You know as well as I do that 9/10 of the people buying sealed are not prepared to go through a market cycle. Great video that will hopefully help some new pokevestors become aware of what they signed up for 🙏
Lol no you just need to buy it work everyday and literally not care about the box. What I do. As soon you comfortable. You get bored and start thinking about it
I do both. I have a active investment initially but always with a passive longterm goal. Always actively buy low but passively long term put away and forget
When I restarted my journey I definitely made emotional decisions and over-purchased a bit. I've recovered, and am tempering the emotional aspect as much as I can. I'm now focusing on passively investing in booster boxes and PC ETBs for each set, and some UPCs as they come. I'm also actively cleaning up from my early decisions by grading the worthwhile duplicates, and selling off valuable individual cards and bulk obtained during the emotional start, which is good for building ebay rep for selling sealed when the time comes. And also remembering to feed the pack goblin to keep it satiated.
My girlfriend really loves Crown Zenith and I've stocked up on that set lately for longterm passive investment. Every day since I picked up my stock, she's been asking to open "just a few packs" - so I've had to tell her every day that those packs are not for us to crack open and they're gonna stay sealed for years. I don't think it helps that we do not currently have space for my stock though. It's all on display in our living room.
Gotta crack a box here and there to enjoy the hobby. Investing is trying to secure a future for your future self. Gotta make sure current self has some fun as well. Lots of stories of folks in business and investing who spent many years sacrificing to build wealth and in the end had their lives cut short and never got to enjoy it. It's all about balance.
Active investing makes more sense on the stock market where there are no fees (for the most part). With the fees and shipping costs, it cuts down on your gains by a lot
Nothing wrong with doing both . Your active investing can lower your cost basis on your passive investing. Just takes homework like you said and you can make both work simultaneously.

Thanks. I needed to hear this video. I need to just buy a sealed case and just put away where I can't see it.
