    Thanks for posting this, Joseph! I am just now getting around to unboxing mine. You have more experience than me using airbrush. I did not have the connector screwed on on the input hose to the airgun! Now... going to practice!

      Good luck. These things are a tricky beast to tame. Glad I could help in any way. Enjoy.

    It looks like you have a real fun tool. I have never used an air brush, so do try to have as much fun as possible and then share all the good points with us all.

      Your car? The weight of the paint might make it fall apart. ;)

    I am trying ti get one but i am not sure which one to get either this one, or Angelus x Grex XGi5 Airbrush Combo Kit. what is the difference?

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first difference is the needle size. The Grex has a 0.3 mm needle and the Angulus has a 0.5 mm needle, meaning the Grex can produce slightly thinner lines (for detail) than the Angulus will be able to.
      Besides that, the big difference is the price tags. The Angulus seems to be cheaper, but I've never used one of those, so I can't tell you if that means the product is cheaper in construction.
      I would opt for the Grex brand myself as I know their products are well made and their customer service is very good.
      Hope that helps some.

    Just starting out, which is better for finer details, the XGi or the TG3 (tritium)?

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't the gun (brush) but the needle that matters. Thinner the needle, thinner the line, but that being said... You can learn to make a hair thin line with any size needle

      @@ArtofJosephFinchum Thanks for the quick reply!. I think I'll "pull the trigger" on the TG3 model, seems like I may get better dexterity control when just starting out. I can always add another more traditional airbrush later on down the road as I gain experience..

    The new kits no longer come with the extra connector valve, the black paint or the dvd... also the “extra” valve that it does come with, it doesn’t mention what it’s for. Can you explain what this valve for?

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure which valve you are referring to. If it is the g-max valve, it allows pressure control from there rather than reaching for the compressor.
      Kind of lame they took out all the extras, but the dvd wasn't all that great. Just basic instructions and setup.

      @@ArtofJosephFinchum thanks for the reply. It’s brass about 1/2 inch long and has a rubber o ring on one end and the other end is threaded. The manual makes no reference to this piece and so far no TH-cam video has either. I can send you a pic, if I had a way to contact you directly. I suspect this piece is for some accessory but I have no clue. It appears to be the same piece that is 2 slots below the quick connect valve and to the right of the wrench on the video at 1:18. You called it “another valve” around the 3:20 mark.
      Thanks again for your help. It’s much appreciated.

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, okay. I misspoke in the video. Not another valve but an adapter for a thinner gauge hose. If you look at the other connector (the silver one for non threaded hose), the locking screw slides off and the brass one can be put into it so that it can connect to a thinner hose. I brought the whole case/kit to a local hobby/train shop and the guy asked if I wanted the thinner hose and explained what it was.
      Hope that answers the question, though you may never need the info.
      Often used for makeup and miniature painting. Steps it down to a much lower pressure.
      I've never had a use for it... yet. :)
      And thanks again for the view.

      @@ArtofJosephFinchum thank you once again for the reply and finally solving my mystery! And I agree, I see no need at this point of getting a different hose, but who knows.
      Grex could have done a WAY better job with their product manual. But so far, the compressor and airbrush seem top quality and I’m happy with my purchase. My wife will use it for her crafts with acrylics. I got it for light touch up to our kitchen cabinets where the lacquer paint has scuff and wear marks, and I didn’t want to do a complete respray.

    does the compressor get very hot with minimal use?

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not at all, it is an on demand compressor so it fills it self and as you use it, it will refill itself.
      I just recently used it to do coverage on a double closet door and had it running near not stop for an hour and it was still cool to the touch when I was finished. Barely heats up at all.

      Yeah called grex turn out they don’t put free paint or dvds in there kits now ... from what (Raymond) grex was sayin is the feed back on the paint; people we’re buying the machine for other things then the paint was intended for baking, make up ect. The dvd; people use online to stream there content so there a website and password for tutorials

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome. I hope you do more with it than I have... I still haven't gotten paint for it. I use watered down cheap acrylics to practice and the one little bottle that comes with it.

      The Art of Joseph Finchum - I suck at backgrounds... They’re so tedious and monotonous. If I carried a thread of hope that I wouldn’t smudge everything I’d not even bother with one in most cases. I figure if I can distract myself (usually a pretty easy thing for me to do) using something different I may not be so impatient with backgrounds.

    • @nickedgar6706
      @nickedgar6706 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ...see how that works? I can talk myself into anything!

    • @ArtofJosephFinchum
      @ArtofJosephFinchum  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too, both the backgrounds and the talking myself into things... lol. That is why I got it too, but haven't had a project to use it on yet.
      The stepping stone will be getting a single circle airbrushed on it as a sun, but still trying to work my head around incorporation... lol
