Scanlan's "Are you standing up for me?" when Vex refused to hide him from the racist dockmistress was so good. I loved all the Vex & Scanlan moments we've been getting recently.
After Scanlan returned, Vex is trying her best to be the best friend to him in every possible way, even among friends like asking Grog to put him down saying Scanlan doesn't like being handled. It was a great character development for her.
Laura quietly asking Matt if he wants food because he didn't get any at 42:00 is just the sweetest thing. One of my favorite things about this show is their real-life friendships
For real. I often used to wonder if the in-game romances caused any friction between the IRL partners but it doesn't really seem to so I guess they've been close friends for a long time.
@@TrashDeviant Neither of the 2 in-game romances feel believable to me at all and they're also not acted out physically. If anything, the sibling relationship between Vax and Vex feels very real and sometimes leads to some hugging and other physical acting that could potentially make Travis jealous (but he understands that it's just a game and also is too confident for petty jealousy, it seems).
TrashDeviant I’d say that they are all trained actors that have regularly acted out romance and probably physical romance in some form or another and it’s part of the performance. Even that aside, the game aspect is also a reason as others mentioned.
saw this and my brain went straight to, if im ever in a coma and matthew mercer isnt there asking whomever it is that has to unplug me "how do you want to do this?" what was life even worth?..... thank you lol
Nah man, he has to be in the operating room during my life-saving surgery, pestering the surgeons by asking, "What do you bring to this ritual?" And telling them, "Make a roll with disadvantage."
41:20 Laura/Vex mentions Vecna watching them. At the same time you see that evil, smirky, smile of a DM Matt gets as he quietly rolls behind his screen. Guess what happens when you say his name!
Generally that is how gods work in D&D. They aren't omniscient. Their senses can detect within a certain radius of any place that is holy or otherwise connected to their domains, anywhere near their followers and any person or place where their name or titles have been spoken within a certain number of hours that increases with how powerful they are. At least that's what's been said in previous editions
I really appreciate that even with the end of the world looming and the clock ticking, the team has enough time to fill out the maritime legal paperwork necessary to get back their deposit on their tugboat rental.
28:07 Keyleth's inspiring interpretive dance with accompaniment by the rest of VM AND Matt was one of the coolest things they've done. I love how, right away, Sam and Liam provided Marisha with some beats, then others joined in. (It took me a while to figure out that Travis was providing the higher-pitched vocalizations!) Then Laura, watching Marisha's descriptive dance evolve, knew when to provide the emphatic poundings, which ended the dance. What an amazing, spontaneous, joyous collaboration!
I know, Matt with the bass and Travis with the tenor was pretty surprising. Though we've of course heard Matt do amazing bassy voiced characters and Travis's laugh always shoots up a few octaves lol
@@friendlyredneckneighbor4326 he actually did. After everything went to shit with scanlan and everything he said to him vax realy show a lot of character growth and you can even see it on how he treated tarry or how he wellcomed scanlan back. I realy liked that.
@@friendlyredneckneighbor4326 He really did learn that lesson after the Briarwoods nearly killed him. Saving Cassandra was the last time he left the party behind and entered combat solo. And there was acknowledgement about that in that moment.
Using this. Might even add a roll to be randomly decided at the DM's discretion on whether or not they come back. That'd make for an interesting side bit 😁
I liked this episode quite a lot! The random eating, the funny out of character shenanigans, and just the general tone of the adventure felt like a "classic" episode pulled out of the early Kraghammer/Underdark story arc.
yeah, this is my first time watching any critical role, and the last 6 or 7 episodes have been a little difficult to watch. i’m sure it’s partially due to just burnout after such a long binge, and also my own desire for this series to not end- but also everything feels so different now compared to the first 75 or so episodes. this has been a nice return to form.
@@Jackie_Tikki_Tavi I am a bit late to the talk but: I kind of liked the early episodes, where they were just some people sitting on a table playing DnD, getting their food in the middle of the episode and eating some pizza in the middle of a fight :)
because she seemingly took every opportunity to be a dick to others? all the 'moral' lectures and hypocrisy, all the rambling speeches followed by disdain for others speeches, the totally unjustified character anger, etc. i agree it goes to far, and she got much better towards the end of the series, just pointing out the reasons for you.
Yea been playing a Beastmaster for over a year and the PHB companion features are useless except for flavor. Multiclassed into fighter after level 9 and my DM is also letting me add some UA revised Beastmaster features and let me have a warg to make it actually useful. I don't even want the extra spells cuz my Wisdom is too low to have a legit attack bonus and save dc. Still love my Goliath Beastmaster tho
Well, like Laura was trying to use it in that order against a single target, it is comparatively weak. But if cast at 4th level (I wouldn't burn a precious 5th slot), it will potentially do 5d8 to the prime target, and 3d8 to every creature within 10 feet of it. Against a cluster of enemies it can shine. So as a bonus action I would cast at the end of my turn after my first 2 attacks. It doesn't activate until I fire a ranged shot. So my following turn my next attack, zap, then bonus action Hunter's Mark, followed by another attack of my choice. It could use some love, though, as a Ranger spell.
@@Gladedancer Alternatively, multiclass into Tempest Cleric mans use your channel divinity(?) to max out the lightning damage instead of rolling. Both classes utilize wisdom, Tempest is more of a fighting cleric than a healer, so I think they mesh pretty well.
I'm DMing my first campaign now and one of my newer players REALLY wanted to play Beastmaster, knowing that it's overall one of the weakest if not the weakest class, so I kinda reworked their companion. It's a young foal, that got trapped in the Nine Hells for a short time and got corrupted, basically giving it features of a Nightmare, so it's stronger, sturdier and more intelligent than normal horses, and will grow with the character, gaining more and more Nightmare features (Confer Fire Resistance, Fire Damage on Hooves, Flying Speed, Ethereal Plane Walk) and some bonus stats. Really hope this doesn't end up OP, but I have some metagamers in the party, so I felt like it was an appropriate way to balance the strengths.
Someone was practicing with their trebuchet, and didn't notice their crappy boat! If The Mercer was serious, he'd make it happen! I think he's threatened them with the rocks falling thing more than once...
actually falling Boulders (or rocks) is kind of a running joke among DM's, almost meme status. Party doing too well- falling rocks, party being mean- falling rocks, party being annoying- falling rocks, party forgot to bring the snack- falling rocks
Them constantly saying Vecna makes me wonder if Mercer uses the old rules on dieties which say they can hear anything for a certain amount of time and radius around a place someone says their name. (radius and time depend on the type of diety)
@@davidbeppler3032 I was thinking the same thing a few episodes ago. When Vax was disintegrated by Vecna, the spell is represented as "green light" . Avada Kedavra! Lol. Not sure if the guide says green is specifically for it or if it's a Mercer thing. Also, I've thought this about the way GrrMartin writes thrones. The way that characters with the thickest plot armour can die a chapter later on a whim almost seems like a d20 roll. The Red Wedding would have been a natural 1 on perception. Just a thought.
@@robertabugelis3962 Yep or the red wedding was a nat 20 on deception. Either way that was obviously a random roll that should not have happened. Bad GM'ing. :)
I've noticed across both campaigns that in game Laura is often the first person to correct anyone using derogatory slang for a race, or using the wrong pronouns or referring to someone as something other than their preferred name. It's really lovely.
@@CallistoTheWarriorQueen this is completely unrelated, but when people were intentionally using Lionel's old name -- I can't remember the name of the guest, I feel so bad, but he was adorable! -- it got me so tilted lol so it warmed my heart whenever someone tried correcting the others. @@sethescope I have a trans child myself so it always makes me happy when I see people actively and nicely correcting others and themselves when it comes to pronouns and names. I don't know if you've seen Campaign 2 but I love the inclusion of some great gender neutral and trans characters.

