Same here. I grew up on a university campus and would go out and unclog various street drains that routinely clogged up after storms. They'd usually come and yell at me too. Like I was some punk vandalizing the campus.
My town had an old coke pit that would fill up and we go down to the river bank and unclog it. I’m sure this was probably unsafe and toxic but too late now.
This reminds me of the flooded basement in my family’s house during Hurricane Agnes in 1972. It was fascinating to watch the water spill into the sump pit when I was just a wee young boy. 👊 Thank you sir.

I would be nowhere near that hole and shows how people don't even realize the dangers they are putting themselves at.

There has to be nice size tunnels under the asphalt to drain the water. That already weakens the ground level. However, when things arent done properly; water will find holes in the cracks and erode the out from under the ground surface over time. After years of this much of the under soil can be eroded out from under the parking lot. With all that weight it could give, I've seen it happen on other videos. The bubbles and where they are coming from is an indicator that something isnt right under that drain; as bubbles should not be able to come straight up through the dirt.
I do cleaning shopping malls toilets and I've been scraped by a needle twice I've had all my nesscessary shots but you've really gotta watch out for those needles they could be anywhere usually in the bins😊

Rubber gloves are either not strong enough or too thick to operate. Ive tested a bunch on wild roses. Only reinforced thick leather sustained it. It was one sided protection and i couldn't hold a leaf or anything with it. You are right in a sense. I just haven't found anything suitable yet. For his task, hook or something would be better. But cant walk with it randomly.
if your seeing bubbles comeing up from not around the drain thats a start of a sink hole, all that rain water is silting out all the dirt from under you.
there is a couple of Variables that this could happen. 1: what you have said. 2: Bubbles can in fact be a sign of syphoning as well. and AIR needs to get in that system to PURGE it all.

I used to do this alot as a kid and it be so fun watching the bugs 🐛 get suck down never to be seen again. Those bugs were really struggling not to get suck down but the power of the water was to strong.

There are several (intentional) ponds on the property, one of which is quite big. The ducks spend most of their time over there, along with geese, herons, and several other species!
Our property manager has a checklist of items to be done on a recurring basis. His philosophy is that he'd rather have boring days versus exciting days. PS - I’d call the property management firm or ask one of the tenants about the flooded lot. Squeaky wheel theory. PS2 - leaves and trash are usually the culprit

Those bubbles around the perimeter of the drain may be indicative of a bigger problem. Possibly a sink hole. A "Massive" sink hole. 😁

The water swirl direction is a myth. It's nothing to do with the hemisphere you're in.

Here's a tip. Shuffle your feet on top of the grate to remove the debris that's clogging it. A metal rake also works well.

That drain looks like it should be flowing way faster than that. At the end it looks like it's clogged beneath the grate somehow.
