquisition syndrome).

      @@ShootersInc
      I’m a Danish IPSC RO and been shooting IPSC consistently for 5 years now with a modified Glock 17, so it will probably be a Limited Custom Extreme in 9mm because I love the standard SAO and large mags. (Can’t afford .40 sadly)
      I have been plowing the web thru for a new competition pistol, and Tanfoglios really fits my small hands well, and I love the balance.
      Been looking at the Shadow 2 Orange since the Shadow 2 is one of most popular IPSC pistols here, but don’t see it to be the best in standard because of the SA/DA trigger. (Graufell will probably have CZ build a SAO Standard soon :) )
      I love the Glock for its low to non-maintenance, and reliability with any ammunition.
      However, consistently trying to hit a steel target 50m away just takes too much training time and every time I return to the range, it seems like the first 20 rounds is just warmup to actually hitting the target at that distance.
      It’s not impossible to consistently make tight groups with a well modified Glock, it’s just a lot more hard work compared to a good competition pistol.
      Maybe the amount of ammunition spared by having a forgiving trigger will end up justifying the price tag on the Tanfoglio Limited Custom Extreme compared to the Glock, and that will justify the switch :)

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      goglahey - Sorry, I have fallen behind in my correspondence. Lately have have received many emails from subscribers including comments on videos. Sorry again for my late response. I won't even consider a Glock. Being a polymer gun, there is no weight to the gun and that makes it more difficult to control the recoil. As well, the factory triggers are extremely heavy and not smooth. I'm not surprised that you can't get consistent good groupings.
      I suppose if .40 S&W ammo is too expensive and you want to compete in Standard Division with 9mm, Minor Power Factor,, you will have to practice a lot to become a very accurate shooter in order to be competitive with the Major Power Factor competitors. CZ triggers are great especially on the competition guns such as the Shadow SP-01, Shadow 2 and CZ Tactical Sport Orange. The Shadow 2 is a DA/SA trigger but the SA is very smooth and around 4.5 lbs out of the box. For a few dollars or Euros, you can change the factory main spring (hammer spring) with a 10 or 11 lbs spring which will give you just under a 3 lbs pull with the 10 lbs spring. With the 11 lbs main spring, the SA pull will be slightly above 3 Lbs.
      You have two option to consider: CZ Tactical Sport Orange 9mm (trigger is SA and around 2 lbs pull) and the Tanfoglio Xtreme Limited Custom in 9mm. I have a CZ TSO in .40 S&W and it's a great gun. Watch my review video to find out more about the gun. If you are a serious competitor, then consider one of these guns. I'm not sure if the extra premium you pay for the Xtreme Limited Custom is worth it. I guess if you don't want to do any work to the gun yourself, and you don't mind paying the extra Euros for the Xtreme, buy it. But, you could buy a standard model Limited Custom 9mm and do the trigger job yourself. You will need to instal a few Xtreme parts though: Xtreme firing pin (model that doesn't require the firing pin safety block) and Xtreme firing pin spring, Xtreme flat trigger or a Henning Flat trigger and a light or medium weight hammer spring. You will need to polish the trigger bar and the plunger to a mirror finish install all the parts I mentioned. If your polishing job is a good one, you should be able to get your SA pull down to 2 lbs - 2.5 lbs. I did this work to my Limited Custom .40 S&W and my trigger pull measures at 1 lbs 10 oz.
      I hope this extra info helps you decide on which gun may be consider buying. I just recommended a Tanfoglio Limited Custom to another subscriber over the CZ TSO. He is seriously considering the Limited Custom. I have a couple other subscribers who purchased the Limited Custom and they love it. No surprises to me :-)

    I really liked the review and also the information about the DPM Recoil Reduction System.
    Do you prefer a lighter spring with that system or a stronger?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm glad you found the info I provided interesting / useful. In regards to the DPM spring, I tend to try each spring to determine which spring provides me with the best results - reduced felt recoil, reduce muzzle flip and dip - for the specific ammo I'm using. I match the spring to the reloads. So, I recommend that you try each spring using 2-3 mags for each spring so to determine the best spring for the specific ammo you are shooting. You may find that a specific spring doesn't return you slide fast enough into battery. It can happen so then you will have to go to the next heavier spring to ensure faster slide return or to improve feeding.
      I am using the second heaviest spring in my Limited Custom shooting with a 220gr bullet.