When you realise that Scanlin can Permanently turn grog into a planitar just by concentrating on it for an hour. A plantar. You know ... those angel that protect Pelor. That are immune to fear, can fly, to a shit ton of damage, can speak all languages. Can speak with their mind. And are supper smart and all? He can Permanently make Grog into that
Honestly, this is the biggest difference to me from completing campaign 2 before coming to this one. Travis is such an amazing strategist that I feel like Grog's intelligence really does limit him. Playing a charismatic strategist in the next campaign was such a smart choice because he plays it well.
laura's concerned and soft voice when she asked if matt if he wanted to eat something too was the cutest thing ever. also very cute considering the contrast to her vex voice
This comment, lol. My all-time favorite Pike-Grog moment is when they were deciding what equipment to give out, and Pike mentioned she wanted the Gauntlets of Ogre Strength (+6 Str). As Travis hands them to her, he says, "You wanna be a monstah, don't you?" Ashley looks up and responds with, "Aaah! I wanna be a monstah!" I ❤ those Gr-ike moments...

You know, having one caster with Shapechange and another with True Polymorph really adds a cool new dynamic & perspective for solving puzzles into the game. Yes, one person could do this, but so could someone else, & while one person can cast it on others, the other can change their form any time for the duration. It makes things really interesting in my eyes.
True polymorph could lose Permanently transform someone if he caster keeps consecrate for the duration of the spell Edit:(But it can be dispelled and the target reverts to its original form if it reaches Zero hit points)
No, he burnt it during the Slayers take quests I believe. Unless that was in the acid that he lost the carpet in. I just recall that he lost the foot and it took forever to fully regenerate it.

