Most of the foreigners when they visit Spain go to the big cities, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla but the most beautiful gems of the country are in the small towns and villages. Aunque soy consciente de sobra, me asombra que lo que yo conozco desde que nací de las comidas, el asado, la vida desconectada y sencilla, y que he practicado el 85% de mis fines de semana, sea tan excepional y llamativo para visitantes de otros lares... en verdad viendo estos videos aprecio más algo a lo que por estar acostumbrado no le daba tanta importancia y cada vez tengo más claro que aunque soy urbanita, una ciudad como Logroño en una región como La Rioja es más que suficiente. OMG! I've seen almost all your videos and it's the first time I've cried 🥺 It's such a simple and beautiful video. It reminded me how fortunate I am. I also love watching the landscapes when while driving, the small towns full of people in the "terrazas", and the "sobremesa" with my family, friend, and coffee (in fact, I'm basically a tea person, but I love drinking coffee just at sombresas :D). Hi Rachel, I’m from a city close to Barcelona, Spain. I have been living in the US for the last 7 years and I’m still missing Spain so much so, that I’m seriously thinking on moving back soon. It sounds surprising to hear about community in the Spain of 2023. If you came here in the 80-90s, I'm not saying before, your head would explode. You have no idea of the degradation of so many Spanish things that has occurred in the last 40 years. A pity.
I like the small things you pay attention to. I can appreciate more the good things we have in Spain and I don’t realize. I have to say though that a few days it is nice being in the country side but I wouldn’t change it with living in the city. Having both is great! As you already know a lot of people living in Madrid has family in the country side and they go often. Just to disconnect and check on your family. Thank you for your videos! It makes me appreciate my country more.

Of course it depends on the person. My point is that maybe you like it so much because it’s different of what you are used to. After some years it could be boring. But of course I might be wrong. As you will end up living in Galicia 🙂 you will have both city and nature really close. Galifornia! 😝

That's "un fuego de sarmientos", a fire made with cut off branches from the pruning of the vines. It's considered by far the best for roasting meat. You were so lucky! In Spain we don't need long lasting fires or barbecues, we're more of the "medium rare" school.

I like the small things you pay attention to. I can appreciate more the good things we have in Spain and I don’t realize. I have to say though that a few days it is nice being in the country side but I wouldn’t change it with living in the city. Having both is great! As you already know a lot of people living in Madrid has family in the country side and they go often. Just to disconnect and check on your family. Thank you for your videos! It makes me appreciate my country more.

@@rachelanne2 i think you would get bored and you would like your kids to grow up in the city better than in the country side. I believe is more stimulating the opportunities you can find in a big city. Of course it has its drawbacks too but In my opinion the benefits are worthy

Of course it depends on the person. My point is that maybe you like it so much because it’s different of what you are used to. After some years it could be boring. But of course I might be wrong.

Un puente es cuando ese festivo es un lunes o un viernes, por lo que se junta con el fin de semana y tienes como tres días seguidos de descanso. Por ejemplo, si el festivo cayese en miércoles, nunca diríamos "puente", diríamos "festivo". 😉

All blond California gal 20 years old. I am originally from Colombia. She like it over there so much that I thought I may have to move to Spain with her after graduation. We thought about for a while. Instead, we decided to move to Oregon together and keep going like most Americans do. Work until retirement. It's working so far. Still happy. Enjoy Spain short or long term. Lovely videos. I watch most of yours. Great Spanish.

That's "un fuego de sarmientos", a fire made with cut off branches from the pruning of the vines. It's considered by far the best for roasting meat. You were so lucky! In Spain we don't need long lasting fires or barbecues, we're more of the "medium rare" school.
Nunca entenderé porque ponéis música que no se corresponde con el lugar, el flamenco es del sur, no se toda España, parece mentira que hayáis estado aquí y no lo sepáis.
