Thanks for the video. Very good job. FYI, the active cleaning agent in CLP is the same one that is in Mobile 1...

I like the way Ballistol and Break Free CLP worked. Both would be great to have and looks like they work just about the same in the real world setting.

Compared to other tests where ballistol is used from a spray can I can tell that the fluid version is quite better. The fluid version is thicker.

Thanks for pointing me to this test video, which was just as interesting & informative as your Mil-Comm vs FrogLube video. As you suggested in this video, I'm going to watch Plate of Truth by FredHart. I've subscribed to your channel & will look forward to any & all additional anti rust lube tests. It appears to me you are unbiased & letting the results speak.

Well done test. I am a long time Mobil 1 synth user and it has served me well.

Nice video, looks like the glock lube (from your other vid) is the best as far as pure rust prevention. I love my ballistol but man that stuff has a NASTY smell :) I guess I will stick with ballistol for the lubrication and cleaning qualities and hopefully there will be not much chance of rusting in my safe with the dehumidifier plugged in. :) Nice work again always learn some stuff when I watch your videos.

Loved the results & the vids, thx for them all. One question though, why did you not let the oils soak in a little more before subjecting them to the saline solution? It would appear that most people would finish cleaning their firearms then, do a light lube on their weapons before they would get subjected to such a harsh environment? Was it just to speed things up? Thx again.

Ballistol is the only oil tested that is mineral oil based. I'm wondering how well it would hold up if given time to cure into the metal.

    From Glockmeister:
I tried to include a direct link to the product @Glockmeister's website & wasn't able to post. It is referred to as Copper Lube or CL-2, a 1 oz tube is $9.00
With the advent of superior synthetic lubes, now, COPPER LUBE that Glock is still using may very well turn out to be inferrior.......wouldn't THAT get GLOCK'S attention?

  • @replacesoundboard

There are 2 things I would have liked to see done differently:
    - Instead of applying the product onto a cotton swab then rubbing it on the surface, I would have applied the product onto the surface then rub it. I can understand that it can be difficult for some bottles, but rubbing a wet cotton swab might only leave a very thin layer; maybe not enough.
    - When spraying the salt water directly into the metal plates, it may act like a hose that pushes some of the applied product away. Coupled with the fact it was thinly applied with a cotton swab, it might not leave enough product to be tested. Especially since Ballistol is designed to emulsify with water to turn into a creamy white substance.
The 1st point might not be relevant if you are constantly assaulted by strong water blow (like a boat you are trying to protect against rust), but if you merely live in a very damp and salty area, it's not the same thing.

That being said, I think it's clear from this video that if we store our stuffs in a relatively controlled environment and periodically clean them up (like every couple of months), we should be fine.

I'm the guy that previously asked you to include G Lube in your next corrosion test, sold by Glockmeister.
Please include the COPPER LUBE that Glock puts on all their firearms when being shipped from the production facilities.
The Copper Lube is something Gaston Glock believed in, however times have changed & we now have newer & maybe better long term protectants.
I'm kind of surprised you haven't already included it in your corrosion tests - the GLOCK COPPER LUBE; sure to get GLOCKS attn

Some products have a lot of volatile solvents that have to be given time to evaporate, while Mobil 1 has none. Multiple thin coats, dry, recoat, dry totally before testing is much more like real use.

an auto engine lives under very harsh conditions every day of its life. During spring especially an engine that sits goes through many cycles of warming and cooling in very humid conditions. I have seen engines sweating on the inside yet seldom seize up. I have also have had new ar's not want to run using light gun oils yet ran fine after literally dumping engine oil in the upper receiver and cycling it a few times. That's when I started using engine oil. Does not mean I'm right it's just what i do. thanks for the video.

Lubrication and rust prevention are two completely different jobs. Expecting one product to do both is a unnecessary compromise. Interior moving parts need a super slippery synthetic, exterior of gun needs Shooters Choice Rust Prevent (or equivalent).

  • @azbcaz

I even have a title for the test:
GLOCK's Copper Lube compared to other Lubes.....that title would get EVERYONE's attention
It's almost as though you would be questioning Glock's manhood.