Marisha doing the interpretive dance because her voice was shot was pretty cute, but Liam immediately bringing up that ahe shouted through it was priceless 👌🏻
Ok, marisha's performance for an emotional scene with Liam at the beginning was absolutely the best so far. Going from "RAAAHHH" to something like "yes, I was angry, but I understand" and "I'm not asking" was genuinely surprising from her. Still love it
Unlike Liam, Taliesin has the advantage of having survived years and years of Burning Man with her, so he's probably developed more of a self-preservation dodging reflex. XD
Well i Matt's defense he has been letting her do like 6 bonus actions per round in the first round. Summon trinket, hunters mark, hail of thorns, actively using the bramble show or blazing bow string, lightning arrows, taking flight with her broom, using those boots of haste etc. She really had very little grasp on action economy for a ranger in DnD. They aren't that bad if you stop worrying about seeing big numbers every shot. You are a utility player not ment to tank not ment to do a lot of damage every arrow.
But in her sevens none of them knew what they were doing. They're coming back from pathfinder and still do things all over the place. Liam clicked his boots, hunters marked, moved and threw daggers. Boot bonus action, as is hunters mark. Matt even does stuff sometime with his super bosses where the resist things they shouldn't one turn them the next time they don't. Or, canceling heros feast which is not capable of being done etc. And it's all fun we just enjoy the game. That being said campaign 2 he was vicious about action economy and what things can and can't do. He just needed some time.
your views on Ranger are wrong. Several options now for a ranger that can be your party’s primary damage dealer, even when you commented 9 months ago. Tier one damage dealer subclass options
2:21:50 - can we just appreciate matt's voice acting skills here? the way he creates life into these creatures by making incredible sounds for it - and far from easy ones to do, that's for sure!
Also, please for the love of god make the audio of the show and the adverts the same level. Its absolutely horrific when they cut to a break and then you're suddenly met with a 4x the volume "HI I PLAY SAM IN GAME OF THRONES"
I decided to let the video play while I went to feed dag, go to bathroom, etc and felt the walls shake after the first ad came on, then ran all the way back to make sure I didn’t knock anything off my neighbor’s walls
I listen to Critical Role to help me sleep sometimes because I'm a terrible insomniac. The loud ads sometimes startle me as I'm about to drift off. Moment of panic, then I gotta do the drifting off thing all over again. But, its better than falling asleep to Emkay Reddit stories and waking up to robot voice frustrated and annoyed. So, I just roll with the punches. Better to wake up twice than 50 times.
@Danny Dolan Well, also, maybe its just me, but I don't like the G&S feel. I used to watch a lot of the TableTop with Wil Wheaton and all the jokes are just so corny and meaningless and the way everything is shot feels so inauthentic, like a reality TV show that doesn't have any drama. All the G&S shows could be half-the budget and twice as funny if they got talented people and didn't try to make everything so clean and bright.
Dear the cast of critical role. I love the show. I always have. you guys do an amazing job. I'll be sad when the campaign comes to an end. love you guys 💗
To be fair to Ashley, she's only played in about 1/3 of the games the others have at this point, so shes not really all that familiar with the full scope of the cleric spell list.
i just played For Honor for the first time, and immediately knew Liam's voice when I heard the Warden. immersion destroyed. curse you critical role, you beautiful double edged sword.
lmao this is how I felt when I was playing wow because the voice actor for...... I'm too lazy to Google his name, he's Lorethemar or something? it's the same actor who plays fenris in the dragon age games lol
The VA rabbit hole goes deep. Remember when Shin-chan killed Ryu Hayabusa, in front of Gwen Tennyson, to get revenge on Revolver Ocelot for murdering Trunk's father, who was about to perform a fatal brain biopsy on Terra from Teen Titans, to create a vaccine for a world ending plague, so Gretchen Grundler hunts down Keiko Yukimura and murders her friends one at a time, before finally finding Lady Comstock held captive by mauraders, and then Chrissy Seaver almost drowns Jaina Proudmoore, before deciding to let her go?
Could be. Could be ressurection. Could be a godly pact. She could have a simulacrum as well (she had both eyes, so, maybe?). She could be a Lich. Etc. Many, many ways to do it. The only real problem is paying for such methods, but demigods/gods can do such things somewhat easily.
Shepherd174 Yes, but this has been mentioned before in the last few episodes (I think by Laura,) that none of the characters know Grog has been cursed and neither does Grog. It may be a permanent thing unless a God happened to notice the curse and be kind enough to cure him.
Kanan Hood the dancing sword was the one that gave him the curse. The sword was cursed and disintegrated in his hand. Then he got the curse right afterward. It happened the episode after he drew it, apparently as an afterthought, because Matt made a mistake of some kind.
Synopsis at 10:28 game begins at 12:59. Break at 1:57:47 lasting until 2:19:55. Game ends at 3:49:30. [I've been doing this for every episode. If you find them useful, or think others might, please comment so they stay near the top where people can find them. Thank you.]
