I have a hunch that this is going to be the new thing.... all the fellas that just deleted the original sound tube are gonna wish they kept it for this! awesome mod, I am doing this
Hey! many thanks, glad you liked it..... I may have to put a kit together and sell them then... its only the connector that will cost the money, the tube is less than a £10 and will work for 2 installs. Down side is, you tend to drive the car harder at higher revs as it sounds awesome.... hahaha
@@davedoesit not at all mate how much better is it! Am i right in saying your idea with part using the original hard section of the sound tube made the rumble start at lower revs? If so i need to try this as mine only kicks in above around 5k and i would love to hear it more at low revs like actual ITB cars.
@@pureroadster59 Exactly that... We found that with a full length tube the sound was more raw and a bit fake, not like having ITBs, it kind of made you think you had ITB's in the pass seat if you follow my drift. The longer I live with it, the better the noise sounds and yes at low down it burbles on pull..
Good to know. I found the long tube made the induction sound more raw and a bit fake as it moved the noise into the middle of the car, rather than the engine, if that makes sense... Right, I'll have to start looking into getting some of these made then! haha
After having seen what you and VelocityGT have done, I’m convinced! If you ever make more adaptors, I’d happily buy one! Where did you get the tubing from?
Hi Nathan, I blame VeloctityGT for my new driving style now always stretching the revs... hahah... definitely a massive improvement with the induction noise.....The tubing was an ebay special, I thought I put the link to it in the description? if I didn't I will... haha... Ah ha! You’re very right, it’s in your description. Order is in 👌 Funnily enough, eBay might also be the best shout to sell something like this on? Maybe even Etsy, it’s made for small scale sellers!
There is a couple of places that you can fit the glove. 1 is on the adaptor I had made, the second is in the intermediate part, however, when I do another video showing the sound for the range, I will show you, hope that helps!!
@@davedoesit I actually chose the MX5 over a C8 Corvette because there is no way to start a Corvette without waking my family and all my neighbors in the morning.
Would it work to instead of using a rubber glove use some sort of hose coupler and a silicone cap with some hose clamps to seal off the end? I just don't like the hacky nature of using a rubber glove or trust it's longevity. I am going to try it using a 32mm to 20mm hose reducer, secured to the firewall with a ring of mounting tape and using a 20mm hose cap in the cabin and see what happens lol
I know what your saying. Its the only bit I am not over enamoured on, however, after running it for over a year, I haven't had an issue yet. My only thought on a plastic cap would be the thickness may stop the sound waves travelling through it, however, definitely worth a try. :)
@@davedoesit Yeah true on the sound waves, I guess I'll give it a go, I ended up ordering the parts to roll my own version for pretty cheap so I'll have to experiment and see what sounds best. I love induction noise but from everything I've seen pretty much most of the aftermarket intakes for the ND perform worse than the stock intake, and I'd rather not trade performance for intake noise
As amazing as it sounds, I haven't heard any concerns about performance. The larger diameter pipe might allow more pressure to go to the cabin or alter air flow in a way that robs the engine of pressure.
Hi Mike, thats why the glove is there, without a "barrier" then the vehicle doesn't have the back pressure and the engine will start "hunting" when the aircon is on. Glad you like it tho. Ive been running it for about 8 months now with no issues. Cheers
Hi, It certainly will, I have a stock intake and K&N filter, which does NOTHING.... haha... watch my other video (latest) th-cam.com/video/padWSjqhua8/w-d-xo.html and you'll hear the difference... Glove is old hat and gone now. Cheers!
@AntiHurdaci well, if you have my pipe which I engineered, you'd have a barrier in there, if your using something you've put together, I can't answer that. In my latest video you can see and hear the tubes...cheers!
Hi mate, do you know if anyone has tried this on an NC yet? I'm considering doing it myself, but don't have the means to do so at the moment. Also, there's something I'm struggling to wrap my head around. If you remove the rubber glove, is the sound tube sucking unfiltered air directly into the throttle body? It seems to me like this could be a huge issue waiting to happen if something get sucked into it.
Hi, no one has tried it that I know off, however it does look like the same set up, so sure this would work. As for the glove, I now fit it to the bulkhead connector. You are right tho, if there is no glove it will be sucking in unfiltered air, hence the lack of back pressure puts the car into limp mode.
@@davedoesit Thanks for the quick response. I wonder if there is a better, more durable alternative to the glove. I have seen some people fold cloths over the end of the pipe, which basically acts as an air filter. Another idea I've had is to purchase a cold air intake kit with a heat shield (open filter positioned inside the engine bay), then make a custom sound tube from the heat shield to the bulkhead. This would theoretically channel the intake noise, but I doubt it would be anywhere near as effective as getting the noise directly from the throttle body. The NC suffers from a restrictive intake manifold that greatly dulls the induction noise, so I think my only chance at getting a decent noise is reusing the sound tube inlet like you have done. Another difference between the NC and ND is that the sound tube on the NC goes to the windscreen cowl, rather than the cabin, so the noise is even less noticeable from inside. I am considering drilling through into the cabin similarly to how it is done on the ND, but I don't really want to do that. I fear I may have to just settle for a lacklustre amount of induction noise, which is a shame because it's my favourite noise and is a huge part of the enjoyment for me. Lol, apologies for writing a book!
