Fallout 3 has a lot of weapons in it. Some are better at close range, some at long range, some you use as traps and others just flat out don’t exist at all. But there’s one weapon that is just the worst. Can You Beat Fallout 3 With Only A Chinese Pistol?

Can You Beat Fallout 3 With Only A Chinese Pistol? (in text form)
The first thing you’re going to notice about this playthrough is that none of it is in English. That’s because I didn’t think restricting myself to a firearm would be enough of a challenge, so I killed two birds with one bullet by playing Fallout 3 with only a Chinese Pistol and in a language I can’t understand. Originally I wanted to do it in Chinese as a funny ha ha because of the gun name but it wasn’t an option in Steam. It’s probably for the best, all things considered. I’m sure I’m on a list after what I put in my Operation Anchorage thumbnail anyway.
The Chinese Pistol is in the Small Guns category and is based around Agility, which is why I maxed that out. Luck also influences all skills, Intelligence is for as many experience points as possible, and I spread out the rest pretty evenly, except for Charisma. Being charismatic is one of the worst values someone can have, trust me, I’d know. Speech isn’t the Frank Horrigan of skills in Fallout 3 like it is in New Vegas, no reason to waste time with it. Speaking of wasting time though, the time had come for my 10th birthday party. It was an odd experience. I’ve done this part of Fallout 3 so many times that even when I couldn’t see what the dialog choices were, I still pretty much remembered what everyone was saying. It’s strange to be able to navigate menus and make choices when you don’t know the language.
After failing to cut Butch’s head off with a plate, I escaped the vile gaze of Beatrice Armstrong, got my BB Gun and made a decision. I’m not playing this as child or a baby, so I’m going to kill the Roach, but there was something I’ve always been curious about. To satisfy that quandary, I took my gun to the door, manipulated the universe around me, got myself into a situation you’re not supposed to be in, and pumped the Overseer full of baby lead. I don’t know what BB’s are made of. I wanted to know what would happen if the Overseer died early. He can’t, he just has an aneurysm and takes a nap.
But Stanley is around when you take the GOAT and during your escape. He’s the perfect candidate for my ideas. I popped his head like a raisin and nearly lost my mind. Stanley’s had is so cool. Ready to see the fruits of my labor and Stanley’s life, I returned to the basement, shot the bug, got the greatest Birthday photo ever, told Dad to take his stethoscope and shove it up his ass, and had my brain crushed. Stanley, that stick in the mud, is back from the dead. Unfortunate, especially since I couldn’t kill him again. Someone who isn’t me should see if it’s possible to kill Stanley 3 times. Once as a child, somehow in the GOAT section, and again during the Escape. - เกม

*Can you beat New Vegas by Killing Everything?*
-You must kill everyone you see immediately on sight.
-You cannot run away from a fight or ignore any person or creature you see -Cannot engage in any dialogue that isn’t forced
-You can kill Yesman and he will respawn so you can still complete the challenge and beat the game.
-Essentially the complete opposite of a pacifist run
New Vegas developers said that every character can be killed, so put that to the test.

My language teacher in high school said that using apps and playing games that you know like the back of your hand in language you're learning can help you learn it by association. Meaning if you know a button that says "Verlassen" is the the one that quits out of a window, your mind will naturally associate "quit" with "Verlassen"

That's precisely how I learned English throughout my life. I am not a native English speaker (as if that wasn't obvious). I used to play video games in my native language up until around being eight years or so of age and then put them all into English. School didn't teach me as much as this method has.

Well if you want to be technical, the Chinese pistol is a copy of a late 19 century German semi automatic pistol called the Mauser C96 so the fact the language Mitten chose is German is either incredibly coincidental or Mitten isn’t as brain dead after all the challenges as I thought.

Because in Fallout, the faster a weapon fires, the more DPS, but the low individual projectile damage makes it ineffective against armored targets...

If it used the DT system. With the DR system, every reduction is relative, so per-shot damage is irrelevant, it's all about DPS.

if the player started out weaker than every enemy in the game the start would be very difficult.
Honestly, they missed an opportunity for a really good plot twist with the placement of a single handgun: the Vault 101 Overseer's family is secretly pro-China communist, which would implicitly explain why/how his daughter would bring the Vault Dweller a _Chinese_ Pistol instead of a 10mm. That way, the 10mm can be an upgrade like it was obviously meant to be somewhere along the way to Moira, and the player has now been set up from the _gameplay_ to expect that maybe pockets of Chinese ghoul resistance still exist across the Capitol Wasteland. It sure would have made that food factory in Lexington less left-field.

Nah, dude. Paul is saying Charisma is useless to waste SPECIAL points on. It’s better to put them into Endurance, Luck, or Agility and use skill points to boost Speech/Barter when you level up.