I can see Keyleth looking young as ever visitng Percy in his 70's/80's. Keeping her composure as they walk about Whitestone's gardens as Percy must now rely on a cane to keep himself upright to an extent. Some years down the road, Keyleth visits the now widowed Vexahlia as they both pay respects to Vaxildan's grave, sharing in each other's lament, but still happy to see one another and living on. D&D has inner aspects that are invisible to the naked eye. A campaign should be seen as tv series with 3-dimensional characters. There are moments that don't make sense but it's a part of either the plot's, or character's development. D&D allows people to enter into a dramatic world with a compelling storyline, and personify a character that they may or may not be. This became another rant that I can go on about so I'll end it here; Last episode had everyone SHITTING on Keyleth. SHITTING. I can understand an audience hating characters from GOT or TWD, but that was pure malice and imo completely unacceptable.
The sadder parts of Keyleth's life come later also... She will outlive Grog first. He's older than Percy I believe, and his harsh life will wear on him. Percy will be next, followed a century later by Vex. Their child will grow old and die and Keyleth will still look the same. Several centuries later, Pike and Scanlan will eventually reach the end of their natural lives and still Keyleth will remain unchanged except for maybe the beginnings of silver in her hair or faint wrinkles. It won't be until Scanlan and Pike's children are very, very old (if they have any and possibly with grandchildren out and about) that Keyleth will finally pass away after seeing her entire "found family" die off one by one.
People are awful. Marisha is a human being with feelings. I didn't like Key'leth in the beginning but she grew on me. Beau is a totally different character personality. Less anxious and more angst. I dig it. People need to just not be assholes over a character. It is a game and a work of fiction. There's no need for toxic BS.
@@TrashDeviant Yeah. Being a druid, Keylith really grew on me too. Honestly people look at the character and the player as one in the same. Multiple times irl they say "I would have done this but (character) wouldnt. They are their own person". Which is weird to think about. They are playing their own character they can do whatever they want. They are honest to goodness trying to stay in character. So good on Marisha for sticking to her character.
People don't realise that she's acting in character. When she makes decisions in anything, she does them as Keyleth, not Marisha. It's PAINFUL to see Marisha get so much hate when she's just playing a character.
Completely agree with you guys. Marisha is such an amazing human being. She doesn’t deserve all this shit just because her character (who she plays marvellously) is a little awkward.
Matt’s expression when Marisha is talking about Lady Briarwood bearing Vecna’s blessing is a look any DM will recognize from when one of your players says something genius.
Dude... Dude!... It took 107 episodes but they made it to this point, where everyone collectively is making up rhythm and beat to Keyleth's interpretive dance! Amazing!
Finally that conversation between Keyleth and Vax that was needing to happen. People may complain but that shit rlly needed to happen or else Keyleth was just going to remain angry and bitter about the whole situation. They rlly needed to discuss it
@@BrentDnD Oh my God, I wish I could like your comment 100 times. Vax was my absolute favorite about 50 episodes ago. I totally hate him now because every fucking episode Liam HAS to spend so much time doing these horrible talkings to his sister, Keyleth, Percy, Scanlan... I love a good drama, a good romance, as much as I love action, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
Hey, it's a role playing game, not a hack'n'slash. Conversations are essential, although they take time, they make characters' personalities deeper - it basically is what makes them different to just a character you play on your pc/playstation; personally, I love thie role play, but I get it, it depends on what you expect from a game I guess
@@dawiddulian2403 it's not a hack&slash and roleplay is equally as important as flashy fights. But Liam massively overdoes it. He's boring, he's one-dimensional, he brings the show to a screeching halt every time he has one of his obnoxious talks. And it's always the same generic, edgy shit. From his lines, you couldn't even tell if he's talking to his sister, his girlfriend, Scanlan, a god, his father, because it's always the same copy/pasted soap opera stuff. At this point, it's a hard skip every time he goes into one of his moments. And it could have been much more than this, because THIS is the really tragic stuff. He's on a timer and he knows it in advance. But when you've been serving the same one-dimensional piece, multiple times per episode, for the last sixty episodes, well, we've already seen it. Just die already and be done with this garbage.
Vax, as a character, truly died when he became the chosen of the Raven Queen. He went from the kindest, most considerate member of VM to brooding and edgy. The old Vax still gleams through a little from time to time, like when he followed Grog around after Scanlan left, and when he gave the Ring of Invisibility away freely, but for the most part... I miss him.
I get the feeling that the reason for the ending of the birthday song was because the original Goliath bard who sung it was stabbed (with an axe)... which later resulted in the song slowly becoming a cult hit with the tribe.

