My .02 on why I think the movies are down is because they've continuously put out mediocre original movies, shameless cashgrab remakes, and sequels to established stories that lack any sort of respect for the source material. Hollywood treats people like they *have* to go see the movies they put out, and in my opinion, they're getting what they deserve 🤷🏿♂️
I the part of it is advertising too; I was very much so looking forward to the latest planet of the apes only to realize it’s been out for over a month while editing this video lol -Mika
@calebhammeryourweekinmoney that's true too. Advertising seems less and less prevalent, the only movie I can remember being promoted in the past month is wolverine and deadpool
It certainly doesn't help that streaming services and big TV's got thrown at us in the last couple of years. Folks are already paying half a dozen of subscriptions, one of them is bound to have the newest blockbuster shortly after it leaves cinemas.
I'm getting really frustrated with these companies trying to implement AI into their software. I've gotten so many notifications of companies changing their terms of service on privacy and data using vague language like trying to fool me into agreeing to use my data to train their AI system. Normally I get excited about the latest technology but this is getting out of hand and I'm not looking forward to the future if this is where we are headed. I DO NOT CONSENT to using my voice/likeness/data in your AI products. On the movie thing, as someone who also works in the entertainment industry. I can tell you everyone is fed up with Hollywood. The big execs are trying to use AI to replace us, still pay us in peanuts, and keep throwing in mediocre projects and reboots without any marketing to advertise the project. While, also scrapping finished projects before putting it on the big screen. Then being like, this project flopped because we didn't get the views/make enough money in the box office and blaming the consumer for their problems.
Movies are down because, despite how much theatres will bitch and moan about how much streaming is killing them, a movie still costs 15 to 20 dollars to see, a popcorn still costs 10 to 15 dollars to consume and a bottle of water still costs 5 to 10 dollars to drink.
Thinking the exact same thing. And not to mention those concession stand snacks are smaller than ever. Might as well save my $50+ and wait a matter of weeks to watch at home since I'm already paying for too many streaming networks.
@@CHILLknowsfootball personally I wouldn't be interested at all, except maybe for the Stanley cup playoffs. Securing the broadcast rights would be expensive though, I can see the appeal and a local theater near me does similar things from time to time. Not sure how much revenue it brings in but the costs to attend are the same.
There is a German term "Abofalle" that means subscription trap. It refers to a more scummy way of trying to get people signed up to a subscription without their knowledge. It was used mostly in the 2000s when people unwittingly signed up for a subscription that they then couldn't cancel for 12 months or so. But these days with legit companies and often very fair cancellation terms, the subscription trap is that people think they are being treated fairly when signing up. But most of the time a subscription is more lucrative for a business if it can sell its product that way. Adobe tacks on a few things with its subscription that pose as value adds but I'd say they are nothing more than a thin veil to make it seem like the user is getting value out of subscribing. And I think most people get that which is why most people hate Adobe as a company. And that ultimately leads to why we will all interpret these new ToS changes in the worst possible way. Any blog post is meaningless because they can always change their mind later and delete that entry. It happens all the time. The only legally binding thing here are the ToS and they don't exclude AI training. And no matter what the official company stance is, there can always be a rogue employee that looks through files under NDA, causing irreparable damage. The only way to keep this from happening is to make it impossible to access such files, not just illegal. But Adobe is clearly stating that they won't even do that. They will look through your stuff.
Movie theaters have gotten so expensive. And almost every time I do go people are talking, on their phones or other distractions. I would much rather pay the movie ticket price to just watch it at home while it’s in theaters or just not watch at all.
@calebhammer You may not want to but it works very well. My husband is a professional video editor. He was forced to switch to DaVinci and now it's his preference. He didn't have a choice at first but he genuinely loves it.
@@kaylarosebates9966 Same here. Took a _little_ time to adjust, but it's actually better. And free, or at least a one-time, very reasonable purchase if the Studio version is needed.
Millenials have kids now, why get a baby sitter for a movie you can see streaming in a few weeks when you'll spend that money on streaming services already. Plus shit is expensive.