    Excellent review! I've been looking for my first IPSC gun. I need to wait another 6 months to get my permit because of national firearms legislation, but I'm starting to look around for one. I think I'm sold on the Tanfoglio Limited Custom. I too have large hands and Shadows for example tend to seem a bit smallish. And having a gun that fills your hand is just so very important. CZ Tactical Sport feels better so that might be an option too. But the Tanfoglio looks so nice too!
    What is the hard chrome finish like? And how important do you consider the finish of a competition gun to be? Will that finish wear off if its used with a "standard" holster and not one of those competition rigs? And how about weather, if you shoot it outside and you get a bit of rain, how concerned are you of the Tanfoglio or other guns that aren't service pistols with a good and hard finish? I'm asking because I really have no clue about different finishes. I have been shooting guns owned by my shooting club but we shoot at indoor ranges mainly. I'd like not to have to worry about weather or the finish wearing off and the gun then gathering rust in those spots.

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks regarding my review! The Tanfoglio Limited Custom and CZ TS Orange are great guns. The standard model Tactical Sport is quite nice as well. The Limited Custom is my favourite gun. Yes, the gun must feel good in your hands or don't buy it. It is very important that it fits extremely well as it will affect your grip.
      The hard chrome finish is basically stainless steel. You won't have to worry about rust. There is no finish to worry about on the Limited Custom (Hard Chrome). The Gun Kote finish model of the Limited Custom is quite a hard finish but depending on your holster, some wear eventually will appear but this finish can take punishment. I prefer the look of the hard chromes.
      How important is finish on competition guns? Well, remember that it is a tool and as nice as there are and as expensive as they are, they are still tools and they will see some punishment and you will get over any scratches, rub marks, etc after the first mark. It's like when you buy a brand new car. The first scratch real hurts and after that you accept whatever next one you get. Of course, we aren't throwing our guns around. If anything, the magazine take real punishment as they hit the ground so many time over years of practice and competition!
      In summary, you will not regret buying a CZ TS Orange and if it's not in your budget, a standard CZ Tactical Sport is good but I would then consider a standard model Tanfoglio Limited Custom. If the Xtreme Limited Custom is in your budget, go for it. I have upgraded my two Limited Customs with all the Xtreme parts as when I purchased my guns, the Xtreme model didn't exist.
      If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. John

    Well John, just finished watching the video! I did learn quite a bit about my gun - mainly that I need a backup gun of the same model! LOL
    I'm not sure what, or how, to polish the trigger to loose those couple of pounds but I'll have to figure it out. Did yours come with ambi-safety? I'm f not where did you get it? Freedom Ventures? Mine has single safety. My sight had worked loose recently and I had to zero it again. Not a big deal though.
    Hope all is well!

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rick. Well, I figured that it was best to have a backup gun that was identical to my main gun. I didn't want to have to deal with a different gun during competition if I had to go to my backup gun. If you don't have a backup gun, make sure you have some key spare parts: slide lock, firing pin (including spring), front sight, spare fibre, complete safety, sear (and spring).
      As for reducing your trigger pull, you need to polish the entire trigger bar and trigger plunger. I used my Dremel with polishing wheels to do the work. So much faster using the Dremel. I'll send you some pictures, as I think I will disassemble my hard chrome this evening. As I have a Henning trigger in my hard chrome, I can remove and re-install the trigger very easily (in seconds). You will have to deal with the trigger spring which I have always had trouble with.
      My guns came with ambi safeties. You can buy the safety from Freedom Ventures. Surpised that yours didn't come with a ambi safety.
      The rear sight elevation screw loosening is typical and I wish Tanfoglio would put a better rear sight on the gun.

    thinking about getting the witness limited custom, the blueish colored one. i think they call it the tancoat finish. i really like that one. they all seem like very well built firearms. the only thing im having trouble finding for it is a owb holster for the range and potentionally competition that i would like to get into. although that has also been hard to find locally for my area, which im still doing research on that and trying to find local shoot to start in but no luck yet. anyway if u have any recomendations on where to purchase a good owb holster for the tangfolio pistols that would be great cause id really like to purchase the one i mentioned before. thanks for ur videos and hope to hear back from u.

      Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. Sorry for the delayed response but the Christmas holidays have gotten in the way! Lol The finished the greyish coloured Limited Custom is called Gunkote by Tanfoglio. It's a nice finish and is sort of an enamel finish which is quite durable. I have had my Limited Custom with the Gun note finish for some 9 years and it has seen a lot of use.
      As for an OWB holster, I can give you three options. Blade Tech used to make a nice polymer injected type of competition holster. I have one of those. As well, Ghost International has two options for a holster for the Limited Custom: The One and the Stinger / Thunder. Actually, Ghost may have two other options and you could check out their Ultimate and Ghost Hybrid holsters.
      The One holster is a speed holster made for competition as the gun is only secured by the trigger guard and at the muzzle end of the holster. I have this holster and it's a great one. It also allows you to have a thumb rest on your gun whereas other more traditional holster will not accommodate a thumb rest.
      The Blade Tech, Ghost Stringer / Thunder and Ghost Hybrid are all traditional looking holsters that have been cut lower at the front for competition so that you can draw faster as the muzzle clears the holster sooner. The Ghost holster are superior to the Blade Tech as the Ghost holsters have more adjustability than the very limited adjustability of the Blade Tech holster.
      I don't know much about the Ghost Ultimate holster but is is likely very similar to the Double Alpha speed holster. Ah, I almost forgot to mention to checkout Double Alpha as they definitely have a speed holster for the Limited Custom. The Ghost Ultimate and Double Alpha speed holsters only secure the gun by the trigger guard. No everyone likes or is comfortable with this type of speed holster.
      I would recommend the Ghost The One holster for a speed holster and the Ghost Stinger / Thunder as a more traditional polymer / kydex type of holster. I'll be honest. With practice you should be able to draw your gun equally fast out of either holster. I've started to return to kydex type holster rather than using a speed holster. If I am using a gun with a thumb rest, I have to choice but to use a speed holster.
      Hope all this helps. Merry Christmas!

In Limited or Limited 10, I certain you can use any type of holster be that a speed holster or a kydex competition holster. The USPSA rule book is available on-line. If you had to choose only one in 9mm for 3 gun competitions between the CZ TS orange and the tanfoglio limited extreme, which would you choose? Isn't the barrel on the CZ slightly longer?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      D Jones Yes, the barrel and frame /dust cover is about a 1/4" longer on the TS Orange compared to the Limited Custom. Good question....which would I chose between the two gun for 3 Gun? I prefer the Limited Custom for one very basic reason. The extended mag-well has perfect blending with the pistol whereas the TS Orange does not. Using a Dremel, you can fit that issue on the TS Orange. Otherwise, the TS Orange is ready for competition right out of the box whereas that standard Limited Custom is not. To be fair to Tanfoglio, a Limited Custom Xtreme should be compared to the TS Orange as the Xtreme's trigger has been worked on from the factory. Only difference would be that the TS Orange comes with a thumb rest and the Limited Custom does not but does has pre-drilled holes on both sides of the gun for either a sight mount or thumb rests. The TS Orange is only setup for a right handed shooter regarding the Thumb Rest. Some else to consider is that the Limited Custom has a polygonal rifled conical barrel. The TS Orange barrel is a regular cold forged barrel with standard rifling. Polygonal rifling contributes to accuracy as does the conical barrel. Polygonal rifled barrels last longer as well. So, you question is not as straight forward to answer as you can see. You must look at a number of factors such as type of barrel and type of rifling. Something else I prefer on the Limited Custom is that the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation whereas the TS Orange rear sight is only adjustable for elevations. Windage must be adjusted using a sight adjustment tool. So, if I had to choose between the TS Orange and MY Limited Custom, I would choose my Limited Custom the way I have it setup. Hope this helps. Thanks for the question!

      I haven't seen any site that provides what the trigger pull is on the Limited Custom Xtreme. My Limited Custom is a standard model which I upgraded with Extreme parts. I did my own trigger job polishing the trigger bar to a mirror finish. After installing a few key Xtreme parts (Xtreme medium hammer spring, Xtreme firing pin not requiring the firing pin safety block, Xtreme firing pin spring, Xtreme Flat trigger or Henning Flat trigger), I got my trigger pul down to 1 lbs 11 oz. I think it is more cost effective to buy a standard model Limited Custom, a few Xtreme parts and do the trigger work yourself.

I have not installed either Xtreme part as I saw no real advantage in their use. In all honesty, I don't believe there is much value in installing either of these parts. I have been running the factory sears and hammer in both my Limited Customs. I fly had to replace the factory sear in my primary Limited Custom once. That sear had about 15,000 rounds. very good video, thank you. I hesitate between a CZ Shadow single action, and a Tanfoglio for static shooting and fun shooting. What is your opinion ? What is the best Tanfo in your opinion (stock II, III, limited custom)? thanks for your advices

