This is the most well done rom flash tutorial I've found yet. 2 hours of guys who are talking in loud rooms (in one video, you could actually hear a woman and child having a huge fight in the background), out of focus camera work, weird robot voices.... Ugh, I already have a headache over this and I haven't even started the process yet!!

I was planning on buying an s24 from hong kong since here in europe we get the exynos variant and the only way to get a snapdragon is to import, but i might need to change the firmware's region to get it to work properly. Do you know if this tutorial would still work for something like that?

U & U1 version are just different firmwares, with the U being the carrier version. You're not necessarily locked in to a carrier just by having their firmware.
You can turn your U1 to a U version by flashing Cricket's firmware. You need the three letter CSC code for Cricket to identify the right firmware to download.
Then you need to use what they call ODIN or patched ODIN to flash the firmware to your phone.
This is a breakdown of the process

Thank you very much. I got an urgent text message from my carrier saying I need to update the software, or it will stop working starting 2/22/2022. I tried but got software version not supported. I've been to the carrier's store, talked to a support on the phone and she said the next thing to try is factory reset. I suspect it won't work, because my Samsung Note 9 though was unlocked when I bough it, it was a TMB phone. I pop in a TMB sim card and got the same software not supported message. Also, it showed no phone service. I can imagine that's what's going to happen comes 2/22/2022. I think I may as well install the new firmware through Odin instead of a factory reset. That's how I found this video. I've been running around and stressed all day, but your video is very informative and assuring and best of all made me laugh. I just subscribed your channel.

Thanks so much! I haven't been able to dial out on my samsung s7 since the Feb ATT update. My phone hasn't been getting updates either. I was on android version 6 I think. I found this video tonight. The one site didn't have my model number, but I was able to download from a different site. I didn't do a backup, my decision, so there was nothing to restore but I'm fine with that. The update worked and I can now get calls and call out again! Woohoo....It's been a month now since I wasn't able to use it. The people at cricket couldn't help.

Thanks for the helpful tutorial. A couple of things:
I found that flashing the non-carrier specific firmware onto a phone that was sold with AT&T unlocked firmware required the use of the patched Odin 3B, even though I was not switching regions. Also, I seem to avoid needing to activate Download mode more than once if I connected the phone to the computer _before_ booting into download mode. This involved the A52 5G, but I suppose it might be the same for other recent models.

huge thank you for this video. got a 908u shifted to 908u1 and now i can do wifi calling. this was WAY too hard. verizon shouldn't be able to lock the wifi calling when switching carriers--that violates at least the spirit of the law mandating they unlock the phone when people switch their service. also the process for doing a firmware update should be easier. : )

Thank you so much for this tutorial, it's literally the most helpful that I've watched on yt -- fixed a soft brick
FYI: This also works if you're getting a 'SW REV CHECK FAIL Device X Binary Y" error code -- I accidentally tried to downgrade my android version and got that, so I waited for the Samsung Stock Android 11 Firmware (which came out the next day for my s10e -- got lucky) and fixed my phone with that. Couldn't even get it to boot to recovery, only download mode

Idk why, but it solves nothing for me... I´m still stuck with that error .-. I got the patched version of Odin and I downloaded (at least I think it´s the right version) for my Samsung Galaxy S7 ... what I couldn´t do and I don´t know how that works either, is how to reboot my phone after I entered download mode ... so I didn´t do the trick with leaving and entering that mode again.
      Some help pls?

also, its not a bad idea to go in to power settings (advanced) and suspend the USB port power off. Over time, windows may drop power to some USB ports which are not currently transmitting data, or if windows thinks the port is inactive.

Further to my previous comment, after flashing stock firmware, the bootloader (OEM) stays unlocked, meaning that things like GooglePay and some bank apps wont work. The way to fix this is by re-locking the oem after you have flashed your new stock rom. Here are the steps to do that (since it took me a while to figure out and there is hardly any info online) - bear in mind this works if you have NOT tripped Knox and its using a stock rom and do these steps at your own risk - always have a backup just in case:
How to re-lock bootloader (for S20):
    1. Turn off your device.
    2. Press Volume down + volume up and insert usb cable to your phone to start the download mode
    3. Read the text below on the Download Mode screen
to block or unblock the Bootloader.
4.- Long press the vol (+) button to enter unlock mode.
    LOCK BOOTLOADER SCREEN:
    5. Read the 2 options available, one will say to lock the lock the bootloader, the other to lock. Press the relevant volume button (was down on mine) until the phone restarts (this will erase your data and restart automatically).
    6. Go into developer mode and then uncheck the unlocked oem option, restart your phone.
That's it! Now you have a device with an OEM locked, so everything will work as expected, again, as long as its a stock rom and you have NOT tripped Knox by root etc.

Hey Alex, question for you. I haven't flashed new firmware to a phone in years. From memory, I remember thinks like root access / TRP or something - but cant remember what you can/can't do. With this tutorial video, and not "tripping Knox by root" in your comment about relocking - I have a couple of questions. A) can I flash new firemare to my current phone (running stock firmware from Samsung, Hong Kong region, wanting to change it to the stock firmware for my carrier in Aus) as it is now (meaning, not having to do anything to the root / bootloader - e.g. unlocking it?). B) If I do need to do something to the phone first, before attempting to flash the new stock firmware for my region and carrier, what method is best to not "trip Knox"? Apologies if this is a silly/moot question - just want to make sure I do it right / don't mess up the phone

This video rocks. Super fun to watch! You gave me the confidence to try this on my own. My phone is out of warranty so they want to charge me over a hundred bucks to have them do it....Question: When downloading the firmware, do I choose the software version I have now or the one I want to install....Really appreciate the video. :)
