It's not something one would think about, in my opinion. Most probably expect the city to fix it and therefore do nothing. As long as it doesn't do them obvious harm, they won't care. Ages ago when I was younger, my brother and I did something similar to what post10 does. It was raining hard and there was clogged drain on the road down the hill from our house. Bro and I went out there with rakes and unclogged it, because we were young and bored. lol
Could almost promise that if you look the part, you can go anywhere. People make assumptions, me included. If I saw a dude in construction gear and wasn't in a place of power, then I would just assume they are working on something.

Cleared the leaves out of the storm drain outside my house this morning - even got a tiny whirlpool! Got the crosswalk clear from flooding, and it felt good.

Just had a lot of rainfall where I live. This guy's videos inspired me to quickly go hit a drain that was clogged, rather than doing nothing. Cleared up a good stretch of a parking lot that had about 4" of water in it, and took maybe five minutes. Not going to lie, it felt good.

Great drain clearing. In 1983, Hurricane Alicia went over my parent's house. The storm drains were full of tree limbs and flooded the street. When the eye of the hurricane was over us I went out in the sunshine and used a garden rake just like yours to pull the tree limbs out of the drain. The water drained off the street just as the hurricane eye clouds approached. I scooted back inside for the second half of the game. Howling wind vs. Driving Rain.

That's the problem with doing a job so well: eventually you don't have to do it anymore. Rather than disappointment at not having to clear a drain, you should view the city talking proper care of their drains as a sign that you've brought significant enough attention to a problem and it has started to be addressed by those who really should be dealing with it. Like anything, there is always another drain to clear, if only you look hard enough.

It's very admirable that you spend your time cleaning out the drains and should be hired by your township. You probably know more ways to fix the problems around your township drainage systems, then the township actually does. Keep up the good work
