No wonder everyone's so afraid or intimidated of growing Orchids, most of them are already doomed from the nursery... it's such a shame, but thankfully, there are people such as yourself to help us save them. Or at least try. I can hardly wait to repot my new Orchids, although I'm still intimidated.
I have recently found your channel and although I had thousands of orchids before having to scale back due to my health issues I have never lost the enthusiasm for growing a small handful of my absolute favourites. Since watching this video and many others on your channel I realised that most of my orchids are in very poor condition and need a whole lot of TLC. I have been relying on my husband to do the watering and that has been a bad idea. He is doing his best but I’m afraid it’s time I took control of their care again. Your videos have been invaluable Danni and most of all a wake up call for me to take more interest in the care of my girls again. I love that you refer to them as females, it makes so much sense. Thank you for providing so much great information in your videos, I’m hooked on orchids all over again. Thanks again, keep up the good work, cheers from Australia.
I’m brand new to orchids. THANK YOU! Your videos are SO informative and easy to watch. You gave me the courage to repot my orchids. I think they might now have a chance. ☺️
Thank you Danny. I know nothing about Oncidiums or Catlias or any other orchids besides Phals. But I love the flowers so I will be getting some Ons or Cats soon, but first, learn, learn, learn! So thank you Guru Danny! lol
I'm new to oncidiums so am thankful to see your videos as I learn a lot. So far I've been fortunate that the oncidiums I've repotted are sending out a lot of roots. I made a potting mix of classic size Orchiata bark, #3 perlite, NZ sphagnum moss (I cut strands down to about an inch long), and some horticultural charcoal. I use the mix for both Oncidiums and Cattleyas with a bit of tweaking and the plants have responded with incredible root growth. For my dwarf oncidiums and mini cattleyas, I take the Orchiata bark down to seedling size and mix in some small size LECA. The main objective is to tweak the mix to provide support for the plant, some additional moisture retention (as sometimes I'm a bit behind on watering plants), and provide good air circulation within the mix (in addition, I use the slotted clear orchid pots so I can maintain watch on root development).
Thank you for this excellent information. I have had an oncidium orchid for a number of years and never realized that I needed to repot it the way you have described here. I rehydrated it, did divide it into 2 plants and have been watering it the way you described above. Now it is doing much better, one of them has bloomed and both are making new roots and new pseudo bulbs in a way they never have before. Thank you for this VERY helpful video and information!
Thanks Danny, this was such a great video! It was so informative to actually see you make decisions and how you tug on the roots to see if they are alive or dead.
I liked the multiple repotting. It hit on several problems I have had. No snails, thank heavens! You sound peppy and ultraprofessional, so I am praying that you are surviving COVID well! Loved all the colors and shapes. I am impressed that you continue to acquire expertise and knowledge about orchids. Good for you! Thank you for offering this for our use!
I really enjoyed the bundle repot format! It's nice to see different kinds of issues and how to handle them. It also helps showing how variations of orchids looks like compared to each other. It makes it a lot easier to get a sense of what's normal and what's not.
Hi Danny. Yes this was an invaluable repotting showing different situations and problems that can exist within a group and different techniques to remedy that might cover more viewers. You're right about needing two years. My first oncidium the Sherry baby I bought two years ago that was in worst of shape is beginning to spike I discovered this weekend. I almost threw away twice and decided not to give up and though its' spike is wonky will give me a bloom, credit to your vids.
A wonderful tutorial for us new orchid folks. Thanks, Dani, for your information and guidance. I did some repotting yesterday and discovered I did it right, after seeing this video. Hooray!
this was a great video! I inherited a sick oncidium when my dad passed away end of summer and I'm finally going to repot it and see what the roots look like. Now I feel more confident about what to do!
Oh my gosh, I've never seen someone have so much love and care for their orchids. I have always been somewhat cautious of them, because of one bad experience. I bought one once in my past, and it died. They're just so beautiful and somewhat costly, for me to just kill them! However, I have a perfect green thumb on everything else just about. So recently I found an orchid discounted to $15, at my local supermarket. I have had her now for over a month and she's just starting to drop her flowers. She has a type of bromelaid just aesthetically shoved into the side of the pot with her. I'm about to muster up some intestinal fortitude and re-pot them both in separate containers. I'll also cut that stalk, as in one of your other videos, and see if I can encourage a 2nd bloom. I would NEVER have the courage to do any of these things without your guidance and inspiration. Thank you so much! Because of you, perhaps I can now add these gorgeous creations of nature to my plant/flower collection. I have always adored orchids but always so intimidated. They really do require a special type of care and attention! And they are definitely worth it! I am so glad I found your channel! God bless you!😁
What an awesome story and I had a similar experience with phaelenopsis orchids as well. But, I'm trying again!!! With MOG guidance, we will have a better a experience and the orchids will too!
I really Ike this kind of video. Thank you for so much Information in one video. I'm researching African Violets and Orchids. After I found your channel I been learning more.
