    Green was a 1 on 1 blanket cover corner who would lock down the opponents best receiver so the remining secondary members could play zone or double team others. He was so effective the ball wasn't even tossed in his direction more than a few times per game. He was unbelievably good. He is underrated because his name wasn't mentioned often because opposing QB's couldn't find their primary target open. This is why he didn't have many pick offs. No opportunities if the ball isn't near you. A different level than all others before or since.

      @@colberttravers9450 No debate? Get out of here dude, Montana would tear up this era. Brady got the last 3 rings in his later age, if he played in the 80s like Montana he would never been playing this late in his career.

    • @muccmaster
      @muccmaster 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh please, you can say what if all you want but the reality is what actually happened. You act like Brady wouldn't tear up the 80s. Questioning his toughness is just idiotic, aside from his ACL tear in 08 he's never missed a game due to injury. If you watch Brady he doesn't get hurt because he gets rid of the ball too quick or he covers up and takes a sack. You see all the other QB's in the league getting injured but not him. Guys are so much faster and stronger now than the 80s anyway so even if they can't get away with what they used to do you still take a beating.
      Montana only made it to 4 SBs and played with no free agency, it was SO much easier to win back then. 6>4 regardless and Brady has annihilated every record Montana set. Also AFC Least? Maybe you should look at the stats and see that the AFC East is actually middle of the pack in terms of how good they've been and that the Patriots have a higher win% OUTSIDE of their division. www.reddit.com/r/Patriots/comments/9vm86h/the_myth_of_the_easy_afc_east/

    • @MisterMasterShafter1
      @MisterMasterShafter1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Please just stop. Brady's sole advantage over Montana is the pathetic Arena League era of NFL he has enjoyed, and the patsies he gets to play against every week and every year in his weak ass division to rack up easy Ws and playoff position - and a conference that Belichick has owned for two decades. Montana played in the 1980s where it was still not only legal and fine for defenses to light QBs and WRs TF up all day, but when it came to the elite QBs, they were *trying* to light them up and get them TF out of the game. No buddy buddy, "sign my kid's jersey" hocus pocus crap like now. Moveover, the 1980s NFC was the nastiest conference in NFL history, with several other teams in it besides Montana's Niners that were SB winners, with some of the nastiest defenses in league history. Parcells' Giants, Ditka's Bears, Gibbs' Redskins, Landry's Cowboys, and other nasty defenses like Philly's and the Rams. There is a reason the NFCCG in that era was always referred to as *The Real Super Bowl!,* and that the NFC of that era won the SB like 15 out of 16 years! Montana had to beat other SB Champions just to GET to the SB! It's also no coincidence that most all of the long time NFL passing records broken, have been broken over the last decade or so. Nor it is a coincidence that today's top QBs have magically been able to play for 15, 16, 17, 18 years, and remain healthy into their 40s - which was unheard of in Montana's era, because QBs were mangled by then. The NFL has become a glorified Arena League, where defenses can't remotely light QBs (and WRs) up like the 1980s. Brady knows it as much as I do, trust me.

    All of these men, I consider as heroes. Additionally, I’m so happy to see Darrelle sitting there as one of the elite legends - I watched every game that man played and I wasn’t even a Jets fan, hoping one day he’d be considered as one of the greatest ever. He truly deserves it. Real Aliquippa dawg

    I like the way these guys exude the supreme confidence it takes to be a great defensive back. Ask any of the great corners or safeties about who the best is and they will often say themselves...even when there is evidence to the contrary.

    I'm late seeing this. But I will give part of my finger to meet Ronnie Lott. Mr. Lott you helped mold my life watching you while I was in high school. My Senior year I got to wear #42 while playing safety. I helped my team to the state championship. Only to be stopped by a Burlington Cummings team that was stacked with talent. But believe me, that year all opposing receivers will forever remember my #42.