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you simply want to do some static fun shooting, plinking, I would recommend a 9mm and not a 40 S&W which the Limited Custom that I have is. Now, it is possible to get a Limited Custom in 9mm but I’m not sure how available they are as the Limited Custom is a single action. I do have a question for you. Do I understand you correctly that you want a single action (SA) pistol rather than a double action? If would recommend that you get a double action (DA) as you can always shooting a double action capable pistol in SA but not the other way around. Furthermore, just to keep the fun going, if you have a light strike, you can simply pull the trigger again if the pistol is a DA and very likely the cartridge will go off. The two pistols I would recommend are the Tanfoglio Stock 3 and Shadow SP-01. You don’t need to spend the extra money on a CZ Shadow 2 or Tanfoglio Limited Custom. As the CZ Shadow SP-01 doesn’t have a rear sight that can adjust in windage, I tend to lean towards the Tanfoglio Stock 3 as the rear sight is adjustable in elevation and windage. The triggers of the CZ pistols are fantastic right out of the box. The Tanfoglio Stock 3’s trigger is pretty smooth and I really have no complaints about it but it is definitely not as light in SA and DA as the Shadow SP-01. Having said that, you shouldn’t shy away from the Stock 3 for that reason, the trigger. You can easily improve the Stock 3’s trigger by polishing up the trigger bar to a mirror shine. As you will simply be plinking with the pistol, you don’t really need to polish up the trigger but if you wanted to, you can find a TH-cam video on how to disassemble the Stock 3 so to remove the trigger bar. With a Dremel and polishing kit, you can have the trigger bar polished up in no time. Polish up the trigger plunger as well to complete the job 100%.
      You can’t go wrong with either pistol. I recommend that you hold each pistol before buying one to confirm which pistol feels the best in your hands. Remember that grip panels can always be changed to improve your grip and feel on the gun. Maybe you need the grip to be more slender for your hands. Therefore, you can buys some LOK Grips for either pistol or some other grip panels.
      I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

      I use CCI primers as well and pretty much exclusively. I have a few light primer strikes but I believe they are a result that my hammer spring is too light now due to wear. I likely have around 26,000 rounds on the spring. Add my dry fire training over the last year +, the hammer spring has had a pretty good workout. I will be changing the hammer spring. In regards to your gun which is new, you should have no issues with light strikes. I would be quite surprised if you do. If you do have a few light primer strikes, let me know. • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, standard Limited Custom model. Good to know. If you did start getting light primer strikes, I would recommended a Xtreme firing pin and firing pin spring as this firing pin is longer than the factory firing pin. Now, the reason other people may be experiencing light primer strikes is because they have perhaps done a trigger job other guns and lightened the trigger pull significantly. Once you have lighten the trigger pull to 3 lbs and less, you will definitely start experiencing light primer strikes if the factory firing pin is still being used. You must have an extended firing pin when you have a 3lbs or less trigger pull. So, I'm sure your gun will do just fine but your SA trigger pull will likely be close to 5 lbs out of the box. You will want to reduce your trigger pul so a trigger done will be required. I did my own trigger job and I have reduced my trigger pull to 1 lbs 11 oz....so very very light. A trigger job is not that difficult to do on a Limited Custom. Get yourself a Dremel tool with polishing wheels and of polishing paste. You polish the trigger bar and trigger plunger to a mirror finish. That is the first part of the trigger job. Second, replace the factory firing pin with a Xtreme firing pin and firing spring. Buy the Xtreme firing pin that does not require a firing pin safety block. You should be able to get your trigger pull reduced to around 2.5 lbs. The better the polishing job of the trigger bar and trigger puller you do, the more the polishing job will contribute to the trigger pull reduction. To complete the trigger job and get the trigger pull right down, you will need to install a flat or straight trigger. I would recommend a Henning flat trigger. The Xtreme flat triggers are good but the Henning is far better in my opinion. I speak from experience as I have tried both the Henning and Xtreme flat triggers.

      Hi Lou. Hope all is well down south. As always, thanks for your feedback. Why the Tanfoglio Limited Custom rather than another gun? Good question. Where do I start and I will keep my answer as concise as I can. I like all metal guns as I like heavier guns to lighter ones as the weight contributes to recoil management. So, that factor strikes off a number of guns....all polymer guns. The gun must also feel good in my hands. I have larger hands so I tend to like a gun that is bigger in the grip. The Tanfoglio meets these two key criteria - weight and feel. In my mind the only other contender for me would be STI guns. As an example, I like the STI Edge. I held one but never had the opportunity to shoot one. Why have I not bought a STI. The mags tend to be a problem in the 2011s. I have a number of friends who have STIs and most of them complain about the mags. It takes a lot to tune them, they say, and keeping them tuned. The mags tend to be the weakest link in most if not all guns....quality guns. Lower end guns will have many other issues that simply don' make them good competition guns. Both the Tanfoglios and STIs are readily available to me. Other guns I like and would consider are not. So, that obviously is a factor I have to consider.... I find the Tanfoglio guns to be solid and well made guns. Do they have their issues, sure just like every other gun. In short, being very brief, that is why I have stayed with Tanfoglio as my primary competition guns.
      Now, ask me if I would like to have a Limcat...custom gun. My answer would be yes!! I have held a number of Limcats in my hands and seen them in action. Unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to shoot one. Most custom guns are made in the US and well, it's just too much trouble to get them up here. Of course there is the price tag to consider. I have two friends with beautiful Limcats....$5000 plus a piece. My one friend has a primary and backup Limcat....$10,000 plus. Anyhow, if Limcat would send me one to review, I'd love that. LOL