Hello, I am new in this orchid world, but I admire you and everything that you do. I ordered a few things from Repotme already. I always love the passion of many people have for orchids. I’m still afraid, because I am a beginner and I know that I will messed up, but you are very helpful with your excellent guidance. I just wish to have you here an tell me if my orchids are fine or need some kind of rescue. I love your videos and the clarity of your explanation. Thank you! I hope that one day I grow my orchids like you! 🥰
So glad I found this video Dani! I recently purchased 4 oncidium orchids and will be repotting soon. As always, your videos are educational and FUN to watch.
I am an enthusiast because of your Channel! I follow all your videos religiously even if I don't have that kind of orchid. I love all the experience you share and your passion for orchids. I personally prefer multiple reporting's in one video
So, here i am watching this a year late, as ironically I've been too busy caring for my own collection. However, I wanted to comment that this was one of the most helpful videos I've watched. I FINALLY feel confident about dealing with roots and re-potting. Having started with phals that are pretty self-explanatory, oncidium roots were tricky. Thanks again for all you share. :)
ohh nice, I just got a couple of oncidiums including the one that got renamed, soo I am still getting use to what to call it. thank you so much 👍 very helpful videos
Very useful and specific! I had problems after separating and repotting Cambria Alpine purchased from Cameleonorchids. One or two pseudobulbs get orange rot in each section. My roots looked like your Eurostar. Only one made a flower spike, but is shrinking and the leaves started to get yelow (although I respected all stages of repotting and desinfecting). I want you to make a progress video about the care you gave to these repotted orchids after a month or two.
Thank you so much Danny. for all the valuble informamationz. It was very infotmative. I just want to know if you mount any orchids and other epis and if you cou,d make a vidio about . Thank you once again for all the very helpful tips. Very much appreciated.
Love the combination of multiple repots in one video. It helps to compare differences of root. Question... Do we cut or leave the strings of the dead roots?
Thanks for this video. I really would be very interested how many from these 10 plants made it. Did you do an update or did I just miss it. By the way the doves 'sound' great.
Great post Danny👍 I’m new to Orchids so was very very happy to find your channel. Can I ask about the pots and how your DIY the ventilation with by soldering? It’s very difficult to get them here in Ireland. Thank you 😊🙏
This was such a great video. Very educational. Do you ever post updates on how the orchids you repot in these videos are faring down the line? I would love to hear about how the plants recovered after you tended to them, especially since it's rather depressing the condition nurseries sell these amazing plants in.
So I have a Sherry Baby I purchased with a spike from a nursery now it is in full bloom in a 3 inch pot. 2 large bulbs and It looks very crowded in the pot. Should I repot while it’s blooming? I have several Phalaenopsis and have repotted while in bloom with no issues. I thought about waiting until the blooms faded. This is my first on Oncidium. Love your channel! Ty!
Hi Danny. First of all: thank you for everything. Because of you, I’m a pro at Phals. Ive at least 1 orchid in bloom (often more) since December 2022. Some of them - twice in a row. [people tell me they’re hard to grow. I’m like.. I do whatever Danny says]. Re: Oncidiums - how did this medium work for you? The sphegem/bark ratio (that I use for the Phals) tends to wrinkle the pseudobulb rather quick and the leaves get an ‘accordion shape’ (rather than the leaf curving out/open… they often curve in/closed). Can you please share more of your oncidium experiences? (Erm. Would love more on Zygopedelms info too. The dark spots on the leaves; thoughts?) Thank you again.
I did enjoy this tutorial. You are clear, concise and knowledgeable I would enjoy more. I have a small fanning orchid with a fleshy rhizome, I believe. The roots near the orchid fans are well but miniscule The fans are about 3" by 1". Should I lay the fleshy under root (rhizome) on its side with is bigger, comparatively, roots spreading around it? Stick it straight down? One of the growths of fans looks as if it is climbing, as the tiny stem attaching it to the rhizome is much longer than the attachments to the rhizome of the other 2 fans I would appreciate your help. Sincerely, Loula.
Hi Dani, Thanks for your instructive videos. 2 Questions - firstly, do you inform the seller as to your snail infestation? & have you considered using the 2cm copper adhesive agricultural foil around pots which deters snails from attacking plants?
The reason for cutting the leg is then blooming and how long does the leg appear again? I am Arabic and I do not speak English so I did not understand what you say in the video just follow me because I love the Orchid? Is this kind of orchid better than the white blossom which is the best?
Thanks for this great video! I recently started to grow two Oncidiums and repotted them. Maybe someone can answer a question I didn’t find an answer to: I repotted my Oncidium Sharry Baby (it sadly came with snail damage 🥺) and unfortunately damaged a new growth just emerging from the rhizome. Do Oncidiums grow multiple new growths or just one? Hence, did I just kill my orchid? Thanks for your help ♥️🌸🌸
Thanks Danny! This is a very very informative repotting video that I need and enjoy to watch. 1 question: when repotting phalaenopsis with unhealthy root, should root not be wrapped with wet moss but bark? I had some phal with few root repotted last week. I found the unheathly root gone in the wet moss very soon. I wonder if the wet moss would cause the unheathly root rotten easily, without a chance to bounce back. Thanks!
We like to see this type of videos like this guys if you agree
Very informative! I will try to save my orchid.