October 2021, With Campaign 3 just on the horizon and having already watched all of C2, I’m just excited to see this amazing group of people come back to share their stories collectively. Started watching midway through 2020 and it really has been one of the most communal experiences I’ve ever had, between the cosplayers, artists, and musicians. So thankful for Critical Role!!!
@@Jessiphia It wasn't an insult, Korra started off as a spoiled princess, and then got better as the story progressed. But if you insist on my words up there being an insult, then... Not being able to recognize a character's flaws past or present, is a flaw shown by fanboys of all ages. I'm really sorry for you if you suffer from that deadly disease.
Matt is very descriptive, but there still aren't a great many moments that I can absolutely see with my mind's eye. Vox Machina setting foot on the bottom of the ocean, silhouetted by gloom and smoke, with only the beam of Percy's flashlight to illuminate anything, even then only providing faint light among all of the darkness, I could *see* that, and what a fantastic visual it was.
Relistening to the podcast today (April 1 2020) and came across the interpretative dance, had to watch it in its glory. Absolutely incredible improve by everyone.
I like how happy Matt sounded/looked when the players moved their own pieces. That moment you discover you can let others do your job and see them feel proud of it? Yeah. It is a good feeling. And special mention to Scanlan, murderer of babies.
38:17 “that’s why he would be a rogue barbarian!” I love that they apparently have had conversations about what dnd classes the characters in Hamilton would be (totally haven’t done that with all my favourite characters, nope, never)
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the cast making up the song on the spot for the interpretive Dance?
It was fantastic
That was really great honestly
tbh I we need the audio from it lol
MATTS BASS THOUGH
easily one of keyleth´s greatest moments
"Can i quietly go into a rage?"
"You are not my parents"
New Barbarian subclass
Barbarian path of the passive agression.
That's literally Gorgug from Dimension 20. Half-Orc barbarian quiet kid in school who's adopted by Gnomes and is just trying to find his dad
@@hawkmore Nooo Gorgug is emotional constipation and lack of understanding how to channel his feelings. Gorgug loves his parents and they love him ;-;
Path of Adoption
Made a noble dex barbarian who's rage emotion was distain and annoyance.
@@TrashDeviant there's a sense of understanding among them that it IS just a game and it's all for the fun of it
@@TrashDeviant Neither of the 2 in-game romances feel believable to me at all and they're also not acted out physically. If anything, the sibling relationship between Vax and Vex feels very real and sometimes leads to some hugging and other physical acting that could potentially make Travis jealous (but he understands that it's just a game and also is too confident for petty jealousy, it seems).
@@Nr4747 Also the fact he encouraged Perc'ahlia. He's just a huge nerd for the characters and relationships and I love it.
TrashDeviant I’d say that they are all trained actors that have regularly acted out romance and probably physical romance in some form or another and it’s part of the performance. Even that aside, the game aspect is also a reason as others mentioned.
Sam: Do I have blind sight?
Matt: You have sight everything.
Sam: it says languages all.
Matt: 'Screams internally'
man the dance, and the fact marisha got so into it she forgot the point was to spare her voice and still did a full narration with sounds effects XD
Man, you can tell Marisha isn't feeling her best. She's wearing sleeves
36:50 When Sam says "Mr and Mrs De Rolo", Taliesin's face a few seconds later when it sinks in is PRICELESS
He responded "Let's be honest, it's Mr. & Mrs. Vex really" 🥰🥰🥰
the food hovering near his mouth while he processes 😂🥰
Yeah it was the food hover that killed me lol
1:36:03 -
Sam: you gonna punch a volcano?
Travis: I wasn't sold on it until you phrased it that way.
🤣
Me, catching up in 2023: "OK! Home stretch! No more distractions let's do this!"
Me, minutes later: *replays the interpretive dance fifteen times*
I was not prepared for how great that was
I legit had to zoom in on each person to break down who was contributing what to the song. That was improv magic.
Rewatching random silly scenes has added so much time to this campaign for me 😅
I have shared that clip. And I'm not even done with the episode.
I'm trying to make my way through too. I gotta know, how far are you? Caught up? Campaign 3? Or still on the second bc/ it's hella long?
If Matthew Mercer isn’t beside me saying “She was looking pretty rough.” On my deathbed, what was life worth?
saw this and my brain went straight to, if im ever in a coma and matthew mercer isnt there asking whomever it is that has to unplug me "how do you want to do this?" what was life even worth?..... thank you lol
Nah man, he has to be in the operating room during my life-saving surgery, pestering the surgeons by asking, "What do you bring to this ritual?" And telling them, "Make a roll with disadvantage."
This is one of my favorite critical role comment threads. 😂
Took me so long to figure out that TRAVIS was the one doing the high notes during the interpretive dance he continues to be my fave
41:20 Laura/Vex mentions Vecna watching them. At the same time you see that evil, smirky, smile of a DM Matt gets as he quietly rolls behind his screen. Guess what happens when you say his name!
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
this is what actually happens, god of secrets you know
Holy shit that makes so much sense! You solved the riddle
Oh shiiiit kinda spoiler but I‘m so glad I know, I was so freaking mad at this OP mathafakaaa
Though we've of course heard Matt do amazing bassy voiced characters and Travis's laugh always shoots up a few octaves lol
says a lot about their complicity
my favorite genre of music
Definitely a major highlight of the episode and the arc, I love everything about it.
What about some respect for Taliesin and his kind of Ugga-Chaka type chanting that was brilliant

