Just got my first airbrush after 25 years of being mad about them. (Had a hand pump cheap dual action trigger gun) Spent a couple days messing with it, with an understanding of how to use a spray gun. Nice to see these videos backing what I was 'figuring' out by trial and error! Thanks for the videos, subscribing, and if I stick with it, I'll definitely take your course!
Hey Carsten - Like I said before, you are an awesome video instructor. Keep up the great work and content. I highly recommend this channel to anyone who airbrushes no matter what skill level. My mantra is never stop learning... for those who don’t watch regularly, or are beginning are brushing, Carsten doesn’t use the airbrush cap. This is a great trick that allows you to get ultra fine lines, stippling and freehand textures, just to mention a few of the effects. But it does take practice to get used to working without a cap (not hitting something and damaging the needle tip is one thing) Watching these videos has convinced me to all but toss my air-caps in the bin... I still have a few caps I use... but not that many... thanks again!!!
This is the third video I've watched now. Dear God, THANK YOU. I'm wargamer hobbyist and your videos have been a great asset in using my airbrush properly. Most wargame painters don't include the details you have. So again, thanks man!
I bought my first airbrush this past week and found your channel a few days later. I am loving what and how you are teaching. Now that our local country show is over( I was demonstrating wool spinning) I can get on with learning airbrushing. Thank you for your great teaching videos. Cheers mate.
I just watched this video for the first time and subscribed right away. It is extremely informative. I just purchased a new airbrush machine for makeup applications. I’ll be needing my second one right now to start practicing. Great video and many thanks for sharing!
I think the explanation is clear and the presenter also explains it clearly and calmly. Nor is it unpleasant to listen to. I'm going to see if I can airbrush cakes in a different way based on these videos. Thanks for posting
I'm new to air brushing. And I needed a few quick tips. I have a double action and a single action airbrushes. The single action needs a few adapter pieces to use the same airline. My first use is that I'm trying to repair some parts I painted with a rattle can. There were hard to reach areas that had no coverage, and I'm hoping an airbrush will save me. If I put a heavy coat with the spray can, it would've caused runs and ruined my parts. But I'll practice a while until trying to fix my previous mistake.
i love the affect of shadow i think that so awesome painting my fishing lures to make them look more real..thats how i learns on plain piece of paper learning to draw dots an lines i used a lot of paint to learn i always believed you need to practice anything first then use it
I hope you have a beginner's guide to cleaning this airbrush and mixing the paint to put it in the bowl I've never seen this done up personal it's always been videos so I'm completely new at this
I have a silly question. (Probably silly lol) I've been using spray paint to paint hunting gear but I'm ready to graduate to airbrush (I just bought one) My question is, can I still use a clear coat on too with spray paint? Once I'm done painting with the airbrush, it needs a protective coat, especially since the paint is water based. Would there be a weird interaction with the clear spray paint? Another question: using spray paint, there is always a base layer, let's say black. Can I still use spray paint for that or does it need to be with the airbrush paint? Thank you!! I've watched a lot of your videos, I think I'm ready to do this 😊

First time viewer… first time airbrusher…videos are helpful so thank you… I am needing clarification on the “needles” portion. Are there more ,different types of needles that I need to buy. Is there a chronological order to your videos?
Hey Bud; really enjoyed your tutorial. Im going to be painting 28mm Historical miniatures. I splashed out on a Harder & Steenbeck Infinity, so i could attempt to do some fantastic effects on Horses etc. Ive been painting miniatures for over 30 years; im not even going to pretend im in your league as an Artist. You have fantastic control and clearly very talented. I am however going to attempt to replicate the exercises that you use in your tuts, hopefully it will give me some confidence to paint my miniatures. Im not game to start my own stuff until ive clocked up a few hours on paper etc.
Well i bought a simple airbrush set because i want to use it with chocolate. Thz for this video, maybe when i am more confidant i might do more with it.
Awesome tutorial! I'm newly interested in trying my hand at airbrushing, would love to get into doing goalie masks and what not as I have a huge passion from that being a goalie myself in my younger years! I look forward to learning more and getting started!!
Thank you so much 😊 this was great. I wanted to try airbrushing for some holiday projects and just received mine yesterday. I'll definitely subscribe to watch more.
About to start airbrushing for my first time and will be doing a thicker glow paint that is amazing.. i know it needs to be thinned and i have that sorted but my question is, what tip would be best for this .5 or .3 .... or can be done with both easily if thinned properly and kept well stirred as i shoot the action figures? thank you to anyone for answering this.
Thank you I bought the whole air brush equipment paint for shirts, wood, and still haven't even used it. I think I'm going to pull everything out and set it up. The main thing is clean the gun after use and run cleaner through it often so the paint doesn't gum up from what I hear.
How was I taught airbrush control? I was given some old newspaper sheets and was told to draw lines. The two things I must try to achieve with the lines are to 1) make sure that there's a "rat tail" on each end of the lines and 2) that each line has a consistent thickness between the rat tails. I spent 3 days, 8 hours each day, doing nothing else but that. Then for the next day after, I was given more newspaper sheets, but this time, I was told to find ALL the capital letters on the paper and draw a very thin and straight line to connect them. Then when finished with that, I had to find ALL words starting with a certain letter and underline them. After about 4 to 5 days, I have complete control over the airbrush. Before that, though, and before using the airbrush at all, I had to learn to pull it apart completely and put it back together. During the airbrush control training, I had to stop between newspaper sheets, pull the airbrush apart completely, and put it back together again before starting a new sheet. It was long and boring but very effective. After those 5 days, I moved on to prepping the artwork, cutting the stencil set for the artwork, then use it to demonstrate the composition of the artwork.
Yes….that is amazing and I had some similar lessons when I first started my teacher at the time would get me cross out each second word in the classifieds section of the newspaper until I could do it without it spidering…the most boring and mundane exercises are 100% the most effective 👍🏻👍🏻
@@AirbrushAsylum Oh yea... It was boring as hell.. lol... One more exercise he gave me after the word underlines one, was that he splashed some paint on a few sheets of newspaper and I was instructed to connect all the dots. With this exercise, though, it's not just to connect the dots, though. Whichever dot I start with, the line must start with the same thickness and grow or shrink to the thickness of the dot I'm connecting it to. This one took some time to get right... This particular exercise, I would do every now and then to keep up my practice.
I used to have 6 airbrushing using, one with each colour. 4 with the main colours which I used to mix by overlaying them (including black), then 1 for white and the 6th one for certain colours that I can't mix on the fly. For the 6th one, I use multiple jars, depending on the colour.
I do galaxy spray paint art and have always struggled getting my planets to look more 3d so this should definitely help me out with improving my technique.
Good video, thanks. I'm a noob just getting started. I managed to set everything up and spray some water through the gun, so I think I'm ready to start with some paint, but there's one thing you left out of the video. My airbrush and knobs and knurled adjustments all over the outside of it. There's one on the end, which I believe I've figured out is to limit trigger travel so us noobs don't spray too much paint. Then there's another under the trigger that seems to grab the needle for some reason. I don't know what to do with it. Then there's a knob under the gravity cup. I assume it adjusts the paint coming from the cup and into the spray chamber, but I don't know what to do with it. The last one is the nozzle seems to have an adjustment on it and I don't know what to do with it. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and I'm using a Paashe Talon and a Nedeco airbrush. Both dual action, gravity fed.
I'm going to being getting into Air brushing what would be the best Air Brush set (reasonable price please!) And what else would I need for Air brushing. It will mostly be used for cups.