Most recent movies have an underlying political theme and I think that is the biggest reason people don't go to the movies much. Myself included! I want to take a few hours to escape reality, not have reality in my entertainment!
Avatar The Way of Water literally is a series about humans going to another planet and ruining it. Yet they make billions. All movies have some kind of underlying theme.
Movie theaters are teetering on (or, arguably, past the point of) obsolescence. When the average home has a big flat screen, surround sound, etc., movie theater experiences become less and less important, especially when you can watch something like 2 months after release on any given subscription service.

Read the new terms for Adobe. Its WAY worse than just moderation. If it was just for moderation, then it wouldn't be nearly as bad as the whole truth. Section 4.2 is labeled "Licenses To Your Content" 4.2 Licenses to Your Content. Solely for the purposes of operating or improving the Services and Software, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free sublicensable, license, to use, reproduce, publicly display, distribute, modify, create derivative works based on, publicly perform, and translate the Content. For example, we may sublicense our right to the Content to our service providers or to other users to allow the Services and Software to operate as intended, such as enabling you to share photos with others. They're basically wanting you to give them an unrestricted license to do whatever they want with your content. And the ability to sublicense your content to whoever they want as well. Allowing anyone they sublicense to to also have unlimited licensing to your content. They can try to sugar coat it as much as they want. All that matters is that they get you to legally agree to the terms, then you have no legal recourse in the future for whatever they do with your content. Some may say, "Oh, they're only gonna use it for the operation or improvement of the services and software." However, that's just legal speak that means they can literally do anything with your content as long as it benefits the company and/or software. For example: Displaying your intellectual properties, in their entirety and without your permission, to advertise what can be done with their software. Or using your work to drum up interest in their company and/or software, using your content in commercials and advertising, or even just to improve the morale of higher ups and employees by using your work as artwork in the office or giving out your content to employees to take home and keep. As long as they say, "We did it to improve their morale at work.", then it legally is "Improving" the company, services, and software. Since improving morale in the workplace improves employee's performance in the workplace as well. Legally, as long as your content is used in a way that even slightly benefits (aka: improves) the company, its services, and/or software then you can't do anything due to you agreeing to these new terms that give them unrestricted license to any content you make with their products. Its too easy to think they would just use your works solely for good reasons. However, the important thing is what your agreement 'legally' allows them to do with your intellectual properties in the future.

For me, most of the movies that have come out this year are just super stale and studios are being too reliant on sequels (which if I haven't watched the original movie, why would I go see the sequel?). Couple that with the overpriced movie theatre experience and it makes sense to me why revenue is down so much. Also an interesting economic factor, movie theatres have priced themselves into more of a luxury experience instead of the budget friendly summer activity and with a less than ideal economy people will default to watching movies at home for a fun movie night vs forking over money to have an overpriced "experience".
Movies are down because people are getting tired. The general quality of movies over the past few years has dipped into the, majority of them are either trash or self insert fan fiction films. I remember vividly seeing a story board in a behind the scenes interview for "rings of power" and diversity and fun were placed in a list of being more important than following the cannon or writing good characters.

People just don’t go to theaters anymore. Since the pandemic, I’ve only watched a handful of movies in the theaters. It’s too expensive to draw me away from my comfy Netflix
Just speaking to the film strikes.. my husband works in the film industry and our area saw almost zero filming in 2023. There has been some jobs this year but with his union now coming up to the end of the contract with no agreement signed yet productions are still not greenlighting until they know they wont get interrupted by another strike. There are just not a lot of things moving in the film industry (in the US)
Movies are one of the first simple luxuries to cut when times are tough. Not to mention the streaming services have been killing it with content lately. I personally can't wait to rejoin A-List but fixing finances come first.