He really did learn that lesson after the Briarwoods nearly killed him.
Saving Cassandra was the last time he left the party behind and entered combat solo.
And there was acknowledgement about that in that moment.
It is now canon in my campaign that anyone who rolls above a 35 stealth briefly enters the shadowfell as they sneak.
DC30 *is* considered an impossible task (for anything barring Gods of course)...
@@DannyMakesVideosIGuess And Liam's rolled a 45 stealth check in an earlier episode. Natural 20 with his bonus.
@@RookiesRules Man entered the Astral Plane.
Daniel Babineau also Vax burned his foot
TheBebop yeah but i have a feeling they mean more in terms of those who enjoy rp more than intense combat
I agree, it did have that kind of feel to it!
yeah, this is my first time watching any critical role, and the last 6 or 7 episodes have been a little difficult to watch. i’m sure it’s partially due to just burnout after such a long binge, and also my own desire for this series to not end- but also everything feels so different now compared to the first 75 or so episodes. this has been a nice return to form.
It's nice to see them comfortably eating on set after so long. The return of Chomps Machina.
Charlotte Roy Chomps Munchina I think you mean? lol
Remember when they used to eat fried chicken? I would order fried chicken and eat along. I still do sometimes while re-watching VM.
@@andynougat5202 i guess it's because of the lastest Talks Machina session in which they said they kind of miss it.
@@Jackie_Tikki_Tavi I am a bit late to the talk but: I kind of liked the early episodes, where they were just some people sitting on a table playing DnD, getting their food in the middle of the episode and eating some pizza in the middle of a fight :)

