There is a good reason while most of these villages feel abandoned, it’s because they are.

There's a few smaller villages in Spain that were abandoned for a while, then have been refurbished by homesteading type people (small holding types, in the UK). Any chance you'd go film those? They may not be easy to find, and the residents do usually like to talk and tell their story, and how they love rural life.

It's Bárcena Mayor in Cantabria. There are only about 80 people living in the village, so it's no wonder you see so few people, most of the few people living there must just be at home. That kind of folk architecture with those stone houses and wooden balconies is typical of Cantabria, specially those arcaded porches you see in 2:02. The village gets some tourism but there are some other places in Cantabria that preserve their traditional folk architecture quite nicely too (including "bigger" and livelier villages such as Santillana del Mar or Potes), so it's no wonder that you don't even see many tourists.
That was a lot of fun uncle Eric! I like the feeling of almost no one around. It added something to the feel of the place. I liked seeing the fellow wood worker! Freddie!

But what a shame the Americans completely destroyed and bombed the old historic and colonial intramuros district of Manila in WW 2.., before the complete destruction was packed with majestic churches,convents,palaces and hundreds and hundreds of historic colonial Spanish buildings wich they were lost for ever.

He should have greeted the people he saw. I have been watching videos from Spain here on TH-cam called "Me vuelvo al Pueblo" it's about Spanish people that return from the major cities to small Spanish towns, and all the Spanish life long residents of those towns are so friendly, hard working, yet easy going that like to have a good laugh. They make a living by having inns, restaurants, making crafts, farming, services, some are self-sustaining, or they have trucks that travel to the town and sell them the basic necessities. If you speak Spanish or know someone that can translate you can watch the videos as they are in Spanish. I really enjoy watching them. I have learned so much about how the Spanish are and life in general. They are just lovely people!

That is Spain too people. No flamenco, no parties, no beaches, and in my opinion it is as wonderful or even more as all those things.
