Such an underrated channel. Great profiles and it’s awesome getting insight into these past formats from someone who actually played competitively during this time. I’ve always liked card trader and another deck that I thought could’ve utilized it well around this time was volcanics to reshuffle shells and the accelerator searched off rocket

First! 2 videos is one week? The man is on a mission! Haven’t even watched it yet but know it’s going to be a gem! Great way to head into the weekend. Thanks as always Joe!

Today I learned Card Trader at one point wasn't a terrible card. That......kinda blows my mind actually.
This is why I love this channel, I learn so much new stuff every video.

YGO_History and Ruggles are easily two of the best content creators right now in my opinion. Both consistently provide worthful thoughtful video essays.
It'd be interesting to get your take on some of yugiohs earliest formats like 2002 and 2003.

I am still questing to finish a playset of TP1 Mechanicalchasers and foreign LON Gemini Elf. BUT - those will be on the way eventually.

Always thought it was wack that the card frame size change happened in the middle of the turbo pack gadget releases; to me, it really messes with the deck's aesthetics when running the gadgets at their first good rarity printing, and it's a problem for the gadgets moreso than basically any other deck in this format.

I love your passion and knowledge about the games history! Keep up the great work!!!
Do you have any plans to ever try event/format coverage videos? I like how you briefly cover format info in the deck profiles. But a more in depth view for formats sounds cool ;D

I’ve never heard of Card Trader being played so I learned something new. 5th Gadget started a movement where players would play 45 cards so they could palm whatever 5 cards they wanted to their opening hands, so I blocked this era out of my mind. Thankfully, most of the more influential cheaters got caught and banned.

I mean, I grew up on the forums talking about the 1/5 odds of opening with a Gadget.

My heart burnt when you mentioned DDT, I totally loved this strategy abusing busted Spell Cards with Diamond Dude

In my opinion, zombies were the best deck to use Shrink this format since Pyramid Turtle can crash with a Monarch and float.

Also since were double dipping would love to see your profile what perfect circle what a fuck like during the summer format! We’ve seen it fully fledged in a couple forms heading into the fall. But would love to see what the early stages of the deck would look like considering we had triple malicious and triple destiny draw! seems like it could be an easy in between or for you while you cook up the next great idea!

I could definitely consider that. I first met Jessy Samek right after he won SJC Philly. We would become great friends later - but he won with PCM.

Thanks for the profile. As always, there are some really nice cards to look at here.
Now in my opinion this is one of the weirdest decks that ever saw success.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a big fan of Card Trader. It only does something if you draw multiple Gadgets and actually manage to resolve all of your normal summons. This makes it especially bad post side when your opponent will frequently deny your search with Pulling the Rug or some sort of hand disruption (the latter also being common in many main decks. Speaking of which, I'm very surprised you're not running Confiscation. It's one of the best 1-for-1 cards in the format. You're also not playing Ring. Are you just very afraid of losing too much LP?). I would even go so far as to say that I want to draw 2-3 Gadgets in many situations to ensure that I can keep the chain going.
I'm also not sure how I feel about the idea of running 45 cards. The "fifth Gadget" idea is cute, but was probably not backed by actual math. Now there are many things that play into the decision to play a certain count of cards for this deck, so I'm not gonna say that any one number is objectively correct. But I'm just gonna leave some numbers. The odds for 40 cards are approximately:
81% to open at least one Gadget. 41% to open at least two and 11% to open three or more. 49% to open either Dustshoot or Confi and 15% if you're just playing Confi.
    And for 45 cards:
76% for a Gadget. 34% for two. And 8% for at least three. 45% for Dustshoot or Confi. 13% to open Confi.
And again, post side running more cards is worse. You are just less likely to see your important side cards.
Also Upstart Goblin wasn't really a thing at the time outside of some rare combo decks. But I think it should be a staple three-of in Gadgets regardless of deck count. Even just adding Upstart and making the deck 48 is an improvement. Since this deck doesn't really suddenly push for game, the downside is negligible. But there are some very relevant upsides. First, Upstart reduces the odds of drawing too many Gadgets, but doesn't decrease the odds of seeing one to get started. If you have a Gadget and Upstart, you can delay using Upstart to make drawing another Gadget less likely. But if you don't have anything, you can just draw right away. There's also the case of mitigating the impact of Trap Dustshoot either by giving the opponent less information and choices or even dodging the effect altogether.