It's almost inevitable at this point that most theater movies will eventually end up on a streaming service that most people already pay for (whether they can afford it or not lol). With as expensive as things have gotten, why pay to see it in the theater when I can watch it on my couch in a couple of months on a service I already pay for? That being said, I go see some movies in theaters for the experience. For example, I plan to go see Furiosa and A Quiet Place: Day One in theaters because I would appreciate it more there than from my couch. I don't have to see Inside Out 2 on a massive screen with surround sound lol
When it comes to the movies and what’s coming out for the rest of the year, this is probably the first year it seems like there will actually be a reason to go to the movies again. Inside out 2 in June, Deadpool 3 in July, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice coming out in September, Joker 2 coming out in October, and Moana 2 and Wicked coming out in November, I can’t wait to actually have a reason to go to the movies again
friendly reminder to frequently threaten to cancel your Adobe subscription so they’ll give you free months/discounts 👍🏻 (If this software wasn’t a tax deduction for me I’d cancel it immediately)
I've been traveling a lot for work lately, but to keep up with meals I've been ordering meal prep services many of them are 50% off the first box. So I order, then cancel and do a different one every week. I feel like I can keep this up for a WHILE because there's so many of them. Just a cheat code I thought I'd share. ❤
Regarding movies, its tiring how inauthentic it all is, between the AI generated content being slipped into movies, excessive usage of green screen and everyone's veneers/botox. The audience shouldn't have to work so hard to suspend disbelief for 2+ hours.
It's baffling that just mostly Americans pay premium pricing for Apple products that are all 4-5 yrs behind in technology 😂 The rest of the world just doesn't get it but finds it hilarious
More like 10 years or more. I've been able to put themes on my phone and change icons to where i want for literally 14 years. Apple calls it an innovation probly. 🤣🤦♂️
I’ve despised them since they switched to subscription model after I spent $6,000 on lifetime licenses for each office. Don’t they realize they are just Microsoft Word but for video?
Millennial here who never really enjoyed going to the movies. It's expensive, people are loud and inconsiderate, I can't pause the media to go to the bathroom, and let's be honest - how many people still have the attention span for a 2+ hour movie?
There's also a massive privacy issue here, because it gives adobe the right to Preempt your complaint about adobe because it scanned your files and knows that you are making a video about how bad there terms are. It's disgusting that Its ok for a company to Require that you Give up all of your constitutional rights to use there monopoly and still operate in the country that they clearly don't feel is in there best interests to defend. Who hasn't seen forced arbitration, Wich you are garranteed the right to in the constitution, Due process is integral also. Intellectual property was always intended to afford you the right to publicly disclose a products inner workings without fear of someone else copying it, including software and other things. It was also intended that if you have something that is so simple that if you disclose it it would be easily repllicatable. That's not patent worthy because its common knowllage, When we give away our rights at the barrel of a gun, That's not a willing trade, it just means you didn't have an option. Another thing there doing is using a human glitch to get you to Sign away your rights, There looking for Sexualization of children, wich is Horrific, but the vast majority of people know that, But if they say it that way, You give up all your rights to fight it. We all feel like that's the right thing to do if they say it that way, but if it was some other reason, It sounds more like, How dare you assume that's the default. Now adobe has the right to review your content in retaliation against other companies to, because there privy to the the content edited on there cloud, Ever heard of encryption. Why open yourself up to liabuillity of and for user content.
The Adobe thing, I really wanna know how that will work out since the Department of Defense and a few other governmental branches, even worldwide, use Adobe for many things.
The government has contracts with Adobe directly. Pretty sure there are limits on how they can change their terms of service under contract. That's a HUGE liability.
Lmao i remember when Caleb was looking for (video) editors particularly with experience in premiere. Guess now my options are DaVinci or Vegas. I'm open to other recommendations from any Spielbergs out there.
Movies are down because all the movies that have been coming out are old, tired, used and abused, or just straight up boring. Barely anything new and exciting coming out. Just endless sequels and terribly written new releases.
Buy software, don't rent it. They want to control you. This is how they will. Same with music, movies, anything that "they" want you to subscribe to. Buy and own physical media. Run your own servers.