    Hey! good video as usual!
    your tips have helped me to quickly get put among the better shooters, thanks for that!
    I have a question regarding Firing Pin and Safety Block that you talked about. I have the "real" Xtreme limited custom 9x19. I have a small circle on my Firing Pin, I saw that the standard model did not. do you mean that I can remove my Safety Block for a better trigger?
    I have another question, what size do you have on your Henning trigger: small, medium or large?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback on my videos. I'm glad that they had been useful to you!
      The two models of Xtreme firing pins look very different when you compare them. The model that does not require the use of the firing pin safety block has two small "rings" and in between the rings is only the round shaft of the firing pin. Compare your factory firing pi to your Xtreme firing pin. If the rear port of the both firing pins look similar, then you must continue using the firing pin safety block as you would if you were using the factory firing pin. Without using pictures to explain the difference between the firing pins, my explanation is the best I can do. Here is a link to a picture of the Xtreme firing pin that does not require the firing pin safety block - goo.gl/images/UBMcD5 . Let me know if your firing pin looks like this. If it does, don't use your firing pin safety block and your trigger pull will reduce a little bit....it will be a little bit lighter. Have you polished the outside of your trigger bar and top of your trigger plunger? Doing this polishing can easily reduce your trigger pull between 2 - 2.25 pounds. If you then install the Xtreme firing pin that doesn't require the firing pin safety block, Henning flat trigger and Xtreme medium or light hammer spring (you must match the hammer spring to the Xtreme firing pin spring), you will likely reduce the trigger pull by an additional .75 - 1 pound.
      Hmmm, good question about my Henning trigger? I have the long trigger if I am not mistaken. It's been 5 years since I installed it but I'm fairly certain it is the long one.

      Shooter's Inc thank you for your answer. My xtreme firing pin does not look like you meant, I have this with the small circle: www.ericgrauffelonlineshop.com/en/upper-parts/216-tanfoglio-xtreme-firing-pin.html
      I was going to polish my trigger bar and plunger, but because I bought a real xtreme so the job of polishing was already so well done so I could not improve. They have really done a good job in the factory with the Xtreme models.
      I also agree about the DPM Recoil System, now I shoot only 9x19, but the difference there is very great.
      I am very satisfied with my Tanfoglio Limited Custom Xtreme, the trigger is good from the beginning, most preferably, when compared to a standard Limited Custom, then the difference is large.
      but now after 30,000 rounds with this gun would be a trigger from Henning make matters better, I think that the current Xtreme trigger is good, but not perfect.
      And I did not know that there was a firing pin that would improve the gun more than my original xtreme I already have. So I want to thank you very much for taking the time to show me the new model! (Xtreme Firing Pin 2.0) as Eric apparently call it.
      it's night here in Sweden now, so tomorrow I'll order new trigger, firing pin and a little different springs. So after the winter when the shooting starts, I have nothing more to improve on the gun. then it's my technique, movement and much more that will always be improved.
      I know I wrote a little too much now, but I have a big problem in my shooting, I hope to get a tip on:
      I close my eyes for a moment, waiting for the shot, which is a big problem for my alphas hits. Last summer I shot about 30,000 shots, of which 25,000 with my Tanfoglio. So it is not because I have to shoot more. Do you have any tips to remove my problem?
      Now I would like to give you some extra praise:
      There are not many shooters in your level who take the time to answer questions as you do!
      And I've seen all your videos (plus many others) and I think you do a great job getting us viewers to understand what you mean, while you stick to what is interesting and important to learn both for beginners and the more experienced shooters who want to refine their shooting.
      Good training tips too!
      Keep up the good work!
      I hope not my long comment was too much for you, then I apologize!

