One way of talking about parts expressed in a challenging book called "The Haunted Self" speaks about an Apparently Normal Part who might be considered the primary manager. This is generally who we believe we are. That part manages life when we're not overwhelmed by stress. It may draw upon Self energy but it is not Self Essence. I appreciate the term Apparently Normal Part. Mine has worked very hard for a very long time. This is a beautiful journey into Self Essence with two men I respect greatly. IFS really offers a method to heal pain deeply rooted in trauma.

IFS is Amazing...it puts a new spin on Freud and Jung, who describe our unique "parts" (Schwartz)
    as Dissociative illnesses !
We are not people with Multiple Personality Disorders! (!!)
I look forward to listening to this.

I loved this experiential introduction to Self. Loch's way of showing that knowing Self is as direct and possible as knowing parts has transformed my life and m IFS therapy practice. My clients have unburdened parts they had been working with for months, by starting with Loch's 11 i's of Self Essence, so they feel the infinite intimacy of interconnected Love they have been longing for all their lives. Thanks so much!

This is exactly what I have been looking for: resolution of the paradoxical relationship between IFS Self and Self-like part that looks and feels in all aspects like Self, but doesn't have the 11 characteristics of Self Essence. I look forward to Loch Kelly's further training to get how to do IFS form Self Essence.

Brilliant...this connection, understanding and developing space for Self is the key, for me. So appreciate LKelly knowledge and wisdom he has learned...please Loch, more trainings, teachings available...and/or videos

Greatly appreciate this conversation! It resonated deeply. I was not familiar with Loch Kelly's work, and found his descriptions or "pointers" incredibly evocative of what moments of realization of non-duality and connection with Self have felt for me, and I love how this ties in with IFS. I practice Judith Blackstone's Realization Process as a meditation method and so much resonated with that as well. I especially appreciated revisiting the understanding that this is accessible to all, that it is something to be accessed, not created, and that there is no contradiction between "everything is perfect in being what it is" and action, in going forth in the world and existing from the ground of Self (Self-leadership). Recalls for me the Zen koan “Before enlightenment; chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment; chop wood, carry water.” I love this image: "weather happens but they sky is never hurt", it really helps to remind me when I'm caught in that seeming paradox you describe so well, Derek. Thank you so much for this gift!

I love being witness in how the narrow limited sense of self we have always thought that exists is slowly fading to make space to who we truly ARE…
IFS s nothing else but another portal for me to what IS here and always has been… I find the model quiet complex the more I melts into silence…. The life essence as it’s seen simply IS … any attempt to define or construct it moves us away from IT…. It’s a location less place less place - the paradox of non duality- everything yet nothing - empty yet full

Really illuminating insight into self. I love the 11 "I's" and elaborating self into three levels is inspiring and innate. (lol! there's four "I's") Kelly and Scott both have a way of explaining that it really resonates. I was welling with tears of recognition around the 32min mark.

Love Loch's work nd the clarity that he communiates with - add this appproach to Systemic Constellation Work to add another level of directly accessing and shifting or integrating the transgenerational trauma that obscures the Self

Fascinating! I would love to hear a person from the Advaita Vedanta tradition talk about this. Maybe Swami Sarvapriyananda could be invited into the discussion on “Self essence”.

Listening to the description of the Self, I would think he is trying to explain what God is. Unknowable and known. Minus all the parts and is everything. ..
