    One of the truths we most regularly forget is that if we are at war with ourselves, we can’t feel love and connection with our world. This talk looks at the genesis of the “Trance of Unworthiness” and how the wings of mindfulness and heartfulness can dissolve the trance and reveal the loving awareness that is our essence Being.

    Heard her name for a decade, yet never actually read any of her work. This is the first time I listen to her. I thought I could listen at 1.25x while doing something else. Actually I need to sit down and pause a lot because I receive a lot. I guess I wasn't ready back then. Thank you Tara.

      i understand yr pain, i found it terrible for me personally(who we wear a spacesuit for acceptance from parents, family, friends, colleagues...) but i can imagine she speaking about non white Americans how horribly they where treated as inferior people and still get treated differently by police and probably white people.
      I apologise for my white fellowman and woman.

    You touch so many lives with your words in a way that transcends all expectations of a human life's work. You make me think of a fairy spreading healing miracles to sleeping people. They wake up and, each at their own pace, they will understand the 2 wings of being present and access to the gold inside them. The miracle of togetherness starts with compassion for ourself. Your teachings of how to do it are a precious gift. Thank you, Tara, for your generosity and wisdom. Please let the gold inside you keep shining on every being on earth. Namaste

    Damn, I really felt something there. I'm a young man kind of stuck in my life. I have moved to a new place and have issues finding a community here. And then I judge myself and other (men especially) for being loners, unable to attract a woman, shy and insecure. I fear being that guy so much, but my inner critic says I am no more than that. It says I'm disgusting, unacceptable, awkward, weird, unattractive, defective.
    That inner critic is society, my parents.
    During this meditation I felt a sense of compassion for myself I haven't felt in a long time. Not like a victim-compassion, but more a forgiving "I have done so well given my situation, I can't blame myself, I have been doing everything I could, and I'm okay in that".
    Life can be difficult. I'm transsexual, and I have so much shame around it. I have hidden it for years now. Everything I ever wanted was to feel acceptable, like I belong, and experiencing safe, loving intimacy.
    I'll remember the "it's not until you free yourself that you are free to change"

    • @Changeworld408
      @Changeworld408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Julian, i understand what you go through and can relate(self judgement is the worst and it is so hard to critisize oneself) Now i understand why the pain can be so intollerable when you say to yrself "i am not enough". I don't give a damn what sexual identity or skin colour one has and I think most of the time we think people think things about us but in fact they don't. Do you judge others? most of us or preoccupied with trying to please others(spacesuit) for getting acceptance or love(because the self love is lacking)

    • @fromeveryting29
      @fromeveryting29 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Changeworld408 thank you! This video kind of changed something in me actually. I looked into c-ptsd and stuff and did daily excercises to learn to feel and accept my feelings, and to my surprise it helped a lot. I also joined a therapy group for students. I told them about the things I'm ashamed of, and hope it will help.
      Shame makes us want to hide, so in order to combat it we must do the opposite of hiding, I guess.
      To answer your question, yes I do judge others. Especially those who have traits similar to the traits I reject in myself. I know I do it. I have suspected that getting to know those people and learning to accept them could help me accept myself.
      I mean. I live a pretty functional life now. I transitioned 4 years ago. My life is way better. It's just my shame, relationships and intimacy issues that are behind where I would want to be.
      Wish you the most wonderful life.

    Tara, Thanks so much for revisiting "Radical Acceptance" in this talk. I appreciated the focus on the two wings to help bring us inner peace: mindfulness and heartfulness (compassion). I loved the many examples you used throughout your talk, especially the example of the gold Buddha status encased in clay - great metaphor that reminds us of our true nature or essence! Thanks again! Namaste.

    I got the 3 cd series in 2008, and while it resonated with me, it wasn't until a couple years later that I sat down and listened again, discovering I wasn't open in 2008, almost wish to say 'I wasn't ready or willing.' Although, I thought I wasn't ready, I was actively working on my Self. Upon revisiting the audio series, I was marveled at the transformation, the wonderful shifts I had since experienced. I am currently doing the Master Cleanse, releasing stored emotions that has built up in the body over time is being released at 'let go'. I came back to this audio series to do further work to support and release. In gratitude, thank you for your teachings!

      By being your true, unadulterated self, without forcing it upon others but accepting yourself exactly as you are, that is part of how you will find your tribe. When you don't have to hide yourself to fit in, you will catch the attention of other people who are like you or want to be more like you, and if you are open and pro-active, you can grow your circle of friends and create your own space where you feel you belong. You can start belonging to others like you, and you to them. For years, I made the mistake of thinking that my inner self, my hidden self, was unique and unrelateable. There is a place for you in this world, and it is right where you are. On the other side of the coin, we are in a world where most people are trying to fit in and be like each-other, so to them you could be perceived as a breath of fresh air. Being the unique one in my friend group actually makes me endearing, not annoying.
      I am still on this journey to feel comfortable in my own skin in a society I sometimes feel I can't relate to - but more and more, I'm finding that I can relate to them much more than I first thought, and that there are a lot more people like me out there than I first imagined. Accepting others exactly as they are without wishing they would change has helped me tremendously, and it encourages them to do the same with you on a subconscious level. I truly believe that if you ease into your own authentic self and accept yourself for who you are, that some others will too. And some is enough. I used to think that I had to win everyone over in order to be accepted and have a place in this world, but you know what...? I don't like hardcore rap. And a lot of people who do wouldn't go for my 10m long progressive rock songs. I realized I was trying to win everyone over when in reality, that was never going to happen. So being yourself might not jive with everyone, and that's the way it's supposed to be! I accept that now and I'm more confident in my own skin because of it. I truly hope you can find peace with it as I am beginning to. xoxo

      Târa Brach -
      Hi. Love your tapes! They go direct to the issue.
      I think earlier someone asked if you could dim the stage lights as the reflections (in the mirror) are distracting.
      I respectfully suggest that you might want to check this out. At first, I did not notice but I see sort of turbun, bun or "small black cloud" moving on the back of your head.
      I hope I have not offended but serve up this suggestion so that viewers get your A1 best. Your posting does make me smile as I sometimes wear a bun.
      Best wishes for Happy Holidays and a Great New Year to everyone. 🐱🐕🐇

    Ok, I love this... but I don’t feel it’s totally fair to bring up that police mistreat blacks. Sending that very message is part of the problem.

    Hi Tara, thank you so much for the video!!!!!
    But how do you pause in the heat of the moment?
    If I would be able to pause when when agitated my life would be whole lot less painful.

    This is great but if you are having oscillation and need stability to crack through your personhood there is a self who has managed to use backwards teaching methods which works in the modern day.