      Hi Robin. I like to talk about shooting and firearms so your comments are very much appreciated and not long at all :-)
      First, the firing pin you have definitely requires the firing pin safety block. If you want your trigger to be a little smoother and lighter, get the other firing pin and it sounds like that is exactly what you will be doing. That's great that you have the Xtreme Limited Custom. It wasn't available when I bought my Limited Customs. I am surprised that the Xtreme has the firing pin than requires the safety block! Maybe one day, I'll get a chance to try a Xtreme Limited Custom so I can see for myself just how good of a job the factory has done on the trigger! I don't have a Tanfoglio Stock II and maybe I'll think about buying a Xtreme Stock II to complete my Tanfoglio competition gun collection. LOL
      The DPM make a lot of difference and I the DPM in many of my pistols. I have the DPM in two of my 9mm and recommend it even for a 9mm. Why not take every advantage you can get for competition.
      The Henning trigger is a better trigger than the Xtreme trigger. I have both and the Henning trigger is the trigger to use.
      Thanks for the "praise". I truly appreciate it. I try to do my best to make my videos interesting and to explain the issues / points well. Comments like yours gives me the motivation to continue making more videos. Thanks!!
      Let me think about your question regarding your eyes. Just to clarify.... Do you shoot with both eyes open or one eye closed?

      Hello again!
      If a word does not fit in, it's because I use Google Translate to translate from Swedish to English :)
      So it does not matter that when I change the firing pin, it will then be a hole in the slide where the Saftey block would sit?
      When I decided to buy a Limited Custom Xtreme I had to wait for 6 months before the first delivery of Xtreme came to Sweden.
      Now when I look back I am very happy that I waited instead of buying a "normal" LC.
      Regarding my eyes, I try to shoot with both eyes open, but it's like I'm watching with one and a half because I always turned a blind eye to the past and are now trying to get me to use two now that I only shoot IPSC.
      If my problem has to do with that I do not know, I maby think too much on the eyes?
      I can never really know where I shot because I just close my eyes when I shoot.
      Same with the trigger control, where I lose control just the moment I shoot as well.
      Something that might help a little is if I recently shot 44mag,
      it feels much better and easier to get control of 9mm afterwards with 150gn bullets DPM recoil system feels the 9mm as a 22LR when I recently shot hot 44mag,
      shooting works then suddenly well, I do not close my eyes or lose trigger control.
      Even though I trained a lot, so are more training is always good.
      But in this case it is so hard because this happens so fast shooting float on by itself, and then I have to stop, take the more cautious and think of my eyes and trigger control.
      Which never going to do in a competition or training where it should go fast.

