    Honestly, as a human being, Courtney is an inspiration and gives me so much joy cheering her on, and watching her interviews. She is the best of us and gives me hope that this world still has some good to give. Among all sports I think trail and ultra running overall has the best fan base, culture, and pure human raw ability.

    I get all of what he's says. She loves to experience extremes in solitude and collectively and she don't want no media hype , or exaggeration to get in the way of that 'purity.' She's representing something special within us all and we all need to be careful not to get in the way of that,

  • @puika1987
    @puika1987 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Seeing her live fighting up the last mountain was unreal, you could tell she went deep in the paincave. Already a legend, I wonder if she could be the first female Barkley finisher.........

    • @andrewshortt4338
      @andrewshortt4338 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      puika1987 Yes I believe she could...

    • @edscottdotblog
      @edscottdotblog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      She definitely could fitness-wise, but I don't know how experienced she is with navigation? That's the make-or-break at Barkley I believe

    • @puika1987
      @puika1987 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edscottdotblog Yes you are right navigation is huge at Barkley, but I guess with some effort it can be learned. I think Gary Robbins had to learn a lot about navigation. Well time will tell, she definitly has the grit and grinding gears.

    • @edscottdotblog
      @edscottdotblog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@puika1987 If I'm not mistaken Gary Robbins got his start in competitive sport on expedition races. So his navigation experience combined with his Ultramarathon experience makes him a pretty fearsome Barkely competitor! But you're right, it can definitely be learnt. I think if Courtney wants it bad enough it's only a matter of time!

    Me too. Nice to hear someone else did also. - I teared up watching Courtney run back to high five everyone. Also, props on iRunFar interviews. You're far ahead of everyone else including the "English" commentators for UTMB live. I understand they needed to use professional commentators but you have the real knowledge of the sport. You know their journey and people, all the people involved. Great stuff.

  • @jamesowenph

    I ran SOB 100k in 2018. On the first major climb this steezy woman passed me wearing what I thought were basketball shorts. "Rad" I thought to myself. Hours later as I began the out and back section near the end of the race, the same runner passed me just as I left Corral Canyon aid station (meaning she had about 6 miles left, where I still had about 20). I excitedly said "hell yea!" to her as we passed each other. She laughed, said thanks and off she went...
    ...to laugh and kick ass everywhere she goes.
    Congrats Courtney! So stoked that such a positive and altruistic person who clearly just loves running is having so much fun and success in the sport

    I really loved this interview! I think so many people wonder what her secret is and what makes her tick, I watched her on the Joe Rogan podcast and he didn't really push or prod when she'd give a simple answer. I loved your I rest my case moment @10:03 I think she just finds the joy in running and there isn't more than that. Kinda like in forest gump when he said I just felt like running. Sometimes there isn't a demon or inner secret you use to fuel your amazing performance, you just feel like running.
