hey man, I had a doubt, I've a GH5 with a 12-60mm lens and I want to buy a gimbal. What gimbal would you recommend for me? I was thinking of buying the Zhiyun Weebill S.
@THE SIKH BOY I'm not much of a gimbal guy, but I think that wouldn't be a bad option at all. Otherwise I think the Ronin S would be perfect for the GH5. It is a beast though. I think the Ronin SC or Crane Plus would work as well. I still own a Crane V2 that I use once in a while with my GH5 and the Tokina 11-16mm when needed and it does the job. I think it's important to consider the heaviest lens you think you will use at any given time and narrow your choices down to which ones can support the weight. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
This camera might be absolutely perfect for its price. I've shot a couple short films that you can find on my channel - they're all shot on the GH5 - and I can honestly say it's incredible. You're right about the autofocus, and full frame would definitely be a lot better than MFT. But everything else in the camera is top notch performance. Great for beginners and pros!
There's two ways to "combat" the shallow depth of field. Everyone knows you can use speedboster, but also, lenses with larger front elements. The larger the front element, the more depth of field, regardless of sensor size
Interesting! I can't say I'm familiar with this, but I will have to look into it more sometime and test it out myself. I personally don't have a huge issue with the lack of depth of field with the MFT system. I feel like you can have too much shallow depth of field if not used correctly. What is the bigger con for me is the amount of light or using them in lowlight situations. Again this is why I'm such a fan of using speed boosters on this camera. Thanks for watching!
Taking advantage of what you mentioned, it would be really nice to have a video about the not-so-known features of this camera. Thanks, McHugh, I recently bought this one and I need to get to know it better. Your videos help!
Great work Jake, thanks for your GH5 videos. I rock a Canon 7D since 2012, almost 10 years. I think it's time to upgrade, your videos have helped me out to figure things out on my own about the GH5. Thanks again!
I'm so glad I am able to be helpful for you! Props to you for sticking with a camera for that long. I'm not sure I would be able to do that myself haha. Thanks for watching!
Good review Jake. I also discovered the defects and qualities of the GH5 using it frequently. The two main defects are unreliable autofocus and the production of grainy images in low light. I get great images using a Sigma 1.4 16 mm lens and a Lumix 1.7 42.5 mm lens.
Thank you! Those two lenses you have are amazing. I use the Sigma 16mm on my a6400 and it's incredible for the price. I would love to use it on my GH5 once again too. Thanks for watching!
Just bought it, I cant wait to see the cinematic car videos I can make with it + more. Thinking of pairing it with a ronin M after I sell my S, since the S is starting to have a mind of its own. Still keeping around my lil m50 since it's a beast.
Just so you know, the GH5S was developed to help filming when you have the camera mounted on a car. The IBIS can be problematic as it is a floating sensor and reacting to the movement of the vehicle which it is not meant for (handheld is different). That is one of the reasons the GH5S does not have IBIS. For everything else, the GH5 basically rocks and is still unrivaled today. You just have to know what you are doing, and how to do it. .
@@Superz3ro for rolling shots I usually hang out the side of another car with the camera on a ronin so I can get low to the ground around 55mph. My camera settings are usually 24fps and shutter at 1/50 with an ND filter to get the burry road but the car in focus. otherwise when I'm doing shots of the car just sitting I'm usually 60fps 120 shutter with the gimbal still. Sometimes handheld for close ups or in car.
Nice! Congrats on an amazing camera! I think for how you are using it you’ll enjoy it. That’s unfortunate about your ronin S. I think that is one of the better gimbals to use with this camera. Thanks for watching!
Sorry for the late reply. Each time you want to change the settings in a custom dial you have to save it under the Custom Set Menu setting. Set the settings you want for C1 and switch it to the AF mode you want and then go into the settings and go under the Wrench --> Cust.Set. Mem. --> C1. Then every time you switch into the C1 dial it should be the same exact settings you just set it to. Even if you change them while using that mode dial and switch it out and back in it will go back to the original settings you just set it to. The same thing will apply to C3 and the others. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I looking for to buy the gh5 but im not sure what Extra gear i Will buy to it but what overall lens to the gh5 for filmmaking do you recomend and what microphone for the gh5 do you recomend too
Sure is. If the MFT scares you maybe the GH5s would be more up your alley. Bigger sensor and better lowlight, but lacks the IBIS unfortunately. Thanks for watching as always!

Hey! I bought GH5, and when the camera is simply turned on (without recording), then after about 20 minutes it starts to warm up in the area of the matrix and further stronger. I can't figure out if this is a problem or is it normal for her?
