For how much they are charging us for these figures, they would be using real leather. Like where is that 300 to 400 dollars going into? It’s like they’re spending too much money on stuff that does not matter and leaving no room for real leather. Anybody who agrees and wants to add their thoughts, please reply.
I've noticed in my collection figures with pleather like my Crow or Blade 2 start flaking around 8-10 years old. I've kept them in a dry environment so there's definitely truth in your presentation. Good video, good topic!
A dry environment will keep the pleather... you guess it... dry and even if the figure had a perfectly hydrated material, in time it will suck all the humidity from it and dry it to the point that it starts to crack. So, for a material to keep it's elasticity it needs a little bit of humidity, but not to much, because it will go in the opposite direction: it could start peeling in big chunks or it could start to mold.
Honestly it looks way better than I expected it to. Surprisingly it held up better than some spidey figures with the rubbery material. Also, I’m so happy that Hot Toys finally went with nylon instead of pleather on the new battle damaged darth vader. And please do a video on the inart superman too. Inart did say that it was some new technology developed so the suit won’t stick to itself, but I’m curious if it’s true
lol say a prayer and drop a like. This is a great series. My favorite pleather figure was the original winter soldier that not only has flaking but rusting buckles as well
On upcoming figures they have switched the pleather to a more nylon sort of stuff, like the new dark side Luke and battle damaged vaders suits are meant to be nylon.
Pleather does not go bad in the right environment! Pretty sure all these figs that have had issues were stored without a case. Been collecting since 2000 and none of my items have gone bad.
About genuine leather. I know people want it, but they often forget the maintenance it comes with, especially top grain, which can crack over time due to being so thin. Leather of any type needs conditioning every couple months. If collectors are willing, let ‘em have it.
Yeah I actually don’t want real leather because i do not want a figure that requires maintenance. All we want is to have figures that can last 5 to possibly 10 years and not have to do maintenance in order to achieve that. For figures that are worth hundreds of dollars they shouldn’t need any maintenance.
I just bought a sideshow exclusive darth vader and the first thing I did was hit the pleather with some 303 protectant..I use it on all my pleather clothing figures and it genuinely helps alot❤
Humidity would definitely be doing the most damage to pleather. I've bought the Impostor Joker (Suicide Squad) and Deadpool 2.0 from the Philippines and both flaked as soon as I took them out of the box. Philippines has very high humidity pretty much all year. Bought them both new and seeing the figures through the box they looked fine. But as soon as I took them out, they started flaking heavily. For the collectors that live in places that don't have high humidity, I don't think you have to worry about flaking. I'm glad Hot Toys is starting to use real leather on some of their newer figures. Hoping they just stop using pleather for good.
@@joeymetalgear4670 I think you’re right on the money here, I’m lucky to be in a good humid area, never have issues. Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective!
The belt is upside down? I’m pretty sure it’s put on the right way, as I just searched up photos of the belt and it looks correct. and agreed! it almost looks more accurate when it looks worn
@Riley.Reviews the green light up squares on the belt boxes should be at the top not the bottom, if I could post a photo on here I would I think the belt boxes have been swapped if that makes sense? I have the ANH and Kenobi Vader's and on the ANH the boxes come off so maybe ya swapped them when putting the coin cell batteries in?
@@rationalsatanist1811 yeah I’ve seen others who do the same, thing is if Vader’s are kept in the box they could still flake which is scary! thanks for watching
I posed my battle damaged vader in the exact same way and reposed it 3 weeks later. The pleather on the interior bend cracked...😢Amazing, just weeks will do it. Posses me off and makes me not want to invest my monies in Hot Toys with cheap pleather materials in areas that are constantly stretching and bending
Damn bro! Sorry to hear, see this is what I mean though, I guess there really isn’t a method to maintaining it. I’ve heard 303 works, I’m not sure how your humidity is in your area but that can also play an effect? I think the solution is simple, we need genuine leather on ALL figures, clearly pleather isn’t working for collectors, especially for the price we pay!

@@Slam_duncan03 exactly!! The thing is people would likely pay even a little more for a genuine leather Vader suit. Thanks for watching
@ we shouldn’t have to pay more, they’re already expensive.
Should have a nicer light up feature by now for the saber. Shouldn’t have to pay more $$ for a custom saber
I agree! it's nice that the new terminator is getting real leather
Or don’t give us figures that have to be maintained, we don’t want to do maintenance nor should we have to.

Interesting! I never looked at it with this direction, didn’t think you would have to maintain afterwards. Thanks for sharing the tips and insights!
Great point. I live in the South and all our leather car seats and couches have cracked eventually even with care.

@Riley.Reviews won't hurt them at all trust me..I learned this from another TH-camr keco collects

Riley, are you getting the new Bane? Have you done any long-term poses with medical silicon?

Darth Vader Spider-Man pose here I come!

If the figure have pleather don't buy the figure Its the only way you don't have flaking problems and Hot Toys and other companies learn the lesson.
