I don’t understand why you think service workers have some magical wand that can give you whatever you want. If you get in the wrong line or don’t have your paperwork, there’s nothing that they can do for you; and even if there hypothetically was, you’d be a worthless entitled POS for holding up the same line of 80 people that you were just complaining about standing in for a problem that was probably less important than half of the other people in line

Where I live, half of the stuff they used to do in office, you can only do online now. The only thing they do in office now is driving tests and renewing your license and maybe registration of a vehicle but even that one I think you have to do online now. So they're doing way less work now actually. They won't even answer the phone and if they do, they'll hang up on you lol. Obviously not all are like this, the one I'm talking about is the only one I've been to that is like that.

The "I know everything because I have been at my job 10 years" employee was refusing to give me a license because she didn't think my birth certificate was real. I was a military brat born on a military base in England. My birth certificate is called a consular birth certificate. Because she had never heard of that she assumed I was wrong. Thank goodness the supervisor's husband had one so she knew what it was.
The assertiveness and efficiency amongst chaos is so accurate lol and they are justified in the lack of super nice tone so people feel nice and cozy about their experience because not one of them was helping themselves. There are resources online, use them and come prepared! It's so simple and the amount of over stimulation and headache positions like this deal with would drive anyone nuts.

This accurate, but I understand to an extent. It’s a boring ass repetitive job. They don’t make enough to put up with attitudes, and A LOT of people come into the DMV with attitudes. Literally 90% of people in the dmv are pissed off. The workers are irritated that people can’t follow instructions, the people are irritated because of the waits and money they have to pay. The only mfs in there that be happy are people usually kids getting they license for the first time, every other time you come to the dmv after that point is always a hassle.
I went into one where they had elderly and pregnant women on one side and the rest on the other. No signs and I didn’t notice. They came and yelled at me to move to other side. I was like how tf am I supposed to know? It was the first time I went to THAT location.
I don’t work at the DMV but damn I do feel for them honestly. Imagine having to tell grown ass adults day in and day out shit that’s posted on a sign. Or people constantly bringing the wrong got damn paperwork and then trying to argue with you like you make the rules. It would try my nerves. More establishments should be able to essentially tell people to F off.