"You'll own nothing and be happy." Turns out you will not even own your own work. If you're an artist and you're using Adobe, guess what, you don"t own your artwork - Adobe now does.
"Can now put your icons where ever you want on your screen" Apple calls that a revolution. Android is like, wtf 🤷♂️🤦♂️. We had that for the past 14 years 🤣
For the movie tickets it’s just not worth spending $25 and more on a single viewing of a movie isn’t worth it. And I can wait till it comes out streaming services with my own food cook to watch the movie is better
I have learned this years ago I wanted to cancel my membership 10 days in the yearly membership but they said they would charge me for half the years bill! For a digital item so I canceled that card
I think people are only willing to go to the movies when its an event, not just your average movie that I can watch more comfortably at my house and save $20.
Cut spending and still used to watching stuff at home like during the pandemic! Think a lot of the industry ended up shooting themselves in the foot pivoting to streaming during that time 💀 -Mika
I got tired of my conservative values being mocked over and over and over and over again at the movies not to mention the crap storylines designed by focus groups. I can angel invest in really good movies that have limited release but don’t SUCK!!
Well if they put out good movies we would probably see them. Bad Boys and Deadpool looks like the best of the year. The writing these days is terrible, everything is either a strong independent woman or the cast was hand picked to check DEI boxes. We want to be entertained, not preached on how to think.

Deadpool is gonna go crazy, let’s hope they don’t somehow fuck it up 💀 -Mika
Privacy matters
Not when it benefits the filthy rich!! -Mika
I used affinity and clip studio.
I would like to know if you can opt out the ai from Apple.
friendly reminder to frequently threaten to cancel your Adobe subscription so they’ll give you free months/discounts 👍🏻
(If this software wasn’t a tax deduction for me I’d cancel it immediately)
Summer just started but I only go to the movies if my son asks... I'd rather watch stuff at home
ooo thats smart 🤯 -Mika
@@calebhammeryourweekinmoney Just don't forget to cancel/skip. That'll bite you.
Regarding movies, its tiring how inauthentic it all is, between the AI generated content being slipped into movies, excessive usage of green screen and everyone's veneers/botox. The audience shouldn't have to work so hard to suspend disbelief for 2+ hours.
People don't care about going to movie theaters. Movie theaters are history and we're living it.
Preach it. -Mika
Shiiit! I don't even like leaving my house anymore.😕
Yet they won’t release the Epst*in client list. GTFOH
Oohhh Adobe....too far....too far. This is wild.
Omg you love Silo!!! I am obsessed!!!!
People taking out payday loans to buy groceries but they don’t understand why people don’t go to the theater 😂
hahah true -Mika
LETS GOOOOOO. Best news I’ve heard all 2024 is severance and silo new seasons coming!!! Thank you, Caleb!!
I found another one of the six AppleTV watchers 😲📸 -Mika
Severance S2 let’s GOOOOOO
It's baffling that just mostly Americans pay premium pricing for Apple products that are all 4-5 yrs behind in technology 😂 The rest of the world just doesn't get it but finds it hilarious
More like 10 years or more.
I've been able to put themes on my phone and change icons to where i want for literally 14 years.
Apple calls it an innovation probly. 🤣🤦♂️
Affinity. Easiest switch from Adobe.
So the Nvidia split is sorta what S&P 500 has going on right? Little new to the investing thing.
So paying for Adobe but being inactive means they can delete it. That's just crazy if that's what they mean.
Adobe is honestly doing too much -Mika
Encouraging more folks to hit the seven seas and I'm all for it.
Do they really?? I had no idea. Adobe’s in for a wild ride then 🤣 -Mika
Adobe Reader pretty I am sure. PDFs ugh.
The government has contracts with Adobe directly. Pretty sure there are limits on how they can change their terms of service under contract. That's a HUGE liability.
Yeah government media jobs list Adobe specifically under qualifications
What is the chance this will be used for political censorship?
Don't even own your data. Reality is stranger than fiction. The dystopia we are headed to is truly something else.