      No problem regarding Google Translate. I use it sometimes for German and French (I speak both but ....sometime I can't think of some words).
      Firing Pin - no problem about the hole in the slide with the firing pin safety block removed and using the other Xtreme firing pin. Don't worry about it.
      Eyes - I don't shoot with both eyes open all the time. The only time I may have both eyes open is when I'm shooting at targets between 3m-15m. When the targets are further than 15m, I absolutely shoot with one eye closed as it is much more accurate. This is how Eric Grauffel shoots as well. I used to be a Bullseye shooter and we all know that you are more accurate with one eye closed. In the military / police / security force, shooting with both eyes open is for survival reasons as we must be aware of our surroundings as the enemy can come from any direction. In IPSC shooting you have no enemy and it is definitely not critical to see the entire stage. You should know where you are going next, shooting spot to shooting spot. If you walked the stage well and paid attention to the target array setup, you don't need advanced warning of where the targets are while shooting at a target array in order to prepare for your next shooting location. Don't worry about shooting with both eyes open. In fact, my weak eye tends to be half open only at all distances. I started shooting that way after taking Eric Grauffel's Level 1, 2 and 3 courses in 2014. On his course, he discussed this issue of shooting with both eyes open.
      I'm an experienced shooter but I believe that we can always learn more, learn new things or learn how to do things better. This was part of my motivation to take Eric's courses. I am very competitive and I also knew that I would get a lot of good ideas regarding how to train better (ideas on drills, etc) by taking Eric's courses. I have an open mind and I did learn a lot from Eric and I highly recommend his courses. I hope to take his advance courses in the near future.
      Ok, so back to the eyes. As you said that you also close both eyes when shooting fast...at least that is what I think you are saying, I believe that you are shooting faster than you current skill level. You need to ensure that you slowdown your shootings (not your movement) while training. That is the first step. You should choose a few drills where you must concentrate on your sight alignment and trigger control. As well, you must follow this advice which I got from Eric..."Shoot no faster than what will allow you to get all Alphas". This is important as it means that you are acknowledging what your skill level is. Shoot no faster than what will get you all Alphas! During your training, do your very best to shoot around 75-80% of your normal speed that you would shoot during a match. You want to be able to concentrate on executing your shooting techniques perfectly as you are training your subconscious. Sight alignment, trigger control and a few other things should be controlled by your subconscious. What I mean by this is that you shouldn't be thinking of your sight alignment and trigger control as an example while you are competing. If you train properly, you subconscious does this for you as your thoughts should be on other things like concentrating on what targets you will be shooting next, your route to the next shooting location, and where you will be changing magazine.
      So, here is my suggestion to help you with your eyes, accuracy, trigger control and speed of shooting. Start every training session with accuracy training drills first. Shoot two 10 round groups (two separate mags). Shoot the tightest groupings you can. Concentrate on each shot, take you time (no rushing) and don't allow your trigger / finger to go past the trigger reset. As soon as you hear the trigger reset, stop and prepare for the next shot. This "drill" / exercise will help you with sight alignment and trigger control. Next drill is also an accuracy drill but it is also training for ensuring a good draw and grip. The drill is to draw the gun and take one shot. It better be an alpha. Do that for one magazine. Then do the same drill but take two shots now. Again, they better be alphas....ok, the odd Charlie is ok but really, they should be alphas! Why? Because you should not be shooting any faster than what will allow you to get all alphas. With this drill, make sure you have good sight alignment for each shot not just the first shot. DON'T double tap! Having a sight picture for each shot means you have controlled pairs.
      Next drill requires 2 or 3 targets, your choice. You will do the same as you did with the previous drill but now take 2 shots at each targets. Again, shoot controlled pairs (no double tapping) as you want to obtain good sight alignment for each shot. Remember your goal is all Alphas. It will start getting challenging with this drill for a number of reasons. Don't rush the drill as I know we all want to shoot fast but getting Charlies or especially Deltas is not helping us win a stage or match. Make every shot count. Make sure you follow through on your second shot before moving to the next target. Too many of us don't follow through and actually start to move the gun to the next target before we are actually finished with the previous target. That will cause a non-alpha hit or miss. So, follow through on the second shot then transition to the next target. This drill will help you with so many things: draw and grip, sight alignment, trigger control, recoil control, follow through of last shot, target transition and controlling your overall speed of shooting ensuring that you shot no faster than what will allow you to get Alphas.
      What I have described above is how I start all my training sessions. It teaches me discipline and control so that when I do shoot a match and move and shoot fast, I'm shooting to my skill level and not exceeding that skill level unless I have purposefully make the decision to push myself to my absolute limit / breaking point. I think part of your problem regarding closing both eyes is that you are shooting too fast and you need to train yourself to be more disciplined and control your shooting speed.
      You make the comment that when you shoot your .44 Mag, you find your eyes tend to remain open. Not surprised at that. You are shooting slower with the .44 Mag than with the 9mm. As well, you find it easier to shoot the 9mm after shooting the .44 Mag. I guess you mean that recoil control is easier when you switch to the 9mm. I actually train using a .45 Auto many times to help develop and maintain my level of recoil control with my Limited Custom which is a .40 S&W. So, training with a larger caliber to help develop your recoil control skill is a good idea. As well, you really should take advantage of the added benefit that using the DPM gives you.
      Hope all this helps. Any questions? Any comments? Let me know.

    What holster are you using?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a few holsters for the my Limited Customs: Blade Tech competition, USA / SLB and Ghost The One Pro. I started with the a Blade Tech holster. This holster is a goof holster but when I decided to install a thumb rest, the Blade Tech holster could not be used anymore. I have it as a backup holster now. Once I installed the thumb rest on the gun, I purchased custom built holster out of Finland called the SLB. At some point in tie SLB teamed up with USA (Universal Shooting Academy) and the holster became known as the USA holster. This holster is outstanding and is the most adjustable holster I have ever owned. I used this holster for some 6 years. I have to replace a spring that is part of the locking holster's system and it has worn somewhat so the gun is not in as tight in the holster anymore. But, I have gotten a ton of use out of it and eventually all things wear out. Until I can repair it, I am using the next best holster, Ghost THE ONE PRO. The ONE PRO holster is another fantastic holster which I do not hesitate to recommend. I believe the SLB / USA holster is no longer made so the Ghost is the next best holster.

    John will a 9mm slide fit on the .40 frame? You think 9mm magazine will work also in .40 frame?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Tanfoglio Limited Custom and Gold Custom (open gun) are large frame pistols. The 9mm mags from the Gold Custom fit the Limited Custom .40 S&W. How can I confirm this? I have both guns🙃 As for a 9mm slide fitting onto the frame of a Limited Custom .40, yes, it will fit. You can’t put the slide of the Gold Custom on the Limited Custom because the dust cover of the Limited Custom is longer than that of the Gold Custom. If you buy a 9mm slide for a Tanfoglio large frame pistol, it will fit.