“I’m just gonna hit with a regular arrow that does more than a lightning arrow from now on.”
Yeah..welcome to the ranger class...
So true. I’m playing a Beastmaster Ranger, and after level 5 I just multiclassed into Inquisitive Rogue because it’s just so much better.
Oh my god. The use of the jug. TIBERIUS’S BOTTLE OF AIR!!! IT WORKS!!!
Matt, gotta say I've never heard a DM threaten a rocks fall everybody dies while the party is in a boat, on the sea ahaha
Meteor showers......a Tal'Dorei pirates worst nightmare!.
Someone was practicing with their trebuchet, and didn't notice their crappy boat! If The Mercer was serious, he'd make it happen! I think he's threatened them with the rocks falling thing more than once...
he was refering to Roc's (the creatures)
actually falling Boulders (or rocks) is kind of a running joke among DM's, almost meme status.

Glad I was not the only person to notice this. Wonder if J. K. Rowling was a D&D nerd too?
/gasp
he really is moldy voldy
Bad GM'ing. :)
Matt makes a very discrete roll at 41:18 just as they say Vecna.
Vex standing up for scanlan against gnome-racism was the cutest moment
Vex has really come a long way in terms of character growth. She used to be such an unlikable asshole.
I'm trans, so that sort of thing gets me all worked up, even though Lionel isn't trans (except now he is in my head canon), but it was still shitty lol so I appreciated everyone who tried correcting the others, but everyone did it at some point and I think most everyone did the correcting at other points lol
@@sethescope I have a trans child myself so it always makes me happy when I see people actively and nicely correcting others and themselves when it comes to pronouns and names. I don't know if you've seen Campaign 2 but I love the inclusion of some great gender neutral and trans characters.
@@sethescopeI was the same with Lionel and also when they purposely used wrong pronouns for Raishan as a weird power move or something :( I know they didn't think it that deeply and it was six years ago but it left a bad taste in my mouth

True polymorph could lose Permanently transform someone if he caster keeps consecrate for the duration of the spell
Edit:(But it can be dispelled and the target reverts to its original form if it reaches Zero hit points)
Did vax burn his foot again exactly 100 episodes later?
No, he burnt it during the Slayers take quests I believe. Unless that was in the acid that he lost the carpet in. I just recall that he lost the foot and it took forever to fully regenerate it.
@@Wookie_oo7 I'm pretty sure it was in the underdark
@@georgecheatham2692 I apologise you are correct, episode 7. I don't recall the lava happening and only the time he landed in acid and tried to save the magic carpet.

