Hope you guys are doing great... I don't know how old you 2 are... The first one in 1990 is was really good for adaption of a cartoon and TMNT actually started as a comic book and was darker.... The 1990 movie is a little closer to the comic.... Plus Jim Henson made the turtle suits which in my opinion hold up still today and look really good... the fight scenes are pretty good.... All the characters from the cartoon are in the movie... The 2nd is pretty good too.... Sorry for rambling so long but if you're gonna jump into the TMNT universe then you have to check out the original live action movies... Just a suggestion though and hope all is well with you 2

I don't know if you guys seen any Jackie Chan action movies, but not only that Jackie Chan voiced splinter in this movie, the way they animated/choreograph splinters fight scene is also based of Jackie chan's iconic fight scenes style - kicking butts while being stressed/worried, clumsy (comedic fight) and the use of the environment is such a Jackie Chan thing.
Whats amazing about this is that the kids who played the turtles record their voices all in the same time and the same recording room/studio, so yes even though this is an animated movie the four kids who played the turtles have great chemistry with each other even in real life
Hamato Yoshi, master of ninjutsu, gets mutated into a rat along with the turtles by the mutagen or ooze and goes by his nickname Splinter (1987 and 2012 animated series). Hamato Yoshi has a pet rat named Splinter who mimics the moves and learns the art of ninjutsu from him. Yoshi gets killed and Splinter survives. Splinter meets the turtles covered with the ooze and they along with him very mutated (1990 movie and 2003 animated series) These two are different origin versions of Hamato Yoshi and Splinter.
Splinter this movie: "What are they up to?" "Eh doesn't matter, too lazy to get up. When it becomes a problem, it will come to me." *April shows up with a problem* "What did I say..."
When Leo asked if Splinter was communicated w/ Scumbug, its a reference to earlier w/ his friend Kevin. Both were roaches & in some way he had a connection w/ them from the start. Also if u look @ the overall look of the TCRI Lab where the Turtles were held it was very reminiscent of the layout for the Transdimensional portal room of the old animated series. Lastly when the Turtles & Splinter part ways w/ April leaving the TCRI building u can notice the I has a oval round it makin it look like the technodrome eye🤔
Hey I really recommend the 2012 series. Similar characters, good ongoing story, lotta fun. The 2003 series was nice in a more serious way, but I gotta give it second place.
Only two films this year have managed to keep a smile on my face from beginning to end & they have been TMNT MM & "Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves" both just blew me away at how charming, hilarious and damn right entertaining they were
Love the turtles! Michelangelo has always been mine! And now he’s even more so especially after The Last Ronin! And ohhh yeah, Aliens will be out before the end of the week ❤️
Can you guys PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do Kubo and the Two Strings! Its by the studio that made Coraline and its so fucking rich in its story, animation, score and action. Its too epic to pass up 😭
if spiderverse convinced us just how amazing animation can look, mutant mayhem taught us that animation with looser sloppier artstyles can look just as amazing and i think that's pretty valuable and this may be a bit cynical despite the fact that i enjoyed puss in boots but i feel like visually it was little more than just spiderverse fan art. the fact that everyone's reaction to it has been "oh man puss in boots did NOT have to go this hard" is everyone silently admitting that puss is kinda lame haha
Hmmm, the 1990 tmnt has a darkness and a different flavour. That is a strong recommedation for review. It holds up today as arguably the best tmnt movie because of what they did and how they did it. Given how much you appreciated robocop for what it was you'll appreciate the original tmnt movie.
Hey if you're watching animated things, Bleach/Naruto (in Japanese) are a couple of my old favorite shows. One Piece just dropped an English live action show on Netflix and I think it's got my approval. The anime are too long running to react to imo, but 3 seasons of Bleach is a fair stepping off point for some casual viewing. The show is worth continuing, but it's fair to say the quality is more drawn out over time rather than the well paced beginning.
You're starting to watch animated movies now and you've reacted to a couple of the more recent ones, like this one and Puss In Boots, The Last Wish. I have a couple of others that I think you'll love if you haven't seen them already. Try Ratatouille (mentioned in Everything Everywhere All At Once as Racacoonie) and Megamind. They're so funny and well made. Endearing stories too with unconventional heroes.
I like that studios are remembering that animation can be FUN and creative and different! And we are pulling away from that disney pixar everything looks the same style.

James Cameron’s Aliens! Absolutely amazing. I can’t wait for the sequels to this! I have a feeling they will gradually become a bit darker in tone as the turtles grow and I’m excited for the journey 😃

If you haven't seen it you should absolutely watch the TMNT movie from the 90s. It's a live action one and its the best.

That’s awesome! The chemistry was through the roof. They definitely captured how siblings behave with each other.
I felt them recording together added to their friendship and how it translated on screen. Can't wait for the sequel ❤😊
The "No Diggity" sequence is one of the coolest montages in a kid's movie to feature a song about sex.
I also liked that each turtle took lead on a different hideout

This was such a great movie the voices for the turtles were fantastic and the teens actors did a great job

The soundtrack was the only thing good about this film, other than that it was utter trash