      @@charlie-delta-mike5041 is the Domina a large frame? If it is, it should fit the Limited Custom frame. Do you know someone that has a Domina? You can test it dry fire first. If the slide moves smoothly by hand, it should work. That’s the best answer I can give you.

    What thumb rest is that?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      CR Speed RHT thumb rest. I had these thumb rest on my guns for 7 years and I have changed the thumb rest that I have on my hard chrome. I installed the new Tanfoglio thumb rest which can be adjusted forward or backwards to get a better position for your thumb and overall grip. As well, the Tanfoglio thumb rest is no higher than the frame. Compared to the RHT thumb rest which extends over the frame and to the slide, the Tanfoglio thumb rest does not. As such, I believe that reduces the chance that your thumb may touch the slide during recoil.

    DPM Systems website is a little confusing. They have two different sizes for the limited & limited custom. 113mm & 125mm barrel, Which one do you use?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to specifically look into this issue that you are stating but there are some of the Tanfoglios that can be purchased that have an option of two different barrel lengths. As an example the Tanfoglio Stock II sold in Australia, has a longer barrel than the Stock II sold in Europe and in Canada we can purchased the Stock II with either barrel length. My Tanfoglio Limited Custom is 125mm. What barrel length do you have?

    • @chicointheman
      @chicointheman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live in the USA and my barrel length is 4.75 inches. It’s the same gun you’re showing in the video minus the slide cuts.

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, that's the same barrel length as mine. The DPM that you must choose is for the Limited Custom not Limited. There is a new version out now which I must get. Here is the link to the new version - dpmsystems.com/tanfoglio-limited-custom-2017-40sw-special-edition-cerakot-12-adjustable-settings . I see that there is a third spring bushing and the head of the recoil rod has been redesigned and is more like the Eric Grauffel Xtreme recoil rod. Send me an email - Shooters-Inc@hotmail.com

      I’m going to try out that special edition, but for some reason they don’t sell them on the dpm system USA Sight yet. I guess I’ll have to order it off eBay from a shop in Israel.

      You're welcome....glad to be of help. Zahal in Israel sell DPMs and they drop ship them from the US. I have purchased DPMs from them in the past. The Special Edition was only recently released as a few weeks ago I did not see that new version on the Greek website.

    What is the magazine capacity?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Canada, magazine capacity is limited to 10 rounds as per the law. Otherwise, you can get 16 or 17 rounds of .40 S&W in a standard non-Canadian magazine using the Xtreme (Eric Grauffel Design) mag base pad and the new Tanfoglio magazine followers.

    Hey bud Its me Ronald I'm still in France msg me on FB btw I send you a friend request on my 2nd account Ron Noveske I will be selling my Shadow 2 and CZ TS and will buy the Tanfo Limited custom Extreme or the CZ orange what is your choice if you had to choose 1 ?

    • @ShootersInc
      @ShootersInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I gave you my response in an email Ron but if I didn't..... Hmmmm, talk about being put on the spot!! Both guns are beautiful guns. I haven't handled a Xtreme Limited Custom as my Limited Customs are the standard models but 90% upgraded with Xtreme parts and I have done trigger jobs to them myself. My triggers are both 1 lbs 11 oz. As you know I have a CZ TS Orange (trigger pull is 1 lbs 11 oz) and I am extremely impressed with it! Both guns are approximately the same price so really no difference there to help choose one or the other. You will have to add a $100 thumb rest on the Xtreme Limited Custom and add nothing on the TS Orange but you will have to blend the extended magwell into the pistol's magwell using a file or Dremel tool. So, you will have to do that key work to the magwell on the Orange. If you didn't want to do that blending work on the TS Orange, then I must recommend the Xtreme Limited Custom over the TS Orange. You have my answer. Oh, to be very picky, the CZ mags that come with the TS Orange in Canada are not great because of the polymer block which makes these mags a three piece mag (main body, polymer block and base pad). The Tanfoglio mags are superior compared to the CZ mags we get with our TS Orange in Canada. You will have to get new CZ mags that are one complete solid steel body. That is what I have done and these mags are approximately $75US and then you will need to buy aluminum base pads as these mags come with plastic base pads that will not last long on the concrete floors of indoor ranges for when we shoot in the winter time. There you have it, all the info you need to make your decision. Have fun. Buy both as they make for a nice collection of competition guns!! LOL