Oh my god, i didnt realize until i read this comment that this happened exactly 100 episodes later.
The look on Grog's face when Matt mentioned Santy was a Goliath. Pure unbridled joy
28:06 I’ve officially found my favorite part of Critical Role. I didn’t know I wanted an interpretive dance so badly until it happened.
Marisha doing the interpretive dance because her voice was shot was pretty cute, but Liam immediately bringing up that ahe shouted through it was priceless 👌🏻
(enthusiastic a cappella music) is my new favorite caption.
(Unnervingly realistic crow noises) is pretty damn good too. 😂
@@bmwelker that's such an iconic one lmao the people who did these captions are doing the lord's work and are extremely fucking hilarious people
I just love that the planetars scoffed at Scanlan and now he's wearing their form and is a mockery of what they are lmao.
Let's cast water breathing and make water in our endless magic jug and stick our heads in it so we can breathe!
I love D&D.
uiuu
Don't knock it if it works. I love how it was Grog's ingenuity that came up with it.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS people! Creative solutions.
The alchemy jug isn't like a barrel or open container though, it's something you uncork... Just how big is this cork??
The problem with this is that water, like air, only contains a certain amount of oxygen. 21 percent oxygen in air, 1 percent in water.
Ok, marisha's performance for an emotional scene with Liam at the beginning was absolutely the best so far. Going from "RAAAHHH" to something like "yes, I was angry, but I understand" and "I'm not asking" was genuinely surprising from her.
Still love it
Watching all of Marisha's interpretive dance making sure she didn't elbow Talisan in the face. I was so worried for him. 😂😂
Unlike Liam, Taliesin has the advantage of having survived years and years of Burning Man with her, so he's probably developed more of a self-preservation dodging reflex. XD
The ranger's plight of 5E is constantly highlighted by Laura Bailey's mild exasperation with the mechanics of her character.
MaskofFayt, BACK BLAZE!!!!!!
@@TrashDeviant I did this until I realised marishas laugh always woke me up. 🤨😂
That was a TENSE minute waiting for someone to remember that you can CARRY WATER WITH YOU. Thank god for travis 😭
"Vecna's watching now..." Everybody flips him off.

What is ironic is that both parts of that are entirely true.

He also just really low key threw shade at Ashley who could have taken this spell at any time for AAAAAAAAAAGES now and just didn't.
They constantly were talking about how it sucked no one had it and pikes a cleric poor ashley
To be fair to Ashley, she's only played in about 1/3 of the games the others have at this point, so shes not really all that familiar with the full scope of the cleric spell list.

I love Grog's genius moments, even though his ideas are as basic as sticking your head in a jug of water, nobody else thinks on his level
Who is the best character of Vox Machina and why is it Grog?

Lich
Could be. Could be ressurection. Could be a godly pact. She could have a simulacrum as well (she had both eyes, so, maybe?). She could be a Lich. Etc. Many, many ways to do it. The only real problem is paying for such methods, but demigods/gods can do such things somewhat easily.
1:16:50 just that very human moment of Matt "please don't" so defeated XD
Can I just point out the fact that Grog could have fixed the Euryale card penalty on 3 separate occasions now.
Shepherd174 Yes, but this has been mentioned before in the last few episodes (I think by Laura,) that none of the characters know Grog has been cursed and neither does Grog. It may be a permanent thing unless a God happened to notice the curse and be kind enough to cure him.
You know what that makes perfect sense actually
I'm sad he couldn't have gotten to see Kord. I'll bet he would've helped him. Whether to help him be more valorous in battle or whatever.
Kanan Hood
First time he pulled a card from Deck/Things.
Kanan Hood the dancing sword was the one that gave him the curse. The sword was cursed and disintegrated in his hand. Then he got the curse right afterward. It happened the episode after he drew it, apparently as an afterthought, because Matt made a mistake of some kind.

Lol yes. Exactly this. Is there a time stamp you can post?

Liam: "If I said it, it's real!"
Matt: "You're confusing role play game with improvisation. Let me show you the difference."
I rolled my eyes and skipped right past that.
I miss him.
3:06:02 Sam breaks the campaign with one spell again :D that is why I love you :D