Wanting to get back into youtube/posting stuff and looking for a good editing software, any suggestions? Was going to go with Adobe stuffs...
It's tough honestly. I'll still use Adobe products personally but Davinci Resolve is a great alternative. -Mika
"Can now put your icons where ever you want on your screen"
Apple calls that a revolution.
I guess it's time to look for equivalent products by their competitors.
I bought A bunch of NVDA last year after Paul Pelosi made a huge buy out of nowhere. It’s up 200% 😳.
So apple is finally catching up to android
I have learned this years ago I wanted to cancel my membership 10 days in the yearly membership but they said they would charge me for half the years bill! For a digital item so I canceled that card
A good workaround is to downgrade your membership and then cancel the cheaper plan but I love just cutting them off entirely too lol -Mika
Photopea is looking better and better 😏
I had no idea movies were so down 😢 I go to the theater almost every weekend lmao (I can afford it)
Freedom of speech and right to privacy are increasingly becoming distant concepts. Its sad.
I think people are only willing to go to the movies when its an event, not just your average movie that I can watch more comfortably at my house and save $20.
Why are all the movies sequels like holy shit
Huge fan of BlueBeam here
Love how Caleb used that photo of Will Smith LOL
It's the best photo he deserves -Mika
YAAAAAAS SEVERANCE ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME
I think people are looking to cut spending still, and will wait for movies to stream
Movie ticket prices and the constant disappointing movies and sequels over the years are not helping.
Cut spending and still used to watching stuff at home like during the pandemic! Think a lot of the industry ended up shooting themselves in the foot pivoting to streaming during that time 💀 -Mika
Are Mac users okay? 😅
I got tired of my conservative values being mocked over and over and over and over again at the movies not to mention the crap storylines designed by focus groups. I can angel invest in really good movies that have limited release but don’t SUCK!!
Now someone else has the chance to compete with adobe.
Can someone else make a product as useful?
Adobe EXPOSED!!!
Lol AI apple intelligence is such a apple move
Waiting for the Apple bidet so they can claim they revolutionized asshole cleaning!! -Mika
@@calebhammeryourweekinmoney 😂😂😂
LoL the apple thing. Android had those features for years 😊
Apple definitely revolutionized that one thing and those other features, let’s be real. -Mika
LMAO not even close@@calebhammeryourweekinmoney
Thank you.
You’re welcome.
This guy deserves 100k subs at least
Thanks! -Mika
Cancelled Adobe
Caleb - please try reading/speaking a little more slowly. The speed is making it seem forced. I want to listen but ….
YOU SAID SILO SEASON 2????
Movies are down because people are sick of being slapped with propaganda in every single film released. Maybe try making good movies again?????
AMEN!! -Mika
CAN I GET AN ORIGINAL MOVIE PLEASE JESUSSSSSSS
Adobe is scamming me?? I don’t remember installing it 😮
Check your pc quick!! -Mika
Well if they put out good movies we would probably see them. Bad Boys and Deadpool looks like the best of the year. The writing these days is terrible, everything is either a strong independent woman or the cast was hand picked to check DEI boxes. We want to be entertained, not preached on how to think.
Makes me appreciate when strong women are written right, like in Arcane. -Mika
@@calebhammeryourweekinmoney best strong woman was the Alien's movies and most recently Predator: Prey. Those are how you write them.
So, what you're saying is apple is just copying more of androids basic features. Good for you guys 😂😂
Never liked watching movies outside my home. Too crowdy. However I am not watching movies at all ever since they started making everything into a political message. Can't stand it.
To be fair planet of the apes is at like 2 billion so far isn’t it?
RIGHTFULLY DESERVED IF TRUE. Love me some talking monkeys with guns. -Mika
So IOS is just slowly copying samsung
Basically. Then act they are revolutionizing something 😅
Classic Apple 🤣 -Mika
The last bad boy movie sucked
Not surprising -Mika
It was really good, compared to Bad Boys 2
Welcome cringe stars
And thier earnings are coming up mmmm yummy puts