This. Last time I played Fallout 3 couple of months ago I was level 25 and i used .32 pistol with 100 bullets as my only weapon on my way to the Pitt Tunnel (all your equipment gets taken from you for majority of the DLC anyways) and beginning of the DLC. Then I ran into a deathclaw and two sentry bots near Fort Constantine. God this thing is horrendous even with 100 small guns
Also "Zhu-Rong v418 Chinese pistol" exists.
Which makes the Chinese pistol far from awful.

The only thing more disappointing than the Chinese Pistol is the amount of effort required to obtain a barely noticeable upgrade to it.
Currently doing a playthrough with it, and gotta say, it's still shit even with the incendiary bullets.
The funny thing is, the “Chinese pistol” is actually a Mauser design, the c96 made during ww1 so it’s really a German pistol

When any game freezes and doesn't let you alt-tab out you can do the following:
Always have task manager minimized when playing, and set to sort by most memory consumed; Which will hopefully be the game.
When the issue happens you alt-tab to your task manager (You can't see it but you're actually controlling it) then press TAB, down arrow, DELETE and enter, in that order.
That should select the game's process and shut it down, without seeing it. If you've done it right, the game should close and you won't have to restart your computer.
You can also select options for task manager and select "always on top" so it will show up on top of any program if you need it.
That requires you to set up the task manager properly before the game freezes. Okay, if you play Fallout you should prepare for anything but if a random game freezes and you didn't expect it, then this won't fix it

Ctrl + Shift + Esc is a handy shortcut to open up the Task Manager. It will open it if it is not running, or bring it to foreground if it is already running and minimized or behind any other window. From there use Tab to navigate inside the sections of Task Manager, press down to go through the list of apps, etc. Delete key will close the app OR ask if you want to close it (depends on version of Windows used).

Challenge suggestion:
Prove humans are the pinnacle of wasteland hunters by completing the bleed me dry quest in new Vegas without the use of weapons, clothing or armour, or aid items.
Easy. Just do the fast travel glitch that stops time, no items needed. I refer you to the youtuber Tomatoanus, he has a New Vegas sex% speedrun (have sex with all possible partners in NV including Red Lucy), he utilises that glitch a lot in it and most of the run is achievable without items

@@foddey_3543 The gun is a Red9. Basically a Chinese unlicensed reproduction of the Mauser C96 and M712 pistols. They have a reputation for not lasting as long as their German made counterparts due to them being made in factories with often minimal tooling using steel that was of below quality expected of most colonial world powers at the time, but China was new to the mass production of self loading firearms at the time they were produced. I’m talking about our real world not fallout lore. The Red9 fell out of favor with the Chinese after WW2 when the communists took over from what I understand.

Loved the simplicity of FO3’s weapons. Fallout 4’s customizable weapons was cool but their unique weapons just didn’t give me the same satisfaction like FO3’s unique weapons
You can get through the older fallouts with non unique/legendary weapons but in the newer fallouts it's almost necessary to have them but there's very few unique weapons anymore idk why
Super late reply but on a tangent: I really hate how few weapons FO4 had. Both base and unique, its unique ones just used non-unique legendary affects that could be found on random legendary drops. As far as I remember, the only truly unique gun in the game is the Deliverer, and then that one sledghammer with ruptured fusion cores (Atom's Judgment?) and the 2076 Baseball Bat. I think only the bat has a one of a kind legendary effect on it. The prototype plasma rifle and Aeternus...Aeturnas? That one gatling laser with infinite ammo; they aren't truly unique as you can find the same effect on regular legendary drops. Bigmooney06 found a never ending .44 pistol in his Fallout 4 playthrough. The gatling laser is only special because the game treats fusion cores differently compared to regular ammo types, so it's glitched and thus the gun truly does have infinite ammo, instead of just holding all of the ammo currently in your inventory.
Then in Nuka World the Acid Soaker is literally a mash of The Deliverer and like a Combat Rifle barrel..
And sure, 3's unique weapons were usually just base arms with unique effects, but atleast without legendary stuff they were truly unique, NV took it to a new level with most unique weapons being either one of a kind or looking substantially different to the regular version along with having improvements and drawbacks like with 3's uniques. My favourite is Lucky, because my favourite gun is the SAA, but also it just looks really damn nice and has a very high crit chance. The Mysterious Magnum will play the Mysterious Stranger's theme when drawn/holstered and so on, so forth.
Anyway, my point is that yeah, I agree that the in depth customisation in 4 and hell, even 76, is really damn cool, but truly unique guns are all but gone in both and that saddens me.

@@reedwalther3972 The C96 is fairly famous for widely being used by the Chinese during the warlord era (Chiang Kai-Shek era), as well as during the Second Sino-Japanese war. This is not the only German weapon used by the chinese in this era. Others include Panzer Is, mauser license copies, Sdkfz 222., He 51s, and even 12 He 111s.

Edit: As pointed out by an answer to this comment, it is based on an 1896 Mauser pistol design, so there isn't any direct link to one of the world wars, and if there would be, it would probably be leaning more towards ww1 NOT ww2!

It was first produced in 1896, so it is not really a WW2 pistol.
