She was able to manipulate and berate so many young people because she was exploiting their dreams and the fact that, like Adrienne Curry, so many young people saw Tyra as an actual opportunity or last chance to realize their goals.
Tyra used smoke and mirrors to show scams and cover the fact that she was basically running a drama filled scam.

    • @lilymoore7409

I’m not surprised at all because there is a incredibly large market in the business of exploiting women and embarrassing them. As much mistreatment of women there are, there are ten times as many people justifying it and enjoying it. Sex sells but society hates when women sell the product in their own merit. Modeling walks the line of taboo and socially acceptable. Specifically modeling for “promiscuity” things.

I honestly feel guilty for ever enjoying America's Next Top Model... looking back, it is so unbelievably problematic, and the way the models were treated is awful and abusive and should NOT have been on television. I remember a contestant named Kayla who had been sexually abused by a man, and she was very emotionally triggered when she was told she had to kiss a guy for some commercial. When she told Mr. Jay (Jay Manuel) about her abuse, he attempted to comfort her and then they just had her kiss the guy on the video shoot anyway, even though she was extremely uncomfortable and it was triggering for her. Don't feel guilty. This is literally why child predators are so reviled -- kids have no basis for knowing what is/isn't ok, and have been explicitly taught to trust authority figures. You are not responsible for the things normalized in front of you while your brain was still forming.
We should definitely reflect on watching it and enjoying it, I'm not saying we should just shrug our shoulders and act like we didn't participate. But it makes SENSE that we didn't understand what we were looking at as children. That's why it's so horrendous that Tyra used her platform in such a harmful way, fully aware of who the audience was.

They probably just called up local funeral homes and asked if there was any possibility of then digging a grave a few days before the funeral and letting them use it. A lot of them are VERY money driven, so if you wave cash around it's gonna make things happen.

@@retro.raider I think Tyra has some internalized misogyny issues and it comes to light when she's faced with women who are more comfortable with sex and their bodies than she is and has always had a super anti sex work stance, IMO.
      On her talk show,
She did a segment on her show where she hired actors to pose as shady photographers and make ads luring women into thinking they were going to a photoshoot. Once they got there Tyra instructed the actors to persuade the unsuspecting women into getting nude for the shoot. Once they got undressed or started to, Tyra would pop in with her crew and scold the women for falling for it and tried to pass this crap off as her "helping".

I made it to the semifinal round of auditions and I remember how exhausting the whole process was, some of the questions were very personal and I kept wondering why they needed to know. TBH I think they wanted people who had somewhat of a turbulent past so they could exploit them for views. During the process I started to regret it and I’m glad I didn’t make it into filming. I knowwww I wouldn’t have done well amongst a panel of bullies. I pray for everyone who went through those cycles because it was basically an initiation ritual into Hollywood fashion industry. Each person got hazed on public television.

Tyra did triggering stuff all the time. It was too much of a coincidence:
Jael's friend did of an overdose...shot was about models being killed.
Keenya gains some weight...she's made to be Greed and an elephant.
Yoanna has issues with loose skin...the shot was a nude doubles shot.
Toccara was the first plus sized model and everything was done to break her spirit.
Kayla was traumatized by men...the coerced her to take intimate photos with male models.
Tyra also gave advice that never meshed with what was taking place in fashion during the respective season...
    And the list goes on.

This sort of stuff should be illegal. They should not be starved. They should not have to walk on unstable runways in freaking heels. How did the show go on for so long. We can see slightly how harsh that environment is on the show. Why did people still want to go on there. There has to be a safer way in to the industry