Liked seeing several of the same variety of orchid being repotted. Helped to recognize potential problems with them.
Love this format. 👍🏻❤️
Thank you Danny. I know nothing about Oncidiums or Catlias or any other orchids besides Phals. But I love the flowers so I will be getting some Ons or Cats soon, but first, learn, learn, learn! So thank you Guru Danny! lol

I like this type of video, I am no longer afraid to transplant or divide my orchids. Love watching your posts!
I love repotting so it was so much fun to see all the orchids and situations that you came across. So yes, keep this type of video coming.
I like these. It seems a little more difficult to repot these ones so it's good to see a number of them to see what we may be up against so thank you
Loved seeing several repotting together!
I am a newby to the orchid world. This information was extremely helpful to me! Thank you!
After watching this video, I finally felt confident enough to repot my oncidium! It was much needed and so far, successful. Thank you so much!
I have very cheap orchids at my local grocery shop. Very similar to these. Very educational. I’m glad all is not lost. Only the patience issue
I liked the multiple repotting. It hit on several problems I have had. No snails, thank heavens! You sound peppy and ultraprofessional, so I am praying that you are surviving COVID well! @Gloria Vargo I agree, Gloria. I was worried that I was cutting too much , but now I see, it was correct! Dani is a wonderful teacher.
Excellent video with lots of examples of how to deal with problems! I liked it!
I really enjoyed this video, Danny. Making decisions according to what you find. Very interesting xxx
I like this format it's good to have the comparison
this was a great video! I inherited a sick oncidium when my dad passed away end of summer and I'm finally going to repot it and see what the roots look like. Now I feel more confident about what to do!
These videos help take away my fear of tacking repotting my orchids.

I benefited from the numbers of repotting scenarios. Very helpful!
I love it! I now really have a much better understanding of oncidiums and what needs to be done for various situations.. Thank you Dani.
Love this format because of all the education. And it’s easy to go back and see all the reportings in one
I really Ike this kind of video. Thank you for so much Information in one video. I'm researching African Violets and Orchids. After I found your channel I been learning more.

I would love to see the next repotting on these orchids. Great video!

One of the best repotting videos I've ever seen!
Watching this huge repotting video makes me want to go out and buy a bunch of them and have a go...Always enjoyed your videos
I like this format, especially in this instance. Oncidium intergenerics are my favorite and you have some stunning examples here.
GREAT video! So much experience we can glean from!
Love this lesson of orchid care.
ohh nice, I just got a couple of oncidiums including the one that got renamed, soo I am still getting use to what to call it.

Amazing, just stunning flowers too
This format was great. Thanks ! I am exhausted too . Good Night
Beautiful oncidiums ! Quite spectacular flowers I would say... Wow, exciting marathon repotting !

Cut!!!
Thank you. Very educational. I am about to repot 6 oncidium types and this will help me considerably
Thank you, just what I needed. Shame with the price of orchids that you get such poorly grown ones. Always enjoy your videos. 👍
👋 Thanks for all your videos especially this kind of footage formate, very helpful. Keep them coming.
Thank you, Danny, I enjoyed this video.
Loved the group repotting video! Very helpful! Please do more. Thanks!
I do like to see individual pottings, depending on their root problems. This was great though :)
Hey danni! I love you’re videos and take notes on them to retain knowledge. Keep up the good work!
Hi Danny, I really enjoyed the repotting video. I think it would be awesome to see more. Thanks🤗
repoting are my favorite videos!!!
Thanks you for doing this video it has been so helpful. I always start my day with a latte and you.
Love this video Danny... it was completely educational!!! Thanks a lot
Thank you for all your help 😁

this was an amazingly helpful video - so much work Dany! Great job!!
Where did these all come from? Flower shop going out of business?
These are so beautiful oncidium's. Great display😍. I have an orchid very similar to what you have. 😀
Love this Danni thanks so much.
I am really looking forward to see an update 😊
This was great! Very informational.
Love this set up and thank you very informative
